I definately heard no sex during 2 WW...not sure about 1st trimester so ask your doctor lots of questions!

Runner - glad your parents made it and you are onto the next phase! P.S. I have a sister who lives in Alexandria and I love Old Town!!

Kbat - hoping things are going well as I type...I think you're literally in your E/R now!

If I've missed anyone forgive me - my E/R is at 3pm and I'm at work but a bit distracted! I figured I'd come in to keep busy and leave at Noon...geeez I wish I could have a cup of decaf - nothing to eat/drink after 730am...

Hi Ladies!
I knew about no sex during the 2ww but never heard of anything after that. I am definitely going to ask the dr when the time comes. That is just crazy!!! Why do IVF girls have to suffer so much? :)

IrishHope: Good luck today. When I had my 3:00 PM ER, they said I couldn't eat anything after midnight. They said make sure you eat at that time because you won't be able to eat/drink again until after the ER. I thought that was ridiculous that they would give the same midnight restriction to people getting it done at 9:00 AM and people going in at 3. Now I know they were wrong! 7:30 is still rough. It's just a few more hours away. I hope it goes by quickly for you and that all goes well this afternoon. Good Luck!

Kbat: I hope all is going well with your retrieval! I am praying for you that this is your cycle!!!

JustJenis, Beaner: Good luck to you both today too. I hope your retrievals go well and you get many eggs!

CornyBaby: Good luck with your transfer today. How many are you going to transfer?

RunnerKate: I am glad your transfer went well and that you were able to enjoy yourself at dinner with your parents and husband. You are now officially in the 2ww!!! What day do you get to go in for a beta test?

I had a question for everyone, what do your doctors recommend for vitamins to be on during your cycle? I have heard some people take pre-natal vitamins and my doc said any multivitamin is good as long as it has enough folic acid. I was just wondering if others had the same advice? Also, is anyone taking baby asprin as part of their protocol after transfer?

Good luck Ladies!!! You are almost on the home stretch!

thanks for everyone's prayers and well wishes. Had e/r today. Only got 2 eggs-slightly disappointed b/c I thought they may get 3 or 4. But last time, there were only 2 and things went o.k. overall. One thing I was surprised at though b/c they didn't tell me until today was that I was going to have a day 2 transfer instead of a day 3. W/ the other clinic I always had a day 2, but I remember this doctor saying they don't like day 2 transfers. Oh well, I will follow the program and hope for the best. Just hoping that we don't get the 5-8 inches of snow tomorrow night, so that things won't be affected.....

good luck to the others having their e/r or e/t today :)

My nurse DID say no sex for 1st trimester. I wish I had known! I was not feeling into it AT ALL this past week, what with my lovely distended belly, holes all over me, and constant vaginal ultrasounds. If I had known we were heading towards a 3 month desert, I would have made it happen!

14 days to go....I test on 3/5. I am going to try to keep myself as busy as possible!

Irish Hope--Good luck today! Make your hubby get your favorite meal for a treat after the procedure.

CornyBaby--Good luck today. It is a breeze.

Itsgottawork--I have been taking a pre-natal vitamin for ~2 years now....I would just do the pre-natal just in case. It can't hurt.

courtney--don't worry...the needles, etc. will soon become more than manageable.

kbat--remember they only need 1-2 good ones to put in. think positive...and snow will be a perfect excuse to nest.

JustJenis--good luck today! take care of yourself!

PS--for any of the ladies waiting after ER for ET or who have already done ET...

Did you feel oddly liberated after the embryos had been removed? I kind of felt like I had a short repreive from being a "vessel" and could drink a coke zero/party if I wanted to....strange feeling and just wondering if I was the only one.

Hi Ladies,

I hope all of the ERs went well today. Please let us know how you are feeling.

I was wondering did anyone else had the pleasure of having AF for their first u/s? My nurse said it was possible that I would get AF when the bcp finished- well she was right and I have my first u/s to look at the follies tomorrow. I called the office and they said it happens all the time and to still come. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this

Hi kimbers,
I had to reply to this because I just had this experience on Tuesday morning. For the last cycle, AF was just ending so it wasn't so bad but this time, she was here and HEAVY!!! I was not thrilled to have the u/s when I was bleeding so much but they said to come in anyway. It wasn't a great experience but I was happy to get it done with and to get to start stims.
The technician was really nice about it because I definitely felt embarrassed. She did say it happens pretty often which made me feel a little better. They cover up the probe but it was still kind of uncomfortable knowing I was bleeding.
I think it is just another one of those things we have to grin and bear while going through this process. I have no words of advice except it will be done with soon!
Good Luck!

kimbers312...my RE actually requires the AF for the u/s. Mine is next Wednesday, four days after stopping BCP. I already experienced this once during my diagnosis phase. Not the most pleasant experience, but it doesnt last long!!!! It is uncomfortable because of bloating or cramping, but doesnt hurt.

I tend to embarass very easily, i know my face was red!!!

Oh the trials and tribulations of IVF!!!!

Ok - so the shots have definitely gotten easier, but my DH is still giving them to me, which is just fine by me. I figure it keeps him involved in the process, and amazingly so, he's really pretty good at it.

Someone awhile back, sorry - can't remember who, asked if they were more "regular" now. And I'd like to give a huge YES to that!! I have u/s tomorrow and start stims on Sunday.

Who is the "ghost" I keep seeing people ask questions to?

IrishHope - I asked my RE specifically about deoderant, and he said that it was okay.

itsgottawork - I've been taking baby aspirin since before I started the injections. I'm pretty sure I take it up to the ER, but not after. I'm also taking a prescription pre-natal vitamin, but it wasn't "mandatory" either.

courtney - Yep - I freaked out when I received the supply box too, but it's not bad when you look at each medicine individually. My best friend called it our "baby in a box". I thought that was cute. I don't know about everyone else, but my trial transfer was bearable, but definitely not comfortable. I wasn't expecting that, so I wish that I had asked ahead of time what exactly to expect. I'm sure yours will be more comfortable than mine though. I also had several days of breakthrough spotting, which I was told was normal. I told my DH that I just live in the land of the irritated uterus. Ugh!

kbat - It only takes 1 to make it, so we'll hope and pray for some strong embies.

cornybaby - Excellent on the 4 embies.....go embies go.

kimbers312 - Oh yes - AF and u/s - definitely happens all the time. I've been told several times that they actually prefer it, because they can see everything better. I don't know if that's the truth, or if they were just trying to make me feel better. I'll have an u/s tomorrow with AF in tow too.

Thank God tomorrow is Friday.

itsgottawork - I am on folic acid and pre-natals.. nothing else.

courtney - yeah.. the medicine box can be overwhelming but just try to focus on the one you have to take and you will be fine.

kimbers312 - I have had so many u/s with AF (before the start of every IUI cycle my RE did a day 3 ultrasound) now that I think I am becoming less and less embarassed! I think most of mine so far have ended up on day 3 of AF which isn't too heavy. I guess this is just another thing we have to live with!

cornybaby - congrats on a successful ET.. 4 embies sounds awesome.

Hoping to see BFPs here soon!

Evening all!!!

Just a quick update.. had our E/R today at about 11am. we got 9 EGGS!!! I was in shock! I had to ask them a few times if that was right. The procedure wasn't bad at all. They knock you out completely and when I woke I wasn't that uncomfy. It felt like a rough pap smear. Took some tylenol and a long nap and i'm ok. Achey more than painful to be honest. Tomorrow they will call with the update on fertilized and such. I will keep y'all updated.

Kimbers- I had Day 3 and Day 5 ultrasounds through 2 periods. They require it at our clinic. They told me that they do that in order to see the lining and how it thickens and thins. Every woman is different and they get a baseline of both for you so that when you do the stims.. they know your thickest and thinest. Hope that helps hun *HUGS*

Itgottawork- I've been on prenatal the whole time. I have to admit that somedays I forget to take them but that's the only vit I"m on.

Courtney - When i got the meds in i couldn't believe just how many there were. BUT remember to take it one day at a time cause things change throughout all this. I have meds that I didn't take. So just one day at a time and it'll go by without a hitch.

Cornbaby - WOOOHOOO! Grats on the 4 embies!!! That is wonderful. Be sure to pamper yourself now. You so deserve it hun *HUGS*

I was wondering.. those that did the ET already... I am kinda freaking out about it. I didn't do well with my saline sonogram and i'm REALLY hoping that the transfer doesn't feel like that at all cause I truly don't know that I can sit still if it's that painful. Those that have done it can you help me out here and let me know what to expect.

*HUGS* Thanks all!!!

Hello
I had my ER today. Out of my whopping 4 follies came 4 eggs. Whoo hoo. We are sooo happy with that. When you don't have a lot to work with, it sure makes a difference kknowing that we have the 1 or 2 extra.

I wasn't knocked out, I guess every clinic is a bit different.

Kimbers-I had a day 2 ultrasound, bit messy and weird, but overall not a big deal

Ittsgottawork-All I have been taking is prenatal

Good luck to everyone else. Now we just wait until tomorrow to find out how our embies are going.

Hi ladies,

I have only been told to take a mulit vitamin as well. I also will take a baby aspirin everyday.

Tonight is my last night for the BCP so i guess that is one more step down. I have my first ultrasound on Tuesday and then will start the repronex and follistim the following Monday--just wish the days would go faster.

JustJenis- I know during my last cycle the saline sonogram was very uncomfortable but when it came time for the transfer it wasn't bad at all. I do take a valium pill about an hour before so that must help. I have had two transfers and prefer that over the retreival.

Talking about retrievals--i was curious as to how you all did yours. After the retrieval last time I couldn't keep anything down for several hours afterwards. I was put out for it and assume this was just a reaction to the anesthetic. I was just wondering if you were all giving an anesthetic for the retrieval. I plan on talking with my doc on Tuesday about seeing if I have any other options because i am absolutely dreading the retreival because of how sick I got. I have only had an anesthetic twice in my life and was horribly sick both times afterwards. Not to scare anyone about the retreival process--I wasn't even sore or anything afterwards I didn't need tylenol or anything not that i would have kept it down anyway.

It is exciting that some of you already have had retrievals and a few transfers....that just means the rest of us are that much closer.
