A miracle- there is hope

Post by bekkie31 »

Hi - this is really for those with unexplained infertility or for those like me, who had an ectopic pregnancy in one tube and only have one remaining tube left.

Basically I have been trying to conceive since 2000 - so six years. I had a fatal ectopic pregnacy in Feb 2005, which resulted in the loss of one tube (left ) and almost in my death. Since the ectopic it never worked with one tube to get pregnant - so me and my hubbie resorted to IVF in October 2006. After spending about 1,500 UK pounds on the treatment we ended up with an earth shattering BFN. But immediately afterwards in November 2006, I fell pregnant naturally. Although we got a BFN for the IVF I believe it helped in some way. I think all the IVF hormones and stimulation of the ovaries helped to kick-start my right ovary (which caused us problems getting pregnant with one tube, as it was lazy ). The transfer of the embryo may have helped too - as during the transfer I had sharp pain - so I believ my cervix was possibly partially closed and as they transfered the embryo it opened up the small closure in the cervix.

I know what happened to me maybe a bit more of a miracle and it may not work for everyone - but I believe if you are in my situation try to get pregnant immediately after an IVF- BFN!

And yes, I have been through six years of hell - two close work colleagues got pregnant, four lads who work in my department their wives fell pregnant, my sister recently fell pregnant, one of my best mates in the UK fell pregnant. It seemed over the six years that nothing would happen to me.. and of course, yes, I was getting older all the time.

I just thjought I would share this story as it may give some hope to some of you ladies out there.

Bekki

10 weeks at the moment.

I have had my first scan already and there was a heartbeat. All I can say is so far so good. I have a docs appojtment for tomorrow - a second scan and I will be issued with a pregnancy pass (something pregnant women get here in germany ).

Of course I have heard the first 12 weeks can be a bit touch and go - so although I am very happy, I do not think I will be able to relax until Iam out of the danger-zone.

I mean with me - I found out at about 9 weeks that I was pregnant - because I have had soo much bad luck I never believed that I could be pregnant. I assumed my body was trying to recover itself after the IVF and asumed that was why I had not had anymore AFs since the post BFN AF. It was another lady on the boards and my sister who badgered me into taking a HPT - I actually had purchased one but was terrified to use it - for fear of bad news. In the end they both persuaded me and I took the test at 1.00am and it was positive. Then I was off to the docs asap and found out the news. What I cannot believe is this happened IMMEDIATELY after my BFN! Unbelieveable!

Hey Welshgirl38!

Thanks for dropping-in to say hello. Good to hear from you again.
The doctor is still trying to decide which week I am actually in and whether
or not the baby is the correct size for the week. I am supposedly around 10weeks pregnant but by size the baby is 8 weeks :( I only have one ultrasound picture at the moment - I am supposed to get a proper picture next week. At the mo. the doctor has written me off sick as a precaution.
lets just pray I am not destined for more BAD LUCK. I think that is all we can do at the moment.

Take care - will keep you updated as the days go by - but the heart is still beating - not that that means the baby will stay.

LUV Bekki

Thanks all for the support. I always seem to forget those very important words of wisdom:
"What will be will be" and "if it is meant to be it will be". Sooo true and just too easy to forget.

I will post with more update on this on 25th January when i have my next appointment with the doc. So until then no news = good news.

Speak soon, Bekki

Just to let you know I had another scan today and the doctor was
pleased as the baby had put on a growing spurt since the last scan.
You can identify the head and tummy now - it is almost 4cm. I get a stomach ultrasound done
on Tuesday 30th - there I will be able to see everything in more detail.

So at the moment I am in the green. my blood tests etc.. all ok so far

Will let you know how things go on Tuesday.

Take care, bekki
