Corny- Congrats on your twin girls! You must be very excited. What is twin to twin transfusion Syndrome? It is good that they are keeping a close eye on you and your girls. My best wishes to you. You are an inspiration to us all with all you have been through!

Katie- I love the name Parker! How fun to have a chance to take a peek at him. I am glad all went well with you scan.

Jomae - I dont' think I could NOT find out the sex - especially with the advances in u/s these days. Keep us posted on what you decide. It would be fun to have a surprise for us in October!

Loopie - I think DH and I are going to go ahead with the circumcision. That way he will look like daddy. I think the population is pretty split right now so either way would be fine.

Sugabeanz - I haven't had any hip pain yet, but lots of back pain. It does go away if I sit in my recliner for a little while though. Try pillows to see if it helps. If not, ask your doctor. They may have some tricks that work. I am sorry you are not feeling well. I am constipated too and it really makes me crabby more than anything. I don't have the severe pains you are having. Try lots and lots of fiber bars. That usually works for me. Hope you are well soon.

Tammy - My prayers are with you and your little one today. I just know everything will turn out ok. Post when you can. We will be on pins and needles waiting..... Happy Birthday!!! Sorry about the ear infection ending your trip. That really sucks. Are you feeling better? Zachary is a beautiful name! How exciting to have a son! I know I was pretty excited when we found out. I was expecting a boy exactly for the reason you mentioned. I heard that at least 60% of IVF babies are boys. I am so glad you have the nursery together. We are just starting that process. The painting should be done by the end of June and I am hoping to have the nursery set up by the end of July. THEN I can relax. How wonderful that your aunties can be there with you today. Very special - and they sound like wonderful people. You are blessed!

Have a wonderful weekend mommas!

Tammy: Happy birthday! I will keep you in me thoughts...hopefully nothing will be found! And I am sure it will just be confirmed that it is a boy today!

Ok, so I feel stupid. I went and talked to a nurse that goes to our church who happens to be an OB nurse...well I am just having severe round ligament pain. See I knew I was not constipated! I feel a little better today just still in pain. She said that is very typical esp. for twin mommies. But it makes me feel better that it is nothing horribly wrong. I suppose I am just one of those freak out first time moms.

Also, I have lost my appetite. I am seriously only eating maybe 1200 calories a day? I am still eating healthy because I dont want to get my babies all sugared out but gosh. I feel bad because now is the time I need to pack on the weight for them to get their fat storage. It has only been the past 3 days but if it does not go away I think the doc. and I need to have a chat because I need them to gain weight esp. if they may be born premature!

Corny- Congrats on the baby girls! They will hav eplenty of boys to pick from ;) I hope all goes well, I don't know what this syndrome is so feel free to enlighten us! Good luck!
Jomae - wow, I went to Tasmania once, it was awesome, I dove there and it was fabulous! Glad you had a good vacation. I don't think I could wait to find out the sex, I am too impatient!!!
Rin- sweetie - I am so sorry! At least you know your body is getting there and you will be a beautiful momma!!!!
Loopie- We have opted for circumcision, I just don't like the way it looks either, plus I know men who weren't and they wish they had been, much harder to do as an adult.
Suga- hope your pains and aches go away, it is totally normal to overanalize everything!
Tammy- Happy birthday and I am praying for your bean, please let us know how everything went.
Gecko - good to hear from you!
Mia - where are you?
weezie - hang in there, being a stepmom is hard and even harder pregnant!!! We try talking about the baby and my SD is excited but she always manage to bring the subject of her as a baby so it is all about her, and now she needs to compare everything baby to her and honestly I don't want to hear all about her as a baby or have a reminder that my beloved DH had a baby with his evil ex, selfish, I know!

Well I got put on bed rest for half of yesterday until Monday :( I know it is nothing compared to you girls! I am so bored already!!! I had some dull pressure and some shapr pains, OB seems to think stretch pains but just in case he put me in house arrest! Image I really don't know how you girls don't go crazy! Other than that, little huge bean (weighed two weeks ahead at the last u/s - they measured him up and figured out weight) has been kicking me constantly all day, especially when I go to rest, for the last 2 weeks. Some really hard kicks and punches that DH got to feel! He can't believe the punch he packs!

Good luck to all of us, you girls are wonderful! Have a fun weekend!!!

WELCOME RIO to the bed rest crowd! haha. It gets pretty boring! I hope Thursday I get the clean bill of health as I am sure you will on Monday. The pressure is gone for me. I feel the babies more in the morning and at night around 11-12PM. Not feeling them during the day scares me at times but then I get a reassuring little kick.

Happy Birthday Tammy! I am sure everything will go great today with your tests.

Rio - welcome to bedrest! It's not fun. Ok, so since you mention it, here's the long and short of twin to twin transfusion syndrome...I got this off of a website:

Twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a random abnormality of a monochorionic placenta that causes one identical twin to receive less than normal amounts of blood supply during pregnancy while the other receives too much. The babies share blood vessels in their placenta that cause an imbalance of blood flow and nutrients between them. There are degrees to the severity of the syndrome, but it is always life-threatening due to the fact that it can worsen at anytime during pregnancy.

They have a TTTS Foundation and their website has been very helpful to me. Sometimes they can manage the problem with amnio, other times they need to do this laser surgery which is only offered at a few hospitals here in the US. Nonetheless, the Dr. who invented this laser surgery has his email address available on the internet. I emailed him some questions this morning and within minutes he called me to discuss my case. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with me and I hung up feeling much better about the situation. He said if I do in fact have it, we are in the very early stages (which is good news). He instructed me to drink 3 cans of boost or ensure every day in order to pack on the pounds (they are almost guaranteed to come early and he said it's important we get them as big as we can). Anyways, my next appointment is Monday so we will see if things have improved or gotten worse and go from there. What an amazing doctor though to get back to me so quickly and take the time to answer my questions. That's it in a nutshell. I didn't want to bore you with all of the details, If you bedrest girls are bored out of your minds, there is a very informative website...www.tttsfoundation.org

Hope everyone is doing great! I am jealous of all of you who can feel your babies. I'm 16w3d and I still haven't felt my girls...hopefully soon!

Hi Girls

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TAMMY
its sounds like you've got a great day planned how cool to see bub on your birthday and congrats on the boy i'm sure everything will go just fine have a good one

Gecko you made a good point about icsi babies being more likely to be boys so heres my question for those who had icsi i think there were a few of us if i remember rightly who is is this theory turning out to be correct for is any of us icsi ladies having a girl, you can see i really want to know what i'm having this is the fun part though trying to guess.

If i'm lucky to have a boy his name will be Campbell and then have his dads name followed by his dads dads name. but if the theory isn't true for me and we are lucky enough to have a girl her name will be KATIE possibly with Grace for a middle name. All this not know is doing my head in right now.

rio bed rest that sux i'm glad its only for a few days though i could do with that right now i seriously need some me time which i never seem to be able to get

Suga i bet thursday cant come quick enough i hope you get the all clear

Hey corny man i feel for you i think i have things to worry about someones definately making sure you work for these babies .its great that the doctor got straight back to you and was able to help reassure you goodluck for monday.

My Ds has recently become obsessed with the wiggles if you've heard of them and is in the lounge with the dvd on trying to copy there actions it's so funny to watch arms and legs going everywhere

must dash it's ten in the morning here and i'm still not ready to go out

Hey Jomae - there's still hope for you for a girl. I did ICSI and I'm having girls...so that ICSI/boy theory isn't 100%. I admire you for not finding out. I just couldn't bare the suspense that long. And I'm way too much of a control freak! :D :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMMY!
Hope all went well for you today!

Rio - Sorry to hear about the bedrest. Hope everything going well for you.

Corny - Glad to hear that the dr was so responsive. That's great that he got in touch with you so quickly.

Suga - Sorry about the bedrest. Hope the aches and pains aren't too bad now. I've heard other girls talk about drinking shakes to gain weight. I think that's the "Boost" drink that Corny was talking about.

jomae - I couldn't wait to find out the sex. I'm too curious. Welcome back from your trip!

Loopie - If we have a boy I think we will circumcise. DH prefers it and I think it can have a protective effect against things like HIV. Here's report from the CDC:
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsh ... cision.htm

Seems strange to think of such things with our tiny babies but I figure it's a practical health issue to consider.

All's well over here. In the last few weeks I've put back on the few pounds I lost in the first trimester and I think this gain will continue. It's a bit hard to let yourself gain weight in some ways. Seems like I spent most of my life fighting to keep it down and so it's a little disconcerting to see the number go up  but it's best for the little one so I'll just get used to it.

So many folks are on bedrest. How are all of the bedrest buddies doing? How are you keeping busy?

I haven't heard of a higher proportion of males with ICSI but I have heard that babies born from blastocyst transfers are slightly more likely to be male. So, those of us who had a 5 day transfer might have a slightly greater chanc of boys. Here's a link to an abstract of a study for anyone who's interested:

http://www.springerlink.com/content/q00777220381k602/

Sorry for all the links. I'm a researcher by profession (in psychology not in medicine) and can't help myself!

Anyone bought nursery furniture yet? Anyone found a great place to buy? I've been looking online at the usual places (BabiesRUs and Target). Haven't quite found what I'm looking for yet so please throw out a suggestion if you have one!

Quick question ladies...for those who are feeling movement...is it normal you think to feel them some days and not others? I felt them a day ago but not in like 30 hours have I felt them again. I tried the trick lying on my back, drinking juice, eating, NOTHING! I just want a little kick to know they are still alive!

Also, I got my furniture used because it is just so expensive! We have craigslist here where people post a lot of stuff they are selling. So instead of $300 for a crib you can get them barely used for $100 if you find a good one!

Great news!!! We are having a beautiful bouncing "heart healthy" baby BOY!!! Even the heart doc looked and said no mistaken that...it is definetly a boy! The fetal heart echocardiogram couldnt have gone better!!! He is perfect!!! Then at the regular gender ultrasound...she said, "No guessing here...that is the scrotum and that is his penis." LOL So 3 docs and techs agreed completely. I am just sooo happy that he is healthy. The doc made us really nervous the whole time...not talking and shaking his head no as if he doesnt like what he sees. Then at the end ...he even said, "This looks good...that looks good" and you can just hear the "BUT" coming ....but it thankfully never did. Woohooo!!!! We then had a great lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise and my aunts brought a birthday cake with candles with them that the whole crew came out and sang to me. Was my face red. LOL They got me a gift card for a nursing bra and lots of baby boy stuff. They actually had a girl bag and a boy bag all ready to go...just in case. LOL They then took us shopping and bought us our bedding and some accessories for the room....and bought my bassinett, too. DH got me some gift cards for maternity clothes and some baby stuff, too. It was the best birthday, ever! Can I have one like this every year? LOL We finished the long day at my dear friend's wedding reception and needless to say when my head hit the pillow at 11:30...I was out like a light. LOL  I am actually doing pretty good with the sugars...and high blood pressure ...so I wont have to go back to the docs for 2 weeks, now! Yayy! I was going every week and calling in my sugar numbers every other day. So finally a break....

Rio: Your on bedrest, too? Geesh, I hope it goes by quickly and you start feel better.

Loopie: How cool that you're having a boy, too! It feels like you're my pregnancy twin! LOL

Suga: Perfectly normal for now. You wont begin to feel them everyday for a few more weeks. No worries. I get some intense pains from round ligament pain....especially when I turn over to fast. It too is normal.

Mellie: We bought our crib and dresser set from Burlington's Baby Depot Dept. We love it...and with a special sale they have right now...it is 30% off the second piece of furniture. It was tagged at $229 orig. but sold for $199. however, with the sale ...we basically got each piece for $170 each. Also since we registered with them...we also got a $25 gift card for spending over $200 total and registering. So the price was even less than that. It is the newer style furniture and we just love it.

Jomae: I cant believe you are gonna be surprised. That is good will-power. LOL I love the names you have picked.

Cornybaby: Good Luck on Monday. I have heard of TTTS ...I will be praying for you all.

Katie: Parker is a really cute name. Lots of boys on here!

Gecko: What is new with you? Yayyy for boys! My ear infection isnt any better and I broke out in a rash with the amoxicillan...so they switched me to another antibiotic.

Mia: How are you doing? When do you find out what you're having?

On the whole circumcision issue....my DH is uncircumcisized. He is very anal about washing and keeping it clean like his parents taught him when he was young...it doesnt look too strange either (lol), but in this day and age...we have decided that we're gonna have Zach circumcisized. We just dont want him to have to deal with the explanations and the teasing from other kids.

By the way...we bought Fresh-Aire paint from Home Depot for $34 a gallon, for the nursery. Well worth it. It doesnt stink at all and is even safe for pregnant women to paint. It wont have toxic fumes lingering around for months to come. Yayy!

Everyone else....love to hear from you. :D

hi girls! nice to hear such good news!

Tammy- congrats oh the A+ from the docs and a beautiful heart!- and, yes, I feel like we are pg twins! did you do ICSI? sounds like you got a super deal at burlington! I like the modern style furniture as well, however, to be frugal, we're going to use my mom's 76 year old crib -it's pretty cool- simple, small, and on wheels, so I can move it around (with a new mattress, bumper etc- of course!) and for the changing table, we'll use a victorian era chest of drawers with changing pad on top. My family is chocked full of really old stuff, so it seems silly to get new, when we'll have enough other expenses (perhaps I'll give everything a paint job)

oh speaking of paints.. yes there are low VOC paints that we pg ladies can use - i've painted a bit with latex based paint, and while not a great idea, it's just been here and there touchups where we banged into the walls while working on the space.
dh and i painted the room a really intense yellow a couple of years ago as a guest/future little person room. we're not doing it up like a nursery, just making it a bit more baby friendly - mobiles, old school Pooh, and Beatrix Potter, perhaps a small mural? who knows...

Jomae- we did ICSI and are having an 'outdoor plumbing" baby!  I think there is a 50/50 chance in just about any case- do you have a feeling? any premonitions? at about 4 weeks, I had a very vibrant dream that I was having a boy (it was wild, and from then on, I kind of started to get used to the idea that it may not be a girl like i'd always imagined)
actually, I think Campbell would do marvelously for a little girl as well- you could call her Bell for short.
We had 1 name picked out regardless of gender, it was going to make it into our bubs name - an old family last name, Pulman - sort of weird, but I like it- my mom is a genealogist for our family and history is very important to me, so i'm going through our family names -some 1st, mostly last- to find just the one for our bean

anyhow- off to the farmer's market-mmm fresh stuff!

bedrest gals- must you stay at home all of the time, or can you get out at all? is it really "stay in bed 24/7"?

bumpin' 08

Hey Loopie

Your furnishings sound great we restored our furniture for Jacob as well and will use it for the new bub also it's all solid pinr so it was easy to sand back and restain quite easy and it turned out great like brand new. my mums into family treeing as well with my granparents and to be honest it's turning into an obssession for them all even my dad is getting involved which is not like him at all. will Pulman be for bubs first name or a middle name it will definately be unique which is great.

I do have an inkling we are having a girl but you never do know with Jacob i dreamt i gave birth to a girl several times but when i dreamt i was shopping for the baby there was never any girl stuff to buy and i'd walk around saying why is it only boy things whats going on. i've had one dream with this pregnancy that i had a little boy but no shopping dreams yet so i can't tell by that but my gut is telling me we are having a girl

and not to dissapoint anyone but i think i'v decided to find out officially knowing my luck though bub won't cooperate on the day and keep their little legs shut tight i guess if it that happens i definately wasn't meant to know

Anyway i hope your all well chat soon
