Hey girls! I am sorry that i dont really write to ya'll seperate-i cant remember what everyone wrote and then i cant think of who wrote what, so i will just address everyone :)

Lake Michigan was super duper-though there was traces of Ecoli (sp?) found in the lake, which wasnt a huge deal since we were out on the boat, being that far out the water wouldve been too cold to get into anyway-so we cruised the lake for a bit and then headed into Spring Lake which is so pretty- anchored there and drank and swam and all that good stuff-we all had a so much fun! : )

Hope you all had a great weekend too-all of you that are busy little bees building your "nest" for the little beans that we all cant wait for! I am quite anxious to start the shots-we found insurance that covers the medication portion and that kicks in aug 1st-so as soon as wednesday hits we'll have the meds shipped : ) Wooohooo, then it will probably sink in....then it will literally sink in once we start the pokes....eeeeeeeeek! : )

Ok, off to watch the Tigers-have a great night girls and we'll talk soon!

Hello everyone,

My period arrived today and I've never been so happy to see it in my entire life!! This means I'll be starting the stims tomorrow instead of waiting until Aug 6, and I'm so excited to be moving on to phase two. Of course the three shots a night won't be fun, but I've been feeling so good so far and I'm really happy to be moving along in the process- and that much closer to being pregnant, I hope!

Hope all of you are doing well too!

1st IVF in August - Any cycle buddies?

Post by nannybear »

Hi, ladies!

Not much going on, shots are going well - although I have quite a few bruises on my stomach from taking Follistim twice a day. I will have first us & bw since starting stims on Friday morning. Can't wait.

ICSI GIRL - How did your first us go. I have never really had any cramping or anything until after they have done retrieval.

ceiba - congrats on AF arriving earlier so that you can start the next step.

If anyone wants to pm or post their medication protocol I will post it on the list so we can see what each other is taking.

HI Ladies,
I would like to jump in on your thread if that is OK. I just got back from the RE and found out I will start stimming in mid August and will have my ER/ET sometime the first week in September. My first IVF was a BFN. I have one natural born child, unexplained secondary infertility.

I wanted to say how nice everyone is on this board, and how important this board is with all the information shareing. It is helpful to know I am not alone in experiencing the emotional rollercoaster. I have found with my family to have no clue what I am going through even though their intentions are good and they care. I am really tired of people's ignorant suggestions like "have more sex" and "you just need to relax more" and "OH you will be so busy with the Holidays it will happen when you are not thinking about it" and what my DH aunt said "It is time for you to realize you will not be able to have another baby and move on." I have stopped talking to family about what I am going through, even when they ask how I am doing. I have a few friends that have been through this, and know just what to say to lift my spirits, so I tend to lean on them.

But it is really nice to have found this board were ladies here are going through this at the same time. It has helped me tremendously.

Hello all my name is Alice I am so glad to find this site and I think that my husband is even happier. I am currently going through my 1st IVF/ICSI cycle. I actually started by BCP's late June and am up to my stimulation stage. I will have my ER sometime in the next week and I am very nervious and excited. I have no children of my own but my husband has 4 from a previous marriage and had a vasectomy. He had a reversal last year but it was insuccessful. The doctor gave us very good odds of success with IVF but I don't think that it makes this process any easier, and the disappointment after the failed reversal was really hard on me. I am so glad to find people who are going through the same things that I am. I have read a lot about nerviousness with the shots, I just wanted to let you know that I am now up to 3 shots a day and I am TERRIFIED of needles but so far it has really not been bad at all so I know that if I can handle it anyone can. I wish everyone the very best of luck.

Hi everyone, and welcome marmey and alice!

So I've done the stimulation shots for two days now, and boy are they different from the Lupron! The Lupron was going so well that I thought this whole IVF process was going to be a walk in the park. But the Menopur especially burns like fire going in. The Follistim stings a bit too, and I'm definitely having side effects now. I've had a low-grade headache for days now, and yesterday I felt so achy all over and generally loopy that I left work early and came home and took a nap. I was worried that I'd have a whole week of feeling that way, but this morning I seem to be feeling better. I'm going to yoga class in a minute, which will hopefully ease some of that achyness.

Is anyone else having similar side effects? Or other ones that I should be looking forward too? Sometimes I think about the thousands of people going through IVF at any given moment, and as I'm walking around stores and such I look around and wonder if any of the other women I'm seeing are going through this too. Can you believe what our bodies can take?!

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well and moving right along in the process and not feeling too badly!

Wecome Marmey and Alice! I will update the list later today and put your names on it.

ceiba - I take Follistim also and it stings sometimes and doesn't at others - you just never know. How much do you take? The only thing I would say is you may become grouchy and also after 4-6 days you may also start feeling some low abdominal pain from the follicles getting bigger - I think I feel it more so when I am standing.

ICSI GIRL - How did us go this morning. I went yesterday and I have a few follicles on the right (couple at 12, 10, 9, 8...) and several on the left (2 @ 12, 3 @ 11, 10, 9,....) so stayed on the same medicine. Went this morning and had I think 3 @ 14, 4 @ 12, 3@11, and on down the line. I respond like someone who has PCOS so I have lots of little follicles. I am waiting for the nurse to call, but she thought the meds would be the same for tonight and in the morning and then I go for another us & bw in the morning again.

Aliann09 - you sound like you are at about the same stage as ICSI GIRL and myself. What meds are you on?

nannybear, Ceiba , I am on Lupron, Repronex, and Follistim. I go for my first US and BW on Monday morning, I have also had some low grade headachs but mostly just a SORE BACK I didn't really think that it would be affiliated with the IVF but I can't think of any other reasons it is bothering me so much. My shots also verfiy nightly sometimes they burn and leave welts and other nights they are fine.

I am really excited for the transfer but I am freaking out about the needle for the progesterone oil, and having to put it in my muscle as opposed to the tummy. Has anyone done these yet give me the straight how BAD is it?

Also please tell me what BNF and BNP stands for I get that the one is bad and the other is good but I would like to know what that standes for?

Hello everyone and Welcome to Marmey and Alice! Hope everyone is doing good :)

Well, I took my last BCP and started my antibiotic on Friday and reduced my Lupron dosage today. Now I am just waiting on AF. The nurse said should occur Moday-Wednesday this coming week. I will then go in for my baseline BW and US.

I have to say that the Lupron is not so bad, no side effects yet (an hopefully none will come). I will start my Gonal-F next Friday. I was afraid it would take forever for my ER and ET to get here, but it's just a little over 2 weeks.

Guess I'll talk to all you ladies later. Have a great rest of your weekend!

Alice, BFP is Big Fat Positive and I am pretty sure BFN is Big Fat Negative.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the side effect warnings! I have actually been feeling much better since Friday. Maybe it just took a day or so for my body to adjust to the new stim drugs. I still have the headaches and achyness and fatigue, but I'm not as loopy or sore as I was on Friday. And aliann, my shots seem to vary night to night as well- sometimes they sting and leave welts and other times not as much. Strange!

Plus, this morning we had out first monitoring appt since starting stims, and the RE says I am responding well and everything looks good! I was so glad to hear that- makes me feel like this has all been worth it so far. And it gives me hope that all will continue to go well.

Jill, hope AF comes soon!

I wont let myself get all worked up over it already though...one day at a time!

Hope you're all doing wonderful at whatever stage you're in! Keep updating-its so exciting! : )

i will be gone this week as we are headed up north camping for the week! Have a great week everyone!
