Hello everyone! Well, I gave into the HPT and I got a faint positive. But I'm not getting excited yet. It could have been traces of the HCG injection.

Sofia: I was in the suppression stage for about three weeks if I remember correctly. It's great to hear that you don't have any lumps or bumps. The clinic's vacation may put you off a little, but thank goodness you still get to proceed!

tlkmoser: Your post brought tears to my eyes! I'm so glad I was able to help you and now we can support eachother through the last part of our "11 day wait". I'm sorry to hear that you feel like your AF is coming. Let's pray that it's not, but it appears that you have a very good attitude about trying again. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do if my test comes back negative and I know I need to prepare myself for that! I know like you and your DH, we'll try again. I'm so glad you decided to join us and I look forward to all of us celebrating and/or supporting eachother no matter the outcome!

Lucybucy: You know, I took about 14 days off of work, which covered the entire process but only because my treatment center was 3-4 hours from my house. I thought I would be returning to work for the 2ww, but since I went a little early I'll return to work one day before my HCG test!! I'm glad that I was able to rest beacuse following the EC I was pretty sore and had lots-o-gas!! I guess it's about personal preference and the doctor's orders. My ET was on a Friday and I was told to take it easy for the weekend and following that not to do anything I would regret.

My DH and I have a date night tonight and I should start getting ready! Good night ladies!

Love,
Prissy

Hi all!

Thanks to those of you who offered support regarding my lack of growing follies, I was a little panicked.

Prissy ~ Glad you are getting lots of rest. Keep up the positive attitude!

tlkmoser ~ welcome, and that was a sweet thing to say (I think it made me a little misty eyed too!) good luck and lots of rest for you, too.

Carolyn ~ Congrats on your 13 eggs! I hope all goes well

To everyone else, keep up the PMA! My thoughts are with you all. This is such an emotional and exciting journey....

I found out today that I am ready for ER! My follies grew and grew (Today I was told they looked "BEAUTIFUL"!) I smiled big, I'm so proud of my follies...DH and I have to report first thing Saturday morning 4/29. I just hope everything goes smoothly.
I, too, am looking forward to tomorrow, a day of no shots!

Thank you all for thinking of me and my follies!!

Hi all,

I wrote a v long, v witty posting last night and lost it all in a system crash - dammit! So here I am again, up early to go to the clinic for a blood test before work.

I did my first 150ml Puregon injection last night! I was getting more and more anxious about it so decided to get it out of the way.. DH had to leave the room! Messed up my first one as was getting really cross about telly being on and as I got up to switch it off my pen rolled off the table and onto the floor, bending the needle in the process. Anyway, finally got myself sorted, did the injection in my tummy and found it to be completely painless! Couldn't believe it! Hooray!

I was so excited about starting my stimmies on my last posting that I forgot to tell you I went for my first NHS consultation with a gynae on Tuesday. I've been waiting 6 months for this appointment! Anyway, she is the first doctor who has suggested looking at DH health issues, rather than concentrating on mine, I was very impressed! She has referred him to a urologist (?) and he is to take Selenium and Zinc supplements for 3 months. DH is not impressed  Anyway, I am now officially on the NHS 2.5 year waiting list - huzzah!! :D

Does anyone else have to go for blood tests everyday while they're on stimmies? I guess it's very thorough but as they're £30 a go it's going to be a little expensive!

Am wondering about taking the days off between EC and ET and then going into work after that? I'm wondering if my boss will let me change my hours so I can do 8-4.30, the journey may be a little less stressful on the tube then. I've got a desk bound job and just read in Zita West's book (beginning to get a little obsessed with ZW) that sitting isn't the best position for an embryo and lying down is better! Maybe should bring that up with my boss too...

CYOT - I ahve heard that the stimmie drugs can make you feel tired, probably your body trying to cope with all the changes - just look after yourself and rest up girl!

Carolyn - I'll be thinking of you today and will be checking the site while I'm at work for news. Fingers and toes crossed for you sweetie xx

Em- Welcome to the list! I don't know much about IUI so would be interested to hear your progress. Can't believe you can do your own ultrasounds - if I were you I'd be taking that machine home with me :)

Natalie - I'm supposed to start on Menopur in a week or so but at the moment I can't give you any advice on the injections as I haven't tried it yet - sorry

Dania - no idea what CM is, you'll have to spell that one out for me! Have you tried using a hot water bottle on your tummy? It might help with the soreness.. worth a try. Good luck with your scan.

MissyPrissy - sounds like you're doing really well with your PMA - I hope I'm as positive as you when my turn comes.

Sally - good luck with your scan today, let us know how you get on xxx

tlkmoser - hang in there, you never know what your body is really up to with all these hormones, it coud be playing tricks.

Sofia - its a bummer about your clinic going on holiday for a week. Sounds like a very strange way to run a practice but I'm sure they wouldn't leave you on suppression drugs unless it was absolutely 100% safe to do so.

tiffichels - 1.5 inch needle? If your DH can manage that one he deserves a medal! Mine wouldn't stay in the room last night when I was using a Puregon pen! I donate blood quite a lot and the needle they use for that is huge, really thick too. I find it really helps to keep breathing deeply rather than holding your breath and look away when they are inserting the needle - it doesn't hurt half as much if you're relaxed.

LubyLu - Good luck with your scan today. Hope you find time to wind down over the weekend, look after yourself!

Missprissy - have you bought any more test kits? I guess it doesn't matter how many you do as long as you remain positive and don't get too over excited!

Beth - best of luck tomorrow with your beautiful follies! Let us know how you get on xx

Good luck again to all those who have scans today! I have to dash now, off to the clinic for the first of many blood tests!

Hi guys.

Well!!!!!

Went in to the clinic for my scan at 6:45am (!!!) and was feeling a tad anxious. Went something like this:

DH and I front up. Doc says "Come in, you too, Ant if you want".
DH says "great!"
Doc says "slip your pants off, this is a vaginal scan"
DH goes green and exits stage right!
Doc says there's one big follicle in there and its ready to go....what are you up to tomorrow?
I just died! "What? Tomorrow-tomorrow?"
He laughed and said "I'll just go draw up the ovulating drug"
I say"Ant, get in here!" and tell him.
He says "What? Tomorrow-tomorrow?"

So yes, tomorrow is the first IUI. I almost fainted on the way back to the car. And then cried. And then freaked right out! And this is just my first round! God help me!

Lucybucy - you made me laugh! Your DH sounds as if he is cut from the same mold as mine!

Dania - I hope you had some good news today after your scan!

Sofia - I never thought of myself as being from the other side...I guess I am. I'm afraid my expertise is not really in the world of fertility (more cancer diagnosis, etc) But I've had all the old University text books out trying to make sense of it all. Unfortunatley, my Doc knows what I do and talks to me as if I already know what he's talking about - so I might know less than everyone else! But try me, 'cos I have a wealth of doctors at my disposal at work who are used to my silly questions!

tlkmoser - I hope the 2ww goes quickly for you. This site really does help! My DH doesn't get it, but I know you girls all do.

CarolynB - Wow! It's nice having a connection with people on the other side of the world. Small connection, I know, but still it makes me feel a little it closer to you all. Hey, Lord Prof Wilson sat next to me on the bus on the way home from the hosp one day (he got off at the BBC - making another film, perhaps?) - I was completely star struck! What an idiot...its not like it was Jude Law or anything! But considering he helped pioneer IVF!!!!!

SallyC - Hope your scan went well today! I left the Ham in April 2004, so I would have missed you. I hope the girls were nice to you, though.

MissPrissy - I so hope you get a BFP! A faint line is still a line!

Hope you're all well, and this made you giggle,
Em

hello again after I have been MIA. This cycste got me so down after they put me again on BCP. But I finally finished the pill.
I went for u/s yesterday and they said to stat stimming on Saturday. Yyoohhoo! However, the cycst is still there, mesuring the exact same 2cm. I wonder why they stopped my cycle 3 weeks ago? I also wonder if it were an issue last time, why did not they aspirate it? I hope it's not a big deal and that I will grow some eggies.

Sofia, could you please updatethe list: Vess- stimming 4-29
Expected ER- 5-9ish. thanks a lot.

Danielle- I am so exsited for you. It would be so exciting to see the little bean:) I hope you see not only sac but HB as well. Yes, it might be early for a Hb but let's wish that it's there!

prissy- i am very optimistic for you. I hope it's a real BFP and not traces from the HSg. 4 more days to go and we will nknow for sure!

Em- good luck with the IUI. It's funny how it went in the Re office:):):)

Lucy-Busy- I am taking 10 days after ER (I think some call it EC here). This way i will also have at least 5 days after transfer. GL!

Gotta go,more later.

GL to all!!

Uterine Cysts?

Post by LauraLou »

I had my baseline vaginal ultrasound last week and they found two cysts in my uterus. I didn't get to talk to the doctor, just the sonographer and the nurse. The nurse said to go ahead and start the Lupron but to call when I got my period and they would have me come back in and do another u/s. If the cysts have shrunken in size, the we can go forward with the Follistim. If not, then the estrogen the cysts produce could interfere with the Follistim.

I came home and looked up uterine cysts but they don't seem to exist. There is lots of info on ovarian cysts, but nothing for uterine. Maybe she meant fibriods? Had anyone else had something similar? Did the cysts go away or did you need treatment to get rid of them?

I was so, so disapointed. I have waited so long to get to this point and the thought of having to delay again makes me incredibly sad. My husband said not to worry until after the second u/s because it may not be an issue, but it's so hard not to stress about it.

Update

Post by tlkmoser »

I wanted to start off by saying a big THANKS to everyone for your warm welcome and for your words of encouragement.

I think it worked. I have had no AF feelings at all today! Now I'm starting to get excited/nervous again, instead of just depressed. Only the weekend to get through and then TEST DATE on Monday at 8 am. I'm going to have them call my DH, who works out of the house and give him the results. I don't want my results good or bad while I'm at work and I cannot afford to take anymore time off. I'll just have to race home at 4:30 pm to get my results from him. I'm sure I'll get a ton of work done that day!

Prissy: Congrats on the pee BFP!!!! I told my DH you had your ET the day after us and you did it, but he's a real no go on the sticks. It was worth a try though.

LauraLou: I've heard of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids but not uternie cysts. I might call the Dr's office and check back. I know fibroids in the uterus can be a no go for IVF. They almost xcled my cycle because I have a fibriod right near the entrance to the uterus which they thought might impede tranfer. There was no mention of this fibriod ever until the day of my baseline. I was devestated thinking they'd xcl us but in the end the Dr. said he could work around it. No one said boo about hormone levels though.

LucyBucy: They did test me every day while on stims. They thougth I might be rising too fast so they wanted to keep an eye on me. I looked like a pin cushion after 4 shots a day stims plus blood work for eight straight days. Bruises are just starting to fade.

For those husbands that can't watch the u/s and are leaving the room for shots, I'd like to give a shout out to my DH here (who will never read this but oh well). The man literally almost passed out in the class we took about how to give the shots. They had to have him sit down and put his head between his legs!!! Oh did I mention he's a Marine! Anyhow, a month later, he's Dr. Marine. Glasses down on the end of his nose, tapping the syringe to get out air bubbles, telling me to relax!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

LauraLou,
I hope your cysts shrink.
If you go back in pages 8-13 somewhere you will find my post about my cyst. I was cxanceled due to ovarian cyst. I also felt to depressed. I was going to completely cancel the whole IVF if I did not have the medications. But instead I waited patiently and started BCP again. I am not taking Lupron this cycle since last time I was a poor responder, they do not want to supress me too much. So, I had to go on the pill again. Fortunatelly only for 10 days. As of yesterday the cyst wa the same size but let me go without asking t oremove it.
Don't worry, even if they don't shrink they do aspiration. It will not cancel your cycle. They just suck the water with a needle. very simple procedure.
I am starting stims on tomorrow. I hope the cyst does not grow.
best of luck to you.
P.S. I have heard about ovarian and uterine cysts.

Hello Ladies,

Just a quick update on my baseline scan yesterday.

Scan went well, have down regged nicely and my right ovary is looking great - they couldn't find my left ovary though :? !!! Think it might be sitting high up and resting and once I start stimms should appear, but there is a possibility I may have to have a general anaesthetic rather than a local for my EC if it continues to 'hide'.

Am due to start stimms tomorrow (Saturday) as long as AF has stopped, if not I need to call the hospital and go back for another scan next week! Praying desperately that I can start stimms tomorrow as I'm anxious to move on with the treatment.

Hope everyone is doing ok, sorry for the lack of personals this time I'm really tired as had a bit of a 'trying' day at work today.

Am going to attempt to update the list with the start of my stimms and stimm scan date.

Love

Hi ALL!
Sorry to have confused everyone with CM- I read that on another board- it means Cervical Mucus the one you get b4 you ovulate on a natural cycle. I had some this week and I was curious why.

Carolyn- how are you doing? Did you have the ET?Thinking of you! Keeping fingers crossed for those little embies.

Cyot- my cycle buddy- How are you feeling? You have a scan tomorrow- wish you all the best. My jeans are so tight and I feel so bloated.

Lucy- how was your scan today?Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Vessi- good Luck with stimms tomorrow- wish lots of follies!!! And to keep the cyst ever so small...

Tlkmoser- only a few days to go- Hang in there and try to stay +ve! Hope it all goes well- +ve vibes to you.

Lauralou-I have heard of fibroids and polyps in the uterus. Make sure you clarify it with your Dr. I have had both. Polyps can be removed in the Dr. office quickly-Fibroids depends on their size. I had to have a vaginal hysteroscopy (its like a D&C)a few yrs ago because the Fibroid was 8cm(it was reduced to 4.5 cm with Lupron for 3 months in order to remove it with the least amount of scaring) and causing extreme pain and hemorraging when I had AF. I was blessed when I found the Dr. that offered me this solution. I went to see five gynos because the 1st one told me he would have to remove mu uterus completely. I decided I had to fight to keep it and so I hunted down the best Dr. in the biz in Canada.

I still have 2 my uterus right now and they said it was fine because they are 1 cm each.Lots of women have fibroids and they proceed to get pregnant and have healthy babies. I've read up on it ( Fibroids by Dr. Togas Tulandi is very good). There's no need to worry until you have another scan after your AF- they had me do a Saline scan- which they can precisely measure the fibroids.
Don't worry- I trust that they are small and that you will proceed with IVF.
Think +ve and imagine they are all really tiny peas... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Wendy-that's good that Down REg is going well- don't worry they couldn't find my right ovary when they did my 1st US either.Good luck with stims tomorrow- wish you lots of follies.

Beth- woohoo! EC tomorrow- best of luck- many follies!

Prissy- only a little while more for the officiall test! Baby dust to you!

Danielle- How exciting!!!I hope you get to hear the heartbeat 1 or 2?All the best to you!

Em- Wow how cool your 1st IUI! Good luck tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Lucybucy- I know that 1st injection is so dreadful and scary. I got so emotional I thought I would faint, then I cried after. It gets a little easier after a few. So hang in there! I can't believe how close it is for me now- I started my 1 st on april7th -21 days have already passed! My husband has been taking zinc and vit. C supplements after he saw the Urologist and was diagnosed with low sperm count and morphology was not good. He was also prescribed Serophene 25 days a month(5 days nothing) half a pill per day. It is new that they are testing this drug on men. It helped somewhat his numbers went up by 25%. Keep it in mind when you get the results - don't know if it helps you, but it could come in handy if you need it.Good luck!

Sally- how was your scan????Keeping my fingers crossed!

tiffichels- a needle that big? I'm shocked! t'd the the retrival needle to mix the liquid vial and the powder vial together and then you change to the small 1/4 inch needle?

sofia-how are you doing?

Brenda- How did it go? Fingers crossed for a BFP.

Natalie- how are the injections going now?

Gail- only few days to go!Baby dust to you!!!

HI to anyone I might have missed.

Well, as for me my scan today went very well but they put me on OHSS alert. They found 30 follies-I guess my positive visualization exercises for the past 20 days has paid off -yes I never in the world would have thought that was possible. 20 (one of 16, 4 of 14,3 of 13- the others are 12 or less) in my right ovary and 10 in the left (3 are 12mm or bigger). No wonder I have not been feeling well and aching.I still had to take a Gonal F shot tonight and tomorrow morning I go back for another scan and a blood test. They said atleast 3 have to be 18mm or bigger for them to proceed. So I've been drinking lots of water and Gatorade-b/c of the electrolytes. Had to measure my belly in case it swells too quicky. My DH has been watching over me and did the dishes tonight which is great.

I thank God for this blessing -after having a Dr. tell me he would remove my uterus completely because of a huge fibroid to hopefully fulfill this dream.

Good night- I have to get some rest only 12 hours go until I find out what the next step is.I'm nervous and excited.
