I got general for mine. Completely out. I've had MANY surgeries in the past and the only side effect I get is extreme cold when I wake up. My hubby thought i was having a seizure from the shaking. I get blue in the lips.. whole 9 yards. I was REALLY glad to hear that they knock us out. I guess that's why I was worried about the transfer.. didn't know if it would be painful like the saline sonogram or feel like a normal pap smear.

JustJenis--the ET was a BREEZE. It was much more comfortable than the IUI and HSG I had. Just slept for 2 hours after and then I was up and walking around!
J&C--that was me re: regularity. I thought this stuff was supposed to be causing constipation. I have NOT had that experience.
ALSO: WHO IS GHOST? An RE?
So, I had a LOT more cramping after the IUI last time. Why no cramping with the ET?
Good luck all ER/ET ladies!
Off to watch LOST!

Hello Courtney...we are just a couple of days apart. I actually got my meds Tuesday and i was so overwhelmed w/ them until i sat down and dh and i went through them. Then I had my injection and trial trf yesterday. Girl, I was scared of the PIO shot. i had the progesterone in oil, my doc office uses a different kind of progesterone...it is called progesterone ethyloleate. it is thinner and the needles for it is thinner too...but i wasn't fortunate enough to get it. But, we had gone over that in the class and EVERYONE was afraid of that needle. Anyway, i was terrified of the trial trf as well. I never had a IUI so i didn't know how it would feel, but i've had 2 hsg so i assume it would be like that. Well, it was better and I didn't feel anything. I mean anything. the only i did feel was the spectulum they put in to open you (like a pap smear). the full bladder was a mess, but they allowed me to drain SOME of it. anyway, iot was a good experience and i also had a sonohystergram as well to see how my uterus looked and i didn't have any problems w/ that. ANYWAY, so to go on about it, but i think we are starting the same medications. my er should be on 3/13 and my et should be on 3/18 (tentatively).

I see that you weren't Knocked out for the retreival. Did they give you any pain meds or anything. Just curious so I have an idea of what to ask my doc on Tuesday. Thanks!

Yes, in the waiting/prep area I was given an adavan (to reduce anxiety) and 2 x strenght tylenol. Then in the procedure room I was given some morphine and something else. Sorry, I don't remember the name. The the RE used a needle to freeze each ovary before retrieving the eggs. It had a slight twinge to it, but it did not hurt at all. During ER, I did feel slight pressure, but again, it did not hurt andyou got to watch the U/S drain the follicle.
The drugs hit me quickly and wore off quickly. We waited about 30 minutes and then left. I came home and slept for a couple of hours and I feel great. I am not in any pain at all. In fact it feels so much better sitting now than it had the last 3-4 days due to the follicles being so full and large.
Personally, I prefer this than to be knocked out. I like to know what is going on and watch and Gerry was right there beside me. As they were capturing the eggs, I was pretty loopy so didn't know where they went but I know the lab was right there and they were yelling back to us each time they had one. It was kind of cool. The whole thing took about 10 minutes. If you get a c hoice, I would recommend this.
Good luck

I am taking a multi vitamin w/ folic acid and that's it so far.
As for the baseline ultrasound with AF - yup, been there done that. The technicians see it all the time - it didn't bother me at all - my thought process is whatever it takes to get to the next step in the process I will suck it up and do it!!
Courtney - when I got my box of meds it was def. overwhelming - I sorted just what we would need initially and put the rest in another room tucked away...then as we moved onto the next meds I'd get those out - it helped me not be so overwhelmed...Good luck!
Congrats to all the E/R. My retrieval went fine yesterday - they were running bheind which makes me very anxious so I did get a little teary but then I was in and out...the staff were awesome. Woke up 25 minutes later in recovery where doc said he retrieved 22 ...fertilizaiton report later today. I am crampy but tylenol every 4 hours is doing the trick... I'm at work.
I did however, get sick in a bag during rush hour traffic on major highway...thank god we have a dog we keep bags in the truck! It wasn't bad just the ginger ale they gave me in recovery...hahaha so gross though!
oh my dco said test date is 3/10 uhm that is 18 days...I am definately POAS!!!!
ER went fine. I'm a little crampy today but nothing the Tylenol isn't taking care of. I actually feel less bloated. They just called and we didn't have to use ICSI.. out of 9, 4 fertilized. We go in Sunday for the ET!
I'm sooo nervous about the ET.. after the saline sonogram I'm freaking out.

Hi ladies! Just did my trial transfer...easy breezzyy!!! I love checking things off the 'IVF to-do List'!!!
We did the injection teaching. I gave myself a shot in the tummy, and DH did one in the hip. Just practiced sticking the needle in, no injection!!
I will start Lupron on 2/28, Follistim on 2/29...
keita...glad you made it to this board!! Here's hoping to our BFPs the week of 3/24!!!! HAve you been on Lupron? I am doing micro-dose Lupron, so I am starting a bit later.
I just got my big box of meds today. I start my microdose Lupron on 02/27 and Gonal F and Menopur on 02/29, so we are pretty close in our cycles.
My mail order pharmacy did not have the HCG shot, they said the manufacturer said they were back ordered and did not know when they would have, but luckily my clinic's pharmacy had it and the insurance company accepted that, so we are very blessed about that.
I can't wait to get started on the road to a BFP this time.

Good morning! Just got back from my u/s this morning. My follies have grown but not as much as we were hoping . So as of this morning there are definitely 2 big ones in the 17/18 range and 2 in the 13mm range - the dr said that hopefully the smaller 2 will catch up in a day or so giving us atleast 4 to work with. I am up for an u/s and b/w again tomorrow. At this point I would be so happy if we have atleast 4 to go with but I am willing to settle for 2 good egs that fertilize and give good embies!! We were going to do 50-50 icsi/non-isci but given the low number of egss it will be all icsi now. Right now they are predicting that ER would be monday or tuesday.
JustJenis - 4 embies.. thats awesome! I am sure you will do fine in ET.
IrishHope - did you say 22 eggs!!! WOW. I am so happy for you.

Kind of disappointed. The last 2 times they only got 2 eggs (usually get 3 or 4). this time they got 2 and only 1 fertilized. I know it only takes one, but I would have liked a "cushion"--especially given this is my last time--especially since I usually always had 2 or 3 to transfer. But I guess it could have been worse--been there and done that too w/ NO e/t. E/T will be tommorrow at 12:30 if all stays well. They will call me in the morning to make sure embryo is still viable. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the one. It's out of my hands now and whatever happens I will have to accept it--but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed if it fails.
