nimble - you caught me up with the poas then :) I did 3 in the first week too but no more since. My sister said she thinks its bad luck to throw them away so I've kept them but when I looked at them last night 2 had faded. Don't think I'll look at them again :?

Stephjim - good to hear from you. This last cycle was my last iui before moving on to ivf and I got my BFP - I really hope its the same for you :D

My cold seems to be on its way out finally and I'm feeling so much better today, just really tired. It rained most of the weekend here so I just stayed in watching soppy christmas movies and got all my pressies wrapped and cards written. I feel so organised

love to everyone

What is the typical timeframe for the retrieval after you start your period, for IVF.

Su- I can't believe saline spray is so dang much! We can buy it anywhere and a 2oz bottle (60ml) is about $3 here...It lasts forever!! I live through the winter snorting saline!!! Keeps those nasal membranes moist which helps you not catch cold, or if you do, helps flush out the critters :) Best of all, no drugs! it is a good thing you had 4 days off...sorry you had to bum around though, but sometimes that is the best anyways! Did you watch Love Actually or Elf this weekend??? Love them!!! SAAAANNNTTTAAAA haha...

Nims- Oh I was thinking scan was this week...I think the days are blending together with the holidays and wanting AF to show up....oh and my lovely job makes it all the more better haha. I think you should get some chocolate and some Christmas movies and take some time off too and relax :) Did you get the tree decorated or just got it?

Stephjim- were you on this board before or did I see you on another? You name is so familiar! I'm sorry I can't help you with the IVF questions cuz like Su, she and I are IUI girls. All I know about IVF is it involves needles and lots of scans and more needles. Hoping this cycle works for you and you don't have to worry about IVF!

Pumma- how's it going? Tomorrow is the day!!! Let us know how it goes! Will be thinkin' boutcha! Lots of follies big juicy follies!!!

Rachel- hope you are feeling better! I had my tonsils out 2 1/2 years ago (yeh I know, not really an option for you right now haha) but it was the BEST thing in the world!!! I have not been sick since! So maybe you can get a 2 fer 1 deal when you go in to deliver

As for me, weather wasn't tooooo bad by the time I came to this morning round 9:30 haha. Snow was tapering off and there wasn't too much on the ground. So I got my butt moving and headed to my parents to finish my Christmas shopping (which I did woo) plus got a few things for me (hehe). Never thought I'd be so excited to buy a new crock pot!!! But I bought a new cook book for crock recipes which are great this time of year so now you see why I am THRILLED haha. But in all the excitement of the day, I completely FORGOT to go get my blood test!!!! What a dope!!! So I have to do it tomorrow. DUH!!!! Guess I will go read my recipe book and decide what to buy at the store tomorrow haha

nite

Hi Ladies-

I'm new to the General Forum... I was reading over your posts; sounds like there are quite a few of you who have been chatting for some time. I hope you don't mind a new voice???

Stephjim, you caught my eye with the IVF questions. I'll be starting my 3rd IVF cycle sometime early next year. Of course all cycles vary, but I had a fairly "typical" cycle. I started BCPs a few days after AF and took those for 21 days. I began Lupron & baby asprin 2 days before ending the BCPs. I had my ER 19 days after starting the Lupron and a day 3 transfer. (37 days from AF to ER).

As for scheduling, shots were difficult for me the first cycle. My DH works evenings and we did am & pm shots. My dr allowed us to switch to all am shots on the 2nd round and that worked out better.

Since before I started my 1st cycle in July 07, I've been searching and reading everything I can get my hands on about IVF. I found a great book at the library (renewed it 4x), guess I should invest in a copy, eh? It's called The Couple's Guide to In Vitro Fertilization by Lisa Charlesworth. It has a 2 page spread outlining a "typical" IVF cycle calendar. I liked it because it helped me outline what I was anticipating along the way. It was the only book my library had in stock. I found a website that reviews 3 IVF books and the writer of the review seems to favor the other two books more.

Here's the site: http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... ation.html

Of course, there are tons of websites out there which will give you all kinds of info on IVF, but the one I wish I had found before my 1st cycle is for the clinic, Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago. It also has a sample IVF calendar and tons of other information including pictures. It's: http://www.advancedfertility.com/sampleivfcalendar.htm

Congratulations to all of you with BFPs!!!!! And lots of baby dust wishes to all of us still waiting and hoping. ;)

Hi ladies,

Hope welcome, sorry to see over this side, but the ladies here really are wonderful.

Jen1d, i am so sorry your having such a bad time at the moment, i know christmas brings the sadness in great waves. My DH has pretty much cancelled it every year due to our problems. I hope that the new year brings you lots to cheer about, take care hugs.

Steph, you sound well on the way to recovery, hope the witch turns up soon and you can start agian in the new year.

ICSI, hope your not working too hard, do your bosses not know its the festive season!!!

Pumma, good luck for today, hope you get a bumber crop.

Rachel, Aw Hun, so sorry your so sick, hope the tablets work and your fighting fit for the holiday season. Hope you enjoy DH works party!!

Nimble, not long now, you must be counting down the days? i found waiting for the scan as bad as the 2ww.

Hi to everyone i've missed, am thinking of you all. Take care.

As for me, my 8 week scan went great, both measurung bigger than they should so nice and healthy. Discharged and off to my GP tomorrow, for the once over then will get my midwife appointment. I am also getting an extra scan at my clinic on the 20th, due to having had recurring miscarraiges. Can have one every week up to week 12 if i wish, but its too far to travel 4 hour round trip. got to go , speak soon.

Hi everyone, I'd like to join you during my wait for my next cycle if thats OK.

Here's my story in a nutshell. my DH has ow sperm count so we just did out first cycle of IVF with ICSI. We got a BFP but sadly had a heavy bleed at 5 weeks and 3 days. I went to the ER and they saw one gest sac that they thought may be viable still. So my RE put me on bed rest for a week and rechecked my US yesterday at what would be 6 weeks and 4 days. My uterus was empty, no baby for us this time. We are planning on FET asap, probably around Feb 08, depending on my cycle. My HCG already dropped from 6350 to 380 in one week so I am hoping it will drop to zero in the next week or so. I have to say, waiting on bed rest, not knowing if you're still pregnant is pure hell.....almost as bad as the 2ww! I'm glad the wait is over and I am staying positive. I am going to ditch my night shift job as I think the stress of that played a part in the lack of success this time around.

Its nice to meet you all, I am going to scroll back a bit to catch up with all of you the best I can. Looking forward to sharing stories over the next few weeks.

Nikki

Rachel, he said you had a viral infection and gave u antibiotics? Antibiotics won't touch viruses...only bacterial. There aren't very many antivirals especially for colds (a few fer things like the flu virus then some for things like shingles). I'd hate to see you taking antibiotics if he thinks it is viral!

I just have to do a happy dance today...blood work back down to 4 (below 5 is considered negative) WWOOOOOO Now come on AF!!!

Jayne- that is terrific bout moving over to the regular GP!!!! Everything sounds wonderful, being bigger etc! That is quite some willpower to not take em up on the scan every week haha even though it is 4 hrs!

Welcome Nikki and Hope! This is the bestest board in the whole wide werld :D Seriously I love it here. Most are doing IVF, a tiny bit of us (me inculded) doing IUI. But everyone here is fantastic!

I better go get ready for hell, uh work I mean.

Hope, thanks for all the information. I just want to be able to plan it out as much as I can around work. I already plan on, if we HAVE to do the IVF, taking off from work the 2 ww. I am a nurse and the last thing I need to do is help a patient and cause problems for myself.

I am lucky with the shot thing though. I have given myself the HCG shot two months in a row, so I am not worried about how they are scheduled.

If all things fail this coming month, which I hope they don't because I want a baby and financially, I would prefer not to pay for IVF, then I will definitely start looking and buying literature on IVF.

Wishing all with BFP's many congratulations and wishing all waiting good luck in the next cycle.
