Success stories needed, please?

Post by nicaliw »

Hi,

Today will be my first day of lupron shots of my very first attempt of IVF wit ICSI. We skipped IUI's, no point, not enough swimmers. I have been so excited and maybe a little too optomistic as my RE told me he thinks there's about a 65% chance this will work 1st time for us and that its unlikely to take more than 2 attempts. Is this just way too unrealistic? I have hung onto those words and have believed that in a few weeks I may be pregnant. After reading through so may people's stories I'm not seeing many short term success stories. I'm wondering if that because those lucky ones are not as interested in communicating on message boards or simply because they don't exist? Should I expect this to take months to years???? Any positive stories about this process not taking so long would be greatly appreicated. I want to keep up the positive attitude but not set myself up for huge dissapointment if I'm just kidding myself? :?:

I's also love to hear from anyone seing Dr William Schoolcraft as he's my RE.

Thanks for all your stories in advance.

Hey there!!

Well.. I'm sorry you have to turn to IVF but its really not that bad!!
I finished my first IVF w/ ICSI cycle in June and got my Positive from that IVF cycle as well. Today I am 21 weeks and 1 day pregnant and expecting one little baby boy!! :)
We tried to conceive for nearly 6 years without any luck. We had male factor as well with low sperm count, motility and morphology and I also had a blocked tube ! My RE was very optimistic as well and said that with our first try we had really great chances and he was right!! :) :)
It worked!!

Just keep your head up (easier said than done I know) and try to think positive. I am 21 weeks and still worry every single day!! When you want something so bad you just worry and want everything to be ok!! :)

Hope you have much success with your cycle! :)

Well I think alot of people disappear from the boards after receivng a BFP, but the negatives stick around to get advice on what to do next. I was given not so great odds due to high fsh, male factor and age. My first IVF resulted in 2 healthy twin boys and I hope you have successful as well.

success stories...

Post by LostGirl »

Thanks for the link to success stories. They were amazing and inspiring. My dh too had mumps orchitis, which is unbelievable, considering how few people in the US still get mumps let alone that nasty complication. Anyway, we are a little ahead of you, since I am a couple of days away from retrieval. Hopefully we'll both get what we want and need (babies!). LostGirl

I also got my BFP with my first IVF with ICSI. It's amazing how fast it all went. Before we started, it seemed like it was taking forever. Once you start those shots, it goes by so fast. After 4 months of ttc, I asked my dr. to run a few tests to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with me. She agreed, which I was surprised about. They usually make you wait a year. At the same time, they did a semen analysis on dh and we found out he had the issue. I'm so glad I trusted my instincts. We saw the RE in July and I got my BFP in Oct. We actually did a natural iui in July, because it was too late in my cycle to start the IVF process. We also had to wait for my insurance to approve it. I'm so blessed that it worked for us the 1st time. I really didn't expect it to. I kept preparing myself for the 2nd round of drugs. Hopefully, that won't happen.

Well, I am right in the middle of a success story! In March 2006, just a few months before our wedding, I had an emergency surgery because I had a type of ovarian cancer where I had 2 giant canteloupe size tumors on each ovary. I signed a form for a hysterectomy to get the surgery while my fiance and I sat there and cried! It was awful! 6 hours of surgery later, I woke up to find that they had saved my ovaries (not sure if they were going to produce viable eggs, but they wanted to do their best and give me a chance). So, we TTC for 19 months, nothing happened, did IVF in Aug. 2007 and got a BFN. I am normally a happy, optimistic, outgoing, lively, busy person, but this was devastating to me. So, fast forward to RIGHT NOW, we just did a frozen cycle and I am 5dp5dt and I got a BFP on an HPT! I get my Beta Friday and we are beyond thrilled! You have to remember to keep faith and PMA!!! We put our worries in God's hands and tried to relax more this time.

Here is a quote I thought of the whole time to keep me going,
"Faith makes things possible, NOT easy"

Hope this helps! (-;
