My progesterone level last Sunday was 161, and I think my nurse said that (for their office) they like to see anything 20+. So, at 16 yours might be a teeny bit low, but your RE must think that by continuing you on the progesterone should sustain you. And 1cc is a fairly significant dose, I'm sure if your RE was really concerned he would have you maybe supplement the shots with the suppositories...that's what a good friend of mine had to do for a few weeks.

Hey all-
Just got back from my first u/s scan (6w5d). We saw one tiny little adorable blob (it's so cute!), a yolk sac, and fetal heartbeat! Yay! Just scheduled my first ob appointment, and can't wait to see the little cutie as he/she progresses.

Smiles and happiness to all.

Sharishu: Congrats on your little wee one!! I cannot wait until my scan! I had some cramping at first..(the pain was more intense @ night as well..weird) and Now I do not feel anything. I want to see my little baby/babies to make sure everything is ok!

Dancinancy: So glad you jumped on over to this thread! The heartburn sucks doesn't it....my girlfriend told me that as the pregnancy progresses it will only get worse...she said she could drink a glass of water and get heartburn! Yikes!

TinaO: So exciting about seeing your little one all safe and sound. When do you go back in for another scan? I was for sure you/we were having twins.....now I just wonder if I am or not....guess I will have to wait until the 31st!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

hi all,

I have been posting here and there on the forums but now I'm making this one my home :) I am due 8/4 & last week made the switch from the fertility clinic to my OB's office. I had my transfer on 11/15 (two embryos, 8 & 9 cell) and had my first ultrasound on 12/17. That scan showed two babies: one looked right on track w/a good heartbeat, but one measured small and had a fairly low heartbeat (90 bpm). The clinic told me it will probably "resolve on its own"; i.e., vanish. I have another u/s tomorrow morning & am quite scared for that twin--and for the healthy one. I also have mild/moderate OHSS, which is still resolving. I am bloated and irritable and feeling quite miserable. I am intermittently mildly nauseous, sometimes ravenously hungry, wicked exhausted, and moody as hell. I have also had mild cramping on and off (none lately) and have atrocious insomnia. The bloating and the exhaustion are the worst. When I eat I feel like I'm gonna puke and I look 4 months preg (no joke). This is my first IVF. My partner and I have a 1-yr-old boy, Nathaniel, whom my partner had. The babies-in-progress are from the same sperm as our son. OK I think I've covered all the bases for now...congratulations to all of you. I look forward to sharing our ups and downs with one another.

MBG-
I totally know how you feel re: wanting to just see the cute little dot fluttering away. Don't worry, I had horrible cramping at times, but the little one was nestled deep inside, safe and sound the whole time.

I am home sick today. Actually, I've had colds off and on since I got pregnant. I am gonna take at LEAST today off and not feel the least bit guilty :) . I've been pushing myself through this all last week and now I feel pretty yucky. Anyone else suffering with colds since becoming pregnant? I read that our resistance is down and we are more susceptible at this time. Hope everyone is feeling much better than I am! If anyone IS coughing, what are you doing for it? I think I will call the teratology department to find out if there is anything safe for me to take for this.

Be well and comfy.

Shari, I know just how you feel. I'm now suffering from my 3rd virus/cold since getting pregnant. I just hope this doesn't continue for 9 months. I've worked in a hospital for nearly 20 years and have a pretty robust immune system normally so its really thrown me to keep getting sick. Unfortunately there's not much we can take other than paracetamol. You can try inhaling steam with vicks or olbas oil added to clear sinuses.
Hope you feel better soon

Su-
Congratulations, and I hope you feel better soon too. I just drank lots of tomato soup and juice. The soup was soothing, so I might have that for dinner too.

Hope all progresses beautifully and smoothly for you and all August Bump Buddies!

I'm dealing with the OHSS too, just feeling bloated & full most of the time. I was told to limit myself physically, "pelvic rest" was the catch phrase. That's a bit subjective though, so open to interpretation. DH drove three and a half hours to visit his family this past weekend & I was advised to stay home and rest...for fear of anything happening, i.e. a cyst popping - which I've already experienced. DH is coming back today and we're both off from work until the 2nd. Other than some guests coming to stay with us for a couple of days this week, I guess my number one priority will be rest.

MBG-
My mom said she had horrible heartburn throughout both her pregnancies, she kind of giggled and said that was a sure sign that everything is going well! Oh well, small price to pay!

Anyone know of a good website for food reference/restricitions for us preggors??

Congratulations to all August momma's:

I was hesitant to join and come over to the other side until I completed my third beta test. (Beta#1 @ 30, Beta#2 @ 66, Beta#3 @ 413)

I have failed a few clomid and inseminations in the past few years and DH and I tried IVF for the first time with success, but still hesitant to even believe we are pregnant due to all the other disappointments.

But we are officially pregnant and just wanted to say I loved reading everyone's stories and confirming what I was feeling or how my body was reacting. It has been an incredible souce of comfort and support even if I was a silent observer.

My progesterone level was low on the first beta test and I was placed on a an oral supplement along with my suppository of progesterone. Now I am at normal levels.

I have been reading all your levels and they seem extremely high (but wonderful!) and mine seem so small but I think a singleton.

My due date is August 28th and my first ultrasound is on December 31st for my 6 week checkup to see how many sacs there are.

BTW I had a wonderful scare since my girlfriend who we visited recently, her daughter had "fifth disease" and she was being tested because she is pregnant and her doctor told me to get tested too. But my doctor didn't seem concerned due to the fact that the baby was in the non-contagious stage when I saw her and I did not get any of the symptoms. Talk about being nervous and my poor friend who had to tell me after trying for 6 years and finally being pregnant. My heart went out to my girlfriend for having to tell me, but I didn't think it was serious, nor did my doctor.

Like some of you, I told family and close friends. I only told the ones that would be there for me if something went wrong. Don't feel ashamed or as if you are jinxing it. They are your support system and they will be the ones to send out the prayers. Plus the magic is gone, they know that this is a science project and not a natural conception so the magic went out of this for us.

Congrats again and I look forward to going through this with all of you!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Dancinnancy: Hello!! I found some great info on the website "Whattoexpect.com" On the side bar under tools there is section on pregnancy diets....it has how much protein, calcium, carbs etc..you should eat a day plus it has serving sizes...When I get a chance I am going to print it all out and take it with me each time I visit the grocery store.....If you have a hard time finding it...let me know and I can e-mail the article to you on your personal e-mail. My girlfriend said pepcid is ok to take for heartburn, she popped it like candy....I am going to wait and ask my RE on the 31st before I take anything. Take it easy girl over the holiday!!

Momma2be: Wecome to our thread....Isn't it the best Christmas present in the whole world!!

Sharishu: I hope you are feeling better. I love tomato soup too, it always makes me feel better when I am feeling in the dumps! I too have had a bit of a cold...nothing major....just some sneezing and runny nose. I have started to have a crazy craving...V-8 juice...I never drink v-8 juice!! I bought it because my girlfriend, going through IVF, dr gave her a diet to follow to help avoid OHSS...V-8 juice was on the list....I had my first drink the day of ET and I haven't stopped craving it since! I don't want my
Morning coffee and hot-chocolate...all I want is v-8! I guess at least it is a healthy craving!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

hi all,

Just wanted to write in w/an update after my u/s today. One of my twins is not viable; they could not detect a heartbeat today & it was measuring at about 6 weeks (I am 8 weeks). Thankfully though the other baby looks great, w/a hb of 160. It got so big over the past week!

Dancinnancy (hope I spelled this right) - doesn't OHSS suck??!?! The feeling of fullness is awful. I don't think I've been resting nearly enough...is your DH supportive of you resting a lot? You are smart for resting & taking care of yourself.

Seltzer-
Sorry about your twin who did not make it, but glad to hear the other little one is going strong. Take care of yourself.

MBG-
Thanks for asking, still sick. The V8 sounds pretty good to me too. Yes, it is a better craving than the hazelnut cream chocolate bars my husband brought home for me. Right now I am so stuffed up the only thing I really want is cold orange juice.

Momma2be-
Welcome, and many congratulations! :) :) I wish you a wonderful pregnancy, and your numbers seem to be rising just fine. Don't be intimidated, there is such a wide range of normal.

Best of luck and health to you all!

DH has been a doll! He's been very protective of me & is constantly telling me to just sit and put my feet up & reminding me that rest & time is really our only cure at this point. He's been cleaning, doing the laundry, & cooking - he's a very good cook! We hosted dinner last night (Christmas Eve), and I was worried that I would push myself too much to do things, but my mom and DH handled everything - cooking to clean-up! I have to say, it was nice watching them do the work - but I also felt a little guilty...b/c OHSS is not like a cold, it's not something I 'feel' all of the time, but I know if I overdo it then I'll pay the price later.

Merry Christmas mommies to be! Did we get the best gift this year or what?!

Much Love!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Thanks for the welcome.

I had an appointment with my allergist because I have severe asthma but I am optimistic that it will not affect me during pregnancy. Anyone else have asthma?

Funny how our DH react, especially the ones who have had to go through miscarriages or several rounds of fertility treatments or even worse had to have their sperm tested.

My DH has magically learned how to clean and cook after being together for over 15 years. I am amazed but he takes excellent care of me. He tucks me in and tells me not to do a thing. DH makes sure I have enough liquid and that I am not eating or drinking anything with caffeine and that I am taking my metamucil and medication. He's always been an incredible husband but he has really changed since he found out we are pregnant.

Hope everyone feels good today to celebrate with loved ones.

I actually (knocking on wood) don't feel anything but extreme tiredness but other than that no other symptoms. (knocking on wood again)

Have a great day!
