Great news on your ultrasound today Erica, congratulations! I know exactly how you feel. We had a routine one done today. We not only got to see our little bean's heart beating again, but this time we got to see him/her moving around as well. Just amazing!

Our nurse told us that the baby looks good as well as the incubator that I am creating. What a relief!

On a different note; have any of you out there tried the preggie-pops for morning sickness? Our doctor told us about them today and they seem to be helping me. We found them at Babies-R-us. Anyone else out there tried them?

hey ladies....

sorry its been a while...its been a little crazy...my wife has me working as a full staff...I am the gardener, maid, paper boy, waiter and butler....she has had major I mean major nausea....after our ultrasound we saw we were having twins!!! we freaked out at first but it explained why she was feelin so bad and so exausted....her ob we met with for the initial visit percribed a medication called zofran for her severe nausea...she (the ob) said it is used for csncer patients undergoing chemo therapy....has anyone taken this drug?? her ob says it is safe for preganant women to take, its just very very very expensive....also ladies as a DH myself...go easy on us, we have a lot going on, we are going through some serious emotions, it gives m nausea to bave to scramble eggs at 5am and get cheerios @ 2am and wash and cut fruit at all hours...remember, you girlies are just carrying a baby, we as DH's have to take care of everything else in the world (realize this is a very sarcastic statement I am making to get a rise out of a room full of pregos, I was just kidding about what we as DH's habe to do) on a serious note, my best friend gave me a book, its called: so your going to be a dad. its a great book for a hubby to read...just a suggestion

peace out and luck to all the condominium and duplex's out there (and triplex's if there are any)

qbndaddy: My doctor prescribed zofran for me yesterday. She warned us about the cost (avg $20 per pill), however, our insurance is fabulous. We only paid $10 for 20 pills. :D The doctor also told me to try taking only a half a pill at a time to see if that is all of the dosage that I need. If you are paying full price for these little gems, then you may want to ask your doctor if she can half the dosage.

She also told me about the preggie-pops. We found them at Babies-R-Us. They seem to be helping me too. It is so much less embarrassing to be seen in public with a lollipop, than a vomit bag in your purse...

Good luck to you and your wife on this morning sickness stuff. And congratulations on the twins!

hey kath...

thanx for the response...what are these prego pops? I have seen a couple of people mention them before on this site...

also...I am alittle concerned because we are in the transition phase between the final sonogram with our fertility doctor and our ob...which we had had our first visit with and they took blood for a panel...the only thing I have found odd is that nobody has weighed my wife or taken her blood pressure is this normal? or am I over reacting? we are having twins starting week 8 and we do not have a visit with the ob until the 8th of august

let me know if I am getting to involved

qbndaddy,
I found the preggie-pops at our local baby supply store, however, you can read more about them here: http://www.threelollies.com/.

And no, I don't think that you are getting too involved in your wife's pregnancy appointments. You can never be too involved. We love it when you (DH) are there to support us and experience this with us. I am scheduled for my first OB appointment mid-August so I don't have any experience yet as to what to expect with them. I think that we get spoiled in a way with our RE, going to see them once a week (or more) and being treated with so much attention. And then it is such a huge difference when we become "one of the masses".

If you are uncomfortable with what is happening at her appointment then speak up. Let them give you an idea of their agenda. (and if it makes you feel better too you could buy a blood pressure device for your home and monitor her there, where she is more comfortable). Keep us posted on what happens.

Welcome back Karen. Are you talking about the NT test? (nuchal traslucency). I have mine scheduled August 14th. How long did it take you to get your results back? Was it your regular OB that did the test? I am being sent to a specialist at the University to have mine done. I am understandably nervous about the testing. What is involved? As far as your doctor not being fazed by it, I would take that as a good sign...but I am like you, I would want to know more detail.

Hi Kathy,
Yes, it was the NT test, my doctor performed the ultrasound, it took about 10 mins for the scan to be complete and she told me there and then. When I was in UK they gave me me a ratio for the result pending on age, gestation and measurement. I am not sure this was all taken into consideration here.

Qbndaddy-You sound very involved and helpful, that is great! I took Zofran with my first pregnancy (my daughter is nearly 3 years old). I only had 2 really bad week, but that was the only thing that helped. The first week I tried everything I could find with no relief and then got the Zofran from the OB which did wonders for the week until I felt better.

Regarding the OB appt, I had my first appt at 10 weeks 4 days and I was good that I had it then. They wanted me to do the sequential screening by 12 weeks and I was barely able to get an appt by then based on when I called. I think that your timing will be about the same, but if it is later you may want to call the office regarding that.

Good Luck

Sweety - Sorry you are dealing with gestational diabetes. Just when you think the shots are over - their back.

How was your nt scan today? I had mine today as well. It was very exciting. So far everything looks good according to the ultrasound tech. Of course the Dr still has to review and I have to wait for the bloodwork. Anyway, it's so cool to see the baby looking like a baby and moving around so much. It must be even more amazing to see 2! Let us know how things went.

It has been so long since the last posting on this thread I wanted to check up on all of the February 2008 moms (and you too qbndaddy). How are you all doing???

We had our first "real" OB appointment today. So different from what we are used to at the RE! But everything looked good. And we were able to hear the HB for the first time; that was the best part of the day! 150 beats per min. They gave us an EDD of Feb 19th and then we go in for our NT scan tomorrow. We are coming in a the end of the time frame for that test I think since I am in my 13th week now. I know that you already had yours done Sweety, Marabustan and Wanttodiscuss, anyone else? Any advice?

Sweety, how is your gestational diabetics doing?

Hope all is well with all of you out there. Let's keep in touch!
