naive question maybe

Post by pequele »

what is the hysteroscopy? isn't that when they shoot dye into your tubes to check they are open? why does it have to be done every cycle? I am not going to be able to afford that if need be!!! ugh

Hi Ladies

Cannot sleep. Dh under weather so we went to bed at 10pm. Now awake at 4am and thinking about everything so figured I'd get up and chat rather than tossing and turning and waking him up.

Rachel - you have done so well on the weight loss. 1 1/2 stone is awesome. Are you starting to get lots of comments from people?

Pequele - The dye test does start with an H but cannot recall the full name. You are right that is just at the start. Had that before I commenced tmt 1. That was what showed my tubes were blocked. This is different. Camera inside me. Saline put in to 'clean me up'. They'll look to remove any cysts, fibres etc and clean the lining. Plus they take measures of my insides so they can find the best spot for the embies to go back. You may well not have to have it done so pleased don't worry. I have never had before. We and the clinic just want to try everything as this is our last Fresh attempt and as I have three failed attempts already. Hope this helps

Becky - hope that you are feeling a bit better than last week and that your cold has finally passed. Look after yourself

Aunty - love the little injectables logo. That was so cute. Glad that you and Sam managed a bit of time out from painting for your anniversary. Cannot wait to see some photos when you find the camera. Hope that Sam had a great birthday in amongst the paint pots!

Jayne - wonder if there is any news yet about your appeal

Jen1d - Weather is rubbish down south. How can this possibly be late June - come back sunshine please! All my cycles have been priced ex-drugs. Clinics have said that is because some people need low and some need high so that varies the cost greatly. I think that it is so they can make more money. Found out before tmt 3 that if you shopped around for the drugs that you could get them more cheaply if you bought outside of the clinics. Saved about £100 on tmt 3 by shopping around. So they have given me puregon (used before) and done through the pen (easy, peasy!) and menopur (not used before and requires mixing). Rather than using one or the other, they vary day-to-day depending on the results of the blood test. Then I have pregnyl (again not used before) for trigger shot. You are not having a blonde moment. It is just quite complex or seems to be. Hope that you are doing plenty of studying!!!!

Gill - hope that you will be back on the computer soon. Count down to Big B is getting there for you

JS - you are very quiet. How are you managing on your 2ww? Thinking of you

Jackie - hope that you and your little beanie are doing well.

Shantala - do you start sniffing today or tomorrow. Good Luck for your tmt hun. Hope that they don't make you too headachy and/or emotional. I find that drinking loads of water has really helped. Nag Nag Nag!!!! Now take it easy and don't go over doing it

Hope that everyone else is doing well. At least it is the weekend!

Will try to post later if I feel ok.

Enjoy the weekend ladies.
Lots of Love
Carolyn

Hi All

Me again! 8)

Back at home already. Feel fine. All done. We were at clinic by just after 6.30am  Not even open. Two ladies ahead of me for EC then me. Met Mr Tarannissi (of richest dr in Britain fame) and he could not have been any nicer. They even knew that it is hard to find access to my veins even though I have never had a procedure done there before!!! Well impressive. Procedure took less than 1/2 hour and I was out by soon after 9.30am.

All looks normal. No cysts etc. Gave it a good clean. Interestingly both tubes are still open after the tubal surgery last year so if all else fails we still have some option to try naturally!?

Feel a little sore but nothing really.

Clinic will call later to tell me what drugs to start on this evening.

Going to take it easy for the rest of the day - honest!!!

Love to you all.
Carolyn

Sorry girls forgot to give Paquele some info

Paquele - The treatment to check your tubes out with dye is called
HSG - Hysterosalpingogram. If you look down the list under Infertility to the left of this message and go into Investigating Infertility, it will tell you all about it there.
Do you have to have a HSG done? I did at the beginning of ivf so if you need any advice or help just ask.

Morning Ladies,

Someone kick me up the arse for being such a shite cyber sista!

My emotions are all over the place and i find it diffucult at the moment to talk to u ladies. For the simple reason - i dont think my heart is in this anymore

There i've said it!!

I dont know if its because AF is around the corner (she should have been here by now) or if im just down because of this dam cold wearing me out - i really dont know.

So much going on in my head and its effecting my family life - Brian and are at loggerheads every other day cos im beinig a ***** :( Gemma and i are barley speaking (altho we did hug and make up last night - long may it last) and poor Natasha just avoids me right now! I know im being a *****, and the more i be a ***** the more i feel gulity about it, but i cant stop myself!! I know that once AF is here, and the FSH tests are done - its full steam ahead, but i dont know if its what i want anymore! Hopefully this will all pan out by the time she arrives and i will be back to my normal self .....

I dont even know if we are going to be here when AF arrives as we are booked to go home to Wales on Saturday, so far there are NO signs of AF arriving, and if she doesnt by Wednesday then the fsh test is out of the question as i have to have it done on day 2. I have no sore (*)(*)'s which i always get at least a week and half before the dreaded, also sore tummy starts about 4 days before - but ive had nothing - just the bloody moods  Oh and the bloated stomach ..... joys of being a woman eh?

I bet u God is a man, theres no way a woman would allow us to go thru this each and every mth for 40 years solid!! So, AF jiggie for me would be great please ladies - by Wednesday if u dont mind!

Carolyn: You really are full steam ahead now :D I bet ur so excited. How are u feeling? Hope ur resting up - do u really have to go for blood tests daily? OMG - i dont think i could stick that - is the clinic near u? Do u have to travel far out - that would be such a pain! Im so glad that ur Hyp thingie went so well, that ur all 'clean' (not that i tht u were ever dirty like lol) and ready to receive ur wee embies home. You must be so pleased that everything is being done this time to help u along, and that things are really looking super :D xx

Ems Hey there my wee cycle buddie - how the devil are you? Thank you so much for comming by to see how we are doing :) xx As u can see from my post - im my usually grumpy old self lol, its great to hear ur doing so well - i do keep my beady eye on u now and again, and look out for ur posts. Please keep us informed, its great to hear from u hun :D Do u ever hear from Vicky these days - i do think about her now and agian, i do hope she's doing ok - xxxxx

Rachel: Wow - well done on ur weight loss hun - i am soooo proud of u, i only wish i could stick to it too <Becky stands up and admits to the whole class - she is a CRAP dieter> i just dont have it in me at the moment, ur so good at it, i wish i had ur willpower xxxx

Beachbaby: You get appealing hun - its disgusting the way they are treating u - would u like me to have a word - the way im feeling right now i think they might just agree - arghhhhhhhhh, its not bloody fair!!! If all else fails, as u say u still have ur wee frosties and i hope that ur get ur well deserved BFP with ur wee snowmen or snow women  Good luck and let us know what ur test results are xx

Shantala: Hows the sniffing going? How does it feel to be a fully fledged drug taker again lol  Hope all is going well, and that ur not too busy at work - now is the time to slow down a wee bit, to save ur energy for getting ur wee ones back home safely xxx

Aunty: Is the house nearly finished now? I bet its looking like Miss Ellies ranch lol. Dont forget to email some pics once its ll finished (if u can find ur camera!!) bloody men lol xxxx

Hellooooo to everyone else <Becky *waves*> Hope ur all doing well xxx

So ladies, its down to M.I.L's today for dinner for us - have to make polite conversation and be as jolly as ever...... put on my Sunday best (so to speak lol) will catch u later ladies - dont forget JIGGIE dances for me pleaseeeeeeeeeee ....

Becky Xxxx
P.S - Thanks for letting me rant (not that u had much choice tho lol) Xxx

Jayne - I am so sorry that your appeal failed. They have no idea what we have to go through. I am so pleased that you do have the snow babies waiting for you. Good luck for your diet. I hate that all teh drugs make us put on weight. It adds insult to injury! You should ask Rachel for tips as she has done so well

Rachel - thanks for your words of encouragement. Dh is much better - well enough to be on the golf course! He has been looking after me. Did all the shopping yesterday for food and drive me around and also drove to the East end of London to pick up my drugs to save us some money. How are things at work? I know that you were not happy with things last week. WOW. Another dress size. You should be so pleased with what you have achieved. Is your dh doing a good job of encouraging you?

Jen1d - Mail not working. Thought that you were just ignoring me (Ha Ha)!!! You are right - my tubes were blocked on both sides. Last year (August) they did tubal surgery, opened me up (c section scar) and cut out the blockages. But there was so much mess that they did not give us much hope of a natural. Sent us away to try for 8 months and we lost patience after 4 months and so reverted to ivf. Does that help. You are not being blond, it is just that I am not a straight forward case!!! (ha ha) They told us that it was highly likely that the tubes would re-block just a question of time. Plus once they are damaged, the chances of egg passing down are not very good. Plus my age. So it goes on!!! You are not going to have to have a hysterocsopy as this cycle is going to work for you. Come on - let's see a positive attitude from you! Hope you had a good time with your friends last night and are not too hungover today

Shantala - how is the sniffing going hun?

Gill- hope that you are back on line soon so we can all chat

Aunty - how much more painting do you have to do? Are you still on the primer or have you got onto the exciting colour schemes yet?

Becky - how are you feeling? Worried about you as you were clearly going through a rough patch. Not long til your cycle now. How are you feeling about it? Please can you update the list when you have a moment. Started stimmies on 30th June. Hysteroscopy done!

JS - cannot be long til test day. How are you feeling? Crossing everything for you hun

Hugs to everyone else.

Clinic put me on 300ml of puregon yesterday. Highest dose I have ever been on before is 200ml. Still sniffing three times a day. Headachy today. Got bloods done early so will await call and see what today has in store for me!

Going to beauty place up the road for a massage. dh thought that it would do me good. Then going to come home and watch the Diana concert.

Have a good week girls. May not be on here too much as will be juggling bloods first thing every day, scans, acu on Tuesday, work this week and parents here at the weekend. Then going to take a weeks holiday from work - cannot wait. If it is sunny then I can go to Regents Park and lay in the sun between appointments. Some chance given the pants weather right now but I can live in hope!

Love
Carolyn

Jen and Carolyn
thanks for the info. I'm so new at this. I want to be a single mom (age 34) and have no idea of my fertility "status". I hope to be able to do a non-complex IUI. I have my first consult on Friday the 13th! yippee!!! I almost thought I'd need to reschedule because of work but that is all 'worked out' now haha. Because my insurance covers NOTHING, I really want to / hope to avoid high cost test and drugs as much as possible. Hearing stories of how many ladies have ultrasounds every month, drugs and blood work, it scares me I won't be able to afford this for awhile (and if I am not successful by Oct, I will have to wait until after next June when I switch jobs to start again :(
Sad

But thanks for the info on these tests...I guess I should just wait and see what they say in a few days....ugh, if this is what it is like to wait for my first appointment can you just see me buggin during the 2ww?????

On a side note I got bit by a tick and my neighbor doctor friend gave me a script for doxycycline. About an hour after I took it I got nauseous in the middle of the store so I ran home and yacked (sorry) but man if that is what morning sickness will be like I am gonna need so serious anti-nausea drugs haha! But I'll take it if it means a little bundle in 9 months :) Since I haven't started treatment I know it isn't MS yet but ugh

 Hi girls

Sorry me first today, i'm so excited - the clinic sent an email today and said they will be in touch in about a week as they hope to have everything organised buy then aarrrrrrrrhhhhhhh, its getting so close and i still need to figure this all out in my head.

Ok, calm down Jen---but hey, we have to be excited when we get some good nes, there isn't always much around

Carolyn - No you are not a straight forward case, more like a problem case or is that nut case lol, only joking bud  Hope your scan goes well for tomorrow and your managing to juggle all the durgs with work. Massage sounds like heaven, you have put me in the mood for one. Glad to hear you are finally slowing down and getting pampered. Sent an email today, let me know when you get it.

Rachel - So whats the car?? Hope work is getting easier and your blood pressure is going down

Becky - Wow where do i start, you sound so unhappy and mixed up. Its tough with dh's but just hold your head up high and go over, say sorry and have a hug. God we have enough problems and stress without fighting with our hubbies. Its tough but support each other and its will help, remember, he is your best friend.
Try not to worry about af, she is a ***** and will be here when SHE wants. Wait for her then plan from that day. Try to stay stress free babe, i know its hard but it helps.
Huge hug flying to you and cant you see me jigging in scotland from there

Pequele - No probs. Welcome to our world, yep there is a lot of treatment, money and patience involved in the ivf world but now you have found this site the brilliant girls will support you all the way, good luck.

Ok away to find some tea for us

Catch up soon

hey girls, big apologies for being such a crap cyber mate over the last few weeks but I do read often but not had time to post.

Anyway, thought I'd let you know it has all ended again for me this weekend. Over the last couple of weeks I have been having brown discharge and everyone like 'hey don't worry about it as long as its not red' also had cramps which I also got told 'just growning pains', so on Friday I started to get both and didn't think to much of it. Saturday we drove up to wales and it got worse and I spent the majority of my weekend at A&E with severe pain and bleeding.

Our fears were confirmed last night with a scan that showed a sac and feteus but no heartbeat, worse still the 2nd scan this morning measured the feteus at 8wks 2days so it was a shock to find out that the last couple of weeks there was nothing.

We have managed to come home today and going into local hospital tomorrow to see whether I have to have a D&C.

Really can't believe it has happened again and still in absolute shock just when we thought we were getting to the 12wk stage.

Sorry to put such a downer on your happy thread and I'm really pleased that so many of you are doing well.

Don't know yet what our next steps are, guess we will be back on the IVF rollercoaster again in a few months.

hugs Jackie xx
