Retrieval NOW, Transfer LATER

Post by karma_k »

In March I had a BFN and my body didn't react well during the 2ww; I had lots of cramping, overly extended belly, and the first menses was sooo utterly painful that I questioned this entire process. So, this time my RE wants to only retrieve the eggs and wait 2 months for the hormones to get out of my system...he says last time I was overstimulated w/ hormones which is what caused the big belly and bad menstral cycle. He's also going to change the protocol because I guess my body couldn't handle all those meds.
Has anyone been successful separating the IVF process like this?...retrieving your eggs, then waiting to do the transfer?

My clinic does it all the time. Good success with it, too.

I had my ER in March and froze them all for the exact same reason. My body did not react well to all the stims. I had 3 embies put back in May and I got my positive result this week! I go for my first ultrasound on Tuesday. I was a little nervous at first but all my research showed the FET success rate was just as effective if not more than a routine IVF cycle. The FET is less invasive and isnt as hard on your body to tolerate.

rikirees,
Congratulations! :D
Ok, now that news makes me feel better. I start the Lupron after my next period (around June 4th), then we'll go from there.

Just an FYI:
For my last cycle I only used Lupron instead of the HCG trigger. My Dr. said not to take Lupron as a downreg and that the HCG was what was causing the prob. Apparently HCG doesnt work well with PCOS patients.
