I am there with you and question?

Post by Rudy »

I am also in my 2ww period after having 3 transferred 9/24. I am in good spirits except I just realized yestreday that my taking melatonin to help me sleep night before last was not good given that it's affiliated with infertility?!! and I did not even know so this kind of freaks me out given how many dietary changes etc that I've made to try to do everything to encourage success in this process. Any thoughts?

Also, I was reading another comment saying you're supposed to feel things - i've not felt anything out of the ordinary except side effects from prometrium and some soreness from retrieval surgery I think - is it common to feel things during 2 wee period - I thought not...

Well Rotobay, I'm so glad you are right :) I AM PREGNANT :) Thanks for all your happy thoughts. Found out a day earlier than I anticipated as I thought they would make me wait until my 2nd beta which is scheduled for tomorrow. My beta number was 147. Possibly twins but too early to tell I guess. I will take whatever I get :) Rotobay, it is so sweet of you to be so thoughtful when you have so much going on. My plan, if this hadn't worked, was to try again. You get to the point where you are like, what the hell, I've gone this far. I am glad that you are reconsidering. I'm sure your daughter will be thankful for all the efforts you are making to give her a sibling :)

Congratulations to Lindsey08! Yay for you! Those are really high numbers, let us know what you find out about the number of chillins you have there :)

Take care guys, I'm pooped and going to go lay down. My tummy is still so distended and my ovaries are still huge. The nurse told me today to expect it to stay that way for awhile. I have no maternity clothes and was not prepared for my tummy to gain several inches in 2 weeks! Oh well, it's all worth it.

Take care and good luck my friends,

Misty

Bean- I am glad they moved your Beta up! When I asked...they said NO. Oh well at least it is over now. I transferred 2 grade AA blasts so hopefully we will have twins but I will be thrilled either way. Good luck on your test! Let me know once you get your #'s!

Dear Girls,

Sorry for the silence. After my BFN I had to stay away from the baby business. The 2nd failed IVF was not so bad as the first one. I cried for few minutes and then just erased that IVF from my mind and focused on work and studing. Today I caught up on reading here and I just burst with tears! BFN's life is not easy...

Congrats to all BFPs. Maybe I will get someday. I have never seen 2 lines on the HPT! NEVER! "searching for the second line...- isnt it a good book title?
I am planning for the 3rd IVF in January. Since I suffer from unexplained infertility, I am not sure how to improve my fertility in the next 3 months. My embies were poor quality 7&8 cell but with fragmentation (grade 3 out 5) so I guess I have to work on the egg quality. So here is my list of DOs and DONTS:
-no alcohol (I had none even after the BFN news!, although I was soo tempted)
-no coffee (this one hurts!!)
-no chocolate (this one hurts even more and I broke the rule, I had a whole bar today, but I have AF so am excused, right?;))
-acupunture
-herbs
-yoga
-no stress
-eat beans
-dont eat potatoes
-drink a lot of water and herbal tea

Any other ideas on improving eggs? What am I forgetting?
I decided not to give up and to do all my best and try again.
Best of luck and dont give up either.

Good luck on the test tomorrow, Bean! If you get a BFP you will pretty much have to follow my list as well. You can skip bean and potato part.
I keep my fingers crossed.

There must be a meaning to this whole process, right? I was always rather impatient, and I gained that knowledge on how to be patient. I never thought I could do injections by myself, now I feel I could do it to others too. No embarrassement from my legs wide open in front of doctors, nurses, technicians anymore... What else? What else? What are the good sides on IVF?

Have a good night!

IVF is not easy on anyone. Rotobay, you are amazing and I love your stength and positive attitude! To all the girls with BFP's - Congrats! I just had a 6 week ultrasound. We have one baby and we could see the HB. It was so exciting! I am a science teacher so I research & research & research. I was a nervous wreck before the ultrasound because I was convinced I could have a blighted ovum. My hubby thinks I am nuts & thankfully I was wrong on that one! My next ultrasound is Oct. 8th - I'll be 7 1/2 weeks, rather than 8 (what my Dr. preferred), but that is Columbus Day (no school.) I have already missed 4 days this year, including the 1st day, so I am hoping to not miss much more!
Good luck to all!!!!

Well Ladies,I just received call from my RE's office. It's official BFN 0.9 Beta. It was our first IVF and only 2 embrios blasts .1 blast transferred.

I feel good ,I really surprised I I didn't cry
I didn't like that My Doctor or nurse didn't tell me this news.Medical assistant called.?!How this works?Who should tell the negative beta news?I know it doesn't matter and won't change anything.
She starts pushing me to take birth control pills so I could catch there cycle that they are doing right now. Didn't even ask me do I want to do it or not?
I told her that we would like to see RE and discuss the failed IVF not to do FET immediatly.
We have only 1 frozen embrio left that it is not good quality I think ( they didn't tell me).
Right now I'm expecting overseas guests and I can relax. need to do a lot,so I don't need to bother every minute my DH to help me.He is so supportive .! My DH and I decided to take a break .For how long? Will see. :!: :P
Good luck to all of you:
-those who already get BFP to have a wonderful 9 months!
-those who get result BFN -life is so beautiful and you should enjoy it.One day we will get what we want. Just don't give up!!!!
-those whose in 2ww waiting -good luck to you.!!!!

This web site was really helpfull during this IVF jouney and I'm gonna miss you.
Best,nest wishes

:P

Bean: I am so sorry about the BFN. I knew today was the day and checked to see if you had received your results only to hear the bad news. You have such a beautiful attitude, though. Yes, definitely take your time before jumping in again. Some wish to go into another cycle right away, others need to wait a minute. Follow your time frame, not the time frame of your RE's office.

Unexplained Infertility. I am so happy you are trying again. Let me ask, have you had your DH tested at all? Could that be an issue? Also, have you considered using an egg donor? I know it is tough to get your arms around this one (it was for me), but I finally convinced myself that it would be mine as it couldn't live without my body, my nutrition, etc. We ended up with 16 blasts from our donor (many of which were perfect quality). Just a thought.

Acupuncture is supposed to be very helpful for egg quality, but I think you need to do it consistently for about 3 months (1-2 times a week) for the procedure to really make a difference. I did (and am continuing) Acupuncture for my implantation. You are doing the right things. GOD, how I miss coffee and chocolate myself!
Me: 40; DH: 30 (Demi/Ashton!)
9/14/07: 3 perfect blasts xferred
9/23/07: BFP with 745.6 Beta!!! Twins

BabyB
I got angry at first at your suggestion of donor eggs (like I cant produce good eggs!!) :( but I thought it over and decided to try again with my eggs and if it does not work, then go for an egg donor.
How do you start searching, how do you choose the donor, do you meet the person? How much does it cost? I thought you might know...
And how are you doing? When will you know if it is twins or triplets? ;)
Thanks for your support.

Bean,
I am sorry for your BFN. And additions to the list? I need to have a godd plan for the next 3 mos.

Unexplained Infertility: OMG! I am SOOOOO sorry! I did not mean to upset you or suggest that your eggs are bad. I was just posing options and didn't want you to give up on having children if eggs were somehow an issue. Don't think for a second that I easily accepted the news that I carried a bad gene and couldn't try with my own eggs without risk of losing another child. My intent was to simply share how we have overcome our tragedy to rebuild a family. Again, my apologies.

Egg donors can be very expensive unfortunately. You have to pay agency fees (usually minimum $3,500 but can get as high as $7K), then you pay for the donor ($5k and up), then lawyers ($2K), then insurance for the donor ($400). It adds up and is very frightening. BUT, I'd mortgage my home to rebuild my family. Of course, if you have a close family member or friend who would be willing to donate, this cuts out lots of the expenses.

I am so happy that you are trying again with your eggs! I will put all of the positive thoughts out there for you next time. Each cycle is different. I must confess, after we have this round of kids (thinking positive -- nothing will go wrong this time!), I have thought about trying again with my own eggs (hoping that the universe will spare me and my baby of the same tragic fate of my dd).

Lots of love

Hi! I just had to share regarding donor eggs, its not bad at all and with your DH sperm+you carrying it, its still your child! I am in europe and most women in my clinic are happily pregnant using donor eggs and also sperm!!! I even asked some and they said its worth it than trying many many times with poor eggs...but of course they tried their own eggs first many times like more than 5 consecutive failures and once they switched, many got PG right away. I havent used a donor but I have spoken to many and in fact my clinic is more for this program to cater to women who mostly come from the UK...so Im familiar. Isnt it that you are stimulated less or not at all if you use a donor egg??? This is also why many use donors, to give their bodies a break from all the meds and not waste time...I also know a woman who used donor successfully, gave birth and used her own eggs later after resting them, and now she has 3 children...all IVF and she loves them all equally!

Of course nothing can replace our own but using that extra help to have children in case ours fails us (for the moment), is actually a gift we are blessed with at this day and age...my mom even told me that at least nowadays we have many options...during her time, nada! I think of it this way :) just to share....

BabyB,

You really don't have to apologize. I know you didn't mean anything bad but at this stage of my life weird things upset me. The egg donor is soo expensive. How do you choose the person? Do you know their IQ? Do you meet her? Just curious.
How are you feeling? Do you have nausea? When will you know how many are in there?

Tris,

Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate them.
