Thanks for the well wishes ladies. Rio - I'll say a prayer for you that the b/w goes well. As for me, we decided to see my regular OB today to get some questions answered. Unfortunately he didn't give us much reassurance, basically saying we can't stop whatever is happening so we just have to wait and see. He wants to see me again on May 12 for an u/s and he has put me on bedrest until then (eeks...3 weeks of bedrest). In the meantime, we will get to have at least one more u/s with RE this week and all we can do is pray these little ones are still strong and healthy when we see them. It's a horrible feeling having no control and of course not knowing if the babies are still ok is freaking me out. It just never seems to end...

Sorry for being all about me right now...I'm just having a tough time with this. And thanks for listening.

Corny - I hope all goes well for you. It must be a good sign that they were doing so well when you last saw them.

Rio - Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure your baby is fine but I really hope for good results for you so that you have that peace of mind.

Jomae - I've been thinking about names but haven't come up w/any so far. DH doesn't want to discuss it until we know the sex. He just keeps making joking suggestions like Gertrude and Felix. We need a name that sounds good in German as well as English b/c German is DH's native language.

Is anyone else experiencing pregnancy insomnia? This has been going on for me for at least a month. I fall asleep fine but wake up in the wee hours and can't fall back to sleep. Today I've been awake since 4:45am.

Mellie- I am so glad you mentioned the insomnia!! I am a walking zombie and haven't had a good night's sleep in about a month. I am going to ask my doctor about it to see if there is something approved that I can take. It is really frustrating and makes it really hard to work all day when I am sooooo tired all the time.

Jomae - Lucky you getting money for your baby! We don't have anything like that in the US. Would be nice though....

cornybaby - I am praying for you. I had some bleeding right at the end of the first trimester and the doctors told me the same thing. I took it easy for a while and the bleeding didn't last long (only a few hours) and hasn't happened again. It really is scary though. Just take it easy and have faith in your little fighters.

riogirl- Good luck on your bloodwork this week. I am doing the same test next week and am a little nervous. But I guess what will be, will be. I am sure all our babies are just fine. Keep us posted. I have to wait until May 12th for my next u/s and am hoping we find out the sex. How exciting! You think yours is a boy, right? My DH also thinks we are having a boy. It will be interesting to see if the hunches are correct.

Katie - I haven't started pricing any baby stuff yet, but I am prepared for sticker shock. We are repainting in June and after that we will start shopping for furniture etc... I can't wait. That is the fun part!

I have been doing pretty well. Other than being utterly exhausted from not getting enough sleep at night, that is. I did notice that this week I am getting more pulling, stretchy pains and my belly is really starting to show. I guess this is what it will be like from here on in. It makes me feel good to know that something is still going on in there.

I got on the scale today too. What a mistake! I had gone out to diner for the last three nights and didn't eat really healthy and the scale showed it! I am hoping that a lot of it is water weight from too much salt. I see my ob next Monday and am hoping my weight levels out. As of today I have gained 12 pounds already - 3 in this last weekend! Yikes!

Take care everyone!

Heck no I sleep pretty well. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep but other then that I normally stay asleep. We have had a girl name picked but I think we are having a boy. Boy names are MUCH harder for us. We want to keep my DH's name in the family but we want it in the middle name vs first name. Plus we are throwing out all Jr. Sr stuff b/c DH first name is not so nice. So who knows. I think we quit talking about it until we know forsure b/c its sorta stressful. Girl names are a lot easier.

Ok ladies I hope all is well and Corney Im glad you went to your reg OB for second opinion so to speak.

Rio---G/L tomorrow and let us know.

Thank you for the good luck wishes for BW tomorrow - I really need some peace of mind, these tests just seem so flaky in both false positives and false negatives that it is scary!
Image

Katie - Agree that gir's names are easier! We want to find out the sex and then nail down the names, so fr we don't have much!
Gecko Sorry you got the insomnia :( that has to be tough on top of being tired from the pregnancy! We think it is a boy and I hope the baby shows us the goods! :) Good luck on your BW too! I know we are having healthy babies but it is hard not to worry! I am also getting lots of weird pains and tugs. Step away from that scale!!! I have been keeping a safe distance!
Mellie I hope you are able to get some rest also :( thank you for the good wishes, peace of mind would be wonderful!
Jomae thank you also for the wishes! The BW is a series of tests that are suggested regardless of first results, first comes NT and blood work, then AFP (triple panel) then level II ultrasound with Quad panel (BW). Those are the things my OB suggested, of course you can skip all and go for CVS or amnio, or do nothing at all.
Corny I am praying for your little beans!
Image
Let us know when you get a u/s from RE, the best you can do for them is stay calm (I know easier said then done), talk to them, rub your belly and pray. They already have proven to be fighters! Please stay positive! Keep us posted on how you feel.

Hi Ladies! Wow there sure has been a ton going on here.

Rio- good luck tomorrow. You know I will be praying for you and your baby.

Gecko/Mellie- I too am suffering from insomnia. I usually fall asleep around 10p and I'm up at either 1 or 2. If I'm lucky I will get an additional hour in after DH leaves for work at around 5:30. It's making me crazy

Corny- I am sorry to read that you are having to deal with such problems. Your beans have proven to be fighters in the past and I'm sure they will continue to amaze you and everyone else. Please rest up and take care of yourself.

Katie- we are also going to keep DH's name in the family. And like you we are considering using it as a middle name. I think we have decided to actually use DH's middle name as the baby's middle name (if it's a boy of course) And, if its a girl, we will use my middle name for the baby's middle name.

Jomae- nice to be getting back some cash. Anything is better than nothing and I'm sure it will prove helpful in getting ready for the little one.

Rin- Hey there!!!!! So glad to see you posted. Please keep us in the loop during your next cycle. I will be praying for you.

Sorry if I missed anyone. I hope that you are all doing well.

Other than the insomnia, things have been pretty calm for ME. DH is another story. Saturday we went to visit my parents (1 mile away) and DH took some aleve right as we were walking out the door and before we could get home he started complaining about itching. By the time we pulled into the driveway he was flush and couldn't walk. I ran in the house and grabbed a box of benedryl and a water. I pushed him into the passenger seat and took off for the ER. I got 2 pills down his throat and within about 4 minutes (of him sweating, wailing and telling me he couldn't see) he passed out and stopped breathing. I had to call 911 and let them know we were in route to the ER and to please have someone there waiting for us. DH had gone into anaphylactic shock. They couldn't get a blood pressure reading because it was too low and his oxygen was deathly low. Of course he is fine now, but it was VERY serious. I got my props from the doc and the ER nurses for getting him the benedryl when I did. Hooray for me :D But still it was very scary. Especially when he passed out. I feel so bad for our baby though. Already, this baby has had to deal with my stress and disappointment of having my Skids around last month, losing it's twin, and now this!!! I want to crawl in a hole and stay there for the next 6 months. I'm looking forward to our cruise, but part of me is frightened to death to go. I guess it's a good thing I will see the perinatologist 2 days before we leave and have my level 2 u/s then.

~peace

Weezie - Oh my! What a terrible scare with DH! I am so sorry about what happened. I am really glad to hear that he has had a full recovery. I really hope that you have a fantastic cruise with DH, that you can relax and have fun together!

Anyone starting to feel more cautious? I have a vacation planned with DH for 3 weeks to see my family. We have to fly a lot and I have never been afraid of flying and now I get a little worried about anything happening to us or the baby.... crazy! I am really looking forward to seeing my family and relaxing alone with DH! I will for sure check the posts when I am there!

Okay so I have been in hiding for quite some time now! I have continued to read your posts just lazy to post my own! Sorry to hear about some of the worrying news with some of you ladies!

Weezie: Sorry about the scare. Hope all gets better asap!

Corny: good luck with everything! They will be fighters I can feel it! Take care of yourself and take a nice "luke warm" bath!

Rio: Best wished with y9ou as well! I have my tests coming up at the end of this week. I am sure everything will turn out fine.

Katie: We have girls names picked out. I do not like a lot of boys names whatsoever!

For anyone I missed I appologise!

As for me, I had my 16 week check up today! It is nice cause every time I go in they do an US to hear the heartbeats since the dopler thing can not pick them up individually. Their little butts were touching one another which was cute. Baby A is the mover and Baby B just lies there. Different personalities already! But everything is fine! Only gained 4 pounds...so not bad for being 4 months I suppose. The doctor had a look of excitement on her face when she saw I gained because I lost last month when I was in there...however, I do not like the see the scale go up!

We find out the sex May 8 so I am very excited! We are hoping boy and girl but we shall see! I am ready to start to feel them as well.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Hey Corny- we're here for you. I am sorry that you're feeling down. I would be scared out of my wits, too - just listen to the docs, and rest up- I think it is always easier to just stay in bed all day when no one is telling you to - look at is as an opportunity to catch up on some reading, letter/journal writing and such -and most importantly, keep up the PMA - you and the twins can do it!
thinking of you

Rinnie- hey lady!!! way to go - starting next week!!!!!! i'll be keeping my eye on you

Jomae- wow- a 5grand baby bonus!! is that from your job, or the govt? Yeah, when it comes down to it, it's already been spent!

Mellie -as far as the waking thing goes- right there with you - usually 2am-4or sometimes 5:30am - I sort of think it is an early glimpse at what it will be like when our beans arrive- we'll never get a good night's sleep after that!
though my Mom said she gave me mushy cereal in the evenings from when I was just a week old, and I would sleep right through the night! maybe I'll try that now

Rio- I was not given a Quad test option- i did the trip test BW and NT, now suggest amnio if i want, though none of them say "you should have the test" as they don't want to be responsible if anything goes wrong, or say "you don't need it" in case everything is not alright - sheesh! So.. as for what I'm pretty much set on..
that we will not do the Amnio - 2nd big US is end of MAy -I really believe that everything is fine with our bean, and if for some reason, there was a trisomy 13/18 issue, i would m/c, or bean would not live long after birth. and looking at all of the numbers of the screening test... we have a less than 1% chance of a problem, a half% chance of amnio resulting m/c a perfectly fine bean, and a 5% chance that the results were a false positive - so I think I'm going to leave things alone, and let the universe figure it all out-

Weezie- holy crap! what a fright- glad Dh is ok now-good on you for not panicking during such a crucial moment -you are not only a life giver, you're a life saver, too!!!! you definitely need a break, though!

Sug- how nice-16weeks!!mmmm- yes a b and a g would be perfect! glad you're feeling good- can't wait to hear what you're having

Gecko- I'm feeling the stretches, too- mostly really low, and really high- like right under my ribs in the middle.

Tammy- you doing ok?

katie- yep, finally starting to think about names- my mom does genealogy , so I have been looking at old family names -mostly last names for 1st names and, I am having a tough time with girl-ish names I have a family middle name that I use as my 1st -mostly, it's a male name, but can be female, and since we are the last in either of our families (even of the cousins) to have a kid, a lot of family names have been scooped up!- so I'm going waaaay back to see if anything is cool - we've had 1 name on the charts for a while- almost named the dog it, but decided to save it, you know, just in case  also, don't know whose last name to use - will probably use DH's, b/c it's kinda cool - but who knows-?

mia - did your belly pop out, yet? mine is sort of "beer gutty" there are about half of our friends now our news by now, and it is sort of weird, i've kept the secret for so long now, that I don't really feel like telling people-I have always been good at keeping other's secrets -forever if need be, but this is the 1st of my own I've kept so long.

I just go about my business at school, teaching undergrads to weld and cut metal, and boy do they gripe- "oh it's so hard, that's sooo heavy, blah blah, blah", and I just want to yell- "YEAH! imagine if you were creating a life and having to do this, too!!!!get to work!!!"

anyhow- long post howdy to those i've missed- hope everyone's doing super!

My hunches were right!!!! We are so excited! Now we have to figure out boy names! My DH asked the OB how sure he was that it was a boy and the OB responded "100% BOY!" DH is really beyond himself and so am I, we would love either but since he has a daughter from 1st marriage I thought a Boy would be special!

He took blood for my Expanded AFP test today and I am praying the results come out healthy. I am so nervous. The good news is the RE took a quick look and measurements of head, stomach, heart and said everything looked great. No good pics though :( He was sucking his thumb and everything!

Rio - YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for you! See, your hunch was right?! I am interested to see how many of our hunches turn out correct. You must be so excited! Do you have any names in mind? We ONLY have boys names. Good luck on your bloods. I am sure they will be fine.

loopie - Good luch with your classes. When is the semester over? Are you teaching during the summer. I, fortunately, am not teaching over the summer. I can't wait!

sugabeanz - Great to hear from you! Glad your ob appt. went well. I, unlike you, have been gaining weight galore! Your bubs sound cute! You must be excited to find out the sex. I guess you are next! My next u/s isn't until May 12th and we hope to find out then.

weezie - Glad you are feeling well, but how scary about your DH! I am glad you were there to help out. What a fright! I hope he is well now. Have a wonderful time on your cruise! When do you leave?

Katie - We are using a family name too - at least for the boy's middle name. We haven't even thought about girls names yet. I guess after the next u/s it will be easier!

Hope you are all having a good week. Mine has just been super busy and I am a zombie for most of the day. I am counting the days until Monday. I think we only get to hear on doppler the bubs heartbeat, but that will be exciting. I am just hoping that all is well. It sure feels like he is growing tons!

Take care everyone!

YEAAA congrats Rio im soo excited. I wonder if my hunch will also be right. Im kinda scard if not b.c I will be embarssed like im a bad mom or something lol. Really though im not going to be upset if its not a boy at all. Its just what I think im having. YEEAAAA RIO im glad you got to find out and im glad everyhting looked good.

Well my DH name is Layton (thats his middle name and he goes by it) and his dad and gpa's also. If we have a boy we want his middle name to be layton if we can find a first name. We like Layton Parker. But not so much Parker Layon. SO WHO KNOWS. We just kinda put it off until we know what we are having. If its a girl we like Addison Paige. But I dont know if it will be to popular. So that one is also up in there air but those are the front runners (at themoment) :)

Im just so excited you found out it sorta makes it real. My appointment is in a week so we will find out soon. Im stoked.

Hi Girls good to read you all,

Rio congrats on the boy my sister found out yesterday she too is having a boy they say it comes in waves congrats again gee you could name bub already isn't that cool and boy shopping sounds great maybe i should find out i just can't decide. i'm glad your getting good vibes from your tests also nothing like PMA

Suga great to hear from you your putting on weight thats great i can so imagine your u/s with those little bums touching it sounds so cute

Katie Layton Parker does sound great i love last names for first they seem to have a strenght about them or something if i have a boy i'm considereing Campbell my girl will definately be Katie but can't decide on a middle nbame i love the name Grace for her middle name but would rather save it for a 2nd girl can't decide but it's definately Katie for my first girl

Weezie your dh is lucky you were there for him sounds like your a hero or something well done .i'm going on a night cruise in a few weeks across the bass strait to Tasmania i 've been before and it makes me feel so i'll all i can do is lay down do you know if there is anything we can take to avoid the motion sickness where is your cruise to

Hi Gecko sounds like your in need of some good rest goodluck for monday

Loopie hey yeah the money is for the government everyone in Australia receives it whether you work or are benifits they are just changeing the rules now that if you have bad history for eg drug user or child neglect you get the money in baby vouchers so the money actually goes to the baby which is great there was a boom in very young girls getting pregnant just for the money then giving up the children or just not looking after them so its a good move they have brought in i think.

Mellie i woke early this am and felt like i was wide awake seems to be happening more often than not now

Hey Corny thinking of you hope your resting up and that all is settleing down

best be of brekky time

Rio - Congratulations! That's so exciting! You're the first of us to find out the sex. Little boys are darling. :D

Weezie - Glad your DH is ok and that you were able to keep a calm head.

Katie - Layton sounds like a great name. Not common but not at all weird. That's kind of the balance we're looking for -- not common but not weird -- that's not very specific I suppose :D but it's as far as we've gotten on the naming front.

Loopie - I think the idea of using old family names is really nice. When I look back through my tree though I don't find much inspiration. Lots of monosyllabic names that don't really sound nice for a child. Maybe I'll have to look further.

I'm calling my dr tomorrow. I am so completely congested and think that I may have a sinus infection. We leave Friday for Europe to visit DH's parents and so I want to feel better before getting on the plane. Anyone ever hear of a neti-pot? A friend just told me about them. I'm gonna ask the dr about it and maybe give that a try.
