Hi all,

I just gave myself my first Lupron shot and it went a lot better than I thought it would. You all were right it isn't that bad. It makes the next few weeks easier knowing I won't have to dread the Lupron shots. The next medications I have to think about are the Repronex and Follistim but those don't start until August 13. So I have some time before I have to start worrying about those

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Hi, ladies!

Nurse consult went fine. It was just a refresher course. Also had to sign paperwork. Then today had to go to see my OB/GYN for annual exam  (with my insurance it has to be one year and one day after last one) and also had to be done before IVF/ICSI. So all my ducks are in a row and am waiting for AF to arrive on Friday :P

Jill_n_Mark I also take the same antibiotic, it is a common thing at my clinic. DR said he perscribes it anytime there might be a chance of bacterial infection.

cyclone Repronex and Follistim are not that different than taking the Lupron. Is your Repronex in the tummy? Repronex can sometimes sting when given but not afterward.

Someone said something about the Progesterone in Oil - you need to know that this medicine is thick because it is in oil. After you have it ready, hold it in your hand for a few minutes to warm it up and it will inject faster.

ICSI GIRL I should be within a couple of days from you on the ER and ET so we both must be doing the short protocol while Julianna must be doing a longer one.

I wonder why that is that some of us do a longer protocol and others are are on a shorter ones??? Hmmm....like i was on the phone with one of the nurses at my dr office and, and she was talkin to herself trying to figure dates out or whatever and she was like "and you're on the long protocol"....bla bla bla, so I didnt know why exactly that was-i should ask, just cause im curious. Maybe w the way my cycle falls and I want to have the procedure done in Sept thats why-bc if i waited then maybe i wouldnt be able to do it til October....i dont really know. Makes me curious.

Hope you are all doing just great this week! Its already Thursday-I go into work today and then tomorrow we head to the lake for the weekend! : ) Wooohooo.....

Ladies, ladies, ladies --- we are a busy group we are!!! :D Am hoping this business carries us all thru to our BFP'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jill: glad to hear your consult went well! VERY COOL your mom will be able to give you your shots.....am SO loving my dh so much more right now cuz he's doing all mine --- i'm a lucky girl i am! good luck getting all your meds taken care of...but on a good note - is nice that you have some insurance coverage for your rx!! and yes - i also have an antibiotic...don't remember name of it, but you're not alone there.... think is pretty standard.....

Cyclone: YOU GO GIRL ON YOUR FIRST SHOT :!: :D It's all down hill from here girl.....enjoy it while it lasts!

meggs: oh now THAT sounds like fun!! (camper thing).....we live on lake leann -- is a private lake about 20 min south of jackson.....we think the lake is busy when 5 boats are out there --- we're very spoiled that way!! ha, ha, ha.......we do enjoy it though --- is a real nice diversion during times like these!!! HAVE FUN THIS WEEKEND - sounds like weather is supposed to be great!!

nannybear: is very cool that our timing is so close!! we'll have to watch out for each other (and everybody else too!!) not sure i'm on "short" protocol.....i actually started bcp's way back on june 1..... and we (dh and i) wanted to plan for august if possible cuz of work vaca schedules and such....so it was really a combination of when we wanted to do it and when doc was available.....ALSO everything i've read out here on these boards shows that EVERYBODY on different rx regimes! i've yet to talk to one person on a similar rx regime as mine.....i asked nurse erin about it this week at my appt and she said is all tailored for individual is what it really boils down to......ALSO they manipulate to fit into their scheduling.....in fact - my doc has said at prior appt that he's not an advocate of the "short" protocol.....so i'm guessing the 2 mo's of bcp's was my priming me for rest of rx regime!!! i've chalked it up to different doc's use what they've had success with.....so yeah for all of us!!

as for me.......started my gonal-f injections this morning (upper thigh) --- dh was so sweet.....he thinks he's a comedian though ---- he leaves house by 5am for work - so if he's going to give me my a.m. shot - i must get up before he leaves (i dont' even get out of bed til 6).....so he comes into bedroom and sweetly says "honey - wake up....time for me to poke you!!" ha, ha, ha......was like -- you jack-a$$.....you're just loving this - aren't you?? am glad that he's interested in being a part of it though... this evening will have the menopur injection -- have to mix liquid w/ powder for that one -- is a little more involved than the gonal-f pen (that is SO easy!!!) then i go to doc starting tues next week and will be there every/other day (atleast) for us & bw.....

:!: CHEERS TO US ALL FOR BEING SO GREAT FOR EACH OTHER!!! :!:

WOW, we are really getting a crowd in here! CONGRATS to everyone for starting this process and I hope everyone has great positive results. Keep up the PMA!!!

Well, wrapped up my blood tests today and did the mock transfer. Everything went smooth except he had to try three different catheters on me to find the right size? that would fit so it became kind of painful after the first 15 min. He apologized so I guess I'll forgive him. LOL. But I'm a little sore and cramping this afternoon. Hope all of this is worth it in the long run!!!

Meds should get delivered tomorrow morning sometime and I'm waiting to feel overwhelmed. I think I will have to do a refresher course and watch the DVD they sent home because it's been over a month since they showed us what to do and we have already basically forgotten. So once I start the Lupron, I guess I will feel like I'm "on my way!"

Sorry I don't have time to mention everyone by name. Hopefully I will have more time the next chance I have to post but better get back to work.

BEST OF LUCK AND STICKY STICKY BABY DUST AND BFPPP'S FOR ALL!!! :D :D :D

Hi everyone!

Cyclone, I'm glad you're not finding the Lupron shots too hard either. Jill, you are so lucky your mom's a nurse! And ICSIgirl, at first I wanted DH to give me all my shots too, but the nurse who trained us was so good I was feeling confident and gave myself the first shot. And after that I figured I could keep on going. It's been four days now and I'm doing fine. Sometimes that final moment before the needle goes in is a little scary, but I'm actually feeling very proud of myself for doing these shots myself. I never thought I could do it! And it makes me feel like the whole process is going to work and soon we'll be pregnant.

sorry your mock transfer was so tough, Juliana. But now the dr. knows exactly which catheter to use for the real thing so it should be a breeze. And Jill, I also have Doxycycline to take from the day before the EC to a few days after the ET, to prevent infection. Glad to hear you and meggs will be starting shots soon- two more of us on our way to babies!

nanybear, thanks for the tip on warming up the progesterone. And for the great updated list!

As for me, not much is going on. Just trying to stay relaxed and positive and healthy. It's clean livin' for me now- lots of salads and less wine and beer. Plus I'm doing yoga almost every day. I know acupuncture is supposed to help, but I haven't looked into that yet. Are any of you considering it?

Have a great weekend and think babies!!

meggan: have fun at lake MI this weekend?? weather was beautiful!!! (atleast down in our neck of the woods!) we spent the weekend playing in the water as well........tubing & swimming and of course we have a doggy that LOVES that water - so he was right out there with us as well :D

ceiba: know what you mean about dh/shots.....and honestly - i believe i would feel the same as you -- great sense of accomplishment! 8) HOWEVER - has actually turned into a great way for dh to remain VERY involved w/ the process....so while i do believe i'm capable of doing them myself - i must say that i'm happy that he has remained involved -- has really created a bond - that otherwise, may have been lost

nannybear: YEAH on AF's prompt arrival!! how goes the injections?? so far so good??? Finally feels "real" once you start shots --- dont' ya think?? A happy place to be indeed!! :D :D

Jill: big day?????? start your lupron injects today - right?? GOOD LUCK!!

ICSI GIRL shots don't even hurt. It is really nice to be finally on my way. My protocol is 300iu of Fiollistim in the morning and evening and 2.5mg of Prednisone until Friday then I go for bw & us. If follicles are at 12-14 and my estrogen is above 600 they will have me start taking a mini dose of Ovidrel(hcg) for about 4-5 days until follicles grow as large as they want them. Also Gannirelix to keep from ovulating. Then the trigger shot. The nurse said that retrieval would probably be around Aug 8-9th. They are now using this protocol because they are having less OHSS from this - even with esrtogen levels reaching 8000-9000!
I also take a baby aspirin evey day and have been on Metformin for three years since they discovered that I have PCOS.

Jill Good luck on theLupron shot today!

nannybear: WOO-HOO on getting thru your first shots!!!!! Isn't it cool how you get all worked up (atleast i did) about the "shots" only for them really not to be that big of deal at all??? ha, ha, ha  it is just amazing to me the very different rx protocols we are all on!! for instance - my "trigger" shot -- is one giant dose of hcg exactly 36 hours prior to ER.....so is pretty cool in that sense --- the fact that you know EXACTLY when ER will be if you're doing the trigger shot "my" way.....

ALSO FORGOT TO TELL YOU --- a great big thank you for updating our list!! our board is getting lots of activity lately and is always nice that somebody takes the time to update us all

ICSI GIRL - I also have one "giant" trigger shot 36 hours before ER, so I know when ER will be also. The shots were not any big deal to me because I have done this three times before, although the first IVF they were a bit scary.

Hi nannybear, ICSI girl and everyone else! The Lupron was not so bad. But I had a heck of a time getting all my meds. They finally arrived today...just in time....and when I opened the box, boy was I overwhelmed  There are so many different sizes of syringes that I hope I can keep it all straight :)

I feel like I am that much closer to achieving my dream!!!

I want to thank you, too, nannybear for the updates.

Our BFPs are right around the corner and I am glad we can be here to support and share in this together!

Talk to you all later *****BABT DUST TO ALL *****
