1st trimester friends

my scan went really well! they thought we had twins!!!!!!!!! how dare they scare us like that! they then did an internal u/s and there is only the 1

phewwww. got to see arms and legs and a heart beat of 180bpm. it was so re-assuring!
wish i could show u all the pic..........but im not sure where to post it or how!

Wow! That's good news - good strong heartbeat

- that's a really good predictor that you will have a successful pregnancy.

So in a way I guess it was good that you had to wait until your 8th week - you were able to see so much.

I had mine done earlier this week and was only able to see a little heart fluttering - so in that sense, you're lucky!

greg-how far along are u now? u should get a ticker lol! you really can see a lot more at 9weeks

I've been tentative to get a ticker so far...but I think I'm feeling a lot more confident now - seeing as I saw the heartbeat. So maybe I'll do the ticker thing...Today I'm 8 weeks! So happy to be this far. I don't have MSN...I usually do the internet thing at work and msn isn't really encouraged..

I'm sure we'll keep up on this thread...and other 'trimester' threads as we go along!!

8 weeks! when did u have your scan? 6weeks? what did u see? yup i reckon u can get a ticker now! lol stay confident! should be fine............

Hi all,

Just had our scan yesterday and managed to see the minnow! heart beating away - very exciting.

Both dh and i felt quite tearful. We now have our second picture, foetus small at only 7mm so embryologist said it calculates to about 6weeks 3 days in size but said at that size if her mrk is out even slightly makes a big difference so will know better at next scan.

She had real troubles seeing past ovaries as they are still like oranges after ohss - said it could take a few mths to go back to normal!? Ughh!

Yes, they order the scan early here in Canada...at least western Canada. We had ours at 7 weeks and 1 day. All we saw was the sac and a little beany (measured 1.1 cm) with the heart fluttering away - and not all that much else. I think what the clinic is really concerned with is making sure there is a heartbeat.

How exciting that you were able to see the heart fluttering! I know it's so emotional and exciting

greg-congrats on the ticker LOL, looks good! when is your next scan? we have a doc apponi thursday to find out results from bloodwork ect..........and hope to find out when the next scan is planned for us!
saraid-hi-congrats on ya first scan! it's great to have a few 1st tri friends!

My next dr appt is on March 13 and hopefully then they will schedule the next ultrasound. The waiting list for u/s is weeks and weeks so hopefully they try to get it scheduled soon! I think the general normal first scan is at 18 weeks....I don't want to wait that long!!! But I think that's when it probably will be - and that would be around May 8 - seems like a long wait!

just came back from the gp! WHAT a waste of time that was! no more scans until week 18 for me also

i can't bear to wait that long! what will i do with myself! gp has classed me high risk as i am slightly underweight for my height. he wants me to gain 20kg this pregnancy! wants me back every 2 weeks just so he can weight me! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i could do that myself!
how is every1 else going?

I had to be weighed frequently during my pregnancy as well - like you underweight at start. I know it's a pain, but one thing that's good about it was that I felt like I was being checked every fortnight - a big bonus when most people have to wait so long between each visit until the third trimester.

Take care and look after yourself and bump.

I hope all you other new mums-to-be are ok and not suffering too much.

HELLO ALL...

GLAD TO HEAR THAT EVERYONE IS DOING GREAT!

IT HAS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON THE THREAD. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL SCANS, KINDA LUCKY, I HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY 3 YEARS AGO AND BECAUSE WE ARE HAVING TWINS, I GET A SCAN EVERY TWO WEEKS! WE NOW HAVE A TIMELINE OF SCANS ON OUT FRIDGE. WE WILL BE 10 WEEKS THIS SATURDAY AND ARE GOING BACK TO THE DR ON FRIDAY SO HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE ARMS AND LEGS. I HAVE READ FOR ALL OF US AT THIS STAGE THAT EVERYTHING IS DEVELOPED, AND NOW THE BEANIES ARE TURNING THE CARTLIDGE INTO BONES, SO WITH THAT WE SHOULD START FEELING ALITTLE MOVEMENT!!:P

I HAVE A 4D SCAN FOR THE 16TH OF THIS MONTH. THAT SHOULD BE FUN, I HEAR IT IS JUST LIKE A REAL PICTURE. I DID TRY TO GO SHOPPING THIS WEEKEND FOR MATERNITY CLOTHES, BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR SO I WALKED OUT OF EVERY STORE EMPTY HANDED. I AM STARTING TO SHOW AND MY CLOTHES ARE TWO TIGHT, MY RT OVARY HAS SOME CYSTS ON IT, I HOPE THESE WILL GO AWAY. TO DATE I HAVE GAINED 10 POUNDS. I REMEMBER WRITING THAT I COULD NOT WAIT FOR THE SICKNESS TO COME. WELL IT IS HERE AND I AM READY FOR IT TO LEAVE!

I know the 18 week mark seems like sOOOooo long away. I'm going to try to convince my doctor that another one is in order....

Actually I'd even be willing to pay for one - just for some peace of mind - just past the 12 week mark would be perfect.

This past weekend I felt what might have been a wave of nausea. I walked downstairs to get some breakfast and felt kind of dizzy and my tummy felt awful and I almost started sweating. I kind of got scared because I don't like getting sick - so I went back up to bed and laid down for a few minutes. It passed...and I'm soooo hoping I don't get any more episodes like that. I, too, was wishing for morning sickness as it would be my first pregnancy symptom....but no thanks now!

Totally agree Gregmbarry about the dizziness. I have had no morning sickness but starting to get dizzy spells if i have been sitting or lying for more than 20 minutes when i stand up. That baby sure is sucking up the nutrients!

I have my first appt with the gp nxt wed 15th and am going to lean on him to refer me for a 12 week scan - can't possibly wait until 18 weeks. I will be in Australia then as well but as still have my aussie medicare card will get it for free - i hope!

Hope every one is doing well and baby bumps doing fine.
