beta numbers

Post by Lis »

Hi

I just wondered if any one could tell me what numbers are generally expected on the beta test? Just curious.

I had mine done on Friday - 15dpo therefore technically 4 wks pg and my beta was 454. Some of the girls on the general forum have commented that this is very high, which of coure I am delighted at! Clinc told me they were looking for 50 or over so I ws a bit shocked when they told me the number and (esp as Xrayem who is pg with twins) said her 1st beta was 250 odd!

I know it doubles every couple of days but just wondered if there was any average or if it varies completely

Thanks xxx

Hi Lisa

Congratulations on your BFP!
A friend of mine has recently got pg with twins after IVF and her beta was 250! I know betas can vary, but for a first beta yours does sound high!
I wish you all the best for your pregnancy.

Take care
Love Kim

Hi again!

Just found a good website I used when I was pg.
Its www.betabase.info and explains about beta levels and gives you averages etc of beta levels. The levels vary a lot!

I had a beta of 412 12dp3dt and by all charts I could find it was on the top of the scale for twins but I am PG with a single (girl). It also more than doubled in 48 hours. Please try not to read alot into those numbers, just anxiously await that first scan :-) Good luck and Congrats!

Beta Numbers

Post by daniellewngs »

I just got the call from my Doctor and my second beta was 941 at 17 dpt. This seems kind of high, my first beta was 157 just 48 hours ago. Any thoughts on what this means, possibly twins???

Has anyone not had their numbers double in 24 hours and had a healthy pregnancy. My 1st number was 248 and today it was 446. I am only 50 off but I am concerned.

Thanks

Hi Tammy,

I'm pretty sure your numbers are supposed to double every 48-72 hours so I really wouldn't worry about yours.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Danielle your numbers sound very high - either multiple or a very strong pregnancy.

Hi there!

Firstly, congratulations and your number sound great!

You know, I'm of the opinion that numbers are only there so we can get hung up on them!!! The numbers are only a guideline and can mean so many different things. I to was at Edinburgh (great clinic!) and my numbers were high, although not quite as high as yours, and was also told it may suggest twins. However, we had one strong healthy boy to be thankful for. With my last pregnancy, my numbers were checked after spotting and they were much, much higher in comparison - so much so they say 'come in to see what exactly is going on in there!' Again though, there was one healthy baby.

So, you can understand how I feel about numbers  On saying that, I've heard of people who have lower numbers with twins. Go figure!!!!!

Hope all goes well with you

My hcg levels were off the charts.

one week post transfer it was 250.
11 days post transfer it was 1400.

My numbers weren't even on the charts. We were worried that maybe both split and implanted...but we've got just two on the way.

Hi, congrats on your great numbers! I am having one little girl in about a month, and my numbers were very high. I had 671 at 14dpo and 1526 at 16dpo. I was convinced that I was going to have twins due to the high numbers, but we have the just the one. My doctor told me that the high numbers don't always indicate twins, but they do usually mean it is a very strong pregnancy. Congrats again, and let us know when you find out.
