Ummm and I also have a quick question....are any of you ladies having occasional pain in the uterus area or just off to the sides, sometimes it feels like AF pain and sometimes not. I also have developed a bit of lower back pain today... Thanks Fee

Thanks Karen and Fee!

Fee, I know exactly what you mean by living for the scans... I hope that'll get easier once I can feel the movements... but nothing as of yet. The pains you're describing sound familiar - I had that sort of pain in my first trimester, then it went away for a couple of weeks and now it's been back for about a week. I think it signifies my uterus really starting to expand as the baby is growing fast now that all the vital organs are done and it's all pretty much about getting bigger. Just today I read somewhere that although these are the wonderful weeks of having energy and a natural high, it's typical to feel "achy" in the lower abdomenal region. And of course there are the random tugs and pulls and round ligament pains, sometimes milder and sometimes sharp and shooting. The joys of pregnancy :D

Fee-Not a day goes by that I don't have a pain of some sort or another. It's scary as sh**, huh? This pregnancy thing might very well be the death of me, with all this worry!!!!!!!

Thanks Rae and Mego for the reassurance. I'm hearing you Meg about finding something new to worry about each day....If this doesn't kill us it will age us horribly. Have to stop worrying, have to preserve our looks (or what's left of them). that will be my new mantra...Fee

Hi ladies!

Fee, nice to read you here! I have been have pains in my lower area since around 12-13 wks. That's about the time I noticed my bump first poping through too. I assume it's round ligament pain. I usually get those pains when standing up from squating or sitting low. I feel more pains now that I seem to be growing faster. I also feel a lot of itching. Vit E oil and body butter helps a lot.

Is anyone else starting to prep for the baby(ies)? DH and I are almost done painting the nursery. :D We did a light yellow color on the walls and on the ceiling we did a cloud-scape. It seems early, but an pediatrition advised us to paint at least 6 mo before putting the baby in the room to make sure the odor is completely gone (we are using a low odor paint). He also said that there are toxic odors in toys and furniture and we should allow plenty of time to air those out before the babies arrive. It's nice to see the nursery get started. I can really visualize my babies in there now. Next we are taking out the carpet and putting in pergo floors. :)

Hey Mia! Great to hear from you. I'm jealous that you're so far on your nursery--I've got most of mine picked out, but am having to buy it a little at a time as I seem to have picked out the most expensive of everything :? Oh well, it's so much fun, isn't it? We're going with yellow and green and a little accent of rose since we found out it's a girl. I don't want to overwhelm her with pink, which I think is easy to do with a girl!

I'm so excited because I've started to feel her move! It's been for about a week now, but at first I was unsure whether it was actually the baby or my imagination. But now I'm sure. It's such a cool feeling!

Hope you're all doing well. Anything exciting coming up this week for anyone?

hey Meg, I'm with you on the "pink". Besides I don't want to feel like someone spit up pepto bismal everywhere when I walk in there. I happen to like yellow and I feel that we are safe with those colors. There is a chance we'll have boy and a girl living in there. I think if we find out it's girl twins, I'll add accents of lavendar. I haven't really picked out bedding or a theme yet, so your ahead of me there. I was thinking of a baby jungle animal theme, not sure though. Good for you on picking the most expensive things. If you can do it, why not? You and your baby deserve it. :D

I think I might have felt the babies move too. I can't be sure because it just feels like brief fluttering and tickling. :)

Sounds like everyone is doing so well! That is just great to hear! We are all going through so much of the same things. I know what everyone means by being a little crampy. I have felt that tugging feeling and this week I think the babies just started to thrive because I feel like I'm being stretched in my ab muscles for sure! I have finally gained 6 lbs. WHOOHOOO! Last night the baby on the right was doing cartwheels at 3 am and did not feel like sleeping. :? Better get used to it huh?

Since I am in the decarative business I will say that it's so true to let your nursery air out as long as possible before the babies arrive. Paint, furniture, and carpets give off a tremendous amount of VOC's. It stands for "volital organic compounds" but they are NOT safe at all. Also, if you live an older house with lead based trim paint, it is best to have it stripped and repainted by a proffesional before the baby. I actually know of a case where a baby could pick the window ledge paint from her crib and the parents didn't notice her doing it and now she is mentally challenged because of lead poisoning. So, not to scare anyone but babies pick at chipping paint and wall papers they can reach. I'm yet to see a nursery with a wall paper boarder that was in reach of a child and isn't torn off somewhere. Those glues are toxic as well.

Pergo or hardwood is a great idea. We are also replacing the carpet in the babies room. It's an easy way to help avoid future allergies as well. When I design nurseries or children's rooms it's important to remember that they love anything that is not a toy and will have the little fingers to pick at it until satisfied. Anchors on the back of tall dressers that make it impossible to tip are really important. Chilren love to open drawers and use them for ladders. Cutting long window cover strings and putting stiff hinges on toy boxes are great safety tips.

I think I'm getting carried away here but I can't help it. This is part of my career. Sorry!

Hope everyone is well and happy with growing tummies!

Hi ladies,

I am hesitantly joining you as I got a BFP on 4/26, beta was 67 and 2 days later it was 108 which did nt exactly double. Dr. said I am still in range and it doubles 48-72 hrs, so maybe I should have waited the 72 hours because now I am panicking as I had a miscarriage in February. Those numbers were alot lower than these.
If all works out I will be having the best Christmas ever.
Dear God, Please not again....

Lisamarie~ Congrats on the BFP! Just keep the faith and don't get too panicked. After all, you have a little one in there who needs all the PMA you've got! I will be thinking of you and hoping everything goes well. It can't be easy to suffer a m/c and then not be nervous. Take care of you and that little one. . .or two!

Lisamarie! Congrats and welcome. Don't you hate beta numbers? I think it's a case of us knowing way more than we should. Most women don't even know that they're pregnant at that stage, let alone what a beta is. Try not to worry about it (I know,...) and enjoy!

Lisamarie, congrats and welcome!! I know it's hard to trust anything after a M/C, but things seem to be going well for you now. Betas can drive you crazy and it's the scans that will really tell you what's going on. I hope you have a wonderful and healthy pregnancy this time around - and it's good to have you with us here!

Ladies, I'm speechless after reading about your nurseries, plans for nurseries etc. I don't have thing yet, nor have I even started looking... Before this baby we'll have to move - I don't know whether it's going to be Europe or here - and so I have no clue what kind of a place we'll have or even where I'll give birth.... Oh dear, now I'm starting to feel stressed... I'm sure we'll have to do everything at the last minute.

One thing that I'm well prepared for, though: books. I already got my books of nursery rhymes that I've started reading to my tummy as well as traditional songs that I'll sing. I'm a reader so I guess this is the top thing on my mind - never mind the shirts and blankets and cribs... Oh poor baby boy :D

Congrats LisaMarie~ I bet you will sleep a little sounder tonight. I'm really excited for you. Take care.

Rae~ You crack me up! We too have nothing yet but a TON of books! I joined a childrens book club years ago to start building a collection of books I love and now it's overflowing. I am such big reader also. We may have to exchange book ideas?? Well, I guess we now have 1 blanket, 1 sleepytime soft toy thing, 1 diaper bag, and about 100 books. We are going to get really busy as soon as we know what they are. But if all fails, don't worry Rae. You'll find that you have everything you need and nothing else matters as long as that baby gets here safe and sound.

Hope everyone is well. I'm off to get dinner on the BBQ.
Take care~

Hello, this thread has been soooo quiet. How is everyone doing? everyday my baby bump seems to be a little bigger. It's so exciting how quickly they are growing now! Things have changed. Right after starting the nursery, we got a notice that our mortgage payment is to increase by$700 a month!! Some sort of tax assessment for the following year. That is undoable especially with 2 little people on the way, so we are selling and moving. I'm not happy about it, but it is what it is.
