Orgalutron

Post by Minerva »

Hi

Currently on Day 7 of my cycle. I have been on Puregon from Day 3 and starting Orgalutron from today. I just had the Orgalutron injection and the injection area has swelled up to about the size of a quarter. Has anyone else had the same reaction for Orgalutron? Just wondering....

Sorry I forgot to ask the other question. I am also taking Metformin this time for about 4 weeks. I feel so bloated and strechted and have lost any appetite I had for food. I don't think these are symptoms of OHSS, as it may be too soon for those to appear. Has anyone else been on Metformin and have had the same type of symptoms as I have :?: .

HAPPY SUNDAY

Sorry I have been MIA. As warned, my parents were with us last weekend and have had a really busy week at work. Trying to buy myself some credit so I can take it easier when in cycle. Have read back to my last post so have tried to catch up with you all!!! Mega post coming on ladies...............

Minerva - welcome - sorry sweetie I cannot help as never taken Metaformin. If you are concerned then call the clinic. They'll have an emergency number. Better safe than sorry. I have taken orgalutran and found that the site around the injection can get red and sore. It usually passes for me quite quickly.

WISCONSINGAL - all the luck in the world for tomorrow. Sending you loads of baby dust

Sassy- fellow ranter - I so hope that it is a BFP for you too. You so deserve it hun. Crossing everything for you both

mumtojazzie - a wedding in three weeks and ivf. WOW! How exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time. Brave lady!!

wannababyIVF - I know exactly what you mean. I should be getting AF next Wednesday and I am like so keen for her to show up on time so I can get this show on the road. Hope that all is well and that you can get started very soon. I will be right behind you! I have heard of false -ves but not false +ves on hpts. Think that they just worry that we may get a -ve, give up hope and go on a bender! I have done hpts the last two times but then I started bleeding both times on day 11 post EC. I think this time I'll try not to test and just see if I can get past Day 11!? Saw your post a way back about where to inject. I was told leg or tummy - no difference. For me I thought that leg would be easier but when I plucked up courage and did one in the tummy - it was much easier and hurt way less. Must be all the fat!!!! Yuck

mominwaiting - grow follies, grow! I understand that sometimes they can really show a growth spurt so let's hope that this is what happens for you

Dexter - 10 follies of that size sounds good. They don;t want them too big as they are 'too' mature. Good luck for ER tomorrow. Hope that all goes well

2BABabyMaker - welcome - really sorry I have done 2 different protocols but not had to have estradil so cannot really help you. I am sure that one of the ladies will know. If not just call the clinic and ask. There is so much to take in. Good luck for your cycle

PXV - Welcome to the site. Any news on your bloods. Think that you tested on Friday? You must have news by now!???

Jen1d - hello to my old mucker - did not mean to make you well up with my comment about 2 lines on the tests. Glad that you are getting started. Let us know when you have dates. I think that I'll be on for EC/Et towards the end of Feb

Steph - as others have said. You'll be fine with the shots. Looking at them is the worse. They actually hurt less than you think. You'll be a pro before you knoow it!! I did acu once a week at the start. Then I was going just before ovulation and just before AF. In cycle he saw me pre-Af, on Day 6 of stimmies and then just before and right after ET. I found that it really helped me relax especially when the little ones came home! Just got back through the post and read about your future SIL. I am so surprised that you were able not to say anything. I did not tell people for cycle 1 at all. I found it an added pressure with the lies. We then told my parents when I had the tubal surgery. We have told some people - mainly me where I was sick of people asking about the no drinking - bed rest at particular times. ECYI's list of excuses is good but it is hard when this has been going on for over a year. I felt like Jen1d says that at least I was in control of who I tell. I have found for me that it has helped. But then again I have not told my two sisters as I think they'll worry for me and keep asking questions. I have misjudged and told a couple of people who have been v insensitive but I would say they are really the exception. I have made it v clear though that I'll only tell people what I want to tell them and that I am not up for answering questions. It is a tricky subject.............I guess each of us has to decide what is right for them and do what is least likely to cause stress. But the subject is ill understood other than by people who are actually going through it!

Angela- welcome - I was on Dec-Jan but right near the start. I also found that so many ladies were there that it was hard to keep up with everyone. I also needed sometime out after our 2nd -ve just before Xmas. Anyway, it is good to have you hear. My dh cannot do any of the jabs at all. I like being in control anyway! Would be nice if your dh could give you either the trigger or egg food. I sometimes feel that they are a bit left out!?

Julia - so sorry to read about your dh's ex wife. That is really rough. I am sure that it felt like a knife into you. I think that what you said about trying to stay close to our dh's is very important. 1st time through I was so obsessed. I guess that now I try to be a bit more relaxed about it all so that we can do/talk about other things but it is hard. Sending you hugs

Nerms - As you know, I am a complete believer in the acu even though I had for my 2nd cycle and the result was the same as the 1st time. It certainly helps relax me. Glad that it has been helping you too.

99 - good luck for ER which I think is due to take place for you tomorrow. Sending you the follie fairy!

Susan - sounds like our timing will be v similar. I don;t have to down reg this time. Straight into stimmies on Day 2 after AF arrives which should be next Thursday. If it is like last time then I should be at EC/ET by the end of the month.

Nimble - glad that you had a terrific 2wholiday. Beats a 2ww!!! I am sure that you are apprehensive after last time but I also found knowing what was ahead helped me control my nerves a little better on the 2nd go. We are here for you when you are ready & if you don't decide to jump on March thread instead

Charity - we all miss you. Thinking of you. Your words are always so wise. Hope that you & dh are having fun the old fashioned way

WOW. Think that is me caught up. That will teach me for getting 10 days behind! Sorry if I forgot anyone - did not mean too..........

So lastly to me. Had a really great weekend with my parents. Took them to see Connie in the Sound of Music which was fab. Avoided ivf chat until they were about to leave when they offered me my inheritance in advance to help us with tmt costs. Well that just set me off in a complete blubber fest! New business is going well which is exciting and taking my mind off tmt. Less stressful than last job which I left back last August so I could focus on me/us/tmt. Bought some of my drugs so I am ready to start shooting up when AF arrives. Should be going by next Thursday - only 10 days to go. WOW - seems to have come around quite quickly for me - think cause of Xmas, New Year and being busy over the last few weeks.

We have also put ourselves on the wait list for argc in London on basis that 3 cycles at 1 clinic is time to try something new. Costs of argc are so high but I have succumbed to their success rates. 22% at my age compared to 10% at my clinic (Hammersmith) for over 40 years. Heard wait list was at least three months so we were expecting to be seen in like May but we got the letter on Wednesday for our initial consultation on 1st March! So excited. That will probably be EC or ET day knowing our luck so will be at one clinic in the am and the other in the pm!!! OMG! So in good spirits right now as I have a plan for #3 and #4.

Please don't expect posts for me during the week as another busy one ahead for me but I shall be thinking of you all.

Lots of Love
Carolyn xxxx

15 eggs!

Post by Dexter »

Just a quickie ... (story of my life )..

Just got back from ER. Got 15 eggs and have to wait til 10am tomorrow morn to see how they're shaping up. Was told by one of the nurses there is a 10% chance none will fertilize as it's my first cycle and my eggs may be sending off negative 'receptors' to the sperm??? Just our luck I bet. Everything been smooth up to here. They said if so we would have to do ICSI on the next cycle. All those wasted eggs!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed that won't happen but am prepared for anything.

Am so releved that part is over. Wasn't half as bad as I imagined. Never been nder anaesthetic before so I was a little nervous but everyhting was dandy.

Fingers crossed for ET on Wednesday!!

Have a great week ladies,

Hi Ladies, I've been really busy lately, so I haven't had a chance to read all the posts that I missed. Which sucks because I really like to keep up on things and know what's going on with everyone. I'll try to keep up.

Minerva---WELCOME!!! You'll love it here. These ladies are awesome! I too took Metaformin. I dont think there is too much that I haven't taken. :-( But anyway, it made me sick to my stomach. I think I threw up the first two days I took it. Then after that I just felt naseous after that. I didn't have an appetite at all. The doctor told me that those symptoms would go away in about a week. It did. But I also stopped taking it after about a week. Went to see RE that said that I didn't need to take it and took me off it! I was soo happy. But try to hang in there. I hope it gets better for you. Try some tea and crackers. Peppermint tea and ginger tea worked for me. Also some flat ginerale. Oh yeah, take it at night if you can. That also helped some.

CaroylnB----WOW, we had the same thing happened. I dont remember what day I did the hpt with my first round of IVF. I actually think I blocked most of that experience out once I got the big fat negative. But I do remember getting my period on day 11 post ET. I will never forget that day. Kept trying to give myself hope saying there have been cases where women have been pregnant but still got AF. I knew deep down inside that it didn't work but I tried to convince myself that I might still have a BFP. :-( But nope, AF reared her ugly head and it was a BFN when I went to the dr and he did the test. I almost cancelled the appointment. I thought, what's the point of wasting time going to the dr to take a pregnancy test when I already had a full AF?!?!? But I did. :-( I'm with you. THis time I'm also going to stay away from the hpt if I can. It's hard. I dont have any right now. I'm going to try my best to not purchase one. I asked my dr about the tummy vs. the leg. He told me it didn't matter. He just said he thought it was easier for some people to do it in their leg than their stomach. I have black and blue marks all over my legs now. My niece sat on my lap today and I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. But I didn't say anything because I didn't want anyone to ask what was wrong. I'm afraid to try the tummy shots.

2BEABABYMAKER-----welcome!! This is my second round of IVF. We are doing everything the same but changing the very last shot that I get just before the Egg retrieval. I forgot what it's called. That is so sad. But anyway, I did BCP first because my cycle was irregular and we had to figure out when I would start AF so I could start Lupron a week before. So I started Lupron 1 week before AF. Once AF showed (which was Friday..YIPPEE), I went to the doctor to see if there weren't any cysts. No cysts so tonight I decrease my Lupron and start my HcG hormone. ON friday I have my 1st ultrasound to take a look at my follicles and also a BT. Egg retrieval is tentatively scheduled for around Valentines day. Then 5 days after that, back in they go. Then 2 weeks after that is the pregnancy test. But everyone's protocol is different. You just never know. But the ladies on here are full of info. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post here. I'll be glad to answer any questions you have, if I can. Or someone else will. That's the beauty of this place.

I start my two shots a night, tonight. Sounds better if I think about it in terms of liquor. I'd much rather be taking two shot of tequila. :P I'm so not looking forward to it. DH is on his way home now from a Superbowl party because I refuse to give myself two shots!!! Bad enough I have to take one. And if I remember correctly my Bravelle stings really bad when it's going in. Sometimes brings me to tears. Does anyone else who is taking Bravelle feel that way? Also does anyone else get really awful headaches with their shots? Also starting to get slight pelic pain. :-(

I'm really excited about this round. I am feeling very positive. But I keep struggling with the fact of thinking positive so positive things will happen. Or think negative so I wont be disappointed if I get the dreadful BFN agan. :-(

As I just described where I am in this cycle is their anyone else on the same schedule? I'd really like to know how they're feeling right now.

Hi CarolynB and wannababyIVF

Thanks for your welcome and your tips.

wannababyIVF, I will try the peppermint tea and the ginger tea. Lucky for you that you are off Metformin in a week, I have been told by my clinic that they want me to continue Metformin.

The orgalutron injections are getting a bit better now, there is swelling, but I think I am getting used to it. I asked the clinic today and was told to keep a ice pack on the injection site to see if that helps. Will try that as well.

I had my first scan today at my clinic, after starting the stims and there are about 12 follies, but a quite few of them are still small and the lead folli is about 14 mm, so still a long way to go on Puregon and Orgalutron.

Good luck Dexter, hope that they fertilise well, best of luck

I am amazed that you just had your ER and already feel like being online! Wow, you're very tough! I am VERY SCARED about my ER tomorrow. I had my HCG shot last night and it hurt so bad. It was without a doubt the worst part of this whole experience so far. Everything up until that HCG shot was not that hard so I think that really surprised me. So now I am sore from that and feeling a little queasy and worried about tomorrow's ER... Has anyone else done IM Progesterone injections every day after ER? I just don't know how I'm going to be able to walk for the next few weeks if I have to go through, everyday, an IM shot that is as painful as the HCG shot was last night... I know this is a temporary condition, though, I just have to keep reminding myself of that!

I wish you all the very best for your ER tomorrow. I have not been on progestrone injections before, so sorry I can't really give you any insights into that.

On our way, slowly but steadily

Post by Dexter »

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all your support and responses. It's great to read how everyone is getting on. Sounds like we all have different treatment types, I have never heard of Progesterone injections? I have been given vaginal CRINONE gel - 2 x a day for the next 2 weeks.

99, don't work yourself up about ER. Once that needle goes in the next thing you remember is drifting off to sleep. I had minor abdominal discomfort after, and some spotting, but nothing major at all. It is a relief to get it over with though.

Well ladies, got the call from the lab and we have 11 fertilized and I'm in for ET tomorrow morn 7.30am. I couldn't sleep last night for fear that we would get the call this morn saying none had fertilized, but geez we were lucky. I had a relatively high FSH of 10.4 eight months ago and was told I had decreased ovarian reserve which scared the hell out of me. I have been doing acupuncture for 3 months (once a week) and for me at 35 to get 15 eggs was somewhat of a surprise.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself here. I am still expecting the worse but keeping a neutral state of mind rather than a positive or negative. I have found this helps me to cope with the day to day results and reduse stress levels, if that is at all possible. I also took wheatgrass tablets for a month and drank some yucky berry concoction for a little while but was advised to give this all up once the drugs started.

Who knows??? Each day at a time. I keep walking around saying to DH "Guess what we've got 11 kids in the lab". So close yet so far. At least we may have some to freeze if this cycle falls by the wayside.

Lotsa luv,
Dex

MY NALA = WISCONSINGAL

OH MY GOD, WE GOT A BFP! I WAS AT PETCO, W/ MY BLACK LAB - NALA, WHEN I GOT THE CALL. I DIDN'T WANT TO BE W/ MY DH BECAUSE I DID A HPT AND IT WAS NEGATIVE, SO I THOUGHT FOR SURE THE DR. OFFICE WOULD SAY IT'S NEGATIVE. WELL, THEY DIDN'T, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I WAS CRYING SO HARD I COUDLN'T EVEN DRIVE I HAD TO PULL OVER AND GET MYSELF TOGETHER. GOD I'M SO MAD I DID THE HPT NOW, THOSE THINGS REALLY DON'T WORK. I HAVE TO GO BACK WED. AND FRI. TO TEST AGAIN, THEN THEY SAID SOMETHING ABOUT HAVING A U/S DONE, SO I THINK AFTER I SEE THAT I'LL BELIEVE IT, NOW IT JUST SEEMS SO UNREAL.

I CAN'T SAY THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH FOR ALL PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS AND SUPPORT THIS BOARD HAS GIVEN ME. I DIDN'T HAVE THIS THE LAST 3 ATTEMPTS BUT I'M SURE IT HELPED THIS TIME.

I HAVE TO RUN FOR NOW, I WANT TO FIND A FEW OTHER GIRLS ON THE BOARD THAT WERE TESTING TODAY, I'M SO PRAYING FOR ALL OF YOU THOUGH, AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE BFP'S!
