Good for you Babyb! I hope you get the twins you are looking for :) They transferred 2 perfect blastos for me and the idea of twins is crazy to me, but of course, I will cherish every little baby that comes my way. I had my transfer just yesterday and will have my last beta on 09/30. I have read the comments about the 2ww and thought I would handle it better than this - but it's killing me! I'm glad that you were able to get some good news early. Take care of your wee little self!

Good point. You're officially out of the Nut House and you may be sent right back if you choose those names...
Babyb wrote: Excited about the possibility of multiples, but a little scared too (mostly for the health of the lil peanuts, but also for fear of blowing up the size of a Vegas Casino and experiencing 3 times the vomit and other symptoms). HOw about that for some TMI. Seriously, I embrace all that the universe will throw my way (I'd certainly love at least twins).
I have 2 friends who've had triplets (both thru ivf) and they are ALL healthy. The only real downer is that they usually put you on bedrest for the last trimester and of course your pregnancy is considered high risk. But-as I learned in my last pregnancy (and I was a youthful 39) anyone over the age of 35 is considered high risk due to 'Advanced maternal age" (LOVE that phrase). But the silver lining is that this may be the last time you have to ride this ivf rollercoaster AND multiples always have playmates. According to my friends with multiples, the first few months are a blur, but after about six months of age they start to play with each other and you can lie on the sofa eating bon bons.

Piggypebs,

I'm on the EXACT same schedule as you--5dp3dt and I am DYING to poas. But I know if we tested now we would both get bfn for sure--it is way too early. I plan to test on Saturday as that is probably the EARLIEST we could possibly get a positive. Are you in??? I need someone to commiserate with!!

I am obsessing because I have absolutely NO symptoms--no implant bleed, nothing--, which I realize is normal at this point, but again this IS the nuthouse so who cares about being rational. I did find this site called twoweekwait.com where you can read all sorts of things about the 2ww. I didn't find anything particularly helpful, but it does kill some time. Here is the link:

Welcome to the looney bin, Misty! And if you think its tough now, just wait for a week or so. You'll become more and more KooKoo (or is it CooCoo?)!! But thats what this thread is for--for all us 2ww gals to let loose and go nuts with others in the same boat. Keep us posted on your progress!!

Maybe some of Demi's baby luck will rub off!

Thanks Rotobay! Yeah, I'm definitely getting settled in for the long haul... it helps though to come in here and chat at you guys. I'm definitely not alone :) It's kind of neat too, because I'm pretty excited about all of your beta dates too, and it gives me some dates to look forward to that will break up the time, since mine is later (09/30). Looks like Babyb will be the next beta on 09/23 Sun, UNEXPLAINED FERTILITY on 09/25 Tues, Kelly and Ronne on 09/26 Wed, Rotobay and Carolyn on 09/27 Thurs, and then of course little old me on 09/30 Sun. Are you guys going to get your phone calls at work or at home?

As far as being in the looney bin, I am certainly there. It feels so strange.. like there is "our" world and there is "their" world. I don't mean it in any negative way, but it feels like time stands still for us while all the world toodles on.

I may have made a mistake today too, because I listened to the advice of one of my friends who is not fertility challenged. I TOOK A BATH. My doctor did not tell me that I couldn't take baths and it is nowhere in my instructions. However, because I am paranoid, I made it the coldest damn bath I have ever had in my life :) I tend to like the water really hot so I was very careful about the temp this time. Lukewarm. I start patches tomorrow that will leave me unable to take baths until 09/30, but I wanted to shave my legs well one last time.... Hopefully that was not a huge mistake. I can't imagine that it was, but what do you guys think? I don't know why I can take a hot shower, but would have problems with a Lukewarm to cold bath. Hmmm.... any thoughts girls?

By the way guys, if you need a laugh, or something interesting to read, go to :

stirrup-queens.blogspot.com

It's a blogspot for the fertility challenged. They are called stirrup queens and sperm palace jesters because of all that they have to endure to have the babies. Some really smart ladies in there, and plenty of info. If you go to the website and scroll down on the left hand side for a little bit you will see many different topics, and blogs with stories and thoughts for different circumstances. Mainly they make me laugh. Sometimes sad, but mostly laugh. Not everything is funny of course, but oh so relatable.

Take care guys!

Stirrup Queens

Hey guys, I might take that last comment about that website back. It is a good website (stirrup queens), but I just dropped in and the first story I read was kind of sad. Maybe now is not the time to check it out, since we are on the home stretch, eh?

Misty,

During my 2003 ivf cycle (which produced the cutest little girl on earth) I took a bath EVERY day of the 2ww. At that time I was told it was fine (and I take hot baths--my RE said just keep the temp below 100f).

Anyway it wasn't until this current cycle that I read on this site that baths have been disallowed for some patients. My RE didn't mention anything about it ( a different RE from last time) . Also I don't know the rationale behind not taking a bath, but today I asked my RE is I could take a bath and he said "sure'. So my guess is that its one of those things that varies from practice to practice.

I was told to stay on bedrest for 72 hours post transfer, but I read on the chicagofertility site (one of the most comprehensive sites I've found) that they DO NOT recommend bedrest after transfer.

So my guess is that it probably doens't much matter and is just physician preference. Maybe we'll be lucky and Ghost will chime in.

Thanks Rotobay,

That was kind of my thinking too. I just couldn't see where this one little cold bath would cause a problem, but of course I have plenty of time to think right now... :)

Because of the Climara (estrogen) patches I won't be taking a bath until the end of the cycle so that they won't fall off. It's nice to know that I didn't jeopardize anything in the mean time. Thanks so much for your help!

Ps. I probably missed this, but is Ghost a nurse? I've read some posts, but wasn't sure.

Take care! Misty

My BFP was confirmed today (testing 2 days earlier than scheduled). Beta is 280 on 7dp5dt. Doc tells me this is definitely multiples, but won't be able to confirm whether I have twins or triplets until the ultrasound. I am still doing my regularly scheduled Beta on Sun so I'll report how the beta numbers are progressing -- double, double double PLEASE.

How is everyone else doing during the 2ww?

Rotobay?
Unexplained Fertility?
Piggypebs?
Meleson?
Julie C?

Am I missing someone?
Sending LOTS of hugs and baby vibes your way. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

Bean: I'm feeling preggers, that is for certain. Dizziness is the worst symptom, but have some nausea, indigestion, gas  and cramps. You are probably wise not to do an HPT. It does drive you crazy. I'm just very impatient. For me, I just knew getting a positive sooner would help me calm down. Of course, if I had been BFN up until beta (or worse, just BFN), it would have devastated me. I'm thinking about you and sending all my best for YOUR BFP!
