Did not go to Dallas to have IVF, but did go to San Antonio. If you want more information from there let me know. GREAT clinic there.
I live in North Texas, so I had to travel quite a bit, but it was well worth it:)

I would be interested in where you went for your IVF in San Antonio, I too am from North Texas (Dallas) and went to OKC for my IVF. Did you go to Wilford Hall in San Antonio, I was told by my Dr. they will do military for free with just the expense of your meds. I instead paid cash for IVF since Tricare pays nothing and I did not want to travel that far. If this does not work, I may reconsider.

7 failed IUI's
1st IVF 2/24-on 2week wait

I go to a clinic called South Texas Women's health Center. My doctor is Robert Schenken. He is the president (or at least 3 years ago he was) of the IVF stuff for the world. He goes all around giving lectures, etc. He is AWESOME!!! His whole clinic is.
If you want more info, let me know. I am headed down there today to have some polyps removed, so will be gone and without internet until Wednesday, but feel free to pm me. I can give you any info. you need.
I cannot stress enought how AWESOME this whole clinic is. I saw every doctor there, and they all made you feel like you were their #1 concern. The nurses were wonderful as well.
Good luck:)

IVF Clinic at Texas

Post by Ann_USA »

Hi hrobinson,

Thanks for your reply! Do u know there website or contact information. So for your IVF you usually travel to San Antonio from North Texas? Or you stayed there when they did ER and ET? Would like to know more about your clinic.

Also anybody heard about Presby ART program? Dr. james Douglas or Dr. Brian Barnett? I heard Dr. James Douglas was in U.S News as one of the best doctor? Did anybody had experience with him?

I do not know much about Dallas or San Antonio, but I am in Houston and I had a great clinic. My OB helped us beat the odds and we are now 24+ weeks with our little miracle. The clinic is called Center for Women's Medicine and the DR is Michael Allon. I have endometriosis, and I am also pre-menopausal. I responded poorly and still managed to get pregnant. Dr Allon was great and he seemed to specialize in hard cases. Other clinics turned us down, but not Allon. Good luck no matter what you decide. If nothing else, you could call him and assk for a good clinic in your area.

God Bless

Hi Ann,

We are actually in the Presby ARTS Program and Dr. Douglas is our doctor :P We went through orientation in January. Dr. Douglas and his staff are great. After several failed IUI's, we took a break from the meds and decided on IVF in 2007. This is all new to us... we just started Lupron 2 weeks ago and will start stims this Sunday. When do you plan on doing IVF?

I did my IVF with Dr Brian Barnett at Presbytarian Hospital in Plano, TX. As you can see from my ticker, it worked for us on our second try! I'm having twin boys. I had a great experience both with the doctor and the hospital. I especially like Dr Barnett's nurses, they were so nice and supportive.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions.

I had my IVF done at Wilford Hall Medical Center [Military Hospital] my husband's in the military and we're stationed nearby so it was all luck. We got pregnant after our first IVF so they're good. I heard they're extremely good. =)

Wilford Hall

Post by daniellewngs »

My husband is in the military as well and my Dr. in OKC had recommended that we go to Wilford Hall after our 7th failed IUI so we can move on to IVF. We are at Ft. Sill OK. so San Antonio was not an option. As you know TriCare does not cover any costs associated with IVF, so we paid cash, drove an hour and a half each way and now have a mountain of debt and from not having any symptoms, I predict no baby (we test tomorow).
My husband retires in a few months and we are moving back home to Dallas and therefore WH would be a possible option should we try again...would you please share your experience at WH. I did hear it is a year wait and a $4500 co-pay for ICSI, I really don't have much more to go on and any info you can provide would be appreciated.

daniellewngs-
sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. Just got back from san Antonio, having polyps removed. I understand what you mean by travel being a factor. My dh and I travel 450 miles (one way) just to see Dr. Schenken in San Antonio. We first got aquainted with him when I was diagnosed with endometriosis. At that time I was living in Austin, so SA wasn't too far. However, I did not use Schenken for my treatments as he had never treated endo on the lungs or diaphram. However, after we got that under control and still didn't end up pregnant I contacted Schenken. He was wonderful. Unfortunately, we didn't start any treatments until after we had already moved to the Wichita Falls area.
I don't know about Schenkens office paying anything for military...would be worth lookign into. We paid cash up front and it was tough, but worth it in the end. So much so that we are going to start going through it again in a month or so.
Our travel isn't so much of an issue because DH and I are both teachers, so we just do it on our summer vacation. Fortunatly, we have family that we can sort of tolerate that lives within 45 minutes of the clinic, so that helps.
Also, I am sure you know, but all your travel, motels, gas, etc. are tax deductible. We have sure kept every receipt.
Anyhow, I have never been on Dr. Schenkens web site, so not sure exactly what it says, or if it is worth it but here goes: www.uthsca.edu
Here is there phone number: 210-567-7575 or 1800-272-7859
if you happen to call it is best to address all questions to Brenda. Debby is wonderful, but I think Brenda is more knowledgeable.
I hope that you IVF worked this time. Please keep us posted. We will be praying for you. If you have any questions feel free to pm me:)

I had my treatment done at the Center for assisted reproduction in Bedford and they have an office in Frisco. My Dr was Dr Rehman, the most wonderful Dr I have ever met in my lifetime!!!! And I am not just saying that cause it worked. He is very personable, you are not just a # to him, he makes almost all his calls personally, not from his staff. He makes sure all your questions are covered, and he is sensitive to your needs and concerns. He is going to leave the clinic after the summer but here is the # at the clinic 817-540-1157. Good Luck on everything!!!
