Kimberly--isn't it funny how it all works out somehow? Mine were a pain at nursing, but good sleepers. Yours are doing great at nursing but cause you trouble at bedtime. I think it's their way of keeping us humble, just when we think we've got the hang of it?! :D Hope those nipples feel better. Have you ever tried "soothies"? I got them at Walgreens and you can refrigerate them....ahhhhh...relief!

leah--Where are you from? Just curious. Your doctor's response about the heartbeats is just one I've never heard before, because they can totally measure it before 24 weeks. Most of us were getting to hear heartbeats early on. NOt that it makes a difference in the health of your babies, but it definitely is reassuring. Have you gotten to hear the heartbeats now that you're 5 months? Congrats and good luck! Oh, as for help....maybe your in-laws can help a bit over the weekends or on evenings, so you can get a little break? It's important to give yourself some rest/air/space, even if for only 15 minutes from time to time. I bet they'll be jumping to help!

Laura--Isn't it nice to sleep again?

srlegaspi--I've heard that's fairly common. At my 5 week U/S, we couldn't even see baby B. He ended up keeping up with baby A most of the pregnancy, but now that they're 5 months old, B (my son) weighs less than A (my daughter). Poor fella! Don't stress about their size yet. Things are just getting started for you! Good luck and congrats!

It's so exciting to be getting all these new twin mommies! Yeah!

Di--Happy 5 months to our babies today! Can you believe it?

My two had a rough day at the sitters. They hadn't been there for a couple weeks, since they were sick. Neither of them ate very well for her and fussed quite a bit. I hope that they do better on Friday. It's so hard to leave when they cry....Ellie did not want to see me go...break my heart. Thank goodness Grandma comes tomorrow. No tears, then! :)

Kim~ the same thing happened to me on my ticker. I had to do it three or four times before it changed. Try it again and maybe it will work.

If I have learned one thing from twins it is humility! Every time I think my infant background will make me a pro my children let me know who is really in charge! We had never had a "Blow out" and when my firends in Oregon asked us if we had tons of them I eagerly said "Oh no. . .never!" They followed this up by going through THREE outfits each that day!!! I must also say that a few of those outfits are stained now since we were on the beach and had no washer handy until much later. Funny how people so small can teach you lessons so big!

The babies are wrestling with being put down again tonight. I hope it won't last long. They really need their sleep. It's only been a few minutes so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Have a grea night everyone!

hi

Post by leahbusani »

hi everyone iam going to do an ultrasound on one of my babies heart. because one of my babies has single umbilical artery (SUA). so i hope everything goes well with it. wish me luck.

buckeyegal i live in Brooklyn NY. yea they never measured my babies heart even untill now. so maybe when ill go today for the check up of the baby maybe this tme they'll measure it. how old are your babies?

kholtan you know i read the book by Tracy Hogg " The Baby Whisperer" i don't know if you heard about her. she is really good and she talks about all the steps from the time you come home from the hospitalk utill the baby is one year old. and she writes step by step what to do and how to deal with your baby. but the problem is the book is mostly about women who have one baby not 2. but there are still good tips you can learn from her book. Did you get help from your hubby with the babies after birth?

my husband can't wait to hold the babies already but i hope he knows whats coming for him. so already now i tell him that ill need his help a lot after pregnancy and he can't wait to help. my husband never held a baby in his life and after his sister gave birth and she would ask him to hold her baby, he would hold the baby as if his carrying eggs and he is so scared because the babies are so tiny. but i told him "get use to it" but he is very happy about all this.

ok everyone wish me luck on todays check up on my babies.
bye for now

Leahbusani~
GOOD LUCK!!!! I will be thinking of you and hoping that your appointment goes well. They have great Doctors up there so I'm sure you are getting wonderful care. I use to live in NYC and Long Island (Oyster Bay Cove). Brooklyn is such a great place as well.

Your DH sounds like mine. DH wasn't great with babies before our own but he took right to it. Even in the delivery room he was holding them both at once. He tells people now that men with one baby probably don't know their babies as well as twin dads because twin dads really need to help. You can't just sit and stare at your dw if both babies are struggling. He had to figure out the steps to soothing and changing and feeding. Now he has mastered quite a few things and does so great. He always gives one baby their little formula bottles before bed. It's the sweetest thing ever to watch!

Kim~ Speaking of bottles! How do you do it??? Yesterday, I thought that I would just see if the babies needed more milk and I tried to feed them a few cc's of formula by myself for the first time. HOLY COW!!!! I had never tried to give them both a bottle at once and I had milk everywhere! Bodie thought I was crazy and looked at his bottle like I was poisoning him and he gagged on it every time I tried to give it to him. Annelise had half of it down her shirt and by the end of my 20 minute struggle I had formula from my neck to my waist! It was a nut house around here and I can honestly say that until they can hld their own bottles I won't be going it alone again! Do you feed yours at the same time? Mine like to eat together, or so I think, but I was a mess with two bottles. I better stick to my boobs!

The babies had a great night and only got up once. We seem to be going every other day around here. It's better than nothing so I'll take it! Today we have tons of errands so I better get ready. Have a great day everyone!

leah--good luck today and keep us posted! my dh sounds like yours and kimberly's. Not much baby experience until ours arrived. And like kimberly said, twin daddies HAVE to help. There's no option not to...he really loves them and is so cute with them.

I'm still trying to figure out this blinkin' ticker. For some reason lilypie is giving me trouble. ticker factory doesn't, so Imight have to go back to them.

Kimberly--The art of double bottle feeding is a fine one! Since my babies were supplemented from birth, they had no trouble taking from the bottle. So, that is probably your biggest issue. your lucky babes are very used to bb's now, so it might take some adjustment? I will say, I had to wait until mine were about 8 or 9 weeks to be able to easily feed them at the same time with the bottles by myself (so their necks were strong enough to keep their heads up?). I actually sit them in their bouncy seats, put the bouncy seats on the couch, and i sit my butt on the coffee table (which is right in front of the couch). Then I shove the bottles in! I was pretty good at double-fisting beers in college, so I guess it was good training! Now, more times than not, one baby wants to take a break, so I will continue feeding the other until baby is ready to go back. I usually take a burp break every 3 or 4 oz., and I burp one babe, then put him/her back in a seat and then burp the other. It usually goes pretty well. But again, I had to wait until they could sit with their heads steady in the bouncy seats in order to do this. And, early on, we had some doozy days, but now that they're older, it's pretty easy! I definitely like feeding them both at the same time, cause it saves time in the long run...at least for me! Good luck!

Finally got a ticker. I hate that it's gramatically incorrect! Sorry, the teacher in me. That's why I tried lilypie. They had an option for twins. But, I couldn't get the dang thing to show!!!! :?

Okay, let's see if I can remember this, Kimberly....try using the BBC code. I think that's the one I used. Then, only use the stuff between the [img] thingies. Can you tell I'm not very technically gifted? If that doesn't work, then try doing the same thing with the HTM code. you basically want the good stuff between the [img] stuff. Good luck!

The irony of it all. . . .I finally figure out my friggin' ticker and it's the wrong background!!! You win some, you lose some! :?

The babies are sure to be spoiled this week. They have a ton of family coming and I'm sure no one will want to put them down. What can you do? Hopefully they will rock their little hearts to sleep just as much as they will play with them. Good luck to all of you getting ready for family.

Better run. . .
Take care~

Kimberly-l-Yeah! You got your ticker working. Sorry if it's the wrong background. I still think it's cute.

I know what you mean about all the family. The fun starts for us tomorrow. My in-laws do a HUGE dinner the Sunday before turkey days with friends and family. I have a feeling that Ellie will get completely overwhelmed by it all. She's just so easily overstimulated. She loves taking everything in...but then she reaches her limit more quickly. I just hope people wash their flippin' hands before touching my kids. I do NOT want to get colds again!

Malinka--are you still with us????
