How to scare you hey! I have not yet had an internal from a GP so no idea about the slightly open cervix thing. I would speak to your ob/gyn and ask them if they have noticed this, what does it mean and is it a problem. I think if they thought you had an incompetent cervix it would have been picked up in earlier examinations.

Try not to worry until you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Love Saraid

So my OB thinks that my regular dr may have been mistaken. He said it is too early for an incompetent cervix to show itself. He recommends that I go for an ultrasound as soon as I can get in so they can see what the cervix is looking like. He was reassuring without dismissing my concerns so I feel alot better. His office is closed this week but I'm going to make an appt as soon as they are open to get a better exam.

Hi sweetie
Gregmbarry
the other thing you can do is get your progesterone levels checked. Your doctor will go  as they dont normally do this, but I had mine done before I started reducing the suppositories and shots I was on. Anyway, progesterone is responsible for making sure the mucus plug in the cervix neck is there this has antibodies in it and stops infections going"up".

A graph and stuff to show your Dr (cos he'll say he doesn't know the normal levels) is at:
http://repro-med.net/papers/progest.php

insist on it - even if you have to pay, it'll put your mind at rest

Angel,

I hope things went well telling the boss. I actually told my boss when I was going through injections etc. I had to travel about 4 hours to my clinic so I was gone for about 2 weeks in total. I had no choice but to tell him. He's a family man and very understanding and encouraging - even though my mat leave will leave us in a pickle...

Congratulations on your scan! That sounds so exciting!!!

I'm going for my next scan today - because of my cervix issues - so hopefully I'll have some good news today.

Hi All,

The scan went well yesterday. Thank goodness. I was able to see so much more! First of all, the cervix looks to be the proper length and it looked closed to the technician. The baby looked amazing!!! Actually babe looks kind of like an alien - but still - so amazing! I saw little arms and legs - a big head :D . Most of all, I'm glad about the cervix issue and to know the baby is still developing like clockwork. The heartbeat was 164 bpm - so a good strong heartbeat. Much relief.

My ticker - I went from my last menstrual period as given to me by my clinic (not my actual LMP)...I guess that is 2 weeks prior to egg collection. I think they calculate that because if you were on a regular cycle - EC = ovulation. And ovulation occurs 2 weeks after your last menstrual period in a normal cycle. The way I see it - if the clinic left ovulation to mother nature - you would have released an egg 2 weeks after your regular period. But because the clinic held off ovulation with drugs - you basically ovulated at EC rather than a week before as a regular cycle would have done. Hehehe...all of my rambling - I hope I make sense!!

Hi guys,

Hope eveyone is well and enjoying the spring weather?!

I am really pleased everything is fine after your scan gregmbarry. :D It must be so reassuring to see the little one growing and heart beating. I can't wait for my next scan - 11/04. I will be 1 day off 13 weeks, over 6 weeks since the last one! I don't have any symptoms so keep thinking it has all gone horribly wrong. Not even my boobs are growing anymore. Everything seems to have stagnated. Hopefully just a glip as am still getting tired in the afternoon so probably making a mountain out of a molehill!

Only a week or so and both you and angel will be in the 2nd trimester - yahoo!!! I am so looking forward to having a bump and letting the rest of the gang at work know i am pregnant - currently not allowed to do any lifting or pushing trolleys. Difficult making up excuses why not! I work in a bookshop which requires lots of physical work and i normally run around doing all the mad jobs.

Better get off my bum and do my chores now. Lovely being lazy for a bit though.

Angel,

I'll send you a picture of my scan. I have no idea how to post it so I'll just do it that way. I have a webspace but it seems to only work in certain places so I don't think it will show up for you.

Saraid,

I'm exactly the same as you...I have to keep reminding myself that I'm pregnant - I have no symptoms and my boobs aren't sore or growing anymore either...!! Ah well...at least my clothes are getting tighter - so that's something. I'm hoping and waiting for when I start getting the belly - then I'll know for sure. The scans help - but they're on the screen. I was just saying to my dh yesterday - it's so strange being 3 months pregnant and not even having any symptoms. Still doesn't seem real despite the scans...:)

Glad to see all is going well for everyone!

I have my next scan on April 11th and I can hardly wait. I've still been feeling tired, a little crampy, and my belly is starting to make the pants tight. Must be that I'm having twins that I'm poking out right now. But, no big boobs yet. (DH is a little disappointed in that  )

I don't post on here very much, but it is nice to check in from time to time to catch up on how everyone is doing. And to see that I'm not the only one having certain symptoms and thoughts.

I wish everyone luck, happy thoughts, and good wishes for the rest of their pregnancies!!

--Julie
