WHOA!!! I have not checked on y'all in 2 days and it has been really busy in here! I don'y have long to write...because I am suppose to be on vacation for the weekend, but I missed everyone's news and slipped away to read! HEHEHE...

Sophie...I would definitely take the weekend off and relax. Your mind is not going to be concentrated on patients. PAMPER YOURSELF!!! On another note, I noticed that you said you have 4 sleeping beauties...then why the frssh cycle, if you don't mind me asking???

Gbnut...I am a little confused on why you asked me if I have ovulated yet...Is that something that is suppose to happen before an FET cycle?

Tpiper55...YEAH your cycle has begun!!! It is probably one of the few times you are excited that your period is here!!! Funny comment that your husband said...but true!!!

Arizoniakiwi...congrats on your transfer!!! That is AWESOME!! June 5th will be here soon!!!

Ltaylor...YEAH for you!!! Glad AF came and you can begin your journey!!! You are going to be right behind me with your FET. My FET should be sometime next weekend.

Okay...gotta go. Sorry I didn't get everyone! My husband is calling me. I'll be back on Monday! Have a good LONG weekend!!!

Goooood morning ladies! :D How are you guys doing today?

HEY! It's the weeeeeekend! :D

Sorry... I think I'm flying a little high... I read your last posts while eating a big bowl of banana French toast swimming in maple syrup plus a cup of hot chocolate...

Image

I'm doing real well, as you can guess. I had a nice special time with my DH this morning, trying to appreciate every second of it since it will probably not happen again till June 14th! Or more! (well, can't now before EC, then it hurts, then it's ET...) Isn't it the best way to begin the weekend? *sigh* It makes me think about the first year of our relationship, when we didn't live in the same cities... geez, sometimes we'd have "breakfast" at 2pm because we stayed in bed too long! LOL

I gave myself the usual shots this morning. Hehehe I really hope that it was the last time! EVER! So I can move on to trigger and then begin even more painful shots, lol! Ah, well, injecting in the tush will change places at least! Novelty, yay! :D We don't have any special plans this weekend, other than going to the clinic tomorrow, and planting the tomato plants my DH bought yesterday. I will most probably go through my unfinished cross-stitch projects and see which one I attack! ;)

And by the way, I will cancel those clients on the day after ET and I'll postpone them all to the following weekend. They had been warned after all, and it's not like I postpone for a month. It's not that I won't be able to focus, on the contrary. I saw 4 patients on the very night of my last ET and it went fine. I saw patients right after break-ups, fights with loved ones, shocks, big joys, and so on. Doing therapy usually has an incredibly calming effect on me, because I have this capacity to just go into another mode. Those who see me in therapy mode and in normal mode see a difference. It's as if a natural switch goes on and off. However, I think I must pamper myself that weekend, and take it easy. This time, I'll play the princess for real. After all, the problem occurred at implantation last time, and I must take presure off my shoulders. I'll just wait until tomorrow so my EC (and ET) dates are confirmed, and then I'll call my clients.

...HA! I just got a call from my clinic! Apparently, I'm the only one coming for a u/s tomorrow and the doctor wants to sleep longer for a change and LOL they asked me to come at 8:30am. Wonderful; that means we'll sleep, too! ;)

hrobinson: honestly, I think intramuscular vs subcutaneous might not matter that much. At my clinic, they give us a sheet with injection sites on the arms, thighs, and tummy. The only meds-specific recommendation they give is for Repronex; given that it stings and irritates the skin, they tell us that many women report less discomfort when injecting in the tummy. But that's it. So far I've been on Lupron, Puregon and Repronex. I always inject Repronex in the tummy, but injecting Puregon or Lupron in the thigh or tummy was absolutely painless 97% of the time. I just didn't try the arm because then my DH would have had to do it and I prefer to do the injections myself. I still don't know where they'll ask me to inject the Progesterone (PIO), but I think most people do it in the tush. I don't know who gave this advice and if it was on this thread, but putting ice on the injection site for about 10 minutes before the injection, then inject, then sit on a hot water bottle for about 10-15 minutes helps lessen the pain (ice) and facilitates absorption (heat) so you suffer less and don't have bumps, or very few. ENJOY THE TIME OFF! YAAAAAY! :D

My2LnT: heeeeey look at those fab numbers! :D Looking forward to have news in that department tomorrow! :D You must be impatient to have that u/s!

Jul1e: it's SO GREAT that your hormones behaved themselves mood-wise! It must have made quite a difference on the type of week you had! :D Woohoo on the nice follies! It's so great that you're exactly on the same schedule! ;) I take it that you won't trigger this weekend, if you go back to the clinic for an u/s on Monday? Or do you go for EC? Okay, about ET at 2,3, or 5 days... I tried to do a quick Medline search, but found little info. They probably tested it, though. But like the other said, it really depends on the embryologist's skills to have the embies survive longer in the petri dish... plus the quality of the embies of course. My clinic used to do the same as Tanya's. They looked at your embies on day 2 and decided if you came for ET on day 3 or 5 depending on their strength. I still thought it was the case on my first IVF. But right before EC, the nurse told me that, after they had accumulated enough data to make a valid analysis, they found no difference in success rates between day 3 and day 5 ET. She told me that the best place for an embryo to develop is the womb anyway, and now they systematically do day 3 transfers and freeze at that stage (though they would adapt for special cases of course). But like the others said, it depends on your clinic (if they systematically do day 3, think about it, and freeze on that day, they don't have to pay the embryologist for those two extra days...) and on you, too. And on your embies. And some real low grade embies or very young embies developed into beautiful healthy babies, too, so I guess it's almost a personal choice.

ltaylor: woooohooo! Congrats on AF's visit! Isn't it exciting? YAY! Hehehehe thanks for your kind words! And I guess.. grow lining, grow! :D

TansRN: OH GOSH I LOVED that comment about Angela getting worse! LOL!   Thank you so much for understanding my initial disappointment! :) You're precious! (and by the way on Thursday I sneaked into the Jan babies thread and saw you had posted and it was soooooo cute to see you there! yaaay!) And the RV trip sounds absolutely fun and beautiful! You're gonna have so much fun! :D And you'll probably show a little bit by then, too! :D Nice pics!! (ahem, or you'll just look fat... ah, well! LOL)

arizonakiwi: Hello sweet pea! I'm glad to know you're feeling better! Coughing is definitely worse then congestion, even if neither is fun. At least you can sleep! :D Your DH sounds like a biiiiiig baby! :D Hehehe but he deserves to be proud of his boys indeed! They did such a good job! Please give us news about your remaining embies! You're SO LUCKY to have a photoooooo! Awww, I wish I had one and I could see two eyes and a mouth, too! (LOL) And I found that image of him talking to your belly absolutely beautiful and sweet. ooooh you're going to be pampered! And you deserve it so much, you've been through a LOT! Yes, it looks like our grandmas are very much alike; aren't they just amazing role models? I really, really want to be like her when I'm her age. And Angelaaaa... ack! You gave me my own medicine! What would I advise my patients to do? LOL I'd tell them to stop feeling so responsible and dutiful all the time an cut themselves some slack for a change, because they'd especially need it in a time like that. THERE! :D And yes, I remember what I told you, and that made me think about you... my body is doing what it can, and hehehehe it's teasing me indeed, but it's okay. Your words were extremely comforting and I'll put them in my pockets! :D

pat: yay on the cold being away! Glad you're feeling better! :D Like Tanya said, I really hope you start feeling worse very soon!

tpiper: OH, LOL! I laughed SO HARD at your DH's comment! LOL LOL LOL! I gotta share that one! It's priceless! :D Don't worry too much about your clinic, hunny. They will take how far along you are in your cycle into consideration when they interpret the results They won't compare your results to a day 1 if you're on day 3! ;)

gbnut: oh my.. I'm really sorry that you're in so much pain! Can you call your clinic? I remember progesterone giving AF pain in so many women... spotting, as long as it's spotting, does not mean you're having AF sweetie. It's just that that pain really sounds bothersome. It hope it's only temporary and that, with rest, you'll feel better. Hang in there darling; your test is coming. *HUGS*

Okay, gotta update that list! Take care ladies!

Dear Marsha,

I'm so sad to learn the news! I know the feeling... doing all this, going through so much and then have a negative result is really hard to take. My thoughts and prayers go to you and your husband. I promise, though, it does get better with each passing hour. For now, just let yourself grieve your cycle, your embies, and do pamper yourself in every way you can. I'm sending you loads of hugs and give us news when you feel like it. Right now, everybody understands you need to be quiet for a while.

The dream is not over, you know... *hugs* "just" sadly postponed for a while.

jen: looks like we posted at the same time. To answer your question... to make a long story short: we have four frosties. Two are perfect, strong embies, the other two are quite fragmented. Usually, when you freeze your embies, you have 50% that die at freezing, 50% that die at thawing. So with those rates, we expected the two fragmented embies to die before we even got to transfer stage. Then, with FET, my clinic does assisted hatching for free as a courtesy and it boosts their success rates, but even with that, the sucess rates are only 10-25%. So, even if by miracle 2 frosties made it to transfer, and I became pregnant with FET, it was veeery unlikely that I would have twins. We want two children. I would have had to go through a fresh cycle again anyway for our second child. Making an attempt at FET... we didn't have a good feeling about it given the success rates and we had the impression that we might be wasting precious time. We immediately started feeling better after making the decision to do a fresh cycle.

At my age, in my condition, a fresh cycle gives me 50% chances. Even higher now that they have experience with me, since it's my second cycle. So we figured it was better for us to do it right now, freeze the remaining embies if there are any, and then see if I get a BFP, with a singleton or twins. If I have a BFN, then we might have enough embies to give ourselves 2 shots at FET, at least one. If I have a BFP and a singleton, then we don't have to go through the whole process when we want a second child. If I have twins... then we'll most probably have to say goodbye to our frosties (my DH really wants two max), but I won't feel guilty. That risk was there with trial #1 anyway (that we would have too many frozen embies). So there you go.

Take care,

Sophie

ltaylor, that's great, you're on your way!

Steph, thanks for your opinion, ooh, it's so confusing! I have a feeling about the 5 day so if I can I think I will.

Tanya and Susan, thanks for your info on the 5 day transfers, I've taken a copy of what you've said to go armed to the embryologist on Monday. Not long to go Susan, lots of baby dust to you.

Angela, sounds like you're nice and relaxed and you obviously have a lovely hubby looking after you. The 5th isn't really that far away!

Toni, I wouldn't worry too much, the clinic will know what's what, double check with them on Tuesday. I liked your hubby's jerk off comment! LOL.

Jen, not long til your fet, we'll be 2wwaiters together methinks :)

Soph, it sounds like you're much chirpier now, that's good. You're nearly there! I won't be triggering until Monday at the earliest now. I'm getting uncomfortable now so am sure I'm on my way. Thanks for your info on the 3 vs 5 day transfer - it's just sooooooooooo confusing isn't it? I'll just need to see what the man says on Monday.

I've been working last night and all day today and am absolutely knackered so am going to do very little with what's left of the weekend. I'm getting a bit sore now so am sitting with my jeans undone watching the tv - most lady-like! DH wanted to go to the movies tonight but I'm afraid the biggest move I'll make tonight will be upstairs to have a bath.

Enjoy your weekend ladies.

Angela – OMG, that is soooooo cool that you got a picture of your babies. I hope the next nine days absolutely FLIES by for you

Susan – thanks for the info on how day one is classified. I feel a lot better about the test being done early. …sending positive vibes your way for your test next week

Jen – enjoy your weekend :) . I’ve been vegging out all weekend myself and don’t plan on doing anything harder than responding to message boards

Sophie – I’m glad you decided to reschedule your clients next weekend. Enjoy that time for yourself. YOU WANT TWINS TOO :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: So do we! I mean, ultimately, I’ll be happy with a healthy singleton, but man, twins would definitely put some icing on that cake

Julie – sorry to hear that you’re getting a little sore. Take it easy and pamper yourself, or better yet, let DH pamper you  , yeah, that’s it…let him go get movies that you can watch at home

dearest everybody,

DH and i would like to thank you for sharing this journey with us... there has been real love, support and encourangement in this forum, more than what i have experience outside of cyberworld.... and for that we are very grateful to you all for all the informations shared and all the good wishes.... it;s just sad to say that the result wasnt what we are expecting... i guess it's God's way of teaching me the meaning of prioritizing....

for now, we decided to let our frosties sleep for a bit .... i'm giving my uterus a break ... it's been over a year that we;ve been stressing over having a baby and i guess i also deserve a break... and speaking of prioritizing, i have decided to finish school first.. it will only take 2 years and im sure it will be over before i knew it.... hoping by then, i would be ready to try again.....

again, our sincere thanks to all of you for the support..... i hope to see you again in two years....

***group hug***

lots of luv,
marsha

Hi Marsha,

So sorry you didn't get the result you deserved. Having a break and focusing on something else might not be a bad thing, maybe you'll fall pregnant naturally or maybe you'll be back for another go sooner than you think. Just look after yourself and enjoy being yourself off all the nasty drugs. Drink wine, coffee and all the other things you can't do when doing this. Take care sweetie and good luck with the studies.

Toni, DH has gone off to get food and we're going to settle down to watch Boston Legal on dvd. I'm a lot more comfy now that I've had my bath and am in my jim-jams!

Pat, I can't find you on the list, what stage are you at? sorry there's just so much to keep up with here! Is this your 1st try?

Hope DH hurries, I'm so hungry.

awwww MAN! I'm so sorry, Pat! I had not noticed that I had forgotten to put you on the list!!! When I'm in a hurry, I have to rely on the topic review and it must have stopped before your post. Sorry about that. You're there now where you belong (!) but please just tell me when your pregnancy test will be, and if it's a blood test or an HPT. Thanks! :D And PLEASE, I was very compassionate yesterday, but then TANYA started the trend, so... ;)

Jul1e: chirpier? LOL I love the term! And yes, definitely chirpier! Image As for you, you're getting.. couchier? ;) hehehe love the image of you in front of the TV with your jeans open! LOL all that's missing is a huge bag of chips and a beer! And rollers in your hair! And a very, very old pink bathrobe! ooooh wouuuuuuldn't iiiiiiiiiiit beeee lovelyyyyyyyy! You're nearly there too, and I'll wait for news on Monday! :D Good luck for your apt!

Toni: LOL why do you seem so surprised that I want twins? hehehe it just seems something that I could do without too many extra worries. I'm 6' tall, and I have the "right" constitution, so expecting twins would not be as bad as if I was 5' tall with real narrow hips. I figure that they'd still have enough room. And well, I know that the first two years would be complete hell, but we'd be done with diapers after that and we wouldn't have to start it all over again! Plus my DH's parents would probably come from France and live with us for the first couple of months. That would make an enormous difference (mind you, they'll do that for a singleton as well!) But hey, we'll see. At my clinic, you have 25% chances of having twins. ;)

Marsha: sounds like you have lots of lovely plans ahead of you. I'm glad that you and DH are not giving up at this point, and I'm also glad that the forum could bring you some comfort through all this. You'll see, focussing on other projects for a while reeeeeally helps! Good luck sweetie, and I wish you the best there is!

Hello Ladies,

Thought I’d check in real quick while DH is grilling dinner. Yum, he makes the best burgers. It’s been kind of a bad day. My beagle dog had a seizure. He has epilepsy and takes medicine to control the seizures. He has been on the medicine for a couple of years and has not had one since he started the medicine (at least that we know about). So, I’m not sure why it happened today. My dh thought our other dog was attacking him in the backyard but she was just standing over him not understanding why he was shaking and couldn’t get up. I feel so bad for him as he had a bad start in life. He was rescued from a puppy mill (where there just breed and breed them and don’t take care of them). They let his collar grow into his neck and he now has a huge scar from the damage. Hopefully, he will be okay.

Tpiper55-No, I didn’t start BCP. My clinic doesn’t have me take them. I’m not sure why but I guess I don’t need them.

Gbnut-Sorry to hear that you are having pains. Hopefully you will feel better soon!

Jen779-How many embryos are you having transferred?

PMApsy-You mentioned your age and your chance of getting pregnant with IVF. Just wondering how old you are??

Sorry to everyone I missed. Dinner is ready and I have to go. Enjoy the weekend.

Hello Girls

I am working a ton of hours this weekend and I slept all day and then came back to work! Nutty. Oh well. I am so happy guys. I can't wait to go in for my u/s to make sure that things are looking good then I will really be able to chill out a little more I think. I am 5 weeks today ladies!!!

Pat
Glad that you started on the prenatal vitamin! That is good. Glad that we could help! And that you are feeling better...

tpiper
It is never too soon to RANT! We are all hormonal and we do that best! LOL. I loved your DH's comment about the most expensive jerk off ever! That was great! We have to laugh during this process. I know what you mean about it being expensive and wanting everything to go well. I really understand that. It can't hurt to ask the clinic to draw them again to see what they are. If she thinks that it will be fine then maybe it will be fine. I am not sure how it works. Darn holidays...

Susan
Glad that you are doing well. I had and still have AF pains that are kind of annoying at times. It is raining here as well. Glad I asked to work OT!!!

Marsha
I am so sorry to hear of your BFN. It is so hard to deal with. Take the time you need to regroup and handle the news. I know how it goes and I needed time when I had my BFN. It does help.I am thinking about you tonight girl...What are you going to school for?

Angela
I am waiting waiting for the 5th as well. Why does it seem so far away tonight? hehe. I am impatient girl! I hope that you are doing well.

Tia
That is really great for you to have lots of eggs! That is really exciting! I will be looking forward to cheering you on...

Sophie
How are you tonight? You do seem pepier than before. That is great! I hope that you are having a great weekend.
