Hello former cycle buddies and mothers-to-be,
sorry for the long post...
Back from the doctor and am in a bit of a holding pattern, but in a good way -- ??
He wants to try to find the reason why at least one of the embies didn't decide to stick, because apparently the hormone tests he did along with the Beta suggest that one tried to dig in for a bit... He thinks it possibly has something to do with my ability, or rather lack of ability to absorb key vitamins, minerals and important hormones, like estrogen and therefore create/not create the right environment for implantation....Guess these things just flow in and flow back out...so, after I undergo more tests he'll decide on the next course of treatment to try and maximize my chance of success.
For now, he's starting me on DHEA...I know, a controversial treatment, especially in the US, but becoming increasingly more common for women over 40...but it is supposed to help promote natural estrogen production in the ovaries...
Well, he and his staff are off on vacation for the next 6 weeks and I'll get my tests done and enjoy the rest of the summer and we'll meet again in September. Depending on what the tests show, I'll start in Sept/Oct or 2-3 months after that...But, of course everything will depend on the weather as we have to drive about 4 hours to Innsbruck to get to our clinic....
Funny, he is so confident it will work based on the quality of our egg & sperm combo, I can't help but be positive --
Man, I hope he's right that it really can work!
At least he's doing more research and it feels like he's trying to help us realize our dream to become a little family...and hasn't just said, okay, let's just try again!
Not sure how often I'll check in till Sept, so I want to wish you all the very best till then!! I'll be thinking of you.
Hope you all see those little hearts beating away and your babies growing and developing in the coming weeks and months.
To Melanie and everyone else beginning treatment again, I wish you all the best of luck! Perhaps we'll meet each other again on the next cycle.
Take care of yourselves,
xx Amy
