Basically I have been trying to conceive since 2000 - so six years. I had a fatal ectopic pregnacy in Feb 2005, which resulted in the loss of one tube (left ) and almost in my death. Since the ectopic it never worked with one tube to get pregnant - so me and my hubbie resorted to IVF in October 2006. After spending about 1,500 UK pounds on the treatment we ended up with an earth shattering BFN. But immediately afterwards in November 2006, I fell pregnant naturally. Although we got a BFN for the IVF I believe it helped in some way. I think all the IVF hormones and stimulation of the ovaries helped to kick-start my right ovary (which caused us problems getting pregnant with one tube, as it was lazy ). The transfer of the embryo may have helped too - as during the transfer I had sharp pain - so I believ my cervix was possibly partially closed and as they transfered the embryo it opened up the small closure in the cervix.
I know what happened to me maybe a bit more of a miracle and it may not work for everyone - but I believe if you are in my situation try to get pregnant immediately after an IVF- BFN!
And yes, I have been through six years of hell - two close work colleagues got pregnant, four lads who work in my department their wives fell pregnant, my sister recently fell pregnant, one of my best mates in the UK fell pregnant. It seemed over the six years that nothing would happen to me.. and of course, yes, I was getting older all the time.
I just thjought I would share this story as it may give some hope to some of you ladies out there.
