No heartbeat @7wks - what next?

Post by Kate21 »

Hi,

Just had my 7 week scan and no heartbeat was detected. There is a small chance that the embie was hidden (10%) and hence we have to wait another week for another scan to make sure. We are not holding out much hope, especially as I seem to have lost all pregnancy symptoms.

What I would like to know is if anybody has been through something similar - positive or negative. I really don't know what will happen next, will I start to bleed naturally or not? Has anybody gone on to see a heartbeat? I really am a mess and the consultant was so unhelpful that the only people I can ask are you. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks
Kate

Kate
sorry to hear your news and hugs to you and DH...

I went through this at 10wks with 1st beanie and 7 wks with 2nd beanie...both were totally hidden and were ectopics...i don't know if sometimes 7wks can be too early to see heartbeat ( have heard so) but the consultant would have said so and given a higher %...
i do hope that someone out there has a more positive outlook for you...it's so difficult to have to wait another week hun...x x

much love to you and DH

love jen

This happened to me also...but the fetus had also stopped growing. Is the fetus measuring 7 weeks, that also has a lot to do with it. If the fetus is only measuring 5 weeks then it would definately be too early for HB. Our beautiful started to pass my system 3 days after I was taken off progestrone and the same day of scheduled D & C. I hope you have better news than we did, keep the faith it is definately possible the fetus is just behind a little and still doing fine.

Kate my RE had said that they would not check until 7 weeks for HB and sometimes then it can be hit or miss. So please keep hope for the next week. Best of luck and I do hope things work out for you and your lil one.

Don't give up just yet. I had an empty sac at nearly 9 weeks but a full term baby.

www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com is a good resource to read.

Thanks for all the kind words girls, but unfortunately the second scan yesterday showed exactly the same. There was nothing inside the sac, even though it had got bigger. So I now have to stop all the drugs and wait to bleed.

Not the news we wanted but at least it has shown we can get pregnant, so we will wait a few mths and then try again and hopefully this time the news will be much better!!

Oh no, I"m so sorry. Is it certain? Any chance of a hider like I had?

Is there a yolk sac? If so, then you do not have a blighted ovum. If not, then that may be the diagnosis.

I'm terribly sorry.

Hi Megs,

Yes there is a sac but its empty. They did think it may have been hiding, hence the second scan but they said at 8 weeks it would be too big to hide! Would love to think it was still hiding but I have no symptoms, not like I did at the start and they have now taken me off all the drugs so I am just waiting to bleed.

Did you have symptoms even after not seeing anything until 9 weeks?

Any updates Kate?

I'm so so sorry. Yes, I continued to have symptoms....but I also have had ongoing symptoms after a loss before my hider, so it wasn't reassuring for me to be puking...I just figured it was more useless puke.

Why can any of this be easier?
