Kbat SOOOO sorry I would be one pissed off lady I would be calling that Dr. personally tonight and letting him know the level of incompetence that he has in his office!!!!!!!!!!! There is no excuse for this. If you do choose to move forward I would have a long seriuos talk with the staff that will be working with your case! In the mean time try to just relax take some you time, claer your head before you make any decissions. I wish I could take all the disappointment away please continue tyo check in and let us know whats going on.

Jill I really wouldn't worry if your RE though that you were at risk they would have had you come in for an ultrasound to check fluid levels in your abdomin also the days before my transfer I was really swollen and I hated to go to potty because it was so uncomfortable like it hurt. I didnt call the clinic because I figured I shoudl be swollen after what they just did to me but I was scared and nervous about the same things I talked with my doc the day of the transfer before he got started and said what I was feeling was normal he was concerned about the potty part and asked if I was going when it came time I said yes that wasn't the problem just OUCH he just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting a bladder infection. sorry so long but just don't want you to worry.

Good Luck everyone lots of sticky baby dust !!!!!

Oh, kbat, how terrible! I'm so sorry for you. And I think others are right about finding a new clinic, even if you have to travel. I live outside DC and our RE has mentioned patients who fly in and out. And when I thought I might have to go on a short business trip in the middle of my stims, the nurse said I could have monitoring at a lab in another town and have the results faxed to them. Plus, a good friend of mine tried all sorts of treatments with one clinic, including IVF, with no success for 3 years. Then at age 42 she decided to go one of the top clinics in NYC (from her home in Massachusetts) and got pregnant on her first IVF with them. She just had two healthy twins. So I think finding a good clinic is crucial, even if you have to travel. And there is absolutely no excuse for your clinic not to call you yesterday!!

And jill, I too am very swollen, and I asked the RE about it several times, and he always said that it basically won't go away unless I'm not pregnant. He said my ovaries are still large and so I should monitor my weight carefully, and to call immediately if I gain more than 5 pounds in a day or more than 2 pounds on 2 consecutive days. So far my weight has been steady and the pain I experienced during stims and post-ER is pretty much completely gone, so the RE says I'm fine. It's apparently normal, or at least not unusual. And, as annoying as it is to not fit into half my clothes, I'm with aliann- at least my swollen belly is a sign that I might be pregnant!!

I go for my follow up on 9/11 (hopefully that's not a bad omen. I really don't believe in that stuff anyway.) The nurse did call me this morning about half an hour ago and apologized for not calling. She said that usually if a transfer is cancelled the doctor should call. I will see what they say on 9/11. Then we will make a decision from there. the biggest issue I have w/ travelling is w/ my husband's job, it's so inflexible. He's the only one that would be able to travel w/ me. It's difficult for him to take time off at the spur of the moment. We almost went through the whole frozen sperm thing. And even if we freeze the sperm so that we can travel, I really don't have anyone who can help me after the procedure is done if he can't make it. I really haven't told my family much about this process, I don't think they would understand. I wouldn't necessarily have a problem going to NYC. I used to even work and live down there. Just that if my husband would not be able to make it down there w/ me, I wouldn't really have anyone else I can come w/ me. I know that you can't drive afterwards, but don't know if they would even release me to go back to a hotel if I were alone. Do you know which clinic your friend went to in NYC??? Don't think DH would be willing to travel though. He'll tell me that w/ his job it's too difficult. He's very dedicated to his job. But he's a lawyer and coming up for partnership this year and I am supposing that he doesn't want to ruffle any feathers. He's former officer in the navy and just not his way....

I did find out more info though. I guess my eggs did fertilize, but as they started developing more, they just didn't make it. Something about being more than one nucleus--basically defective.... I suppose it happens. First time I went to 3 days. Usually, Day 2 I have an egg transfer... I just don't know what I'll do next....

I've never been through the strong pains in the belly, but I was told by the old clinic that if you should keep an eye on the weight and call if you start gaining more than 2 lbs a day--it means hyper stimulation.

Best of luck to you all and again THANKS

Kbat, glad to hear the nurse called onbe thing I found interesting about what you said is that you usually have a day 2 transfer. Maybe thats why you were getting BFN's maybe if they would have watched your embies longer they would have noticed what this new clinic noticed. Now that they can see what the problem is they might be able to correct the situation or at least improve your odds if you decide to move forward. Anyway still thinking of you, hugs and prayers

alianne09--
that's something I will definately bring up... One thing is that this is the first time I had more than we were going to transfer. The other clinic felt that if you had exactly the amount of embreyos to transfer or less, they always did it on day 2. At the very least, I will go to the follow-up appointment to see what they have to say about this situation. Don't know if it's something that they can try to correct or not. I guess we'll see. Once we go to the follow-up, I guess we'll be able to make a better decision as to what to do. Just wasn't happy that I had to track someone down to find the answers. One of the main reasons I left the other clinic was because I didn't think the care was the greatest.

Good luck to you all. I will continue to track this to see how everyone is doing.

kbat - I'm soo sorry. I agree with everyone else. I would be very irate and demanding explanations. My clinic has been great so far, very understanding, willing to patiently answer my hundreds of questions since this whole process began for my DH and I. If you aren't comfortable with this clinic, maybe look into another one. Sometimes changing clinics is just what is needed. Their methods may not work the best for you. As for everything I've read, I have never heard of a 2 day transfer? Only a 3 day transfer or a 5-day blastocyst transfer.

As for me, my ER went well this morning. They got 9 eggs, so I hope they call tomorrow and at least 1/2 or more fertilize. I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed!! I would appreciate any baby dust being sent my way. :P :P :P

We'll know more over the next 2 days but it's looking like Monday for the ET. And then the DREADED 2ww... That will be the worst part of all this, I think. :( :(

I hope I don't get too swollen from the ER as some of you have. So far I'm only in some mild discomfort and not much worse than normal AF pains. They gave me some Tylenol and I'm just laying here in bed. Maybe it gets worse later? When did the swelling start happening for you guys?

Alianna - Good Luck tomorrow! :D I really think it sounds like you have a BFP so I'm just getting ready for my CONGRATS post... I'm sure you are counting down the hours. Try and stay busy and maybe see a movie or go shopping and the time will go by faster.

ceiba, Jill n Mark, and ICSI GIRL and anyone I forgot - you are all in my thoughts and sending lots and lots and lots of sticky baby dust your way! BFP posts are right around the corner!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I've only started at this clinic.... First time for anything w/ them. I will go in on 9-11 to give them one more shot. Can't do anything until then anyway... Travel is hard for my dh to get away from work. I just left the only other clinic in RI to come to this one because I thought this one would be better than the other way. I don't want to be switching around everytime one ivf doesn't go well. i am going to bring up my concerns w/ the doctor and see how she reacts. Depending on that, I may be making some decisions!!!

Julianna-9 is great. I am sure they will get a good number to fertilize...just keep us posted.

Hi everyone! I am tracking with most of you, i think. I had my ER on aug 16th and my transfer on the 21st. I go in for my progesterone test on monday and my pregnancy test on 9/4. The waiting stinks! I've had some mild cramping since the ER; one night of really bad cramping, but that has seemed to go away. Every little twinge is nerve wracking.

What other symptoms is everyone experiencing during their 2ww.

ICSI GIRL and everyone -

We got some bad news this afternoon after my ER. We are doing ICSI and they called today to say all of DH's frozen sperm from his sperm extraction in June died during the unthawing process today to fertilize with my eggs. He had to rush back to Cincinnati so they can get another extraction from him. I couldn't go with him since I am still groggy from the anesthesia this morning. I am super bummed and hope they can get fresh sperm from him today and make this work in time so this wasn't all a waste. I was in tears around 2:00 but now I'm starting to feel better hoping this can all still work out. What a nightmare though!!!

I hope my DH and I can get through this successfully. We were so positive up until this point. Now I'm not sure if I should consider this a bad omen or not.

Hey everyone! We went in for the ET today and received some not so great news. As of yesterday morning, we still had 15 embryos but today, RE tells us only 3 made it :( He said it appeared to be egg quality  and said he was glad we waited to do 5 day xfer...we agree. Who knows which ones would've been selected on day 3. DH and I had pretty much decided to only xfer 2 b/c fear of multiples, but after talking to RE, we decided to xfer all 3 :o We are hoping atleast 1 takes...but if all 3 then it's meant to be. Oh, we also opted for assisted hatching to increase our chances.

Hope everyone is well and I just plan on taking it easy for next few days.

Julianna:

PLEASE keep us up-to-date about how it went! Oh what a nerve wracking time for you guys but a least your DH was available to get there. If it was a bad omen then he would have been on a business trip right??! So, keep the faith...

Jill:
WOW THREE 5 day blastos!!! I do hope you have two for the price of one! I am hoping that myself... I had 2 grade A blastos transferred and my Betas have been pretty high but you can never tell... Now you are officially in that anxiety ridden 2ww but we're all here for ya!!! :D :D :D

Much love and Baby Dust...
