One would think it should be 2 weeks after egg collection but at this point I've had 4 IVF cycles plus one changed to an IUI. In two instances I had chemical pregnancies so I didn't get any bleeding before the beta, however for the times I got a BFN I always bled befoe the test. In one case only a week after the 3-day transfer. So, for me, if I make it a week into my 2ww with nothing, I am feeling okay. In most people the progesterone is supposed to delay AF but it doesn't for me.
I agree with you about having to wait! They want to me wait 2 weeks after my 5 day transfer. I told my DH that I am going to go on July 6th (Friday) instead of July 9th. Even then it'll be well over 2 weeks from the ER.
Thanks for answering my question ladies. I wondered if AF would come before the blood test if I'm BFN. My clinic told me I have to come in to test even if AF comes. I guess some women do get AF even when they are preggo???
Is anyone still having cramping from the egg retrieval? I've had minor cramping in the area where my ovaries are (on the sides, not in the middle of my abdomen) for the past week. Is that normal?
Have any the BFP ladies had implantation bleeding/spotting or pregnancy symptoms prior to testing?

Is anyone wearing estrogen patches? The reason I am asking is that I have been experiencing a few of the early signs of pregnancy, but the problem is they are also sometime side effects of estrogen patches (occasional nausea, tender breats etc.).
Kris (Klor) you said you had pregnancy symptoms before your first pregnancy from IVF - were you also taking estrogen?
Hi Michelle,
I too have had the minor cramping in the area of my ovaries. I figured a week after my ER that they would have calmed down a bit but still they continue - on and off.
I wish there were some simple pregnancy symptoms!!
I got a BFP yesterday. The only symptoms that I had was very tender breasts, very tired, backache and some mild cramping. It kind of felt like period was coming. I am on Prog. shots twice/day and also on estrogen patch everyday. So these might of been side effects of drugs. It is hard to tell. But what made me lean towards that I might be pregnant is mild calf cramps, some streching pains in abdomen, like my previous pregnancy that ended in 15wk miscarriage. and I took HPT on 8 days post transfer and got faint line. But I think everyone is different.
racheal D, I too have stage 4 endo. after several surgeries over the years i was in the same boat either ivf now or full hysterectomy. I wish you lots of luck. I just got my bfp yesterday. did you do a day 3 or 5 transfer?
I am lucky, i got pregnant after treatment for endo years ago naturally, but have been unable to concieve since... that was in 98.
I was on pain meds for the last couple of years because the endo was so bad... they had to drain several endo cysts on my ovaries at the time of egg ret.
Anyway, best wishs to you!!!!!!! and stay positive and take it easy.

Thank you Klor, for giving us back a little hope. I've been doing a lot of thinking and I made peace with the fact that this might not be my time, but it brakes my heart to see my dh so excited about it. I couldn't tell him that yesterday I took a hpt and it was neg. I was cramping this a.m and felt exactly the same as I do when my period is about to come. Sorry I have nothing encouraging to say to anybody. I have a tendency to be a pessimistic person and I know it does not help in this kind of situation, but I surely wish you all the best and I'll keep everybody in my prayers.
We should never forget the power of prayer and positive thinking, like one of the ladies mentioned before.
I need to work harder on this.

LOL . I am also checking my bb's all the time, I think they are starting to get sore......probably because I am touching them all the time to check!!!! .

Vicky, you are cracking me up!!!! I've been analyzing everything as well. Every little cramp I get in my body I panic that it's a menstral cramp! I'm constantly going to the bathroom just to check. (Sorry if that's too much information ladies) This is making me into a crazy woman!
So I take it that you haven't given in to the HPT?

What symptoms should I be experiencing if I am pregnant? From having talked to women who have gone through IVF, I have come to realize that there is not a standard set of symptoms that you will feel if you are pregnant. The range of symptoms differs so widely that it is hard to even begin to answer this question. Symptoms during the 2-week wait can be caused by a number of different sources: the medications you are taking, your body recuperating from the IVF cycle, an impending period or an impending pregnancy. Below are some of the symptoms that women have reported to me before getting a positive result. You may experience some of these symptoms before your pregnancy test, but the only way to verify what you are feeling is a pregnancy test done by your clinic.
absolutely no symptoms
pre-menstrual-like symptoms
breast tenderness
cramping
nausea
food aversions
Dixiegal1 - Your outcome gives me hope. My husband and I started trying after we were married in 2004. After a year my gynecologist started me on Clomid but didn't monitor me closely enough. I severely overstimulated and was in so much pain, I couldn't get out of bed for days. I did two rounds of that before I had had enough and went to see an RE in the state we were living it at the time. They put me on Clomid and did and IUI in December 2005. It failed and I ended up with OHSS again and this time so severe that my right ovary twisted itself cutting off the blood flow. I had continued calling the RE trying to tell them how much pain I was in and when I went in the doctor was ready to start me on another round of meds. When he did a ultrasound and found all the massive cysts he told me to go to my gynecologist because he felt I might have Endo and he himself didn't do laps. I had my first Lap in January 2006, where they found a big chocolate cyst and the Endo was on my ovaries and bowels. He didn't remove much, just did a D&C as well. Well, the pain came back no more than a month later. It took my urologist doing an MRI to find another mass had grow on my right ovary. During that time we were moving from MD to NC. I got here to NC and did tons of research and found the best doctor specializing in pelvic pain. He performed my 2nd Lap in September 2006, removing my right ovary and tube as well as a chocolate cyst. The Endo had gotten so bad it had stuck my uterus to my bowels. Once again, he told me to try for 6 months but no longer to get pregnant naturally and then see an RE. The pain from the Endo started back up about 3 months after that surgery. We waited about 8 months to find an RE here which has led us to the IVF cycle we are in now.
Anyways, I didn't mean to write a book I just thought you could commiserate with me. This is such a nasty disease and I'm so terrified that it's going to effect my embryos.
To answer your question, we did a 3 day transfer which makes me nervous because I see most ladies here did 5 days. We also did ICSI and Assisted Hatch. I'm just praying I get good news like you did.
Congrats to all the BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO.. Tomorrow is my day.. Im very nervous. There is a bug going around my house.. My 14month old had BAD poopy... Blow out in the pediatrician's office on Monday.. I was MORTIFIED!!! It was soooooo bad that the nurse had to help me change him because I was dry heaving..... NICE... My mom has been not feeling well either and nor have I... Lots of bad poppy... Sorry to get graphic, but it is not fun...
I go at 9am tomorrow and will meet my husband there... we will be together for the good news or bad.. If it is good, we will go out to lunch, if it is bad, then I don't know what we wil do..... If it is bad, I will want to leave town for the weekend. get outta the house..
rachael, it certainly sounds like you have had a heck of a time. it is a nasty disease and if you have had a rough time with it ... most people dont understand how much it affects your life. i was 15 when i was first diaged with a lap. treatments worked pretty well until after i had my first daughter in 98 at that point it just got so bad they had to do a laparotomy which actually gave me relief for a few years.. but in 05 they did another that only helped for a while. i think your problem and mine now is that we probably have scar tissue everywhere as well as the endo.
Clomid didn't work for me because of the cysts on my ovaries..... ironically my fertility doc told me that a couple of years ago that ivf was the only way .. but noooo i had to try naturally first LOL.
anyway, good luck to you and don't give up if it doesnt work the first time. endo only causes problems because the egg can't go where it should... you have excellent chances! take it easy relax and try not to worry to much. I think it helped that i was very busy with my 8 year old. LOL she was having dance practice 3 times a week because of recital at the same time i was going thru ivf, and i was trying to work. it kept me from focusing too much on the ivf itself.
