Hi Ladies,

Sorry been MIA - BUT SO HAS EVERYONE ELSE - Where the hell is everyone

Anyway - will do personels later, just have a question to ask!

I have been to get my drugs right, and have found out that im D/Reggin for 38 days! When i asked why so long (as last time it was just 21 days) they told me that as my schedule is worked out in advance (obvisouly) that the only time to fit me in for EC was 14th May - so i have to D/R for this long!

Im not happy about this (as u can imagine) im dreading the side effects, and normal cycles are bad enough at 21 days - but im doing an extra 17 days - im gonna be hell to live with! Im bad enuff now lol!

What do u ladies think??????

Here is my schedule:

24th March - Start D/Regging (by injection)
30th April - Start Puregon (with pen)
6th May - First scan
12th May - 2nd scan
14th may - EC
16th May - ET
29th May - Pg Test

It seems agessssssssss away ....

Oh and its DH's 40th birthday on 31st May!!

Oh hell - im not looking fwd to D/R for this long .....

What u think ladies???

Becks - WHOA! That is a long time to down reg! I am just amazed - I think we just do things very differently on this side of the pond.

I can't imagine how they can give you a definite date for EC/ER this early in advance!! My TENTATIVE date was 4 days earlier than the date we actually did it. They do a lot more scans & BW and make more adjustments along the way over here, it seems. My RE said that too, she said it's because each person is so different and even each cycle is so different, that's why they do so much monitoring - to make adjustments - and nothing is set in stone date-wise - until the last minute.

I feel for you - it just seems like if that's when they have it scheduled, why not wait until later to start your down-regging??? makes more sense to me, but whatdo I know???Image

Hi Hope

I think its cos i have to start D/R on day 21 of my cycle - if we wait untill my nxt AF, it wud push it into May again before i can start - so its easier for them just to down reg me for longer ... im really not looking fwd to it, as i inject to D/R anyhow (thats 38 injections) before i even start injecting with the pen, and on top of the pen i still have to inject the D/R superfact

So ive got 38 injections for 38 days - then 2 injections (one for each thigh) for 12 days!

They giv us the times and dates of EC here subject to change - but thats what i have to go by. Maybe if i dont respond too well, they may give me more eggie food for a day or 2 more, pushing EC a day or two later - but IF all goes to plan - it will happen on the dates they have given me!

Oh the joys of IV bloody F eh???

How u doing anyway hun??

Well no new news for me here. I am doing online training to teach online, should start teaching in a month or so. DH is talking about trying to sell the house so I need to start cleaning and throwing away crap :( Selling the house will make the transition easier between his job and going into business. But it just seems like a lot of work for me right now!
Hey girl!

Is it EVER going slow!!! I guess it does, tho, when your clinic makes you wait 18 days instead of 14!!! And then my 18th day has to fall on Sunday, making it 19!! Think I'll wait that long?? Uh... ???

Sounds like you've got a lot of things going down little girl! Trying to get a lot done whilst pg! How's the housing market down there? We wouldn't sell now unless we HAD to... it's terrible here. But then, it was WAY over-priced here to begin with. So how you hanging with all the extra duties?? And feeling icki-ness??

38 days is a LONG time, Becks - I guess I shouldn't be complainin' aobut my 19 day wait - might as well call it a 3ww!! By the time I finally get my 1st beta, I'll already be almost 5 weeks pregnant!!! Image

Well, I guess in both our situations, it's just good to have something to wait for! Sorry you have to d/r for so long, tho, really - I'm sure it will wear on you. Those meds do take their toll!! You're gonna be having crazy psychedelic dreams about syringes tracking you down in your sleep! :( Image

Makes you wonder, they still don't really know what kind of effect all these shots have on women, do they?? Kind of scary, I think - but then, what's the alternative??!! We gotta do what we gotta do.

As for me, I'm doing good! Actually far more positive than I ever imagined I'd be after the M/S - I kind of figured that I would be a little gun-shy, scared of my shadow. While I still have moments of that, it doesn't seem to have taken me over. Which I'm grateful for.

I went to the acupuncturist today for the last time. He told me that according to my pulse, if I'm pregnant, that it is probably a girl. Image But, it is still early. He did say that I was having a boy the last time (way before the beta) and who knows if he was right, but he was right that i was pg! He also said he checked his wife as soon as she found out she was pg both times and both times he was right on the sex of the baby. FREAKY!!
So - a little experiment for our PG girls (esp those who know what they're having!!) Check your pulse on both right and left wrists and tell us which one is faster... I'll post the "answers" soon.

Hi becks i haven't been on for a long time but i know that you are at the royal i have had 4 cycles at the royal and i always found that you fitted into there schedule and not yours but i wouldn't worry and dont worry about the dr drugs as they used to give you synarel but they changed it last year i cant remember what the new drug was called as i only had it for the last cycle and didn't really get any side effects with it not like the other one that made me feel awful. what consultant are you under there and good luck to you i will keep everything crossed for a BFP

Hope: my right is faster than left - am I having a girl??? That is so weird I need to ask my RE what he thinks of that "test"!!!

Becks: Well I hope no one is offended but um I complain about a sneeze, I am so seldomly sick that when I am I am a big baby about it!! That is a lot of shots!! I was blessed with a new clinic that didnt have a busy schedule yet - they relaly worked around my schedule and I could go in when it was convenient for me - I'd be pissed if I had to pay extra money for drugs so that I got in at a convenient time for them!! Poor Becks!!

Peqe: If your pulse is the same it means you are having a turtle baby, right Hope?? :) Stop whining about being tired :) YOu have 2 weeks off soon!!!

Ugh went to try and buy clothes today - but no luck, I just hate the styles in our stores - nothing looks right to me! boo-hoo! Maybe I should go on a shopping spree in Europe?? :) Ill talk to dh about it (ha!)...

Did I mention I hired a cleaning lady (3 of them) to clean my house. It looks alright - but I guess I was expecting something more! But I am just glad to not have to clean the toilets and vacuum!

Ok off to get myself pretty for dh!

Stephjim, thats a great fertility report. Sounds like you are on your way to a BFP!!!! :D Hope ET goes well tomorrow. The embies will be happier spending Easter with Mom and Dad rather than in a lonely lab.

Hope - you taking it easy? Good sign about your accupuncturist feeling that you are pg. If he's been right before, then he's right this time!

Mia - good on you for getting the cleaners!!! Ya, I agree - a trip to London for maternity clothes is just what you need. Why would your DH have a problem with that? :?

Steph - We missed you. Not long before your vacation starts though. Did you have your ice cream?

Miracle - Where are you hun?

Hello everyone else!!!!!

Becky,

38 days of downreg is ok to do. Usually downreg injections don't have much side effects. Its the stimming thats got the side effects. Yeah, long down reg means a delay in your tmt, and I agree that can be daunting and probably frustrating. But at least you are on your way.

My RE explained that downreg is a way of letting them control our cycle rather than nature. Because the NHS have limited funding for infertility tmt, they try to schedule EC for the same day every month/ week (varies from area to area). So they usually work backwards after scheduling a group of women on the same day. So while you have to downreg for 38 days, it is possible that some women in your cycle will have a few more/ less days than you. Once you have been downregulated, stimming starts 12-14 days before EC date.

For the gals across the pond, this is normal practise on the NHS - when the govt pays for the tmt. They have limited budgets for infertility as its not high priority. Which is why a lot of people get started in March as thats when the PCTs want to use up any extra cash they have before year end for non-urgent procedures. Becky, don't get me wrong, I'm not endorsing the practise, just trying to explain it in my own dumb way! We personally got so fed up of the way the system works that we have gone the private route - still no idea when my turn will come up!

Sorry if I've been rambling on without making sense.

Ang :)
