2ww not easy!!

Post by denee »

Hello Ladies,

I just came off my 4th ivf cycle...I'm new to the board but am wondering what your stories are.

I don't have tubes and the RE's say everything else looks good. They cannot figure it out. I removed a fibroid after a chemical but nothing ever stuck other than that.
The two week wait is so hard not sure why. I tried to keep busy and tell myself that I don't care but then we are to be positive...my guess is if it happens it happens.

I'm not sure if I will proceed. I'm 38 and funds are low. My meds were also $2,500. We don't have insurance either...two cycles this year. To old for shared risk...

Let's see on the two week wait..i was so miserable because of the progestrone. Nobody, knows at work so most the time i'm busy trying to act normal without falling asleep.

Good luck....hoping to see 2 big BFP!!

Denee - I'm also on my 4th IVF cycle and in the beginning of the 2ww - it's hard - having invested so much into this (it's all out of pocket for us, too) it's hard not to obsess - but I figure that if it works (finally!) then the 9 month wait (or, by the time 2ww over - 8 months) will be a bigger challenge.... so - hopefully being "veterans" at this gives up some perspective... how did your transfer, etc. go? we xfr's SAT and wetn with 4 embies of varying grades & sizes.... Figured at round 4, multiples is the least of my worries!

Good luck, and stay in touch.

Shanbeanie- Thanks sooo much for good wishes and keeping me in your thoughts. I wish it is twins it would be great...
I wish you all the best for your test 6 days later.
It was funny after I came back from work yesterday my husband expected us to celebrate but i came home spent some time with him/wrote a quick note to you guys and then just dozed off for 2 hours. I just woke up to eat a quick dinner and hit the bed again. I was sooo tired.
Today i still feel bloated, there is some cramping in the lower abdomen. I go my secoond test tomorrow morning. I will keep you posted.

Kia1973- I did not do any HPTs and I am glad in a way i did not because HPT would have confused me unnecessarily.

Carisa - Best of luck for your test!!!!

My husband is really concerned about the baby aspirin my RE has advised. He insists i should stop taking them. Are you guys still taking them?

I am so happy for you, and I hope that your numbers continue to go up as they should. I dont know about the baaby asa, I am taking mine, but I have not tested yet.
I called Re office today to ask if there is anything besides tylenol that I can take for a headache (which she said no, not really) and I asked about testing on Friday (the 13th) so she said that was fine, so I will test Friday. I hope that the fact that it is friday the 13th is not a bad sign!!!!!

Hi Shanbeanie,
Sorry could not post yesterday. I tested yesterday and my level was 977. Thank God! I have to go for my first ultrasound next thursday where they would determine if the embryos have implanted in the right area etc. They may also get some idea about twins as well. They would know for sure in the second US in about 3 more weeks.
I wish you all the best for your test tomorrow. Don't worry and stay positive :D

Carisa/Kia - any news?

Hi,
I am on my 4th day since ET, which was done on Fri 13th (no, not reading anything negative into that!), and trying to get max rest as possible...but its driving me nuts.
This is my 2nd ICSI cycle - unexplained fertility on my part (apparently ovulation is a bit schizo!) and DH has low sperm count and motility...1st cycle was a BFN :(

Its really encouraging to read the forum b'cos it shows so many of us are joined together by this emotional roller coaster we have embarked on!

I have some mild stomach cramping, but breat soreness is very mild (to almost non-existent), so I am trying to stay +ve. Dolly 123, reading through your thread really encouraged me as symptoms seem similar and you have a BFP! I was feeling really down today as my tiredness seemed to have subsided today!! (Its crazy that we are feeling good about feeling bad!) Do you know whether its twins yet? Fingers crossed..What wouldn't we give for that!!...

I live in the UK (and most of you seem to be in US), so my transfer was done 48 hrs after ET (before it would hv reached blastocyst stage - essentially at 4 cell stage)...are we crazy across the continent or what??! Plus we are not provided any beta blood tests of HCG tests...just an evil pee stick at the end of 2 weeks!!
Good luck to everyone on this cycle...I do hope we all beat the odds!

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here & so glad I found this site. I'm in the 2WW & agree, it is very hard at times to concentrate on work. I usually make it until about 3:00pm, then my eyes glaze over & I get really stressed out & tired. My pregnancy test is on Sunday. This is our 2nd attempt at IVF. The 1st time was also had FET, but no luck. This time they got 20 eggs, 14 fertilized, transferred 3. Not sure how many they were able to freeze, I'm hoping I won't have to use them.
I've been experiencing the same symptoms some of you have mentioned, & also agree that at this point it's probably just the progesterone.

Hi Dolly---
Congrats on your rising Beta. I havent been posting, because as I am sure you may have guessed, my beta last Friday was BFN (Again :( )
Had consultation today with RE, doesnt really understand my situation--says that I have outstanding embryos, ones that she calls text book.......so she is suggesting that DH and I have Karotyping done (chromosome testing) and is also suggesting PGD to be done on next cycle prior to transfer. The problem with that is that it is an exta expense of 4,000 and we of course pay out of pocket, so I just dont know if it is going to be financially possible, since we are into this for about 30,000 as it stands now. Thank god it's shared risk, but still, I still need to come up with the 4,000 now. SOOOOO, my journey contines down a road that seems never ending.............be ever so thankful that you were able to achieve your BFP on your first cycle!!! What a blessing for you!!!
Take care and please keep in touch!!! I am going to keep hoping against hope that the 5th time is the charm for me. :?

Hi Shanbeanie,
I sooo sorry to hear about your test. I am with you...you should keep trying and not lose hope. Would you be starting in the next cycle?

The one thing i would suggest is bed rest (which I am sure you would have done anyways but just my 2 cents) for 4 days after transfer. It worked out for me because my ET was Thursday and i got the weekend and did not have to take all 4 days off from work so i rested Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun. I was lying down 95% of the time for those 4 days after ET. Who knows how these things work but i feel this may have helped.

You are right i do feel blessed for now but have my fingers crossed that i can take the baby to term safely.

dilni_f and 2ndtimer welcome to the board. Wishing you all the best!!! dilni_f - I do not know if it is twins but may get some idea on Thursday. I will keep you posted.
