Tammy- are you doing the blood test in conjunction with the Nuchal? DH had to poke my fingers to get the 5 drops of blood and then we need to send it to a lab in NY, but I think that we will have our odds given to us at the appt. I feel like I am in another 2WW!!!!

Hola ladies. I am counting down the days till our spring break! No work for a week!! Woohoo! But the headache is still here! My mom (a nurse) thinks they are tension headaches because of where they are and not allergies. So tylenol is not working so I usually just lie down for a bit after work and before class. I think I am stressed about work and class at the same time.

You ladies sound good though! I hope "Runt" makes it through! I will be thinking of him/her!! I decided not to work this summer which just sounds wonderful at the moment. I am ready to just up and walk out because I am tired all the time and the kids just annoy the heck out of me! Also, my face has gotten so fat! And my thighs! I dont know where the weight is coming from because I am not eating more than I did before pregnancy. Oh well. I can not wait till the 27 for the us!!!

Wish - can you work out a bit for me? ;) wow you have a ton of will power! I am impressed!

Tammy- I thought the triple panel or some AFP test was done at 15 weeks, but I am 10 weeks now and UCSF sent me a collction paper in the mail, it said AFP test, I had to prick my fingers and put 5 drops of blood then mail it to NY. They said that if I did that right away I could have full odds on 3/31, since yours is after mine, you should have time to do it too. I know that in the 19th week you can also have a quad test and level 2 ultrasound also. below is a good website on tests:
http://www.marchofdimes.com/professiona ... 2_1166.asp
the chances of a m/c are too high with CVS testing but at UCSF they have a 1 in 350 rate for amnio, I would still like to avoid it. Here is a good site on understanddng your NT results

Hi Girls,

I am back from Big Sur - one of my favorite parks - and I DID actually beat my DH once at Scrabble!

weezie - I was sorry to read about your husband being such an a**! I hope he comes to his senses sometime soon. At least you are somewhere you feel comfortable for a while. Let us know how you are doing.

rio and Tammy - We went to a genetic screening class last night and we, also, are doing the nuchal test + blood work. I see my ob for my first appt. tomorrow and hope I can get that scheduled soon. I need to do it before April 8th. I am hoping that I will be able to avoid an amnio.

Sassy - How you doing? I am praying for Runt!!!

Today I get to stop all medications!!! I am excited to be off the medication schedule, but am a little afraid to stop the progesterone. I am officially 11 weeks, but thought most of you were staying on the meds until week 12-14. Kelly, you did a donor cycle, right? Are you still on meds?

I am still dealing with m/s but not everyday. It still comes and goes and I can't figure it out. My belly is also huge at the end of the day. I doubt it is a baby bulge though because I have been eating like a pig! I just can't seem to stop. I am afraid to get on the scale. I think I have gained about 5 pounds but haven't weighed myself in a week. I really didn't want to gain weight in the first trimester......

I have my first prenatal appt. with my regular Ob tomorrow morning. She knows everything I have been through so she will be excited for us. I hope I have an u/s. It's been two weeks and I still get nervous about it all.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Geckogirl - I am so envious about your trip to Big Sur - I've been there once and absolutely loved it!!! I did do a donor egg cycle and was told that I had to stay on my meds until week 12. But i wouldn't worry about it. At my first beta (when they also checked progesterone) my level for prog was over 100 - they were looking to see that it was over 20. So, I figure that I could probably go off them now but given that I have them I figured that I might as well continue for another 2 weeks. But I sure can't wait until I am done with them!!!

I feel so behind with the testing, etc. I still have 2 weeks to go until my first OB appointment so at this stage I know nothing about the testing that they are going to suggest.

Had another head splitting headache last night. Really weird. They usually happen around bedtime or in the middle of the night and they are brutal. This morning I can still feel a slight headache but nothing like last night.

Sassy - I am rooting for Runt!!! Hope he/she pulls through. I guess it is just a waiting game. A women on another thread had triplets with one of them much smaller and slower - the RE said that it likely wouldn't make it but here she is at week 14 and the little one caught up so triplets it is for her.

I am going to the gym tonight for the first time - going to do some walking on the treadmill and maybe some very light arm weights. I am feeling very sluggish so I am looking forward to the exercise. It is also the only place that I weigh myself (we don't have a scale at home) so I will see how much weight I have gained so far. Wish me luck!!!

Have a great day!!!

Hey girls,
Glad to see everyone is doing great.

Kel: Good for you working out! I just want to sleep all day! I have been thinking about starting yoga. But that is as far as I can get - thinking about it!

Gecko: So glad you and dh had some time away! I wish dh and I could get away a bit - but we have so many projects ont he weekends we need to finish! Maybe a bit closer to the summer. And congrats on stopping the meds!! I was told 10 weeks- which will be here soon.

Rio: Wow all those tests are confusing. I have decided to not do any. I will just see what I see when I see it.

wishuluck: you too going over to the other side and working out?? :)

Suga: Sorry you are having the headaches - teaching is draining!

Loopie: can you swithc to the supp? Thankfully my PIO shots are coming along fine - I am surprised I have had no bruising or welts (brag brag). Enjoy your time off.

Jomae: Are your moods getting any better? Maybe it is not you - maybe it is them that has a problem ? :)

Tammy: I cant believe you are taking breastfeeding classes already - I bet ot makes it feel alot more real huh? Leave some merchandise at the store for all of us!

Sassy: How are you feeling? Are the symptoms like normal x 5?? Is your family supportive? Wow talk about an instant family! How are you doing emotionally?

Weezie: please update us on how you and dh are doing. I am a little worried since we havenmt heard from you since the fight.

My next u/s is on Monday - Wondering if they will find the twin then?? Then I can call my obgyn and make an appt. I am eating fine trying to eat healthy. It is 11am and I am still in bed - man I love to sleep these days!!

Take care all you mommas!! ANyone still not told family aboutpg? We still havent told anyone - and I am so tired of not telling ugh!

Gecko - are you doing the Nuchal with UCSF? They come down here once a week and that's who we are doing it with. I am very comfortable since they were one of the first to do Nuchal and if an amnio is needed (which I want to avoid!), their odds are better than the average, instead of 1:200 it is 1:350. Let us know how your OB goes. I stopped my meds at 10 weeks so don't worry about it:) My OB said that at 10 weeks the placenta takes over. Glad you had fun in Big Sur!
Kelly - you are so brave - going to the gym and weighing yourself! I haven't done either! I am still so tired. Sorry for your headaches
Mia - if I remember correctly you are 28, right? I know they are recomending testing for women any age these days but your chances should naturally be very low of something going wrong. :) You are so cute looking for the twin! I wanted twins also, watch it, next IVF cycle when I want one I will get more! ;) Murphy's law! How is the nursery coming? I feel like sleeping all the time too, unfortunately this stupid work thing gets in the way. We are waiting for after my Nuchal 3/31 to tell everyone. Close family and friends already know.
Weezie How are you? You and DH made up? Hope all is well...

I am having a tough couple of days, my asthma is acting up and I feel really tired and worn out. Looking forward to my weekend alone with DH and my birthday coming up next week! :D

Tammy: Wow. The RLS sounds horrible. I have a mild case sometimes... I have for years, but nothing like you are describing now. Is that something that developed since your pregnancy?

Jomae: Ever since I read about you having a thing for apples and cheese I have been craving them... EVERYDAY!

Loopie: How did the OB appt go? Huh, huh? I'm sure hoping they let you stop the PIO...

Rio: Oh wow. I am way behind. I hadn't even thought of the upcoming screenings (of course I am a few weeks behind you...). I also have asthma and I'm sorry to hear yours isn't doing well. Get lots of rest!

Suga: What class/es are you taking? You must be exhausted.

Gecko: Ooooo, Big Sur! I hope you had good weather. I have only driven through but it was beautiful.

Kelly: How was the gym? I am tres jealous. Prior to this cycle I was a gym rat, working with a personal trainer and all. But now with multiple buns in the oven I figure I had better remain on my ample butt except for some walks. Pump a little iron for me, please

Our news is quickly moving through the grapevine. My MIL, and both SILs I swear have been stopping strangers on the street to tell them  . My mom couldn't even keep it a secret and sent out a mass email yesterday to friends and family . It is way to early for such things, but it is out of our hands at this point. Oh well. We had to tell both sides due to weddings and a big international trip we were to take with family members at the beginning of July (we were supposed to buy the plane tickets last week). My brother is getting married in June. I told the bride not to fit me for a bridesmaid's dress unless they are tents  .

The nausea isn't severe. I don't vomit every day, but I sure will be glad when the whole m/s thing is over. The biggest problem I seem to be having is getting enough liquids in me. The little buggers just seem to be sucking it up! I feel constantly dehydrated!

Sassy - what are you taking for your asthma? I take pulmicort 2x a day and provair as rescue. THis are just has so much pollen that my alergies trigger my asthma. I used to get it once a year and now it has been chronic since last year  I hope yours is under control. :) How old are you? Are you planning on doing testing? I am still amazed that you are having 5 babies! WOW :D Any plans for the nursery yet? I can't wait to hear from your OB! Hope you feel better from the m/s.

Rio: A few years ago I started on Singulair in addition to Pulmicort, Clarinex, Intal (which I use only during times I am working out), and proventil as rescue. Singulair really helped both my allergies and asthma. As a result, my asthma is well-controlled, and I almost never need my rescue inhaler. My asthma specialist told me that although there aren't any controlled studies in pregnant women (Singulair is Category B), it is less risky to take Singulair than have uncontrolled asthma in pregnancy. He said 1/3 of asthmatics get worse and 1/3 get better during pregnancy. Here's hoping we both fit into the "better" category!

I am 36yo, so I'm sure I will have the nuchal and blood work. Not sure if I would do an amnio even if recommended (since I wouldn't terminate, not sure I would take the risk). I imagine the perinatologist will have all sorts of plans for me when I see him next week...

hi all!

yes-mia, I think my twin baby is hiding behind the other one, too!

sassy - i can only imagine how excited your family must be- i know i couldn't keep that one in!!! ( i'm even telling folks about you and the 5 !!)

so things went well today, got to chat with my new doc, and it seems all docs will be on board, they're pretty relaxed and minimally invasive. I was rather upset and very nervous at first- the whole, what to ask thing ( my best buddy made a checklist list for me) and we will do the did a full on annual exam, then checked the bean on the US- perfectly average!!!! nice
only bad news, I have to keep doing the PIOs and crinone suppositories until 12 weeks, and then just crinone until 13 weeks ny Nuchal is 7 April

the Barnum and Bailey Circus is in town, and about a block from my OBs, they had the elephants eating at the big market in town- so great to see pachyderms amidst big buildings! what a bonus a peanut and an elephant in the same day!

Loopie - congrats on your bean!!! So you have a sneaky twin in there too heh ?
Sassy I admit I told people about you too  ! The whole world knows  since chronic asthma is new to me, I unfortunately haven't found the perfect med cocktail yet. I agree with you that the most important thing is that you breathe! I have fatigue and chest tightness right now and I am considering calling my Doc and asking for more meds  I was hoping my asthma was going to be the 1/3 better! I am 36 also (37 next week) and I want to do the diagnosis tests but not amnio if I can help it. I have no idea how they can do the NT on a full bladder and on 5 babies! That's a full house! :D Can't wait for your next u/s!
