Hello everyone, sorry to have post and not return. I'm back, I do read the boards daily, but don't have much time to really post until the weekend. anyway, AF finally started Thursday and today I had my cd 3 baseline. My lining was a 5 and he said it was nice and very good. He looked at my left ovary and said that it looks normal and so does my right ovary. I have about 5 follicles on both sides. he said that was really good and normal and based off that I don't have anything to worry about. I was a little down b/c the last time I had like 8 follicles (small of course) on both sides. My blood work came back good. They want me to montior ovulation using OPks of course and when I get a lh surge, contact them so they can schedule me for a mock trf and a sono something. DH has to get another SA done. I have a lot going next week and part of the week after that, so I hope it goes by fast.
me/26 & dh/27 ttc since 2005 pit. tumor taking bromocriptine. Tubal IF. m/c on 11/06 natural. 01/07 ectopic preg, 12/07 another ectopic & both tubes removed. ER 3/12/08, ET 3/15/08 2 perfect 8-celled embabies transfered. test date 3/28/08. 1 TOTSICLE.
Thanks for the welcome and well wishes! I have actually been struggling with telling or not telling people myself! I am generally not telling most people. I have 3 brothers and haven't told them yet, and maybe I'll only tell one of them, but not sure when. Part of me doesn't want to jinx anything by telling too many people! My advice, only tell people you absolutely have to tell and the ones who you know they will be excited for you. If you are unsure of someone's response, don't tell them. It's hard enough to keep positive without having anyone else's negative vibes going around!
Hugs and baby dust to all!

1st IVF with ICSI ~ March 08 ~ BFP!!

I agree about the position on telling people. Most of the people in my family don't really know, just a few friends who I know will keep it quiet. It's hard to know who you should tell or not to tell b/c you never know how they will react--like my nosy friend. I know when I was almost going to cancel cycle #5 because I have to go for the actual e/r about 1 hour away and my dh had to leave by a certain time they were just ask someone to take me home. They didn't give me the earliest appointment as requested to avoid the whole problem, so they just said call someone to take you home. I just wanted to scream that some people don't tell everyone and their brother and even if we did others have to work, live too far away, etc to help out....
I know I can't control my dh's job situation, but if all goes well, he may get a different job by March. I have mixed emotions about that-- I think the new job would be a good move for him and we still have to pay the bills, etc. But w/ the insurance issues, I don't know whether or not that will delay my cycle or even affect it--concerned the new insurance wouldn't approve it since I have had 5 already and because I'll be 41 in about 10 days. (RI was trying to pass a law saying that insurance companies could limit coverage for IVF for women UNDER 40--but don't know if that ever took passed and took effect or not--I was never concerned about it since our insurance is out of Mass.) Don't know how long it would take for my dh's new insurance to kick in or how good it'll be, etc., but I would be willing to pay for out of pocket for current insurance under that COBRA law, for a couple of months if I had to--just have to pay the month's premium which would be cheaper than paying all out of pocket and possibly 20% under new insurance--plus if I am already approved w/ them when he switches job, I wouldn't have to get reapproval. I have to call on Monday to make sure they got updated stuff from my Dec. 2007 obgyn's office visit, and do one test in Feb. The more I can get done under this plan the better. I am hoping that I can at least get the meds as well. As long as we still have this insurance, I am going to use it up to the absolute last minute.
Can't really worry about what will happen in the future, which is hard because I like to know what to expect in advance, but trying to stay positive and trust that all will be good in the end. There's nothing I can do about it and whatever happens, happens for a reason and I know that things will work out the way it's supposed to work out (I usually worry about stuff for nothing b/c things always work out.) At least I am back to work, so I really haven't thought about it much--and that's good.
On a positive note, going out tonight for dinner and a college basketball game (Providence College vs. W. Virginia--I went to Providence College and they are just so-so, but it's fun to get out).
Thanks so much for the advice. I agree that it is best to keep things close mouthed so that there isn't a lot of judgement or questioning.
kbat- I am sorry that you have so many possible life changes occuring at one time. It is truly enough to just deal with the IVF cycle. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. These changes will probably be a great welcome when the BFP takes place!!!
I was wondering if anyone was familar with what is called a down regulated IVF cycle. First I am taking the bcp for 3 weeks. The last week I take the bcps and lupron. After that I have bloodwork and an ultrasound and start the follistyle and menopur. Where I am monitored with more ultrasounds and bloodwork. Is this similar to any of your cycles??
hi I am sara. weve been ttc for 5 years but, envolved in a religion that didnt encourage modern medicine ,but that if it is Gods will then...you know ,it will happen. Finally after realizing I didnt truly believe that ,but accept modern medicine as a gift of the times we live in.I decided to leave that belief system,(wich wasnt that simple)my husband joined me,thankfully. Now we are on the IVF journey. And im so thankful for every part of it,because it was so unavailable to me for so long.Im starting birth control with my cycle in a weeek ,And then all of the other goodies that im not looking foward to injecting!!I still dont really understand all of the lingo on this board,Its just really nice to know that I am not alone.Oh our problem turns out to be low sperm count.IM 35 and hes 49.
If you go onto the general forum and choose the second sticky- abbreviations/terms there are posts that explain all of the lingo. It is very helpful since it at first seems that everyone is talking in code. We're all in this together!!!
Welcome Sara and Alisha! You will find this is a great support system when it seems all those around you really have no idea what you're going through.
Kimbers - I am on here and DH and I are also watching SuperBowl, but I am afraid I have to say--- GO PATRIOTS!!! I really wanted to see the COLTS make it and Peyton and Eli go against each other. I really like Peyton, but since his team didn't make it, then I am rooting for the Patriots because of their perfect record.
Talk to you all later.
Me, 29 and DH, 34 -- TTC #1 for 6 years
IVF #1: Aug'07 -- BFN -- 3 embryos xferred,no frosties
IVF #2: Mar'08 -- BFN -- 5 embryos xferred, no frosties
My IVF journey is now over and I am very sad!
I was originally hoping to start my next cycle w/ my next af to avoid any potential issues w/ the insurance. However, the my nurse says that they need the updated pap smear and obgyn physical before they proceed--they require a new one every year. Why they could have told me this a month ago, who knows. My other clinic never had me do this--as the info they had was kind of old--and I do go in every year. Just went to the OB/GYN in Dec. But since the clinic only told me they wanted this info, I just went in about a week and a half ago to sign the release for them to send in the clinic the required info. I will call tomorrow to see if they got it, but obgyn's office said it could take up to 2 weeks to send. Then my nurse said I need another day 3 b/c I am over 40 and just had it at the end of Sept. (last time I checked 6 months from Sept. 28 is March 28 and maybe the insurance wouldn't have noticed and given me some time to complete it.)
As I stand right now--due to what my nurse seems to think I need--I will be a go for mid March. I am usually about 27-29 days w/ AF. Based on that I should get my next af on or right around Feb. 10. 28 days after that is about March 8. So, if my dh doesn't switch jobs/insurance before then and I get approved by the insurance, my clinic has info from dr., etc. I would expect to start my clomid on day #2 (about March 9) and the gonal-f around March 10. Last time I did the same exact regiment, and it was a quick cycle (started clomid on 10/28 and took trigger shot on 11/7 and had e/r on 11/9--about 13 days from start to finish (not including e/t) which for me is fast (in the past I was on stims for about 14 days.) So keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and smoothly and that things work out for mid March cycle. (this could change if my husband offically get his job and switches in the beginning of March, but trying not to think about that right now.)
Being from N.E. I kind of have to root for the Patriot's but not a football fan. So far commercials a little disappointing and stupid!
Hmm.. looks like I am probably the one one here not watching the superbowl ! I am not much into sports.
Welcome sara & alisha.
kimbers - I haven't heard the term "down regulated IVF cycle" but my cycle sounds similar to yours. I am on 3week bcp with a week of overlap with lupron. Then I have an ultrasounds - they didn't mention any blooodwork though. If that goes ok then onto fsh and another med (i think menopur). My understanding is that when I get onto stims there will be lot of monitoring by ultrasounds.
sara - this is my first ivf cycle too and I was very very scared of needles to. But I started my lupron shots last thursday and its not so bad. The clinics usually have injection training sessions before you start the shots.
kbat - I am sorry to hear about all the insurance troubles. I pray that everything goes as you have planned.

Sorry for not writing much this past week. Seems the blues have hit me. I'm on the Estrace (sp?) AND PMS.. so my world is a tad off. I know that my nurse said the estrogen wouldn't have any side effects but I just seem REALLY short fused and bitchy. normally with my PMS I get tired and hungry.. not so much this time. Guess it's all par for the course. I should start AF later on this week. Which is before my injection class. So.. I'm the lucky one that gets to give myself the Menopur before going to the class. Wow.. I'm just griping about everyone. Ok ok.. No more of that stuff. Everything will work and this is ALLL worth it
Welcome all the new ladies.. It's great to see y'all with us. I know some of us are getting ready for an end of Feb ER/ET and looks like the rest are mid march? We'll do great guys. Seems like most of us are 1st timers too huh?
How's everyone doing? Things going ok out there in the IVF world?
