My doctor didn't seem opposed to dexamethasone and since I don't have PCOS he laughed when I mentioned the metformin. So if Fee says its bad, then I can pass. I have to assume that the Methylprednisolone is similar to the dexamethasone?? I will Dr. Google them and see what I can find.

Don't give up hope. Try to stay as relaxed as possible during the treatment, easier said than done I know. But I swear the acupuncture helped me. My acupuncturist (Chinese) advised me to keep my pelvic area as warm as possible during the 2ww, so I used to tie a cardi around my waist while at work, and at home in the evenings I used to wrap a blanket around my middle. I also used to take myself off to bed about an hour before hubby, with a cup of decaf tea and a good book, just for some me time, and I swear this really helped me to relax.
I was convinced it hadn't worked as when I had my transfer the Dr warned us to expect the worst as one of the embryos had got to a 4 cell and seemed to have stopped, and the other had only reached 2 cells, so things didn't look particularly good. I remember crying my eyes out in the transfer room, but that little embryo proved them wrong and is now 7 month old Ruby!!
Don't give up hope. xxx

Dont give up or lose hope! We were very blessed it worked on the first time as it is an expensive process. We were lucky insurance covered most of it.
I was 23 at the time with Polycystic ovaries. Clomid did nothing for me whatsoever. Husband has a little dented sperm but nothing to keep us from fertility on his part yet they still did ICSI. The meds did not work for me at first until they doubled the dose then the follicles really took off. I commend any women that goes through this process because it is really rough and emotional. Good luck to you all!!!

Previous fresh cycles I was on 225 of Puregon with Lucrin injections for suppression. Crinone Gel suppositories for endometrium support. The FET cycle was natural and I was monitored by daily blood tests to see when I ovulated naturally and was then put on the crinone gel after ET
Did you add anything to your protocol to help (baby aspirin, drink pineapple juice and so on)?
I did take baby aspirin off my own accord - 1 a day up until 7 weeks. I also took chinese herbs from the beginning until 7 weeks - I have had previous m/c and bio chem pregnancies and decided to take things into my own hands. The herbs were called "holding herbs" meant to make the embryo "stick". I stopped all of this after my 7 week u/s scan.
How many were transferred?

Frozen at day 5, transferred back at day 5 with Assisted Hatching

Both - 2!! Boy/Girl twins

Nausea - feeling like sea sickness all the time. Cravings for orange juice, eggs. General tiredness. BBs went from a 12D to a 16DD in a matter of weeks!
What did you get a from POAS or beta only?
Got a positive POAS from First Response at around 8 DAYS PAST 5 DAY TRANSFER or 13 DPO. My beta reading at 15 DPO was 250.
Did you try any alternative help (such as acupuncture)?
I did try acupuncture initially with my first fresh cycle and I think it helped to get quite a few eggs but discontinued after becoming disheartened and tired of paying out money all the time :-/
Do you have any advice to give us?
Try not to give up hope and keep researching researching! Don't be scared to change clinics (I did after the first 2 attempts thank god) and keep your support lines open.

What IVF number was this for you?
#1 was cancelled due to poor response. We changed clinics (to CCRM in CO) and were successful on first IVF with CCRM

What was your protocol?
My dx was diminished ovarian reserve (I was 36 yrs at time of egg retrieval) so I had an extremely strong protocol. Down cycle was doxycyline for me and dh, and I took estrace and prometrium vaginal suppositories.
Stim was 2 amps of menopur, 300 units Gonal-F, and dex (dexamethosone? I think that's what it's called) and 100mg of clomid per day for the first 5 days. Then, starting on day 6 it was 2 amps of menopur, 300 units Gonal-F, antagon, dex, and estrace each day.
After transfer I took prometrium vaginally and estrace and a baby aspirin. (I think the baby aspirin started before transfer, actually.)
Did you add anything to your protocol to help (baby aspirin, drink pineapple juice and so on)?
My clinic had me take a baby aspiring every day. I stopped all excercise other than very short walks. I gave up all caffeine and alcohol long before the IVF cycle

Before my beta I just had period-like cramps. Sore bbs came about a week after the beta
What did you get a from POAS or beta only?
I POAS the night before the beta. It was positive and I was shocked and just sobbed with relief and happiness. The next day my beta was 160 (14 days after retrieval -- 9dp5dt)
Did you try any alternative help (such as acupuncture)?
I did acupuncture once a week for about 9 months prior to the successful IVF. I don't really think it had much to do with my success given that my diagnosis was an egg quality problem. That said, when we go back for IVF again for a second child I will probably begin doing acupuncture again once a week. Why mess with success?
Do you have any advice to give us?
Make sure you're at the best clinic you can afford. The cycle that we succeeded on would have been canceled before egg retrieval at most clinics. Check out your clinic's success rates as they are reported to the CDC (not what the clinic tells you). The lab is so critical with IVF. We even went out of state to be at the best clinic and it paid off for us.
Also, having IVF away from home was way easier than I thought it would be. I actually think it was better b/c I wasn't going to work every day and dealing w/all the mundane things of life. My husband and I would eat at different little places in the Denver area and go to the mall, hang out, watch tv at our hotel. It was somehow less stressful I think.

I gave up caffine for two weeks before transfer
I had my one diseased ovary removed (endo ) three months before the cycle - I was just keeping it for looks - it wasnt producing under stims
Most importantly for me - I had Lipidol flushing two months before the cycle- this was at my insistence - I always thought I had a barren and sandy old uterus- (even with endo I had very light periods). This was my magic trick.

nothing for first 4-5 weeks. Sore boobs are due to the progesterone supplement so you cant count those.
At 6 weeks symptoms came in - bloating, nausea, hunger and fatigue - but they come and go. One day huge hunger, next no apetitite

Didn't get a POAS until after betas. Did at least 2 PCOS everyday for two weeks, kept them all under the sink and looked at them every night!
Betas were high which was due to twins, think first was 500

I did accupuncture and loved it- I dont think it helped much with my cycle but it was really relaxing and I enjoyed the treat.

Try not to overthink everything, especially the tww - easier to give advice than take it. I felt much more positive during my first two cycles and had no result. My last cycle was extremely average but it worked. It is such a numbers game, you just need to keep trying, keep perspective and hope that the jackpot hits. Good luck

Was the successful IVF fresh or frozen?

Did you add anything to your protocol to help (baby aspirin, drink pineapple juice and so on)?
I ate raw pineapple on the day of transfer, just for a laugh.
I gave up caffine for two weeks before transfer
I had my one diseased ovary removed (endo ) three months before the cycle - I was just keeping it for looks - it wasnt producing under stims
Most importantly for me - I had Lipidol flushing two months before the cycle- this was at my insistence - I always thought I had a barren and sandy old uterus- (even with endo I had very light periods). This was my magic trick.
How many were transferred?
IVF1 - 2 perfect blasts BFN
IVF2- 2 perfect defrosted blasts BFN
IVF 3 - .......see below
Were they 3 day or 5 day blasts?
They were 2 day transfers because there was such poor reponse - didnt want to risk leaving them out of the body
How many took?
Both!
Did you feel anything different to make you think that this might be it?
nope- didnt have any hope at all, didnt feel different - didnt believe the BFP result, cried before my 6 wk scan because thought I had miscarried (no reason just not very hopeful)
What were your pregnancy symptoms?
nothing for first 4-5 weeks. Sore boobs are due to the progesterone supplement so you cant count those.
At 6 weeks symptoms came in - bloating, nausea, hunger and fatigue - but they come and go. One day huge hunger, next no apetitite
What did you get a from POAS or beta only?
Didn't get a POAS until after betas. Did at least 2 PCOS everyday for two weeks, kept them all under the sink and looked at them every night!
Betas were high which was due to twins, think first was 500
Did you try any alternative help (such as acupuncture)?
I did accupuncture and loved it- I dont think it helped much with my cycle but it was really relaxing and I enjoyed the treat.
Do you have any advice to give us?
Try not to overthink everything, especially the tww - easier to give advice than take it. I felt much more positive during my first two cycles and had no result. My last cycle was extremely average but it worked. It is such a numbers game, you just need to keep trying, keep perspective and hope that the jackpot hits. Good luck
