no no steph - this is a trolley Image to us.... or we call in the airline industry these as trolley dollies Image

now going back to Becky's word of the week - now that summonds a completely different thought in my mind - but shall not go there - way to rude

Now for boot is a 'boot' like shoe or we call the space in the back of cars a 'boot' - as for garage - we say it like it is spelt but again depends where in the uk you come from i suspose!!!!!!!!

The other one I find funny is pants - for us pants are knickers/panities etc but for you its like our trousers!

I can't believe also that you have to pay for rubbish removal although I guess we pay through our local taxes - Becks you must be posh - we lucky to get one black bin let alone a wheelie in different colours!!

ICSI - any news on the babies coming home - thats fantastic news about the number that have made it through - guess as I type your probably lying there with legs in air - enjoy!!!

Steph - adore the pup pics - they are so cute and a turtle or was it tortorise - I had one of those when I was little - it ran away
Suggest you leave your christmas deccies up for next year by the time you get around to taking them down - you'll have to put them back up again!! hee heee

Enjoy your voting!!

Becks - hows the sore bum ??? thank you for thinking of me last night - must have worked as all is ok.

right must get some work done today - !!!!!!!!

Afternoon Ladies....

Nims: Great news hun Image So happy for you - what a relief! You take it easy now ok young lady  Sending hugz to my cyber god son/daughter xxxx And some for u too of course lol (Im not just using u for ur baby LOL) xxx

Rachel: They didnt tell me how long i wasnt meant to drive for, i assume its just the usual 24 hours after an operation! I just havent driven for fear of the pain lol - altho i did venture out this afternoon to tescos - big mistake, im in agony now :( I even tried to buy a rubber ring from boots and my local chemist (stop laffing lol) but they dont have any, can order one in which takes 10 days - nice - or they told me to go down to Age Concern in Belfast (50 mins drive away!) and i would never - i mean NEVER go into Age concern asking for a ring - i'd ather suffer lol. I hope u dont get piles when u have the baby, u will know wot i mean about pain in the arse lol

Hope: Ive just found this hysterical site that gives meanings from English to American - ive only got as far as 'c' but get this one ...
chemist n drugstore. The term "drugstore" implies to Brits that you could just buy Class A narcotics over the counter. These days it's acceptable in both Britain and America to call the place a "pharmacy". Brits do still call a person who works with chemicals a "chemist", as Americans do, but they would also call a practising pharmacist a "chemist", while Americans would call them a "druggist".
I cant wait to get thru the rest of them - some really silly ones on here lol. Oooo how about this one lol ....
dinner n (N England) mid-day meal. This is a bit of a generalisation - the words "dinner", "tea", "lunch" and "supper" seem to be assigned to meals spattered randomly around the day in both American and English regional dialects.
Gonna have a squint about to see if i can find some more funny ones ... Anyway Hope, i have no idea what u are talking about when it comes to 'boot' there are many meanings here lol - 'boot' as in a shoe, or the boot of the car - where u would keep ur groceries or a dead person on the way to the dump lol - and we also park our car in the Garage that rhymes with carriage or if ur posh u can say it completly differently and spread it across ur lips like - garaaaaaaaaage (pmsl) but i cant think what it rhymes with - lol.
Ok, i think ive deff lost the plot now! I have a double garage, but we still park our cars on the drive, and our rubbish inside - mental!!

Steph: If its a tortoise, why do u call it a turtle? Turtles live the sea like crush does on finding nemo 'hey dude sweeeeeeeeet' - Tortoises hybonate during the winter and u put them in a box with loads of shredded paper - i was wondering what would happen to my tortoise (if i had one that is) if i packed him up here in the winter, then moved to Australia when its summer - would my tortoise be jet lagged for 4 mths, or would he sleep during the summer cos he thinks its the winter, and wot would happen to him if her woke up to find it was still winter but he was in Australia, would he go back to sleep for another 4 mths - or would he be jet lagged - lol .....

Now debate that one!!!!!!

Oh and Nims - i see u have just posted - how the hell did ur tortoise run away - they dont run too fast like do they - im sure u could have caught up with him

yup or as I call myself....pharmacist....only the old old people call me a druggist, I think it is cute

I say turtle cuz I can't spell tortouse  and turtles can live on land...you are thinking SEA turtles when it comes to Nemo. Tortosie don't need to hibernate if they are kept inside in controlled conditions, in the wild, yes they need to though...you know yur reptiles  I think if you gave the tortoise melatonin he'd be over the jet lag pretty fast....that is if the melatonin doesn't kill him in the first place. Then you'd have to deal with quarantine anyways I bet so I think you'd be better off just sticking some stamps on his shell and sending him "boat class"

play the theme from jaws in your head while watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul0gfCyeiyM

I'm trying to think up some words to play with here...chips = french fries??

Hi ladies, you are all crazy!!!

Nims, glad all was well at the scan, hope you manage to rest up and take it easy for a few days.

ICSI, hope all went well today and you managed to decide how many to transfer. Rest up and congratulations on becoming PUPO.

Steph, good luck on the job hunt, don't envy you that. Only 10 more days to goyou'll be pe'ing on them sticks again before you know it.

Hope, nice to see you doing well, keeping busy. Hope AF shows for you soon so you can get your next go scheduled.

Wishful, thanks for the good luck. Have you found a nice holiday yet?

ICSI, I think you asked a few posts back regarding maternity leave, We are all entitled to statutory maternity which is government run, from taxes paid whilst working, this is up to £112 per week for 9 months. Some companys also have there own cover and some have nothing.By law we have to take 2 weeks off after the birth. So depending on what you can afford we can have up to 9 months off.

re chips=frech fries you lot call crisps chips i believe. i used to get so confused when i lived over there thinking i was getting french fries with my sandwich and ending up with crisps. Also why do you call certain veg by french names ie: Rutabaga=swede or depending in the Uk(Scotland)
Turnip. And pronunciation i used to get looked at as though i was speaking a foreign language, when i got back here was difficult reverting back, and i still muddle some words even now.oh well!!

catch up later

Beach- that's Jayne right? Or I'm I retarded again? You crack me up...you think I'm gonna wait 10 days before POAS HAHAHAHA

yup the crisps things...those are our chips. As far as the rudabega thing, I had no idea those are turnips and are the same thing....I'd never order either one so I guess that is why I'd not get them mixed up.

Rachel- it is my job to drive ya'll batty...I put it on my resume I am sending out  did you get your Cadburrys? I think we only have them at Easter time...though I bet around here that stuff is already out in the stores!!!

Hope- I usually call it the grocery. And I agree with ya on the buggie thing. Canadians say funny things like aboot rather than about...just ask Angie, she lives in the land where they pick up that accent, too

OOO I got one.... elavator = lifts....I think of a lift as the thing u put your car on when getting a looksie underneath it and they put it up in the air....they usually frown upon people climbing on em hahaha
I say Coke for any kind of soda....My friend from Wisconsin called it pop...haha I find that funny.

Jackie--- I'm going back through posts and I can't seem to see my Yahooo post!!! I am so sorry if I thought I did and I didn't!!! I am so glad all is wel!!! Now you rest up and grab yourself some chips/crisps/rudabegas or turnips  nah...ice cream sounds better :)

steph - you did give me a yahhhoooo post - kinda of got a bit confused at first when you mentioned - I thought, 'why is she sending me a yahoo' thinking of the searching engine site - oh well never mind!!

now i watched that clip - surely its not real - any sensible tortie would put its head back into its shell if some big hairy cat got hold of it - this dumb one didn't bother so got me wondering............... and boy was it a fast tortie - perhaps it was mine that ran away when i was younger!! (btw Becks - it sneaked off during the night..........oOMG - do you know what I've just thought of - perhaps it died and my parents told me a big fat fib - must remember to ask them if it really did away!!)

ICSI hun - are the babes back yet hun - waiting for you to update ................. yooohoo where are you!!!!

Now going back to the word thingy - french fries I think of those that macdonalds sell - the thin skinny ones, chips i think of the ones that you get with fish and chips.......

Lifts are the things for us that people use to get from one floor to another - those things for cars - heck no idea what we call them - large car jacks??

Crisps - don't think you get half of the flavours we have over here - do you get Walkers over there ??? Especially the Walkers Sensation range - uuummm I'm addicted to crisps - have them over chocolate any day!

Jayne - its the big scan day tomorrow isn't it?? Good luck and hope all goes well - when do you get the results - heard they take about 7 days - do you have a blood test as well? Apparently my hospital does a combined test. It will be so good that you get to see your twins again.

Su - you've been awfully quiet - hows things - have you got a date yet for your 12wk scan ??

Yeh Su where are you!!!!

Jackie- nope I haven't heard of Walkers...we have Pringles though. I had to crack up at the large car jack thing haha....doo-hickie haha. Yup I recall the lifts thing only cuz one day in London we were leaving a station (I forget which one) and the only way out it appeared were 2 lifts...the doors looked tiny and 5 million people were in line to get on it (you say queued) so my dad said no lets take the stairs...there was a set of spiral stairs next to it and a few people going down. Well we started walking up them....and walking and walking...holy crap this station must have been in the depths of hell!!! People were laughing at us (the ones going down)...are we there yet? No, you have a ways to go...needless to say my dad was NOT allowed to direct us on the rest of the trip as to where to go! The next time at the station we waited for the "lifts" holy crap behind those tiny doors were these HUGE elevators!!! We never let my dad live that one down....I think it was over by the British Museum....Hyde Park???

Ok ladies, I'm off to hell, damn, work! So you are free from my posts for a few hours :)

That is great news Nimble. I am sure that any one of us on here would have been just as freaked out. Especially since it most of our first pregnacies and in some cases, previous miscarriages. So don't beat yourself up for being worried.

ICSI- looking to hear when the babies are dropped off. That is a good number to have done. You don't want 4 babies at once do you? :)

Steph- I like your name!!! Looking forward to hearing your BFP soon.

Su - How are you doing?

To everyone else looking forward to hearing the big BFP this month!!!

Me - I am waiting to start my period so that, fingers crossed, I can go for my scan that this ^&&^&^%^%&* cyst will be gone.

Hope everyone is having or has had a great day, depending on where you live.

Nims, my test is at a private screening centre in Leeds, another 2 hour each way trip, i will get the scan result tomorrow and they said the bloodwork will taka a couple of days, so hopefully i will get the combined result before the weekend.

Steph, ruffles are my fave crisps, sour cream ones, prefer savoury stuff to sweet. Altough theres another Candy=chocolate to you lot, candy would be sweets to us ie; anything not with chocolate. I do like reeces peanut butter cups, yummy.
got to go make dinner.
speak soon

Hope it goes well tomorrow but boy what a journey to get there.

Stephjim - doing a jiggy dance for you to encourage AF to arrive - and wish the evil cyst to go.......

Right thats it for the eve - going to sit and chill out by tv.........

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THIS CRAZY THREAD.
I'm still here, promise, but boy do I miss a lot while I'm at work. Don't think they'd appreciate me logging on in the middle of a busy dispensary

Becky, I love your Jack. I grew up with a black and white springer. We got her when I was a year old and she lived about 16 years so that really brought back memories seeing your pics. She hated baths too and always knew if you were running it for her and hid under the table.
I too have wheelie bins - brown for garden waste and black for rubbish, a green box for glass and tins (=cans?) plus bags for paper and cardboard. I swear you need a degree to follow the shedule for when to put out what

NimsImage
good news on the scan!

So if coke is soda, what is soda? Coke is just short for coka cola. I'm confused
I love crisps too - walkers have to be the best but sensations are just weird flavours. Yep we have pringles too
Rachel, are creme eggs in the shops now? I love them, although I'm not eating much chocolate at the moment. Went right off it before xmas and can still only eat a couple of squares a day (hell, I could eat a couple of bars before  )

Jayne - good luck with the scan tomorrow

Steph - think you need to get that tree down asap. It's bad luck here to have it still up after 12th night. No danger of that for me - took it down new year's day

Going back to the tea/dinner thing, Image
I would say that lunch is sandwiches etc eaten at midday, tea is sandwiches eaten in the evening (or a drink I have for breakfast) and dinner is a cooked meal at either time. Supper is just a snack at bedtime. Sorry, had to get that in, a bit late I know.

Ok I give up now. I know I've missed loads of you but I need to eat.

Quick update on me - I've got my gp appointment tomorrow to start the ball rolling with ante-natal stuff which I'm really looking forward to. I'm feeling a lot better now that the antibiotics have cleared the sinusitis - just would like to get rid of the constant headaches.
Bye for now, I need rice pudding :D

Hi nims. No this is with my GP, just to tell her I'm pregnant and get everything started. She already knows really though 'cos when I went last week with sinusitis the nurse went to get my prescription signed and came back and said the doctor wanted to see me. I thought she needed to check something but she just wanted to congratulate me. I thought that was really sweet - I haven't seen her for about 18 months (before starting treatment) and I've never been a regular but she remembered me.

BTW ladies what are boodies and onesies? They're talking about them on another thread so I thought I'd ask you lot.
