Hello and nice to meet everyone!

I just stumbled across this site tonight. (Tomorrow is my blood test and I'm sitting up anxious!)

new to IVF

Post by babyloves »

Hi everyone!
First time in a blog...have the dreaded unexplained type...told i have high prolactin and tried dostinex, which didn't help...and now had prolactin checked and is fine... I run on a high stress level and for the last 5 yrs have been finishing up my medical career. finally finishing this in june, and looking forward to IVF more stress-free. Had 3 unsuccesful IUI this past year. Going to stim for ganirelex on july 4th, currenlty on neocon BCP...anyone else doing ganirelex or have any success stories on this protocol? Any advice about lowering stress - yoga vs. acupuncture?

Hi! and welcome Bottlerocket and babyloves!

bablyloves- best of luck with the start of your cycle, and congrats - are you finishing your studies?! my protocol involved Folistim, Menopur, and Ganerilix - 1st IVF and am now 23wks! Most REs use the protocol that has been shown to do the best for the women in their clinic/hospital. and what they know about you- I believe that I was on F & M for several days, then added G to stave off ovulation- most cycles have something like this- just different name?

stay strong, confident, and positive- these are the weapons you possess to aid in a successful result!

join a buddies thread to help you along the way

best!

Dear loopie,
my Ganirelix cycle sounds like yours as far as the meds...did you do yoga or acupuncture, etc with your first cycle. I find it hard to stay positive because of the prospect of let-down...so i try to be realistic instead...but maybe i should be more optimistic. My DH's motility was only 8% (the normal is above 14%). My doc did not make this a big issue, but i'm wondering if its low and if ICSI is the way to overcome...any similar problems with anyone?

Babyloves

my DH has teratozoospermia( oddly shaped heads) and low motility 4% as it turned out.

Your dh's #s are no reason to fret- we did ICSI- whereby they take a single sperm (best they can find  :D ) and inject it into the egg - this gives the greatest chance of a successful conception where sperm count/morphology is concerned

I also had been doing acupuncture for the year prior for pain relief from back surgery, and continued as she has a special interest in fertility assistance. I feel that this was beneficial to our success and helped me feel strong and keep up the PMA during the stress of treatment. there are other women who have done TCM ( Traditional Chinese Med) and there is a thread in IVF just for that if you are interested in more than just a/p.

while I was scared shitless at the road ahead- I honestly felt so strongly that it would work for us, I never truly considered that it wouldn't, scared or not. That being said, I knew that things looked very good on my end - no problems with ovulation, tubes, uterus, cervix, etc- so as infertility goes, a problem with Dh's little troopers was the best case scenario in our situation even with clinic success rates at about 32% ( and lower for us older girls)

I admire all the women on this site who have the strength and courage to continue to strive for their dreams and stay positive when given such tough odds.
I hope you can be optimistic about your cycle- Dh, this site, acupuncture, and a bevy of friends able to listen to me is what got us through

many wishes for success to you
