yea, we will see, but honestly, all the formula feeding freaks me out a lit bit. I mean the preparation of the formula, cleaning of the bottles, etc --brr.

I was thinking the same thing about immunisation, I guess it is better then all those nasty deaseses outthere...

Diane how is your assigment coming out? HOw do you do it with the movement and caring for your two little guys? You must be Wonder woman:)

babyB, I delivered at 37 weeks, I would go on probably to 38 +, but had an emergency c section due to a medical issue.

I started to work from home around 32 weeks. I putted myself on a moderate bedrest:) With twin pregnancy you never know when you r going to deliver. One day everything may be fine and next day you can be in PTL. So my advice to you, listen to your body and take it really easy after 28 weeks. Good luck!

Di--congrats on the good assignment! I hope your move goes well. Will any family/friends be available to help? I hope so! Don't feel too bad about the walker. I know I used one growing up, and I walk quite well and don't have any major head trauma to speak of! We have 2 sets of stairs in our house, so we won't do the walker. we do have an exersauce though, and it's the best. They can get up and move, while staying in one place. I feel like the babies are a bit easier right now. (Dear God, I better knock on wood as I type!) They're sitting up really well, and seem to be able to keep themselves a bit more occuppied. Ellie also rolls wherever she wants to go, so that helps too. In fact, she just started this backwards "scoot" kind of thing. It's too funny! Our dog thinks she wants to play chase! :D Braeden has just started to roll from his back to his tummy, but he doesn't do it very often. Sometimes I wonder about him...I'm not worried, but I do wonder...I am getting frustrated by other people though. I can't tell you how many people have asked, "THey're not crawling yet?". NO, they're not, thank you very much. I know it takes some kids a while, but it would be fun (I think?) to see them crawl around or pull themselves up? I'm sure it will happen soon. Then I'll probably be wising they'd stay still! ha ha!

Malinka--I agree with Di. You're probably safe from the supplementing. It can be a complete pain to do both. I think Di's right that once you start supplementing, you kind of end up giving in to the bottle, just out of necessity.

babyb--congrats on your pregnancy! Sounds like you're doing great so far! I delivered one day shy of 37 weeks. I'm a first grade teacher, and I was on my feet ALL day through most of my pregnancy. Around 30 weeks, my doc cut me back to 1/2 days, more for my comfort cause I was getting really exhausted. Around 33 weeks, I was put on modified bed rest because I was dilating a cm or so. In the end, I delivered C-section (my son was breech) at 36 weeks and 6 days because I had developed pre-eclampsia. Twin mommies have to watch out for that. My BP skyrocketed all of a sudden. I'd had a very pleasant and uneventful pregnancy until then, so it was a bit of a shock. Like Malinka said, just listen to your body and rest when possible! Everyone is so different and there's no "guidelines" as to what's normal. Good luck to you! Keep us posted.

Sorry I've been MIA lately. I can't believe Jeremy and Nicholas turned 8 months yesterday! Both boys now have their bottom two teeth and can sit up by themselves. They get on their hands and knees and rock back and forth but haven't figured out how to move forward yet.

Nicholas is getting tubes in his ears tomorrow. He has had 6 ear infections since October. He had been on so many antibiotics but the infections keep coming back. I am hoping the tubes will resolve the issue.

Kimberly- I hope Bodie is doing better. The poor little baby has had a hard time lately.

Kim- I agree, once the babies can sit up in an exersaucer and entertain themselves for a while, things get much easier. Just wait until they can sit on the floor and play with toys by themselves! I read to them and play with them for a while, but then they will play without me for quite a while. It's wonderful!

Babyb- I was on modified bedrest from 25 weeks. I wasn't in the hospital but had to quit working and stay off my feet. It wasn't bad as I was at home and could go out for short trips. I delivered at 35 weeks.

Here is a picture my mom took of the boys when she was visiting.

Gosh Lauralou the boys have grown! They look so cute in their sunny's. Hope all goes well with Nicholas tomorrow.

Kimberly - Hope all is well with Bodie - must be an anxious time for you.

Well, Harry is rolling and Bronte is almost sitting up by herself! We had them weighed yesterday and Harry has hit the 10kg mark (over 22lb) and Bronte was 8.2kg (18lb).

Just a quickie as I have lots to do.

Cheers Di

Hi gals,

Kimberly--still sending good thoughts your way. Hope you can fill us in when you get the chance.

Di--holy cow! 22 pounds! Your Harry is going to be a big guy! Both babies sound like they're doing wonderfully. good luck with the move.

Laura--Love the pic! The matching sunglasses are a riot! Do they like wearing them? We don't seem to get much sun up here in Ohio, so my two have NO idea what it's like to wear anything on their faces. Sounds like both your boys are doing really well! I bet they will be crawling soon. I agree about the sitting thing--mine have really started to get good at entertaining themselves while sitting and playing. Sometimes I am just amazed at how they will reach for different toys and totally occupy themselves (or each other!) They love grabbing at each other. I usually stay "out of it" to let them figure out how to deal with each other, but every once in a while I have to intervene before Ellie tries to roll on top of Braeden and smush him! She's soooo agressive! (Not in a mean way...she's kind of like a bull in a china shop, so to speak! ) GOOD LUCK with the tubes tomorrow. I hope they help Nicholas.

Good morning everyone!

well, I have read a few posts but really have been so busy the last few days that I haven't had time to post myself. Knowing we have been in your thoughts ( HUGS and THANK YOU!) I wanted to report back on Bodie.

His MRI Monday started off a little rouhg. They couldn't get the IV in and they tried three times while he screamed his head off and finally were forced to do it without sedation. We knew that nothing was going to be good news and that it would be a hard day. THe waiting was the worst part but in the afternoon we found out that he has what they call " Benign Exterior Hydrocephalus." Basicaly fluid all around the brain.

WE were obviously devestated and honestly I'm ANGRY AS HELL!!!!! the night before the MRI when we were up in the mountains I just realized that I have never been so frickin' mad about anything in my entire life! As the night passed and Bodie was in obvious pain I just sat there crying asking God why??????? Why us? Why Bodie? Why Annelise?? Why a baby so wanted when there are mothers who do drugs and smoke and drink while pregnant? WHy my baby when I ate healthy as I could, did everything right and more than anything I LOVED him YEARS before he even came to us!!!! Why our sweet boy???? I know I shouldn't be angry but my heart simply aches for us all and I don't mean to have a pitty party but it just is how I feel.

We see our Neurologist on the 29th and from there we will develope a plan and continue to learn more about it. All I know is that it is painful for him, he is more prone to head trauma (a very serious part of his problem), he will eventually outgrow it in years, there is no operation for it, and will most likely cause developemental delays in any or all areas. I wish I knew more right now but the internet is so unfiltered that it's hard to get good information that is acurate so I am not sure I will continue to search here. We are just getting by one day at a time right now.

Lauralou~ OMG! What a sweet photo! Hope your little guys tubes help the problem! It hurts to see them in pain huh? Your in my thoughts and I hope he has a speedy recovery!

Kim~ Sounds like you have been busy. Ellie is a little steamroller! :D How cute! Thanks so much for all the sweet words! They mean more than you know right now. Glad all is well!

Malinka, Diane, Lauralou, and anyone I forgot  ~ Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. IT all helps and we are grateful for every second that people spend hoping we are getting better. Hugs to everyone!

I better run. Annelise is talking up a storm in her crib and is bound to wake her brother up if I don't get her out!

Love and hugs to everyone. Thanks again!

Kimberly, girl, I am so sorry, I cried while reading your post, poor little Bodie. LIfe is unfair, unfortunatelly, but you have to stay strong, you and your DH are great parents and with your care and love, I hope Bodie will get better soon. Please keep us updated, I really really hope that doctors will come up with a great plan how to help your DS. Did they tell your what cause this? Are there any medications to at least ease his pain?

Kimberly please let me know if you need any help, I am here for you.

Your little guy and a whole family is in my thoughts!

Hello ladies!!

I have a little story to tell.....I am 9 weeks pregnant and had my first OB appointment today. I was released from my RE last wednesday when I went in for my 8WK U/S...Everything looked great with my ONE baby...This was my second u/s and we were very pleased to see a healthy little nugget with a strong heart beat........well....today I went in for my first OB appt. I am laying on the table talking to the u/s tech telling her about how we have had 2 u/s's and we have seen a strong heart beat each time....she got a little quite and said...."did you not know you are having twins?" I litterally think my heart stopped beating!!! I was like HUH!!!!

My poor DH wanted to come to this appointment but I told him not to worry about it, he had already been to the other u/s's and the last one was last week, so I did not think we would really see anything new...boy was I wrong!!!

Anyway....I have read A LOT of this thread, because before I had my 6 week u/s I was convinced I was having twins...then when I was told we were having one...I began focusing on one....well now I am back to focusing on TWO!!

I totally feel completely blessed and once I get over the shock will be estatic!! It was really cute...baby A is facing downward and has a heartbeat of 156 and baby B (the baby we have been looking at this whole time) is facing upward and has a heartbeat of 175....I am convinced we are having a boy and a girl! I feel a little sorry for baby A..it has been hanging out this whole time growing and getting stronger and hasn't gotten any of the face time as its sibling!!

Well ladies I hope you don't mind me jumping in! I have already gotten a lot of tips and ideas from reading this thread.....and I know I will have many quetions as I progress through this pregnancy!!

Marybeth

Okay, so hard to post today...so many emotions to deal with...

First of all, Marybeth--CONGRATS!!!! That must have been quite a surprise for you today! A good surprise, though. It took us a few U/S too to find our 2nd...although, we had a suspicion. I hope you're feeling well and enjoy this time! It goes by so fast....(as I'm sure you'll hear time and time again). We're glad to have you here and feel free to ask away. Between all of us, we have lots of experience to share.

Okay, Kimberly, I want to cry, scream, call you.....I don't know what to say to make you feel better. I wish I did. I can't even imagine going through what you guys had to go through on Monday. Poor Bodie did it all without sedation too...tough cookie he is. It is so hard to understand, like you said, why so many people get knocked up (without wanting or being able to handle a baby) and have healthy children that they then screw up with bad food, bad surroundings, etc.---and then here you are---and I'm not sending pity your way, you're more deserving than that---but you have been sooooo soooo good to your babies. You've just done everything possible to give them a good start, and damn, here you are. God has a plan of some sort, but still, it sucks to high heaven. Are you able to give him any tylenol, motrin for the pain? Herbal stuff? On one hand, at least it's not a tumor or cancer. So I'm trying to be positive, right? And now, at least you have some knowledge to go on. I hope your Neurologist appt. goes well. Until then, I hope you can manage to stay off the net. It's just impossible to get really good reliable info.

In all seriousness, though, Kimberly. You deserve a big hug. You are already such a steadfast fighter for your baby. You've been consistently following your gutt, and thank GOD because now Bodie can get the help he needs. As far as the delays, I wouldn't worry about that too much right now. Do make sure you find out if you can get any free services for Bodie though because I bet he could qualify for some with this diagnosis. Here in OHio there are a lot of early identification programs that try to help kids "catch up" due to various health issues, so they can be on track by the time school starts. You'll probably have to make some calls or knock on some doors, but make sure you continue to be his advocate. Thank Good ness you are his mommy....he'll get all he needs from you and DH and Anna of course! We'll keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Gotta run. It's been a long day for us, and I have tons to do.

Kimberly- Sweetie I am so, so sorry. I know you must be devasted. It is so hard when your baby sick. I can only imagine how much harder it must be when it is serious condition. I would be angry too. Remember, you are Bodie's best advocate, so keep fighting and going with your gut. He couldn't have a better mommy to help him thru this.

I am a nurse. I don't work in pediatrics but I still have my pedi textbooks. I looked up benign external hydrocephalus and there was definitely some good news. The condition usually resolves itself by 18-24 months and most children have no permanent disabilities related to the condition. He shouldn't need a shunt or surgery. I am sure you must be terrified and it is so unfair that your little boy has this condition, but this is a much better diagnosis than traditional hydrocephalus.

Kim had a good suggestion about the early intervention people. Their services are usually free or very low cost and they will do physical therapy, speech therapy, nutritional counseling and many other services to help children who may be a little behind due to illness or prematurity.

Please know that you and your little one are in my prayers. Please let us know what the pedi neurosurgen has to say.

Marybeth- Congratulations! It took us several sonos also to know that we were having twins. It is such a blessing! Ask any question you can think of, we have so many experienced twin mommies here to answer you!

Nicholas did great with his ear tube surgery. It only took 15-20 minutes. All the nurse loved him, as he was the only child there not screaming. He is such a sweet baby. Now if it had been Jeremy, that would have been a different story.

I am looking at big boy carseats, as they are getting close to outgrowing their infant seats. I don't want this to happen, as it going to be much more difficult to take them places when I can't just pop out their seats and stick them in a shopping cart.

I am planning to get Britax, just not sure which model to get. The bigger ones are nice, but not sure if they will fit rearfacing in my car without having to put the front seats way forward. DH is 6'2", so he wouldn't be able to fit in the car. I am not looking forward to shelling out $500-600 for car seats, but Britax are supposed to be the best. A woman I work with had an accident where her car flipped over twice on the freeway. She had a serious back injury and her DH broke his shoulder. Her 2 yr old daughter was completely unhurt in her Britax car seat.

What can I even begin to say??? Thank you all from the very deepest part of my heart!!!!!! I just sat here and bawled like a baby reading all your posts being so extra grateful for all you women. Thank you!!

We have told ourselves that the news could have been worse for sure. We are happy that the odds are slim he'll be effected forever from this and that is reason alone to celebrate. Simply difficult to find many reasons to smile over this although we are going to need to do so. We're already looking into all the classed for stimulation and growth we can find. Kindermusik, little gym, swim, gymboree. . . you name it we'll be doing it as soon as they can even if we have to wear our helmut. It'll be good for Annelise as well. She is such a cheerleader for him in her little heart! Again, thanks a million! I'll write more as we find out information.

Marybeth~ Congrast! What a fabulous surprise!!!! Hopefully you have a trouble free pregnancy and all goes well. Ask all of us anything and someone is bound to know something! :D You and DH are so lucky!
Congrats!

Lauralou~ So glad the tubes went in w/o a hitch! Can't imagine how much the nurses loved the boys! Hopefully you'll be getting instant relief for him. Good luck on the car seat search. I am a huge fan of Britax and am sure you will be too! IT's sad to see them getting so big so fast! Time?? Where does it go?

Uh-oh. . . .we have a crier!!!! Gotta run~
Take care~

Ladies, a few Questions:

--What week did you have your main shower? Someone offered to give me one, I had not intended to have one...
AND did you register for big items? Or small ones...I feel a bit greedy registering for the larger items

--I looked at the Pack n Plays, but they are so large and only go up to 15 or 25 pounds each...I did find one on Target's website (a Graco) that went to 45 pounds (need to research it more).

How useful are these? Did most of you buy at least one? Do they fold down for travel?

Also, re: cribs: I thought I'd get a 3 in 1 ... and use our antique dresser for the babies (they can crayon it up, we don't care, we collect antiques and have a gazillion pieces of old, old things!)...
BUT, I wonder: Do moms really end up buying the add'l pieces for the converter at toddler, etc stages?
What if the cos go out of biz?
Did most of you buy 3 in 1s?

Did most of you get bassinets for the beginning?
I've decided on the snap n go...and prob. a Graco car seat...phew.
I thank you in advance, I know you all are way beyond these decision making stages.

MG- congratulations!
Kimberly...you amaze me...Brodie is one lucky little boy to have you as a mom...
