Hey Tina - I forgot to say in my post that it was great to see your pics. When are you going to post some of your bump? We should all share our pics, I think. I will as soon as I figure out the best way of going about it...

Hi girls!

Time is flying by! Last week was a bit hectic, and DH and I just got back from a weekend visit to see his parents.

I had the nuchal scan u/s done last week, the tech said everything looked great, but I won't find out my numbers until my Dr's appt on Wednesday. The u/s machine used for the scan was super high tech...not even kidding...it was HDTV! We could see the bones, right down to the teeny tiny finger bones! It was crazy to see the bones in the arms and legs, especially when the baby was kicking and punching! I'll have to figure out how to post the two pics they gave us...one had the profile of the baby...you can clearly see the tiny nose & lips...UNREAL!

Good to see that everyone is progressing well! I had a ton of reading to do to catch up on all of you!

Tryw8:Thanks for all the info! How did your cook out go? Were you able to keep the cat in the bag? There is NO way I could hide my pregnancy from my family at this point....but I am carrying two, so I am sure I am quite a bit larger than you are! When does your Doc feel it is safe to tell the world? I am sure you are going to want to shout it from the mountain tops! I know I did !

Seltzer: Sorry to hear you are still having such a difficult time! I hope you are able to find some gastrointestinal relief in the near future!! You are SO Strong! I just HAVE to find out what we are having...I refuse to buy any clothes or accessories until I know...I am such a planner! I am sure that will all fly out the window as soon as the kiddos get here!

Dancinancy: So cool about u/s...we had the same kind of expieriece @ my 12 week appt....we got some great profile shots of both babies..it is so amazing to see their nose and lips, like you were saying...they actually look like babies!! AMAZING how far they have come..and we have gotten to view the progress each step of the way....AMAZING!!!!

Hello everyone! Well, I am excited to say that today is my first day in the 2nd trimester (and you too, Marybeth)! Hmmm...then why am I feeling worse as the days go by? Makes no sense! I think I am just not sleeping well which is a huge part of the problem. I just seem to want to pee all night long! And I am typically one who can hold it for quite a while - not anymore! One other thing I wanted to tell you all about. I woke up last night around 3:30 a.m. with these terrible cramps....it really scared me. They just were not ones I had felt before unless AF was coming. Anyway, it took a while but they finally went away. Well, I had read something a few days ago that helped me not to freak out (MaryBeth - it was from that web site "What To Expect" that you sent me!) so I thought I would share. Anyway, here is what it said:

"For some women, one side effect of all this uterine growth is what amounts to pregnancy growing pains (known in the obstetrical business as "round ligament pain") — felt as achy or sharp pains on one or both sides of the abdomen. Here's why these pains in the abdomen happen: The uterus is supported by thick bands of ligaments that run from the groin up the side of the abdomen (like the lines of that high-cut bikini bottom you've probably had to pack away by now). As your uterus grows, the supporting ligaments stretch and thin out to accommodate the increasing weight. This weight pulls on the ligaments and causes a sharp pain or a dull ache in your lower abdomen. The pain is often more noticeable when you change positions suddenly or get up from sitting or lying down, or when you cough. Kicking up your feet (though not literally) and resting in a comfortable position usually brings relief".

So, there you have it in case any of you experience it! It is kind of scary if you don't know what might be causing it.

Marybeth - how are you doing?? I am excited to know you are starting to make plans for the nursery. :) We are slowly starting that process. We sold the bedroom furniture in that room to a friend this weekend, so it is now EMPTY...which is weird. :? We are definitely planning on finding out what we are having - no doubt about it! I can't wait to know - although I SOOO admire people who can wait! I guess not long after that, I am buying the crib. :) I already have it picked out - it is a sleigh bed crib at Pottery Barn. Now, with that being said, that is probably if it is a girl (which I am kind of hoping for - hence my pink ticker!!!). If it is a boy, then we have another crib that I think might be better for a boy. The colors I like for a girl are pink and chocolate - there are some cute bedding styles in those colors! If it is a boy, I think we will go with blue/green/tan color combo....again, cute bedding in those colors. Yes, I am also a planner. Can't you tell?? The other issue we have to tackle is my 15 year old cat. Yes, my little kitty has decided over the last couple of years that if she needs to go to the bathroom, litter box will do sometimes and sometimes so will the carpet!!! I want to kill her sometimes. The problem is that "her room" as we call it is what will soon be the nursery. So, we get the lovely expense of having to rip out the carpet in a house we just built like 4 years ago and put in wood floors...which I am scared to find out how much that will cost! Uggghhhh

Dancinnancy - Before I forget, I have been chatting some with "itsgottawork" who if you and Marybeth remember was from our original IVF group. Anyway, she is starting another round right now and I am sure she could use all of our support again. :) I just know this is going to work for her this time. I really do. Anyway, I am sure your nuchal scan will come back great. I really wasn't nervous about it which is surprising. We go for the 2nd part at 15 weeks. I also enjoyed the big screen to see the baby - although the tech was so rough with me and the baby!! It made it kind of tough to enjoy.

Seltzer - I am so sorry you are feeling poorly. I guess pregnancy affects everyone so differently. I am surprised how easy it has been for me so far, but geez - I am SOOO tired lately. I just feel like I am always dragging. I am sure it is tougher for you already having a child to care for - much tougher!! I am still gaining weight - WTF?? I am working out 5 days a week but I am now up 7 pounds since the day of the ET (Dec. 1st - I track it all the way back to that date). I think now I just look FAT! My next OB appt is the 7th and I am going to come up with all kinds of "issues" as to why I need an u/s. I am going to be one creative MoFo, let me tell you!!! I am going to have "cramps", "strange pressure down there", "weird tugging sensations"....let's see....what else? I am telling you - I am not leaving that place without an u/s!!! :P :P Oh - and I do need to post some belly pics. I have one so far, but it always takes me forever to post anything like that!

Rebecca - Welcome back!!! I am so glad you had such a great vacation! That is awesome. I bet it was SO relaxing for you and your hubby!! How did your boss take the news of your pregnancy? My boss is really cool and even knew we were going through IVF so he has known since Day 1 that we were pregnant. He & I were pretty good friends from my prior employer before I got hired to work for him, so he has been awesome and so supportive. He even let me out of a couple of business trips while we were going through the process...and how sweet is this? He had his little girls adding me to their prayers at night that we would get pregnant!!! Isn't that so sweet? Oh - and you asked about nails growing quickly - it is my HAIR that is - OMG - like everywhere!!! Yikes!!!

Karen - So, did you spill the beans to the family at the bar-b-que??? We pretty much told all of our friends and family pretty early on and they have been a wonderful support network for us the whole way through. I feel very blessed. We never hid the IVF deal with anyone. I know some people do, but I just didn't care. I am thankful that medical science has gotten so advanced to help couples like us get pregnant, you know? :) I congratulate you on wanting to wait to find out the sex of the baby! I guess me and Marybeth might be the only ones who can't wait!!!

Su - How are you holding up, girl?? It is cool you are starting to look pregnant! I went shopping for maternity clothes and left disappointed and disgusted at my options. I think I am just too picky. I need to get over that quickly or I won't have anything to wear - which would not be pretty right now! When is your next u/s???

Shari - Was it you that asked me about the doppler we rented? Well, long story but come to find out that from weeks 9-12 or so, we were indeed listening to MY HEARTBEAT - not the baby's!!! The u/s tech at my old clinic showed me at our 12 week appt the vessels or whatever that run in that area that will give off my heartbeat and we all got a good laugh out of it. I said, "Screw it - it helped me to keep my sanity and think everything was ok during those few weeks"!!!! Anyway, NOW we found the baby's heartbeat and it is the coolest thing!!! He/she is right above the pubic bone area and finally I have the right heartbeat - it is around 154! Crazy....

Ok, sorry for the long post but wanted to say "hey" to everyone. I am going back to work.. Take care ladies!!!

Hi Everyone,
Tina -I enjoyed your long post. You seem to have such a great upbeat attitude! I also have to get up 3 to 4(or 5 times) a night to pee. I think that is the main reason why I'm tired now. Other than that, I really am feeling better & more energetic here in the 2nd trimester.
The story about the doppler cracked me up. I'm a nurse & I always had problems finding the fetal heart beat with a doppler on patients so I don't want to get one for myself because I would be freaked out on a daily basis if I couldn't find the heart beat.

Seltzer -I've also been having GI problems. A couple of years ago I had my gall bladder removed and started having terrible diarrhea after that. I put myself on a really strict low fat diet for several months and also took 1 Tums a day and a fiber capsule with each meal. That really solved my problems but then with the IVF and now the pregnancy I've had to deal with constipation. Here lately it seems like it's either constipation or diarrhea(sorry if that's TMI). What I'm trying now to is to eat Activia yogurt everyday and see if that helps.

Shari, I hope you are doing well and starting to enjoy the 2nd trimester.
Try8w, you have my sympathy with having to continue to take the shots. How are your hips holding out?
I hope everyone else is doing well -MGB, Dancinancy, I hope I didn't leave someone out.

Telling my boss went really well on Monday AND most of the problems I was having at work were resolved while I was on vacation, so things are much better now.
By the way, count me in on those who will be finding out the sex. There's no way I can wait. I should find out 3/07/08.
Take care,
Rebecca

Hello ladies,
Well, it's been a few days since my last post, but I have read all your posts and so glad to hear that all is well in 'August-Bump' world. Just to give my 2 cents on the pee issue, I get up at least 4 times a night to pee. I still have nausea/rare vomiting, which I am hoping goes away soon. I also find I can sleep a LOT which I am happy about.

Today I had my 15 week ultrasound, which was a biggy, taking measurements of all organs, checking heart chambers and arteries, etc. The doc said that everything looked just fine (TG), and I was glad to see the baby put hands on face, moving legs, etc. It was pretty amazing. I was even MORE glad that everything seems okay thus far! We know what we are having... well, just we know, not telling anyone except my mom. I was thinking it was 'this' and now that feeling is confirmed.
We go for another big u/s at 20 weeks. Can't wait!

Rebecca- welcome back, and so glad you had a great time in Mexico. Glad you are enjoying your 2nd trimester. I hope I can join you in feeling more energetic soon enough.

Tina- Welcome to the 2nd trimester, congrats on achieving this milestone! Sounds like you are having fun planning the nursery, that's great! We'll have to sort of wing it, since we're moving and giving birth probably within days of eachother. Yikes! As far as the doppler goes- glad that your heartbeat put our mind at ease :) Hey, whatever works.

Marybeth- How are you holding up with the twins? I guess you are also getting into the swing of things with your nursery. Good luck!

Feel good ladies!

Congrats Shari on the good news with the u/s and finding out the sex of the baby. It's so wonderful to see the baby during the u/s and it seems like each time gets more special.

Okay, had to change my ticker...it's been way off for a while now.

tina0 - You're so sweet! I love how you check in on all of us! I have a dear friend who is going through fertility testing & I told her that she just had to check out this site's message boards. Seriously, I don't think I would have made it through all of this without you girls! And I just love checking in & hearing about everyone's progress, it really is comforting.

I have been feeling some cramping, nothing like you described Tina, just dull aches every once in a while. I read that same thing on the 'what to expect' site. It makes a ton of sense, lots of shifting going on inside us these days.

I had a funny thing happen at the Dr's office today. A student nurse went to get my weight...on one of those old school - never wrong scales... and the scale read 135. I think I turned ghostly white in the face, the poor girl asked me over and over "are you okay miss?" And I could barely get the words out, but I finally said "that isn't possible, I can't weigh 135...already! I was just here TWO weeks ago and I weighed just under 125! There is no way I gained 10 pounds in TWO freakin' weeks!!" And sure enough, she had me step off the scale, and step back on, and low and behold, I weighed 125 on the dot! I asked her to measure me again, just to make sure & 125 was it! I don't know what happened with the first one...I watched her do it, and she kept sliding that top weight over farther and farther...I know I'll get to 135 soon enough...but not in that short of a time period! It was pretty comical though.

I am a planner too, as soon as I can find out the sex of the baby I will! Then it's decorating time! I love Matisse paintings, and I think I'll work off some colors in couple of my favorite prints. As far as furniture goes, either way boy or girl, I think I'll go with mahogany stains. We have a twin trundle bed with mahogany stain that will stay in that room. Ohhhh, it's going to be so much fun planning out that room! Although, I've had the layout in my head for well over a year now!

Much love to my ladies!

Hey all,
Spoke too soon regarding sleep... last night I could barely sleep, between insomnia, peeing, and a cold that seems to be brewing. Oh, well, good thing I have off tomorrow to catch up.

Rebecca- Thanks! Yes, each u/s gets better and better watching the progress of the little tyke. It's amazing seeing all the anatomical structures, down to the tiny little finger bones. Also, we heard the heartbeat for the first time. :)

Dancinnancy- Yes I wholeheartedly agree regarding this message board. I really got so much support from all the wonderful ladies on here, from when I was feeling down during the 2ww, up until today. It was definitely good advice for your friend to check it out. I wish her much luck! BTW, I also feel little pulls and tugs down below every once in a while. They are usually more localized than regular 'cramps'. I always imagine it's the little one pushing its foot down on a nerve. The expanding uterus also definitely plays a role in these sensations, I am sure. Joys of motherhood :) .

Be well all, and have a great day.

TinaO: It is soooo wonderful to finally make it into the 2nd tri-mester...I feel we have already overcome a huge hurtle!! I too have been expieriencing some pregnancy growing pains....I mainly feel them in the evenings and just make myself sit down. Thanks for the info from the what to expect website. I enjoy popping over there every once in a while. To see what the babies look like etc....

Shari: I can't believe you were able to find out the sex so soon! ( I think you are one week ahead of me) how excited are you!! I can't wait to find out!! Can't wait can't wait can't wait!!! I am sorry you are coming down with a cold....If you remember, I had one last week. I was pretty surprised how quickly it went away (about 4 days). I stayed in bed with the humidifier a lot and drank about 4 cartons of OJ.....Get lots of rest! Hope you are feeling better soon!

We (me and the twins) are doing great! I am begining to feel like my self again. I can feel my energy coming back and my appetite!!! I guess that is why they call this "golden period" I am going to enjoy every second of it!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi Tina:

Thought I'd pop in since I'm slowly approaching my week 15. No doctor's appointment today. So I'm having to deal with u/s withdrawal. Not too worry. I have an appointment scheduled for 2/29.

As for my BBQ, we had so much fun! My DH and I enjoyed having the family over. No one wanted to go home especially my two nieces. I haven't been in the mood for company ever since I got my BFN after the initial ET. I was so very bummed and depressed. And yes, my DH and I said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I hid all evidence related to treatment and doctor's appointments.

Maybe we're being all too very cautious. I'm just scared out of my mind! It's really difficult for me to even fathom that I have a human being growing (bigger each week) inside of me. It all seems of a dream ...

I've had patients at the dental clinic that went through MC's at different stages. They all are close to my age so I'm just thinking happy thoughts and staying away from the normal family turmoil stresses.

... and for the rest of you "bump buddies":
I hope that everything is going well for you.

It's been quite hilarious at work. I've been feeling like "stretches" in the abdominal area. Not cramping associated with monthly periods but like something is in there stretching its legs, as an example. When I grab at my tummy, my co-workers ask if I'm okay. I just tell them, "I think I have gas." They take a step or two away from me.

My DH and I hope to spring the news to the family on Easter Sunday. By then I'll be @ week 19 and hopefully still not showing yet. (I haven't gained any weight yet nor do my clothes feel any snugger.)

Hi! I just wanted to pop in and tell you all to look at www.babysdream.com! It is a really cool web site that lets you enter the dimensions of the room you want to use as the nursery and lay out the furniture where and how you want it. Very cool! It is a nusery virtual planner tool. Let me know what you think!

Glad everyone is doing well! Besides not sleeping well, I am doing great!

Talk with you all later!

Hello Ladies,
Okay, once again I am a bit worried about something. It's regarding the 'pee' topic. Lately, besides having to go a LOT, I feel like I have to bear down to 'eliminate' while peeing and it's even starting to burn a bit (sorry for TMI). Feels like a UTI. Anyone else experience this? Is this normal during pregnancy? Any advice/info would be appreciated. Thanks!

MBG- Yes, we are quite excited to know the sex of our little one. If for nothing else, we don't need to call the baby 'it' or 'he/she' anymore :) . Over here, they do an extensive u/s at 15 weeks and 20 weeks, and I think the earliest you can determine sex is 14 weeks. You must be doubly curious! Glad you are getting back your energy. Mine is slowly returning, though I must say I am still quite nauseous at times. I guess each pregnancy is different.

Well, be well ladies.

Hello Ladies,

Just to update... I went for a urinalysis this morning and I already have an antibiotic prescription from the doc if it turns out to be a UTI, so I'm on it. I was concerned about the baby, but he said it can't be harmed (PG). I read that they're pretty common in pregnancy, and I do have a history of UTIs, so stands to reason. Hope you are all well today. Later!
