jen, congrats on being PUPO!!!!!!! here's to a couple of weeks of mild cramps and nausea!!! so excited for you sweet.

Just a quick update from me - scan showed that the babies has grown again, heart beats were strong (188/180!) and that the clot hasn't got any worse!! In fact Doctor thinks clot has got a bit smaller and is moving away from teh babies!! V happy and keeping fingers crossed it carries on like this. I have one more scan with my doctor (8th Oct) then it's over to a "regular" OBYN! I feel like I am close to graduating!!

love and luck to all you lovely ladies, sorry for no personals (AGAIN!) but I'm off for a nap.

Its good to be back home even though i'm always sad to leave fab Barcelona, i love it there.
The hotel was so nice, weather hot in the sun but getting a bit nippy in the evening and still got 2 embies waiting

Had my doppler scan first thing in the morning bu Dr Rotondo and all was fine. Basically the only thing wrong is blocked tubes so everyone keeps saying it should work----still waiting
Anyway then had acu and took a took my diaxapam tablet before ET so chill me out, worked a treat. Then had a chat with Dr Guix, who told us our 2 fighters had survived the thaw. I asked who was doing the tranfer today, it was the same gorgeous guy as before, Dr Zamora---freeze---i was scared the same pain would happen like the last time but D Guix was great and said she didnt want me to feel tense so Dr Fernandez did ET with the gorgeous one standing beside me for support :P Must admit i felt bad saying i didnt want him but he was fine. ET was then a breeze---cant recommend diazipam more highly. I then had more acu and fell asleep, then back to the hotel and slept for 3 hours.

I will try to catch up with all the news soon, going to rest.

Carolyn, Jen and Gill, thanks for all your support and tx over the last few days, keeps me going

Carolyn - Glad you have started your medi.

Sonix - Hugs to you, hope your ok

Love to everyone else

Hi. This is my first post as just built the courage to log in. I have been a visitor for sometime and have been reading everyone's posts on how you are all doing. I was wondering if I could join the egg heads post as have been having a very difficult time and now been advised after 5 unsuccessful attempts to go for DE. I have been reading all about IM Barcelona and have recently had an e-mail from them to say that they need all my records etc which I am currently preparing.
Carolynb and Jen1d I would be really grateful for some advice on when do they arrange for the 1st appointment. Do they wait for your records first. Also how far is the clinc from Barcelona airport.

Sorry but have so many questions, hope you don't mind.

Thanks :?

 Hi Lucy

Welcome to the board, you can fire away as many questions as you like, the girls are fab.

I just got back from Barcelona today and am a bit exausted after the trip but i would recommend it to anyone. The clinic is great, the doctors are friendly (the male ones are gorgeous  ) and Barcelona is brilliant. The only thing is, its expensive to have treatment there and sometimes can be frustrating as all the treatment is done via email and as they are quite relaxed they can sometimes take a day or so to answer, saying that, we got on ok.

IM is about 30-40 mins from the ariport if you get the train and metro, which we always do when we arrive, its so easy and then we get a taxi to the airport after ET, which is about 15mins. The clinic is in the buisiness area but only about 10 mins on the metro to the main tourist bit, La Ramblas although we walked it a few times as there is so much to see.

You can arrange your first appointment. Tell them when you would like to go and they email you with some dates. I havent had to wait, although Carolyn did but you can get a cancellation app, on the whole they are very fast with app. Once i got all my medical records sorted then we went out quite fast. After your first app, which lasts about 2 hrs then as long as they dont want to investigate with further tests (depends whats wrong with you or dh), then you start treatment on your next period (af), they are then looking for your donor. First with bc pills for quite a few weeks then patches for around 10 days then a scan, which you do in this country to check out the lining and then transfer (ET).

Hope this helps, ask anything else if you need to.

Love Jen x

Good on you for posting. I can remember that I read for about 2 months and then I figured that I had to jump in and there has been no stopping me ever since. But it does feel strange when you post the very 1st time

Delighted that you took the plunge and have now joined us. It suddenly makes you realise that you are not the only one who is taking lots of tries and also you are so not the only person who is using Donor Eggs.

Sorry that you have had lots of tries and it has not yet worked for you. As you will see most of the girls have had around 4/5 goes and are now on the Donor Egg trail so you are amongst freinds and people who know how hard it has been to get this far.

You can ask everything and anything that you like. We'll do our best to help.

Both myself and Jen1d are at IM but so are Gill and JenB. And Anna - our wise friend - has baby Matthew who is 6 months old - thanks to IM. So sure between us we can all help you on your way.

They allowed me to book the 1st appointment whilst I pulled my notes together. I contacted them via e-mail - you have probably done that already. They sent me a list of tests - HIV, Hep B & C, blood group etc. - to get done plus details of the costs etc. Most of these tests were I did not have them or they were not up to date then I got done by my gp which was FREE! I was told that it would take about 40 days to get all my notes from Hammersmith and ARGC so asked if I could book my appointment in the mean time and they let me do that. I firstly contacted them in late July and had to wait til 19th September for my 1st appointment. We just mailed the notes when we had pulled them all together but youi could take on the day for sure as they had not looked at them until the day we were there. I'd try to get an appointment booked asap as it looks/sounds like they are getting busier all the time - which is good as they are popular and very good but also bad as you may need to wait a little longer for your 1st appointment.

The clinic is to the North West of the City but Barcelona is not a big place. We are lazy so we took a cab from the airport to the hotel (Hotel Athena near the clinic although Jen stayed at Hotel Lille this time and thought it was better) and it took about 15 minutes to the hotel from the airport and about Euro 20. Some of the other girls have taken the metro/train and can easily let you know how to get there. It is all very straight forward and you should not worry about any of that as plenty of us can recommend hotels etc etc Then we just walked from the hotel to the clinic on the morning of our appointment.

The clinic is very professional and very modern looking. It would be hard not to be impressed. The good news is that they have donors available so I have waited less than 2 weeks since my 1st appointment and started birth control pills today to get me in synch with the donor. Would expect to be on these all of October. Then have a period at the start of November. Then patches to build up my lining and HOPEFULLY transfer by mid November if all goes to plan. You have a back up donor at IM just in case anything goes wrong with the 1st lady.

Please let us know if there is more that we can help you with.

Look forward to getting to know you better. Like where do you live? How young are you??

Hi

Jen1d and Carolynb thanks for coming back to me so quickly and making me feel so welcome. Reading your posts has made me feel alot better as been worrying where this clinic is etc and the costs involved.

You are both doing so well. Jen really hope your 2week wait goes quick and glade the ET was not too bad this time.

Carolyn bet you are excited as it will be soon your turn back at IM having your ET.

I am going to e-mail IM tomorrow and see whether I can arrange an appointment for November. In the mean time gather all my records together.

Just wondered how you place your details at the bottom of each post like age etc. Do you have to type this in each time. Sorry not that great with computers.

Tried to look at the hotels you both stayed in but unable to locate them on the website. How did you both book your hotels.

Have been reading all the information that IM sent me via e-mail which seems alot to take in. They are saying in £ works out about £7k alot of money but does this guarantee 6 eggs as don't want to misunderstand this.

Thank you so much for your support its soo nice to talk to someone who knows how you feel .

Hi to everyone else

Hi Lucy

Sounds like a good plan about getting your records together while you email IM. Have you been on there website, it has loads of info on there and video clips of all the treatment and the photos of the Dr's so you know who your emailing or chatting to---beware some of them are gorgeous

I always book my hotels through the Easyjet site as i find this cheaper than booking directly through the hotel website. For my flights i book with globespan or go on travelsupermarket.com and they find you the cheapest flight.

Unfortnately the £7k doesnt always guarantee 6 eggs. I'm afraid it depends on how many eggs the donor produces. I was very fortunate to get 6 good quality eggs and after putting 2 back, they froze the others for us but it just depends on how many the donor gets but 6 is the number they hope to get for you.

Go into the part on the board at the top of your message, it says profile. Click in there and at the bottom there is a box, fill out your details then submit with all your info.

Ok off for a shower then to chill, have been up since 04.30.

Catch up tomorrow

Love Jen x

Silly question, what does PUPO mean? :? I'll figure out all the lingo at some point!

Rebecca, congrats on the great progress! You must be so relieved that things are progressing so well! Welcome to Lucy and best of luck to Jen1d!

I've been absolutely crazy with school these days so not much time to text (even have a mid-term on Monday). Found out last week that a good friend is finally pregnant. She went through 3 IUIs and 4 rounds of IVF so I'm so incredibly happy for her! Plus, if all goes well we get to go through it together. Question to everyone: how do you know if you're having multiples based on beta levels? Her first level was 79, then 585 four days later, and then 2435 four days after that. To help her celebrate, I sent her the dvd of "Knocked Up". Very good pregnancy humor if anyone ever needs a laugh. Hope everyone else is doing well!
