Hi Girls

Carolyn- I just couldn't believe it when I read your post :( , this IVF business is so unfair one minute your on a high the next a low. I know you must feel so disapointed but I have to agree with the girls, 7 is still a great number :D and I know you have heard it before but "it only takes one" so positive thoughts now young lady! You are on your way to a bfp.

Jen B- Sorry to hear you have been feeling down too :( . Af doesnt help matters when she is playing up,whenever I need her to be on time she is either early or late  , before my first appointment in the IM she came a week early and lasted two weeks! I had to go to the doc in the end and get some tablets to make her stop, my doc said it was stress, tell me about it!! :?
You did well not to punch your neighbours lights out  most people just havent got a clue, they are insenensitive b*****ds!!!You deserve a medal.

Rachel- Sorry you didnt have a weight loss this week, but you have done so well :D , you put me to shame

Becky- Sounds like you had a very busy time on holiday,Im sure you made the right decision about your tests, its probably best to have them done at your own doctors im sure you will be more relaxed by then after your hectic holiday  .
The patches are oestrogen they get the lining ready for transfer, because I am having a doppler scan when I go for my hysteroscopy they need the lining thick as if ready for et so they can see the blood flow in the uterus. As soon as I have had the tests I will stop the patches, I should then bleed after 2-4 days, but day one of my period (if they have found a donor) I need to start the patches again ready for the real thing (thats if there are no problems with the doppler or hysteroscopy) so if all is well I should have et end of august. Dont ask if there is a problem I cant think about that at the moment, I just have to do one step at a time or it all gets too much. The patches are easy, much easier than injections, the only side effectc that I have are hedaches but they are not to bad. Sorry for being thick but what is short protocol? Thanks for updating the list, I got butterflies when I saw my name in the having treatment bit  :?

Jen- Have the IM emailed you back to let you know what the hold up is? Hope you are feeling better.

Jackie- How are you? You are in my thoughts take care x

Aunty- 11 days till you move in, I bet you cant wait now. Hope you havent been working on it too hard

The IM emailed me yesterday about dh sample we were having FISH tests and DNA fragmentation tests done on it, the dna was normal but the fish test showed abnormalities, I am gutted :( they say it could be the reason IVF has not worked for us in the past. They have said that we should definately have PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) but I am worried that we could end up with no viable embryos at the end of it all. Now we are thinking maybe we should use donor sperm as well? dont know what to do at the moment, will have to discuss it with the doc when we go back to the IM.

Take care everyone
lots of love

Good morning everyone!!!!!

Carolyn – aaawww hun, I’ve changed my post for you about 4 times now as I’ve missed so much of your progress. One minute I was typing when you’re your trigger be, then I’m writing a mega post on your 23 lovely eggies and now I’ve read you’re your numbers have dropped. BUT you still have a good number of eggs!!!! If they had gotten less in the first place, those 5 good ones might not have been in the batch so they’ve still done a great job. Its so disheartening, I know. Not sure if you remember but I had 15 eggs last time and was very pleased (although I still had higher expectations, especially because of my age) but only 5 were mature!! And I got 2 perfect grade A 8 cell embies. So don’t give up hope honey!!! glad my post cheered you up the other day!!! And thanks for putting my mind at rest about the sniffer working. If it worked for you with such a bad cold then I’m sure it will work for me too. Did you use synarel?? If so, any ideas how many sprays are really in a bottle?? I have 2 bottles and it says there are 60 sprays in each but I need about 10 extra sprays!! I’m sure my nurse last time said there are more in there than they state but cant remember how many. I may phone them tomorrow……anyway, thanks for the comments about my mums post. I will tell her today that you liked her post and will give her a hug from you.

Nimble – glad you had a good time and passed out! Must have felt good to let your hair down a bit. Xxx

Jen1d – aaaww hun, big hug to you!! I agree with Carolyn, you’re not going anywhere!!! No, seriously, if you need a break from all this then we all understand. I took a good 2 months off these boards just to get my head straight and if that’s what you need then we’ll all still be here (in one way or another) when you get back. But if you wanna stay on here you are more than welcome hun!!! Cant believe they cant give you counselling for so long!!!! That’s a disgrace.

Gill – glad you got your laptop back. Yey!! Thanks for the lovely comments about my mums post. Glad AF arrived for you!!!! Oohh, 26th!! How exciting. That’s not next week but the week after!! How you getting on with your patches?? Sorry to read about your dh’s swimmers….is it worth trying PGD before DS?? I would imagine so!! Hope you find a solution that you’re both happy with!! xx

Lara – hey hun, your ticker looks fantastic!!! You go girl!! Glad you liked my mums post, it certainly did bring it home!! Hope you got rid of your migraine soon on Wednesday – I know how that feels!! Had one myself on Thursday and had to leave work an hour early as it was killing me.

Beachbaby – you poor thing having to sort all that out! Like you said, good job you’re not in tmt otherwise you might paint the walls black with red writing saying “hormonal woman in progress”!!! lol….hope you get on ok with it hun!! Thanks about the comments re my mums post!!

Angie hun – lovely to see you and thanks for popping in!!!! how you doing honey??

Jen b – OMG, that woman needs a slap!!! Ggggrrrrr!!!! Cant believe she said that to you (I know she doesn’t know your situation but even still!!!) hugs hun!!

Welshbugger – hey hun!!! Your post made me laugh. Thank you very much for your compliments. Glad you make me sound like am “old-druggie”!!! lol. “wow, what a mum you have” – thanks hun!! I am very lucky indeed to have such a wonderful mum!! Sniffing going ok thanks!! How are you keeping up??? Glad AF came for you (although it could have been in a better place!!) and think good on you for waiting another month. You want it to be as least stressful as possible so think you’re wise waiting another month until you can do it at home.

Hello to everyone else!!! Thanks to all asking how I’m getting on!! Sniffing is going well, have been sniffing for over 2 weeks now!!! God, time is just flying by!!! It’s definitely helped that ive been very busy at work as its kept my mind of things. As for side effects, have not been as emotional as I was first time round but have struggled with headaches a bit. Had to come home from work an hour early on Thursday as my headache turned into a migraine but apart from that once its just been “normal” headaches so I could cope with that. AF arrived yesterday, finally!!!! Quite painful but again, by far not as bad as first time round when I was d/r. so all good, good!! Go for my d/r test on the 24th (just over a week!!!) and then start stimming if all goes well on the 26th!! Yey!!!!

Thanks all for the lovely comments about my mums post!! It certainly made me cry my eyes out!!!! She was worried as she hoped she hadn’t offended anyone but it doesn’t look like it and I assured her that people would probably appreciate it and like to hear that they’re being supported by our loved ones. And it looks like you all did so that’s great!!!

Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, thanks for your kind wishes, they mean so much.

Carolyn - You must be a nervous wreck, i find this bit the hardest, even worse than the 2ww. The hospital will call soon, those embies will be fighting. Let me know what time ET is tomorrow. ((HUGS))

Gill - Wow you have a hard decision to make. How do you feel about using donor sperm to? I'm beginning to think as long as i get a baby and i can give birth, so what---go for it girl---as Carolyn all tells me, we will be th one who gives birth, cares, loves and nurtures the child, its ours

Shantala - Glad your sniffing is going well so far, not long until your on the 2ww---oh the joys

JenB - Hope your feeling a bit stronger today, email me if you need a chat ((Hugs))

Am feeling ok, was out last night and dh got so drunk. We're not drinkers so am putting this down to stress just now.
Am hoping to hear from the clinic tomorrow as i emailed them and asked them to update me.
Am also going to call my Dr tomorrow and try to plan some conselling. The hospital only offered Aug---thats no goo at ET will be over then. They then said i could go private---bloody cheek, we have paid enough.

Sorry this is brief but i'm at work and shouldnt be on here. Sending love to you all

Hey Ladies

Thanks ever so much for all you support. Don't know how I would cope without you/the boards. I well and truely feel like I have been through the ivf wringer in the last 48 hours.

Jen1d - Hope that the hangover is not too bad - at least you are having in work time. Probably did you good to let your hair down. So hope that you get some response out of IM tomorrow. Hope that they might be able to arrange a councellor to talk to you over the phone. Otherwise think that you do have to go the private route. It is an outrage when we are spending so much !!! But at the end of the day sure that chatting it through with someone will really help you and you cannot put a price on you feeling happy and having a little bundle can you. Pleased to see that you are now passing my advice to you onto Gill. Ha ha ha.

JB - sorry that you have been having a downer post 40 and the wedding. I felt rubbish before my 40th and then afterwards figgered that I just had to get on with it. Your IM trip is really not far away now. Hope that you are focused on that. Barcelona is a lovely city so hopefully you will have time to wander around as well as going to the clinic too. My acu has a lady over there who works for him so if you are interested in acu before and after ET then PM me and I can send you her e-mail address. I simply cannot believe what that lady said to you. I would have punched her lights out or be tempted to say something like 'I am not a desperate woman but I have had the balls to go through ivf x times'. That would have shut her up. You sound like you were a lot cooler than I would have been & way more dignified

Aunty - the teddy bears for me made me ball my eyes out. They were so cute and your words captured so well the highs and lows that we all go though. Thanks so much. How are you & Sam doing with the house? Bet it is looking fab

Becky - you were on hols and still lost 4.5 lbs. That is truely amazing. Go girl. Must have been all the dashing around that you have done. Glad that you had a good break - although not sure how relaxing it was for you. Sure that everyone was really happy to see you. Glad that AF is here for you. Better to wait as you say so that your regular dr knows what is going on. I had to slip a month when I went to Dubai and it seemed like forever but it was better in the long run. You were right about 7 being a fab/lucky number - see below

Shantala - Sounds like you are doing so well on the down regging. There are quite a few extra sniffs in each bottle. I was on syranol. Is that the same? Found out recently there are like 150ml extra in the Puregon 900ml stimmies cartridge. Can save a lot of money by knowing that!!! I am totally sure that there will be an extra 10 sniffs for you. I now remember that you had 15 and only 5 mature but had forgotten about that before. It can happen to the youngsters as well as the oldies then!!!!!! The story definitely reassured me which is what I need right now

Gill - I am sorry that all the testing has shown up issues with dh's sperm but may be this is the answer as to why it has not worked for you so far. PGS/PGD is such a hard decision. We had agonised about it but had decided with the clinic that we would only do if we had at least 10 embies as it can reject embies that would have implanted and also they need to be strong enough to get to D5 as well. Tough decisions but I am sure that IM will guide you through the choices so you make the best decisions in your situation

Jackie - really hope that you have been looking after yourself and having some fun. Have you decided what your next steps will be or is it still too soon. Sending you huge hugs

Jayne - hope that you are having a nice weekend

Hugs to everyone else. Hope that you are having good weekends

Well yesterday was utterly horrid. Dh suddenly realised that he left his phone in the locker and called from his mates phone mid morning. He came flying home from the middle of the golf course despite me saying that there was nothing he could do. I just lazed around all day feeling sorry for myself and with both of us crying. He made me have a shower and dragged me out to a new Thai (my fav) restaurant last night when I all I wanted to do was loll around in my PJs. It took our mind off it for a few hours. He is my hero. Did not sleep great. Clinic told me that they would call between 10 - 11am. Finally got call at gone midday after staring at phone for hours. As Jen says, I found the last 24 hours, especially awaiting the call today, possibly the most stressful of the whole ivf journey. With numbers falling so dramatically thought that may be after all the effort that it was a really bum batch of eggs & that we would have no joy at all.

Better news today. All 7 are dividing. 1 is 2 cell, 1 3 cell, 2 4 cells, 2 5 cells and 1 6 cell. Understand that they should be 2-4 cell today and they don't want them to go too fast or too slow. She said that it was hard to tell on quality but they looked ok. Trying to stay calm and not get over excited after the ups and downs of past few days.

I am having 3 back home given my age so the embryologist thought that it would more likely be transfer tomorrow (D3). She said that the only reason to wait until Wednesday would be if it was not clear which were the 3 front runners. They will not decide until tomorrow and will then call me. Checked how far from the clinic that I live and I forgot to build in time for acu beforehand. ARGGGHHHH

Meant to be back at work tomorrow after a weeks holiday. Not sure what to do. Sods law says that if I don't go then transfer will be Wednesday and if I do then it will be tomorrow. Already had my Mum telling me not to add stress by going to work. I asked her how stressful she thought that it was to sit by the phone for 4 hours waiting for it to ring this morning. That is stress! Now feel bad that I went off on one to her. Sure that she understands it is the process that we have to go through. Will talk to dh and see what he thinks is best to tell work about tomorrow. May be I could tell them that I am going to work from home to catch up???

Right. Need to calm myself right down. Chill. Chill. I have 7 embies that are doing all they can for me. Need to get myself calm for them to return.

Thanks for being there for me. I only hope that I can give you the support that you have given to me.

Much love
Carolyn

Hi Girls

This will have to be a quickie, booked a box office film for 9pm and must go to the bath before that.

Carolyn- You realy have been through it these last few days. I was so happy when I read your post and found that all your lovely embies are doing well.I cant wait to hear from you tomorrow, I will be thinking of you take care x

Shantala- The patches are fine thanks for asking, just getting hedaches but nothing major. Sounds like you are well on track with your treatment, not long now till your d/r test!!

Jen- Glad to hear you went out last night and let your hair down. I hope you hear off the IM tomorrow and you get some good news.
We are hoping that the IM wont think it is necessary to use donor sperm because we would definately rather use dh's, but if they tell us that we dont stand much of a chance of a bfp using dh sperm then we are willing to use a donor. Whatever it takes!!!

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all ok and have had a lovely weekend.

Take care
Lots of love

evening ladies

Carolyn, I've been following you all week and feel all the highs and lows that you have been having. One minute I was jumping for joy when I read about your 23 eggs and the next minute felt your sadness however as I have been told many times on here, its better to have a few good quality ones than loads of not so good ones and judging by the way that they are growing, you have some real gems there. Come on lil Carolyn embies, be good for mom. I hope that they call you in the morning nice and early, I think the worse part of IVF is the waiting and not knowing. i'll be thinking of you tomorrow hun xx

Jen - I hope you get an update from your clinic, again its the waiting and not knowning which is frustrating. Sorry that you having such a rough time at the moment. So hows the head this morning? Hope it wasn't as bad as mine - sometimes a blow out is just what the dr ordered!

JB - wow you must be some saint - if someone said something like that to me, she would be on the floor - personally I think that we women who go through IVF are far from desperate, in fact I think we are strong, brave and amazing ladies. Not long before the IM appt - it will be here before you know it.

Becky - thank you for your words - I've managed to stay eye dry for nearly 6 days now and then you go and set me off again!!!
woohoo 4.5llbs thats fantastic and all without trying eh!!! Must be all the travelling up and down the motorways! Was it nice to be home? Damn AF for coming late and arriving whilst you were away but you probably then made the right decision about postponing tmt - after the last couple of weeks, realised that no-one shares info on you. I had to bring photocopies of all my notes from the hospital in Wales down with me !!

Gill sorry to hear about DH sample but it is good that they found out about it and you have the choice on what to do next rather going ahead with IVF which could possibily not work. I'm sure the DR in IM will help and guide you on your next steps what ever they may be - it might not be DS just yet, but should that be then at the end of the day, it is still your baby - both of yours.

Shantala - sounds like all is going well with you - feels like you've been sniffing for ages!! So glad that this time round is not as bad though - it will soon be time for stimming :D .

Rachel - those llbs are falling off - soon we won't be able to see you  Hope those pesky migrianes have disappeared.

Aunty - hope the house is coming on - can't wait to see some piccies of your ranch.

As for me, back at work tomorrow - saw the DR last week and I asked whether they could do any tests as normally you have to wait until you have a 3rd m/c before anything is done but didnt want to go through another ivf to find out there is something fundamentally wrong and she said that there was so many different tests that they could do on causes for m/c and suggested that I speak to the clinic and see what they suggest - she is willing to get the tests done for me through NHS which is good. So have arranged to see consultant on 7th aug so pleased about that.

We have also booked holiday in Sept so won't start any further tmt until after that. So things slightly looking brighter, have a few plans now in the pipeline and something to focus on.

i know there are a few I have missed, you're not forgotten and big hugs to you all.

evening ladies

nimble - hey hun!!! how you doing?? good to see you went and asked your DR about the test and that she's willing to get them done on the nhs. the best of luck for the 7th.....thats not long at all (although i'm sure it doesnt feel like that for you)! thats when i'm expecting to have EC if all goes to plan. did you ever go to that consultation with st georges house?? we have ours on saturday.... yes, cant believe i'm stimming again soon!!! it all goes so quickly once you start!

gill - glad that patches arent giving you too much trouble!! same as me, a few headaches but nothing major apart from that.

lara - thanks hun, i really hope so! yes, the weather could do with a change here too!!!!

carolyn - aaww hun, i just wanna give you a big hug. not sure if syranol is the same as synarel....probably! thanks for letting me know about the extra sniffs. glad i made you feel better - it does just show though that age sometimes has nothing to do with it!!! come on, 7 embies, you're doing well....keep going!!! will be keeping everything crossed for you hun. like you said, it will be sods law, whatever you decide to do. either way, it will be fine. maybe go to work but leave if they want you to go in tomorrow??? not sure if thats possible but thought it was an idea. anyway, either way i'm sure you'll be fine hun. ooooohhhh, cant believe you'll be on your 2ww soon!!!!

jen1d - thanks hun. cant believe they just say it like money isnt an issue!!!! counselling should be free and should be available....anyway, if you have to pay i guess its better than to wait until august but it still makes my blood boil!

night everyone!!! off to bed now....i'm quite tired but thank god my boss is back tomorrow (she's been on leave for the last 2 weeks so its been manic at work)....have some time off tuesday so leaving work at 2 as dh has been referred back to hospital as he's still not recovered fully from his op nearly 3 months ago...so want to go with him on tuesday. then thinking about booking either this friday off or the thursday and the friday before the w/c 6th aug (which is EC week)...hhhmmmmm, i'll have a little think. sorry, i'm going on...probably coz i'm tired. sleep well all!!

Hi Shantala I've missed you...omgosh how exciting i cant believe your on your cycle..brings back memories...this time i can follow you all the way through your bumpcemesters

I am excited about moving now, trying to work... redo one house and still upkeep the apartment has been so hard i had a melt down last week ...so funny now wont go into all my moments but it's been really tough..almost over the hill with it...
me and sammy are putting wood floors in our bedroom next Thursday should be fun we have never done anything like that before....oh man i sent him out to get the bedroom paint with specific instructions to get a mocca colour...im thinking along the lines of warm and sophisticated right....he brings back bright yellow  i will take a pic of it before i repaint it while he's at work tomorrow ...no way i can sleep in a room that out shines the sun

loads of love happy warm moments...Aunty

Hi everyone. Hope the beginning of the week brings a good one for everyone! AF is just a few houses down the road, she'll be here any minute!

Had my first apt on Friday . Looks like I can do IUI. Just need to do some tests...bloods and exam...didn't have exam on Friday because next month is the 1 yr mark so we are hoping to slide that under the insurance radar haha. Then after the NEXT AF I should be able to have my 1st IUI! We shall see.

Been coming up with a list of questions to ask the nurse. I should find out sometime about my CMV status...I am assuming to be negative so my guess is I should look for a negative donor?

Have any of you done clomid? My RE said it was up to me whether I want to do it...She says I can do it without trigger shot. I'm still debating.

Have a great week!
