Huge congrats MLG. So glad to see your new tikker!! I've been watching your tikker closely waiting for you to take the plunge. YEAH!

Sue- I'm amazed you can wait until 22 weeks. I need some of your will power. I already have a belly which I like to blame on the pregnancy...could be a couple of other things to though. I so agree that the wait between scans is awful. I've had them nearly weekly and still am holding my breath until Thurs!!

What wonderful news Traci. I'm nervous for the 12 week scan and then I'll be nervous for the triple screen. I hope mine is as good as yours. What a relief! Did they give you a risk/benefit for amnio? Sounds like you have really good odds from your screen.

Dottie - my friend had bronchitis several times during her pregnancy and took antibiotics for it. Her baby looks great and is due next month. Good luck, it must feel miserable :(

Big hello to all the moms! Is it feeling real yet?

The doctor says I have a sinus infection. They gave me amoxicillian, the other day they told me to take Claritin for my allergies, now they're saying if I can get off it to try to get off it, it's not good. I wish they'd make up their minds, because they're scarring me more than I already am.
What is amnio?
As of June 6th, I'm 8 weeks, first scan yesterday. Triplets. Scarred out of mind!!

Good morning 8)

Dottie - I am so sorry you are suffering with a sinus infection...in fact I may have one too...For the past couple of days I have been suffering from very intense headaches...I can't even sleep and every time I take a step it feels like my head is going to explode. The pain is under my eyes, nose area and lower forehead - feels to me like a buildup of sinus issues. I keep trying to blow my nose to take some of the pressure off - helps a little but very painful. I have a doctors appointment next Thursday. Amnio is amnio centicis (sp?)..where they take out some of the amniotic fluid, culture it and can then tell you for sure if our baby has any ailments (spina difida, downs, ....and then for sure the sex). Tricky procedure where they need to do it with a long needle.

MLG - Congrats on the scan! Was the baby sleeping? Everytime it gets more amazing to see the little ones.

Daly - I am sure your screening will go very well...I was very nervous too. At my next doctors appointment we will discuss the next steps and options. In Germany there are specialzed doctors for the 'big' scans - so I go back to my normal ObGyn for the discussion. I hope next time to hear the heartbeat.

Kristi - The risk of m/c with amnio scares the living daylights out of me too...but on the other hand I would like to know more about the baby. I will see what doc has to say about doing amnio.

I am doing well...except for these miserable headaches...still not showing! I have grown a bit and normal clothes are starting to get tighter but nothing...the strange thing is the baby is a big baby. We measured at the 'big' end of the scale for everything.

I am so happy we all have good news to report :D :D

Hello

tracii - great news on your results, you must be so relieved. I won't be doing the amnio, i would not cope if it ended in M/c after the effort it has taken to get to this point.

Christine B - Nice to hear from you and all the best with your little girl.

KristiA - Hoping those results bring good news.

MLG - Good news on your scan, well done

Daly - Hoping the scan is great on thursday, it will be amazing the difference in a week.

Dottie - My doctor gave me amoxicillian last week for a chest infection, so i am sure that is definately fine, as he said it was a low dose one. Hoping it soon clear, take care

Tracii - Hoping you are also feeling better soon,

Well i have told about 4 more people, only because a friend who works in our department said she was 7 weeks pregnant and i felt i should tell them. I did spend about 5 minutes thinking it all through first. The rest of the department is scared of sitting on the wrong chair in our very small staff room in case they catch it!!!! The longer you leave not telling people the easier it gets, at one point i was not going to tell them until after the summer holidays, when i would only have about 6 weeks to work!!! ( would of been fun trying that one). I didn't realise i was the only one being SO secretive  I am looking forward to telling my niece, she will be so chuffed for us and will probably scream the house down (she's 16).

Great news that everyone is progressing well.

take care

love

Hi All,
So exciting that we are all progressing, sometimes it feels fast, like when I see Kristis email saying she is having her 16.5 week scan, and then I realise that I am 16 weeks along next week too!!! Yikes! And other times feels like have been pg for about 9 months already.

Sue I can totally relate to you wanting to hold out. Wasnt planning on telling anyone at work, until the pumpkin hidden under my jumper was undeniable (and then didnt plan on actually "telling" anyone!) I was suprised how protective I felt over the whole thing. Anyway most of our world of close family and friends know now. We just told a big group of friends over dinner on Saturday night. Everyone was so happy for us it was lovely (giving me warm fuzzies!). Still feel over the moon, starting to feel a bit real!

Caught up with friend today who has 6 week old daughter (from successful FET). Shivers, its all seeming so amazing that thats going to be us lot in 6 months or so!! Was just in schock thinking of the transformation from the photo of 3 day 8 cell embryo to a beautiful amazing wee little baby girl!

Sorry for rambling, and havent had chance to catch up with all of you. Hope you all go well on your decisions to have amnio / CVS screenings etc. No more scans for me until 20 week ... seems eaons away!!

Anyway finish on crucial questions, anyone really showing showing yet? I just have a cheat belly full of pies and water retention, so I look 6 months one minute and then flat as a (thick waisted) pancake the next! And who has decided if they will find out the sex? Also any expert advice on when the boobs actually stop or slow down growing. This is a serious question ... need to plan the underwear repurchasing plan and budget carefully.

Ciao

I love reading everyone's posts. I makes me want to comment on everything, but then my posts are too long!

Mel, I know, the time is flying by. I'm definately showing, probably because of twins. Had a stranger ask me when I was due. I've gained 20 pounds as of yesterday. I'm 100% maternity clothes now, including shirts even. I love it!!! I don't know when the boobs stop growing, but I'd like to slow it down. I'm up 1 bra size so far.

Yes, I want to find out the sex. I read you can "start" to tell at 16 weeks...so I'm hoping the doc might be able to tell next week. If not, hopefully the scan after, which I'm assuming would be 20 weeks.

Sue, isn't it fun telling people? That's my favorite part!

Tracii & Dottie, so sorry you so sick. Doesn't sound like much fun!!

To do Amnio or not to do it...that is the question. I'm torn also. Just hoping the NT & blood results give me a good enough result that I'll decide not to do it. The risk just scares me too much.

I know how you feel!! I have been in maternity pants since 6 weeks and my regular dress pants are now a thing of the past - I have a little bump going too! Of course luckily I have gained about 4-5 lbs at this point but I got a few weeks to catch up to you....

It is possible, my last pregnancy I felt kicks as early as 14 weeks (felt like popcorn popping) and they were able to tell it was a boy at 16 weeks....Depends on whether the baby wants to show you or not LOL

Any girls have "gut feelings" about whether you are carrying boys or girls??? I had a gut feeling with my last pregnancy and I was right...This time I also have a gut feeling and can't wait to find out if I am right! I think its another boy! (which is fine with me!)

Jessica, really they could tell your last boy at 16 weeks? Oh good...more hope for me for next week. I don't know why I'm so excited to find out. I guess I'm ready to think about painting the babies rooms, colors, etc. I still haven't stepped foot in the baby dept in any store though.

You could feel him at 14 weeks, huh? I keep waiting to feel something.

I have a gut feeling that I have a boy and a girl. Not sure why, I just feel like that. Maybe because that would be my first choice, if I had a choice. Of course I can't say that without also saying that the most important thing is that they make it and that they are healthy, and sex doesn't matter!!! Cliche, but definately true.

KristiA,

I know just what you mean! Yes I did start feeling him at 14 weeks - They were sporadic and usually after I was sitting for awhile I would feel a little pop - it wasn't very hard but it was noticeable...He also had a habit of kicking the doppler when the dr. was listening for the heartbeat - so we would hear the heartbeat and then all of the sudden a thud! It was so funny!

I just wanted to do a quick post for the poor sinus sufferers!!! I used to have chronic sinus infections and wanted to share the remedies I learned over the years. Ofcourse you won't be able to take the God-send medicince Sudafed or ibuprofen. (those were the good old days!) But there are alot of other things that ENTs highly recommend.
Really important is moisture. (especially with your long winter in Germany) I used normal saline nasal spray religiously. There is something they call nasal toileting (yes an attractive word) You spray repeatedly into your nostrils and only blow gently. (blowing hard can cause worse backing up). Also getting a humidifier and sleeping with it on. (those nights can be soooo long with a throbbing head). Make sure you keep it cleaned according to instructions so you don't get another infection! Applying a warm compres to the throbbing/pressure areas of the sinuses is also helpful for improved drainage. One last thing. The accupuncturist can put needles around the sinuses and this has given me great relief. I'm really missing my Claritan and my Flonase. But, I do know woman with worse allergies who took Claritan throughout their preganncy and did great.

Regarding the show or not to show - Mel, I love your expression of "cheat belly full of pies and water" that's a classic. I've been in Fat Pants since 6 weeks and really have not been able to wear several of my pants since my first IUI trial 1 year ago! My stomach sounds like yours Mel, it can grow inches over a 30 min period and kindof shrink back up. Last week end I indulged myself and wore a maternity top. It was so much fun!

I have a gut instict it's a boy. We've already named him, so if it's a girl, she's in for some therapy already!

Thank you Daly for the great info! I went to the apotheke today and asked the doctor for something to help clear up the blockage. She gave me some drops made from plants (totally bio) and is ok for pregnant woman. Sinuses have gotten better but not great. The headaches I get are really bad. I am also trying to see my acu doc next week...haven't seen her since getting preggers so hopefully she can reduce the swelling and pressure as well.

We have a gut feeling the baby is a girl. I do have a boy's name picked out and have been thinking about girl's names but no hard discussion yet. We are definitely finding out the sex! I think we are going to have a list of names and when we see the baby then chose.

My pants are finally getting tighter :D :D Geez I never thought I would be happy to say that :D I did buy some preggy jeans this week! I love them. They are really modern...low hung with boot legs. I have very long legs so it is always difficult to find jeans that fit properly...but these fit like a glove. Not cheap but since I am not working anymore I live in jeans.

Have a great weekend 8)

Tracii, I have the same problem. Long legs and I always have to buy talls. You can't find too many tall pants, let alone maternity talls. I have one pair of jeans so far that I love. I figure I'll be living in capri length pants, gouchos and skirts this summer. Thank goodness it's not cold here during my pregnancy.

I have now gained 20 pounds. I really feel pregnant. I just love it!

Am I supposed to leave the 1st trimester thread? I just realized this is my favorite thread and I know most of you on it, but I'm about to turn 16 weeks.

Jeepers, Kirsti, theres a thought! Officially I can prance about on the second trimester bumps thread too! Yee haa!! Am hanging about here for bit longer too tho, too much fun hearing about the elation over fat pants and muffin rolls!

Daly your post made me laugh! You can change the name you know ;p I want to find out sex, was sure (yesterday) it was a girl, and then woke up today thinking it was a boy. DP doesnt want to find out at all! B*gger!

Had a mooch around baby shops, shopping for new mum friend (first time been able to step inside a baby shop since forever without a follow up 3 month deep depression!) So much amazing stuff, and kind of brings home the reality!

Hope your all well. Sue you around? What you been up too?

Gosh Mel, I know exactly what you mean. I still haven't stepped foot in the baby dept of any store yet!! Isn't that funny that we do that? At my 16.5 week scan this week I'm hoping doc can get a glimpse of the sex. I'm not holding my breath though. As soon as I know the sex then I'm going to start shopping.

Oh, Jessica, I'm feeling the babies move now! It's just like you described. I felt Baby B for 2 days and then Baby A decided to start too. What an amazing feeling!
