Hello guys,
I'll first read through your posts and reply and then I'll tell you why I've been MIA since Wednesday afternoon.
Kathleen: thank you sweetie for the kind words! After all, I had totally miscalculated the betas, LOL! 10 000 was exactly what it should have been, not four times what we expected! Instead of calculating an exponential increase, I just multiplied by four. Stupid!
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE TWINS!!!!!

I'm so happy for you sweetie, you must be over the moon! I guess it was too soon to see a heartbeat? Don't fret about it; it took them time to find a heartbeat in my case too, and I was lucky that they found it before my 6 weeks milestone.
mzpotter: Thanks for your kind words my darling. I'm so sorry that you've got bad morning sickness!!! Go on Google and try "preggie pops". I've been told that they can do miracles.
Joanie: your sweetness and altruism is truly inspirational, thank you so much for what you said!

I totally agree with you: things do happen for a reason. We might have different opinions on how this "reason thing" works, though, but the basic principle stays the same. That knowledge is what helped me come at peace with what that resident did to me in 2003 (medical mishap, huge infection, lost both my tubes). Other than that, how are you doing sweetie?
Emma my dear, you're not morbid or negative, you're down to earth and honest! Hey, we all have our personalities! And personally, I often see myself in your reactions or thoughts. I, too, am allergic to people who just say "oh, everything will just be all right". Sure, it's good to hear, but when these people don't consider the hard facts and give you encouragements that are just too optimistic... it irritates me more than it helps me feel better. Hope I'm making sense here.
LOL about the church-run at 39 weeks!

I am delighted to hear that your cramping has subsided. As for the scare, my, you know I understand you 100%. I, too, went through bathroom trips when looking at my underware was a debate... Have you considered that, given that you had your pregnancies so close to each other, your hormones might have sent you the wrong signals? And that, maaaaaybe, the way you originally calculated your milestones does not quite stick to the events? Just saying... Late implanters do happen, my sweet, even with IVF. As long as they are developping, it's what's the most important, no? I find it awful that your next u/s is so far away... but thanks to the passing time, now I bet your colleagues can give you more reliable ultrasounds now that things are easier to see? Either way my dear, my thoughts are with you. We cannot control the events, and nature has a way of having things happen the way they should. If your baby is heading towards a miscarriage during the first trimester, like my doctors told me, there is very little you can do to prevent it, AND it also means that it's better to happen that way because the embryo is just not okay. Again, hope I'm making sense... but that being said, I'm sure that everything will be just fine! (;)) I smiled so much when I read about your ultrasound!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! A strong little heartbeat! Isn't that the MOST AMAZING THING TO SEE? Oh, please my dear, keep that wonderful image in mind whenever you doubt! It's the one reliable data you can count on! Keep us posted my dear... and rejoice at your tiredness!
kerpupples I'm sorry that your ultrasound gave you such a scare... oh my... I'm so sorry to read that.

I'm glad that your doctors are investigating and I hope your baby is just a late implanter. Hang in there my dear, and keep us posted. You're in my thoughts *HUGS*
doodah66 welcome! So nice of you to join us!

Thanks for sharing your story with us, and please, pleeeease don't refrain from posting just because stuff happens to me!

Hey, we'll all have adventures to post about, we're pregnant!

I am truly touched by what you wrote and I thank you for your wonderful prayers. They worked!
pincushion: I hear you sister, I too feel like cr@p at times!

It will all be better soon! For now, please do remember your extended princess status!!!!
Lola, you made me laugh with your knicker checking a-girl's-gotta-work!!! Hunny, I really hope that your u/s will give you all the good news.. and then you can tease us with the fact that you're lucky enough not to have too much symptoms!
Welcome
kmpfoley! I'm glad that you decided to join the forum!

As long as your numbers are roughly doubling every two days, things are going by the book. A little more or a little less is not dramatic. Like in all its early life outside of you, your baby is going to have growth rushes (ewwwwww don't know the exact translation for that!!!!), so it's expected that your numbers will increase more rapidly. It might also suggest that you're expecting twins, but the only truly reliable data you can count on is the presence of a yolk sac and heartbeat at the ultrasound after 6 weeks. Before that, it's aaaaall speculation. Even if your beta drops, don't be alarmed.
A gynecologist told me that betas can sometimes drop by as much as 10% and it's still not the end of the world. If, during the next few days, it keeps increasing, everything is okay. I'm a living example (see post below!).
Okay, time to post about the latest news...
Hugs to all!!! SO GOOD to be back!
