Hello,

After 2 fresh failed cycles my first FET worked and am 23 weeks now. So just hang in there and am sure things will work out. FET is much less stressful and less medications. So there is a high chance.

Take care and good luck

First Time FET..

Post by gen02 »

I am glad to hear that there is much hope for FET. I just completed my 3rd fresh cycle and got the bad news that we are not pg. I am staying positive, because I have 3 FE that looks good on paper : :) . They are all 8 cells. I hope to do this cycle in Dec' 06 or Jan'07. Have anyone ever done AH on FE? I have decided that this is my last try since I am quickly approaching 40 and I want to increase my chances.

Hello Janine
I go to IVF michigan as well. I see Dr. Shamma in Ann Arbor. He is a good doctor and I am happy with the clinic. I have just started my BCP's!!! wooo hooo! I got my calendar yesterday as well and I will be transfering on January 12th. I am so excited and happy.

Congratulations on your ER-how did it go? I hope that you are recovering well. I know it just makes you feel so tired after and sore. They are so good at the Rochester clinic though. Let me know.

Hi Ladies

I am also going for first FET in the mid of December . Right now I am on Suprefact Nasal Spray and Estrogen. I have retrieved my eggs in the mid of September. But at that time I was at the risk Of high OHSS. So Doctor told me not to transfer the Fresh Embryos. So we tooks about 2-3 months break. And now we are going for the FET .
I have ultrasound on 15 Dec .
Then Doctor will check the uterine linning . I f she finds everything okay , then she is going to transfer the embroys .

But exact situation will come out after the ultrasound.

So Let's hope for the best . But I am very scared now.

Any one have any idea like Do we need to get any precautions after the embryo transfer .

Do i need to take any time Off.

Hello
I am transferring soon as well and I will be doing an ultrasound on the 15th as well! I am transferring on a Friday and I will be taking it easy until Monday when I return to work. After much evidenced based research I could not find any that totally supports the use of complete bed rest. my clinic reccommends that you hang around for 24 hours and then back to regular activities. I am going to be doing that. I am so happy for you that you will be able to go in and get your babies! How many did you freeze? You must be so excited. When are they going to transfer? Keep in touch...

Hi, i'm not a first time success story but i just had to reply to this topic as FET was the way we went.
I, like a previous poster didn't get to transfer fresh embies as they collected 22 eggs from me and i was at risk of OHSS. I had to wait a few months for my body to settle down then went on to FET. My clinic let me do a natural FET as my periods were regular which meant i didn't have to take any drugs at all, they just done bloods every other day from day 10 to look for the surge then a couple days later they transfered the embies. My doctor said just to carry on as normal after the transfer but not to overdo it like go bungee jumping or anything like that  . I took the day after transfer off and went back to work the following day. After about a week i started cramping and 5 days before my test date i started bleeding heavy and just knew it hadn't worked. Unfortunately when i was tested on my test date it confirmed the negative.
We tried again the following month. I started cramping again after a week and i was sure it was going to be negative as everything i felt was exactly the same as my previous negative cycle. So when 5 days before test day came and i wasn't bleeding but still cramping bad i decided to do a sneaky test at home. Just seconds after i done it i really regretted it because i knew it was too early to test, but to my complete amazement the test came up with a faint positive. I done 4 more tests over the next few days and each one was positive. The clinic finally confirmed it for us. The only thing i done different was take a week off work after the transfer, i didn't have any bed rest, carried on doing normal everyday housework etc, i'm not sure if taking the time off helped or not but i think i was less stressed being home.
Our gorgeous daughter Kady is almost 7 months old now and is our pride and joy.
I just thought i would share my positive story with you all, FET does work. My clinic actually had a higher success rate with FET's over a fresh cycle.
So my advice is just carry on as normal, and do what you feel is best for you after the transfer, if you will feel less stressed going to work, then go but if you feel it will be more stressful then take some time off, a few days, a week or even the whole 2 weeks. I found a week was enough for me. My last piece of advice is just because you are cramping and feel like your period will start doesn't mean it is a negative result, i felt exactly that way on both cycles so in my case feeling periody and early pregnancy symptoms were identical.
I just want to finish up by wishing all you upcoming FETers all the best luck in the world.
Take care,
Lotsa love

Michelle

I am so sorry. I think that I missed your post. I am so sorry that you ended up with a negative. I know what you mean about hoping for the best with the frosties. When do you start? I hope that you can look forward to the new cycle with hope and excitement! I went to see Shamma on the 15th and I started my medications today. Let me tell you that the estrogen patch thing is really annoying. I dont like things stuck to my skin like that....Let me know how you are doing please. I was thinking about you tonight.

Tanya,
Its ok. I also have started my next cycle. I will be right behind you. Transfer is scheduled for Jan 26th. Today is the day for the depo lupron injection. Think I will have my husband do it to save a trip to AA. I will PM you, had an interesting meeting with Shamma. I have heard this FET thing is easier but to be honest my schedule if loaded. I wish you the best for the 12th. How does Shamma feel? Is he hopeful. We have decided we are using up the frosties then we are done. We have 6 so we hope we get two attempts at FET. I just can not put my body through too much more. Its tough. We are also active in the adoption world so something wil work for us.
Take Care and best of luck with this...

That is great that you started already! I was just wondering that from your PM. Anyhow I did my Lupron Depot at home as well. I didn't want to drive all that way just for that. I did it myself and it was easy. They make it so simple that a trained ape could administer the shot! I will be doing a beta test on the 22nd. I will also be keeping you in mind as you go through yours! Shamma said that 2 of the 3 embies look great and the third is so/so. He said he will know better when they thaw them the day of the transfer. We have to see if they make it and then how well are they growing. It gets my nerves going!!! Will they make it through the thaw? Will they start growing again??? Will they implant???? Lots of questions that only God knows! Talk to you soon.
