Saraid -

Oh I definitely agree with you on the whole clothes thing. Right after the IVF my clothes didn't fit because of the drugs I took...I fit back into my clothes for a few weeks and now they're all tight...! I'm obviously not showing - but things are snug. I am headed out on a trip this weekend and hopefully can find something that is comfortable and appropriate for work.

I just don't like being in this middle stage where you are obviously not ready for full-on maternity clothes - but your old clothes don't fit. Although truth be told - I wouldn't change it for the world :D

Hi Guys,
Hope you dont mind me dropping in! Feel like a bit of a spare part wandering around the forum and wondering where to go! I was very cautious and a bit nervous to join this thread ... because it feels like am cheating and not entitled ... I dont believe I could actually be really pregnant pregnant, and not just possibly pregnant!!!! But really desperate to share my nerves and elation and general petrified feelings and hear some newly expectants stories!! I just had a BFP 4 days ago and had second bloods today which looked good at 1080 hcg, so kind of had my first few seconds of relief at passing the first hurdle!

Can believe after 6 years its finally happened, and have had a positive result! I took 2 HPT's after the bloods just for the pure pleasure of seeing them turn positive!!! Have sat on the loo sooooooooooo many times wishing that blasted thing to turn positive thought I should milk it whilst I can! (Expensive habit at $25 a pop so I should give that up I guess!)

Am nervous because I have no symptoms whatsoever, no tiredness or sore boobs, just AF pains every now and again (nerve wracking!). I'd really appreciate if any of you could tell me how you felt in the early days and if its normal or not to feel nothing! Its very disconcerting. The 7.5 week scan feels years away. So want to relax and enjoy but it seems impossible! How did you guys feel? Did it get a bit easier?
Thanks
Mel

Hi Mel

CONGRATULATIONS - you must feel fantastic! It is really hard to believe that it's happened - I was exactly the same. I only told my mum until I was 12 weeks because I was SO convinced it couldn't really work for me -but it has so far!

I just wanted to hopefully ease your mind - loads of people don't get symptoms straight away - or some at all. I was a bit tired and had sore boobs on and off for first 10 weeks but that was it - have had no symptoms since - I am obviously pretty fat now but I was never sick, haven't had heartburn, back ache nothing - just a great big belly - which is very nice! I have read about lots of people that didn't have sore boobs or tiredness in first trimester.

Anyway - hope the next months are enjoyable. Take Care Love Vicky

Dear mel,

Congratulations honey!! Well done getting over here. Don't worry about no symptoms, if i had not had icsi i would not have known i was pregnant until i would have been 6 weeks when i missed my period and was sure it as not turning up. I have had no morning sickness, cravings, sore boobs or even growing boobs. They are slightly larger but only enough to make my Elle Macpherson bras look really good!

I have actually lost weight as well so no tummy even! It is quite unsettling as you think oh god it is all a mistake but when you have your scan and see that heartbeat - wow.

Look after yourself, eat well - lots of good fibre to help avoid the constipation (my only real symptom) and drink lots of fluid and mostly enjoy this time as onc we start getting bigger it will all kick in.

Love Saraid

Mel,

Congratulations! Don't worry a bit about no symptoms. I still have none and I'm over 9 weeks now. I had/have slightly tender boobs - but nothing that I would notice if I weren't squeezing and prodding :). The only thing I've felt was a day before 9 weeks when I felt a wave of nausea/dizziness - but that passed within a couple of minutes. The time to your first scan does seem like a long way away - I remember it well - but your HCG numbers are really great - mine were a little over 500 on my test day and a week later over 2000. Strong numbers like you have are an excellent indication that everything is going well.

Once you see the little heart fluttering away - all of that time waiting and hoping disappear. When I read the post about the big belly - I got a bit weepy - I can't wait!

My advice is to enjoy this time - you are pregnant right now! It's unbelievable to say it after all of your hoping and praying - but nothing can take that positive pregnancy test away from you! I totally understand about taking the home preg tests - I loved taking them too - just to see that line get dark - it's really a miracle!

Thanks soo much for the support and sharing! I had my latest blood today, nurse tells me its perfect, so I will take her word for it, feel sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy and elated I could float off my chair, must try and keep my feet on the ground, but just relax and enjoy it a bit when they wont stay there! What a blessing and a miracle and a dream come true, I cant believe it.

No symptoms yet (but hey am only 5wks 3 days if am counting) tho if I concentrate reallly hard am sure I feel just the incy wincy tiny bit queasy hee hee, and if I squeeze reaaaaaaaaaaalllllly hard, my boobs might feel a fraction bigger (hold on think I might be imagining that bit!)

Take care all, hope you are all well and enjoying, cant wait to get to the point where most of you guys are and see little beanie's heart beating away!!!

Hi all :)

I just got back from a business trip that my dh was able to come with me on. We turned it into a mini-vacation and had a great time acting like tourists. We took a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city and I even bought my first maternity clothes. I don't need them yet, but I couldn't resist.

My next dr appt is this afternoon. As I'm 10 weeks I'm hoping that I can actually hear the heartbeat with a doppler. I've read that you can hear it with the doppler as early as 10 weeks but maybe not until 12 weeks....I'll let you all know tomorrow :)

hi Mel..

i am so happy for you. i wanted to ease your mind a bit. i am now 11 weeks pregnant with twins and the morning sickness is really setting in, up until this point i really didn't have any symptoms, the ladies(boobs) were fine, no back pain, i did have a few spells of dizziness, but figured that was onlt because i was tierd. it is sooo hard to believe that you are really pregnant. your hcg numbers are alot higher than mine where so i am betting that is a very good sign that you are well on you way to joining the big belly club!!!

please, rest as much as you can, eat really good and eat all day long, my doctor said 6 small meals a day. if and whe the sickness hits you you will be glad that you have developed this eating pattern. it will cut down on most of the headaches and on the dizziness.

we go on the 16th of march for a 4d scan of your babies, i wll keep you all posted.

as always keep rubbing those bellies( even if they are not big) and take care of yourselves.

Hi ladies

thought I'd pop in to cheer you all on :D

Angel and GnBarry

If you have a nuchal scan at 12-13 weeks you get a really detailed scan - have to pay for it though I think in the UK?
Couldn't you call the midwife and ask if she can swing a scan for you????

Another idea is to buy a fetal heart doppler, I bought one via ebay.co.uk about £80 for a good one that shows heartrate not just sounds, and you can connect to the pc and record it too :D that way you can hear your sweetie(s) every day (they say from about 10 weeks).

Maternity clothes are a bl**dy dilemma unless you have loads of dosh, as you don't only grow you change shape so you can't buy to grow into  I found the best trousers from 8-10 weeks when my waist disappeared were maternity stretch trousers without the pouch, but which have a very long body that eventually would come over the bump, but you can roll it down in the early weeks. They are by Christoff (I think that's a Germna make but you might get them online??? and quite dear, about £45-60 a pair, but they WILL last you probably until 3rd tri and will be perfect for afterwards as tummy will take a while to go back, and if you have a cesarean you wont want the welt of the pouch style trousers on your scar (my midwife recommeded them).

love and courage and hugs to all, I still feel queasy and am right off meat and cheese so taking protein supplements and eating baby rice!!!

Hi Richard,
Have her go to the doc to get checked then.
I had a UTI for weeks in the begining of my pregnancy I didn't know it right away.
They can give her meds that are pregnancy safe so she will feel better.

Hi Richard

really important to get it checked out and treated so get her to the Dr pronto.

Could just be that she needs to wee all the time and feels the pressure of the growing womb and hormones on the bladder  I needed to wee all the time and was up million times a night until about week 12-14 wehn it got slowly better as the womb moves up into the abdomen and away from the bladder. Really important to drink loads of water/filuted juice despite this feeling.

hugs

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well. I just had some lovely news from oz - my sis had my nephew Alastair Thomas on sunday morning. Very cute. I can't wait to get out there in May to see them and my other neffie who was born last Sept.

Charlie Definately get to the dr asap - if you let a urinary infection go it will get into your kidneys and then you will feel awful(from experience as 1st one i had i thought was back pain and went to the physio instead - very blonde)

BigJ Glad to hear you are doing so well. The common aussie trick for m/s is Jatz crackers(can't get in UK) but they are a type of saltine cracker you eat with a dip normally but everyone swears by them. I bought in a supply of similar here and not needed them! Totally agree about maternity clothes. I have browsed many websites and so many of the clothes are hideous. I am going to need maternity jeans soon as my normal ones just don't feel comfie - early bellys are strange as just above pubic line is flat and then you bump out in line with ovaries? I think mine slightly worse as has ohss and ovaries still quite large. The doppler idea sounds amazing - reassuring everything is going according to plan.

jellybean Goodluck for your scan on the 16th. What do you see with a 4d scan? It would be lovely to have twins but i am pleased that only one minnow 1st time as i am so nervous of newborns and might freak completely trying to get my head around two!

Gregnbarry Where did you go on your trip - horse drawn carriage rides - very romantic. It is so nice to do things together at this time. How did your appt go? I hope you got to hear the heartbeat. I see my gp tomorrow and am going to push for him to let me have a 12 wk scan on nhs.

[/b]mel Hooray! Keep your feet up and get lots of rest. when will you have your first scan? Hope everything is still going well for you.

Angel Work is so tiring isn't it. i much prefer my days off as i get knackered at work as on feet all day. Get as much rest as you can and tellyour dh that it is dr's orders for you to lie on sofa eating chocolate as your body is still working harder than his even when stationary! Did you get a date for your scan. Looking forward to hearing how it went

Love saraid

Hi everyone

So I was at my dr yesterday. I posted basically this same message on the general forum - but maybe you all might have some knowledge here. First off, the good news - I was able to hear the baby heartbeat for about 10 seconds - then all we could hear was my big old heart beating away...hehhee...it was so special!!!

But it's the other part that has me a bit worried. The dr did an internal exam on me. It's the first time this dr has examined me. He asked if any dr has ever talked to me about my cervix. I thought he meant - you know - kind of explained how it works etc - so I said - a little..?? He said - well it's open a little bit - but don't be concerned - lots of women are like that - it's completely normal.

Well no dr has ever said that to me - so I'm freaked out! From what I've found on the internet - it could be that I have an incompetent cervix. Do any of you have any experience with a slightly open cervix??
