Thanks Sameera,

Yeah, she thinks I'm nuts too. And I'm the one that gives her the shots. Once they told me it was like holding a dart I was all over it!

I'm trying to get my mind around how fast this happens once you begin taking the meds. I was also wondering what some of you guys (girls) think are the biggest hurdles in this process? Harvesting the eggs, growing the follicles, fertilization, implantation?

Also, It seems like this is such a roll of the dice, and at such a high price tag I wonder how many people can justify laying out for it. I'm also wondering if the #'s that we received in terms of success rates are accurate. She's 31 and healthy, and I think they said she has like a 60% shot. We have two cycles paid for by insurance so we'll see what happens.

Thanks again for saying hi.

Happy Wednesday yall!
I had my us/bw today and got my stimming protocol to start saturday: 2 vials of bravelle and 1 vial menopur once a day and scale back the lupron to 5 units. I had to do 2 shots now, but oh well they aren't that bad. I do this until the next us/bw on 4/15.

Dri-Jim- welcome to the board! It is amazing how fast things go once you start meds. kudos for being so supportive! Where are yall at in the cycle...when is ER?

Sameera- I guess you don't have to do PIO, will you be using suppository? My RE only uses the PIO, so yeah, if I get a BFP its 10 more weeks of shots! Best wishes for a good ER!

SDtrying- are you excited you have your schedule?!

Rose- Sorry to hear about your BFN...hopefully your frosties will stick! that is awesome you have so many for FET! I have heard some ladies it takes them up to 6 weeks for AF to come after IVF....don't stress thought cause it will come later! Stay positive!

amber- how did your us/bw go? I started AF last night, and I was worried they would be grossed out to do the sono, but they were like we expected you to start anyway. what meds are you stimming with?

dodo- Congrats on the fert report! That is great!

jesjes- good thing they identified the problem and you have a solution. Now you just need to get your BFP again!

courtney- when is your next baseline? how high was your fsh? are you going to have to use donor eggs?I have a friend who is only 29 and her fsh is so high her RE told her there is no chance of her getting her own eggs and she will have to use donor. She has an identical twin sister who is going to be her donor, but she isn't ready for IVF yet.

DrJen- How are you? Doing ok with the lupron? When do you start stimming?

God Bless you all!

Welcome to the board Dri-Jim (Jim)! The biggest hurdle of IVF is...there is always a hurdle!! Once you get past one stage there is always something on the horizon to stress and worry about it. But, as you said, once you get started it moves very quickly.

I agree it is a high price for a roll of the dice, and it does feel like you are playing a game of probabilities sometimes!! On the bright side, at least you have two cycles paid for...you are very fortunate to live in a progressive state. Unfortunately, I dont think the South will ever have such coverage.

Couples with male factor IF do seem to have a higher success rate, nothing scientific, just my observation on this board. Especially since the introduction of ISCI into IVF. 60% is very good, so be optimistic. Our chances are only 35%, so I would take 60% in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Courtney,

I guess I see what you mean about the hurdles that keep coming up.

I don't know if I have the right perspective or not, but when my wife asks me if I think this will work, I tell her that while I hope so and that science can do many, many things, it's really up to God if we receive a baby, and when. Only He can give the miracle of life. In my opinion, of course.

Michelle-

I haven't found the abbreviations section yet. What is ER?

Basically, she has begun her injections and they will be harvesting the eggs next week if all goes well. Thanks for asking.

Dri-Jim - so cool you are on the board! I have been reading the April/May thread since I thought I'd start IVF #2 in April but it's looking more like May but a few abbreviations that will quickly help you out...

DH - dear husband
RE - reproductive endocronologist
E/R - egg retrieval
E/T - egg transfer
2ww - two week wait - ughh...after egg transfer
AF - aunt flo - or "period"
TTC - trying to conceive

As for the biggest hurdle it depends on each person's diagnosis - for some getting follicles is huge, for others it's fertilization, and on and on! It really is a "gamble" and I do think if you keep praying and playing we will succeed! Good luck!

Hi Irish-

Thanks for the help. But.....

DH - dear husband (aren't we all husbands dear? A bit redundant!)

And where's DW? Or is that too much to ask? :)

Oh, the 2ww. What is that all about? I thought you'd know quicker than that if you're preggo or not.

Now I don't want you girls ganging up on me so don't take me too seriously, okay?

Jim - I hate to tell you but for many the 2 ww is the hardest part...and most clinics vary when they'll do your blood test but it typically is not before 12 days after transfer - some do 14 - mine does 18!!!! The process you feel like you at least are doing something/have some control - the 2 ww is just that...waiting...waiting - waiting...

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well.

Doddo - great news on the ER and fert report!

Sameera - best of luck with ER!

Courtney - so good to see you again! Here's hoping we both get at least as far as ET this time!

Jim - Welcome - nice to see a DH here! As far as all husbands being dear, I have to say it depends on the day!!!

IrishHope - nice to hear from you again too! Most of my stuff will be in may too if you choose to join this thread.

As for me, nothing new. Got my meds yesterday - and all I needed were some of the antibiotics - I had everything else, including needles and syringes, left from my previous cycles, so that was good.

Also, I just have to ask - does anyone else believe there is no justice in the world when a transgendered person can get pregnant and we can't?! Seriously, things are not fair sometimes! Not that he/she doesn't deserve a baby too, but clearly he has done a lot to his body with hormones and can still get pregnant - we have not altered our bodies and can't!
