Ok, no exercise. i will listen to you. I just assumed that when my doc said normal activity that it meant I could work out.

Yes, I am a registered nurse. I work in the intensive care unit.

Stephjim: I agree with ICSI - 2WW is not the time to get your workout on! I looooovve being lazy, so I use whatever excuse I can come up with  I watched the movie with The Rock as a football player who finds out he has a daughter.. forget the name. It was actually funny (thought it was gonna bomb).

Steph: Good luck with your interview. Can't wait to hear how it goes!!

Jen1d: My momma's sister was a prostitue and my momma lived with her (momma CLAIMS she wasn't one, uh, yeah right mom). So any way. My daddy came a callin for her hooker sister, and she wasn't there that day, so my momma says she went out on a date with my daddy (Are ya'll reading this with a white trash southern accent??) So my momma said my daddy had lots of money so she kept datin' him and then they got married. Now I don't know if my momma did crack, but my older siblings' first experience with pot came from her bedroom   .

I know, i know I won't exercise. I can at least go for a walk, though. I have gained so much weight with these stupid meds and the stress of it all. That it is hard to not want to exercise, you know? I guess I will just take it easy until I get pregnant and get through the first 12 weeks. Right? I wont' do any step aerobics.

Mia,

I just got that movie myself. I am going to wait to watch it with my stepdaughter next weekend. I also have Stardust to watch with her. Anyone seen that?

Hi everyone... another Question of the day...

I want to know about this no exercise thingy you are all talking about. I've had three IVF's and each time my doctors said the same... use common sense, no aerobic activity, but walking ok. Is that what you've heard? Also, rest the day of and day after transfer. But that's about it. What about during stims and after ER, any thoughts??? You've probably talked about this a million times before I got here, but just need to hear what you all think. You are the ones I trust!!!

thinking of you all! Hope today is a good one. Know we are waiting to hear good news from some of you. -chriss

I am getting a bunch of movies right now, so I will have plenty to watch.

I can't wait for May, there are a lot of good movies coming out.

Coloring Hair

Post by stephjim »

Has anyone talked to a doc about whether or not you can get your hair colored while pregnant? My regular hair dresser said she would do my highlights, but not put the toner on it. The highlights don't touch the scalp.

Anyways I am trying to switch back to my natural hair color or maybe a dark auburn because it is getting way too expensive to do the highlights every 8 weeks but I don't want them to grown out. That would look tacky on me. Plus my hair is naturally curly so it has split ends bad so it is hard to grown it out anyways.

Any suggestions?

I'm baaaack!!! All went well. This wasn't the long interview...that is Feb 13th. This was with the VA. They are interviewing 3 people for 2 jobs, and I was the 1st. The last will be in Feb, but he said after talking with me and looking at the other 2 apps/resumes I should "be confident in hearing back from them". He said he doesn't decide pay, it is some congressional act (ok not really but the process is done by some group of head honchos in New Orleans) and they would fight to bump my pay as high as possible to get as "competitive" as they can with the market, but at the highest, it would still be a $25k pay cut...Still livable for me and the benefits would probably be worth $25k to me. The process is long which is good for me...takes me closer to my quit day...but even my mom and I are totally plotting against my current employer and thinking of just telling em I'd back down to part time (only every other weekend) til my contract is up hahahah...insert EVIL laugh here!      So I feel good....plus I paid off my house painters today so now I have an extra $200 a month :D Oh and coming home I as feeling the AF cramps...WOOOOOOO...or so I friggen thought!!! DAMN IT SHE STILL ISN'T HERE!!!

Angie- did you get your bw done already and now just waiting? Well while you wait, what should I have for lunch???

Steph- I understand it is ok to still hillite, and even color, but the less you do the better. The chemicals of today are far different of those our moms used. I think you are beautiful just the way you are :) Unless you like me are trying to hide those pesky greys that are starting to sprout!!!! GRRRRR. Oh and I was waiting for that Rock movie to come out so I can get it through my Disney club I thought it looked cute too!

Chriss- I was told (for IUI) that I could casual walk...like shopping and not power walk while in the wait. Heck my 1st iui I came home and took a nap so I was horizontal to let the little swimmers not have to fight gravity haha then the iui that worked I had to run to work and be on my feet all day, bending stretching...so go figure haha.

Mia- that will be quite a story to scrapbook for your family history some day! Or better yet...family tree day at the kiddos' school :D

Hope have a good trip! Hurry back!!!

Angel- thanks for the good wishes on the interview! I think I was on good behavior...I didn't get thrown out :) Oh and that jiggin grandma looks like she is gonna throw out her hip!!!!

Ok it has only taken me forever to write this post...now you know why I do individual posts!!! Oh the mind of the ADD person! So Angie don't worry on deciding what to have for lunch I think it is gonna be mac n cheese...no idea WHY that sounds good right now but it does...or pasta salad. I guess I just want pasta!

Yeh this one's been driving me crazy since my BFP. All the advice I can find in mags, internet and asking 2 hairdressers is its best to avoid colouring at all for the first 12 weeks, then just have highlights etc where the colour doesn't really touch the scalp too much. There doesn't seem to be any evidence to show that colouring's harmful but no real test have been done.
I'm desperate to get mine coloured as the grey is really growing through now. I think I'll get it highlighted now I'm past 12 weeks.

Ok - don't know if this helps but I have a book about pregnancy and everything you need to know - at the back it talks of do's and don'ts - re hair dyes it states

"on the whole, these are safe - dyes and other tmts can be absorbed through the skin but the levels are quite low" it goes on to say " that hairdressers who work with dyes and hair tmts have shown no increased risks to their babies" alot to do with the changes to chemicals.

Personally I've avoided highlights during the 12wks (or come to it 12mnths!!) and have decided to treat myself in Feb, as with Su to cover a few greys that are sneaking through!!

Also I think on the general thread there was a post about do's and don'ts during 2ww which has lots of tips etc - however some are quite contridictory to others.

As for exercise during 2ww - I was told, carry on as normal but no sky diving  , horse riding, swiming however I chose to take it easy just walked.

Again different schools of thought - some say its good to get the blood circulating to the womb (so little exercise is good) but others say bed rest completely but then your blood doesn't get round......

Probably been no help what so ever but can't say i didn't try
