Hi Everyone,

Had my Non-stress test (NST) yesterday. The stress is relatively non-stress but the environment is not. The waiting room was so very full at the fetal diagnostic center. And then there was a woman with 5 children and very pregnant with #6 (ages ranging from two thru eight). These kids were running around and making so much noise. The woman could not handle her own kids that were running amuck. There was another pregnant lady that couldn't stand waiting in the waiting room and complained to the girls at the front desk.

Anyhoo, I get called in for my test. My husband and I walk in. And I get placed next to the woman with all those kids. It was just a sheet curtain dividing us. What such luck.

I got these sensors put on my belly. We got to hear the heartbeat. The test was 20-40 minutes long depending on the readings. It sounded like galloping horses. Then I had to press a button each time I felt baby's movement. The nurse explained that they want to check the baby's heart beat at the time of the movement. Baby must have been sleeping. They gave me a cup of very cold water to drink in hopes that baby would wake up. Baby did but it only gave baby the hiccups which showed on the graph. We had mini u/s. This was to check how much amniotic fluid I had and baby's position. Well, the head is in the down position getting ready the tech said. My DH is so cute, he told the tech that we don't know the sex and don't want to know before she did it.

I have to schedule another one next week. OMG! I had a headache :x walking out of there.

I actually begged my OB/GYN not to send me there again because of my bad experience. But does anyone hear me, "No-o-o."

I had to say a sad farewell to my '94 Corolla which I bought brand new in March or '94. I cried  a little saying good-bye to my dear friend. It's given me many years of trouble-free service until now. My DH said that we just have to bite the bullet and buy a new car. The thought of me going from a compact (which I love) to a F-A-M-I-L-Y car made me shudder. Well, finances will be tough but I think we can manage.

We purchased a 2008 RAV4. Thank goodness I knew one of the salesman execs at the Toyota car dealearship we went to. My DH felt so comfortable with him. We felt good with the purchase, no buyers remorse. I just got my temp. ins. card in the mail yesterday. So we're planning on bringing the car out to church and having it blessed as well as us, the drivers. My DH told me that it is the first time he's ever owned a new car.

Well, I've got to go. Baby is kicking and moving plenty. I think he/she is telling me that I have to go eat.

Karen

Karen - congrats on the new car. Sounds like a good purchase.

I need some advice from you all. Has anyone here had skin problems during pregnancy? All of a sudden I have dermatitis on my eyelids - underneath and around the eye and on the lid. It is scaly, rough, flaky, itching, burning, etc. It is driving me crazy. My PCP said to put hydrocortisone cream on it but I read on the Net that this isn't so good for the thin skin of the eyelids. Has anyone developed any strange skin conditions during pregnancy? I am hoping this is just related to being pregnant and it will go away. I've never had any skin issues before...this sucks.

Hi seltzer - sorry to hear about your skin problems. I work as a pharmacy technician and in the uk you wouldn't be able to buy hydrocortisone (or any other steroids) for use on the face, however, it is often supplied against a doctor's prescription. If you do decide to use it, get the lowest strength you can - 0.5% or lower preferably. As you're using it around the eyes it would be best to get an 'eye ointment' rather than a cream or ointment for the body then it wouldn't matter if a little goes into the eye.
Have you tried a basic moisturiser? Something like aqueous cream might be worth trying first. I hope that helps

Hi to everyone else. Sorry I haven't posted lately but I have been reading and keeping up with you all.
I finished work 1 week ago and am loving being at home, especially as wimbledon tennis is on at the moment (perfect excuse to put my feet up every afternoon!)
I can't believe we're all so close to having our babies at last. Other than tiredness and indigestion I'm still feeling really well. I collected my pram (stroller), car seat etc this week so it all seems so real now. I can't wait to use them!

Seltzer,
It does sound to me like it is pregnancy related. I have little spots on my cheeks that are not so visible, but I can certainly feel them. I haven't had the eyelid problems you describe, but my skin in general is MUCH drier and itchier than normal, and it seems like I am constantly applying skin cream. Also, my legs and belly seem shinier than normal, I imagine due to stretching and water retention. It seems logical to me that your skin issues will go away after you deliver. Try not to fret! I attribute any superficial/visible changes to pregnancy at this point. Think of all the extra hormones, extra blood flow, extra fluid, and it's no wonder! I wonder if there isn't a natural liquid vitamin or mineral (think aloe, olive oil based cream) that will help to soothe your eye area. Hope this was helpful! Be well, and I hope the flakiness clears up soon  ...

Hi Seltzer:

The only skin trouble I've been having is that my legs are dry, scaly and that it looks like pin-point red dots on it. No signs of vericose veins yet. I use a moisturizing body wash and moisturizing body lotion twice a day if not more. The dryness took about a month to clear up. No signs of other skin problems, though.

Everyone else: Anyone with swollen ankles yet?

Karen,
Congrats on the purchase of your car. Enjoy! As far as the swelling goes, my extremities in general are a bit swollen, but since I cut down on salt and started the GD diet, the swelling has gone wayyyy down.

Hi everyone,
Karen, congrats on normal stress test & new car -I like Rav 4's and I think you will appreciate not having to bend down to get baby in & out of car seat.
Hi Squeezan, I'm so glad you're doing well. I had a feeling you've been lurking around the MB's

Seltzer - why don't you try some benedryl cream around your eyes? Benedryl is on my approved list. It might help with the itchiness. Or just try some antibiotic ointment(ointment not cream)/vaseline at night time to relieve the dry flakiness. You never know when you're suddenly going to develop a dermatitis. A couple of years back I switched brands of fabric softener sheets & almost wound up in the emergency room. You're problem might be related to the pregnancy or not, it could even be food related. Sometimes you can suddenly develop an allergy to something like strawberries.
As far as my own pregnancy skin problems -I have also have the little red dots here & there but most annoyingly I have a couple of spider vein's that have popped up on my face. They are hard to cover up with makeup and there's no point in trying to have them removed until after the pregnancy. I'm hoping they go away on their own.
I better get going now. We've got some errands to run.
Take care,
Rebecca

Hi, everyone!

Karen - congrats on the new car! New cars are so exciting - it always feels so fresh, new, smells good - even when they are used. They are at least clean in a way that I can't ever keep mine!!

Su - good to hear from you and that you are doing well!!!

Selzer - I have not had any skin problems, thankfully. So sorry - can't help you. Oh wait - I have gotten some freckles on my legs and some weird little skin tags - ha! :? That is it so far. I keep waiting for stretch marks or spider vieins, but nothing else. I think my back pain is making up for anything else I have missed. I won't complain though as I know I have had a very easy pregnancy so far and don't want to jinx it.

As for me, I am washing all of Noah's clothes and blankets and stuff today. I am in major nesting mode! We did our childbirth class yesterday - I thought much of it was a waste of time. We cracked up on some of it. I think the first half was great, but the second half was pretty lame. It was all day! I think my husband is still traumatized by the very graphic delivery of the placenta on one of the videos. He thought it looked like a big root.

One of my best friends who lives out of town just brought Noah this huge basket of goodies - such fun! Tomorrow we go to the doc and I get my first scan in 8 weeks - yeah!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Take care all!

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all for your response to my dermatitis issue. It appears to be a little better since I stopped using eye shadow on Friday (I am hypothesizing it was caused by that). I am slathering Eucerin around the eyes daily. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Today I ended up in triage at Labor & Delivery, SIGH  If it ain't one thing it's another. I couldn't sleep last night...every time I tried to lie down I felt like I was going to pass out and puke. I've been feeling this way during the day lately too. It was the night from hell. So I called the dr. on call and he said to come in to get checked. The baby and I were evaluated, and they said we are both OK. I still feel like crap. They said I need to drink more fluids, that I was a little dehydrated. It's just so damn hard to eat and drink because every time I do it results in pain and pressure and trouble breathing. Tonight it's bad again and I am just dreading trying to sleep. And I have to go to work tomorrow. So at this point I am scared and worried about the baby (not that I have reason to, but I am scared). I just wish I could breathe a little better. People say I am carrying very high, and maybe that's why I feel so bad. Who knows. I can't wait till this is over. On a happier note, after I left the hospital I went straight to my shower (an hour late), and had a nice time. I saw my best friend from high school (don't get to see her much) and her new baby, who's 4 mos. It was a lovely party with many nice gifts. Well, ladies, sleep well everyone and talk to you all tomorrow.

Hello Ladies,
Just an update about my GD: My (wonderful) dietitian said absolutely not to worry about the isolated high BS levels. She said I'm doing great with everything. I asked her about the IV for baby at birth, and she said that no, the baby doesn't get an IV immediately, but rather just BS checks. She said the worst case scenario is that he'll have low BS and that they will give him glucose (through IV) to compensate. She said it is nothing to worry about, especially if I continue to do as well as I am. She really gave me a boost of confidence and energy to get through the home stretch.

Seltzer,
Sorry to hear about the scare you went through! I am glad that you and baby are okay, and that you were able to enjoy your shower right afterwards! In this heat, I am always thirsty, and when I feel I didn't have enough to drink, I also get nauseous and dizzy. Only a few more weeks and all this pregnancy discomfort will be over. Hang in there!

Su,
Hey, it's been a while! How are you feeling? I am home too, on bedrest (which I guess you know if you've read the posts up until now). Glad to hear you are enjoying Wimbledon and your time at home before baby arrives. Keep us posted in the coming weeks if you can!

Be well everyone.

Karen: Congrats on the new car!!! As well as the stress test.....My doc has not mentioned anything about a stress test...I wonder if it is just something that some doctors do, but not all???

Seltzer:So sorry to hear about your skin problems...however glad to hear it is doing a little better without the eye makeup! :D

I just had my 32 week appointment. All is well in the land of the babes! Sullivan is still head down and weighs 3lbs 15 oz and Miles is still lying across my belly on top weighing 3lbs 13 oz. The doc is happy with their weights and continues to say we are on a play it by ear basis. The only thing he will tell me for sure is that he will not let me go past 38 weeks, other than that he will not pin point a due date. I am getting very anxious!! I guess it doesn't help that I get little to no sleep at night!! It is crazy to think that I have almost 8lbs of baby in my uterus!! I have not gained any more weight...I have gained a total of 21 lbs thus far....I can't help but be concerned but the doc and dietician are fine with it. I know that should make me feel better, but I just feel like I should be bigger...are we ever satisfied?!

The store that I work in the most gave me a surprise baby shower last Friday. It was sooo sweet! We got all kinds of cute little clothes, blankets etc....

I had my first pre-natal pediatrician consultation this morning and have one more set up for next week...anyone else screening peds or has everyone already choosen?

That is all for now!

Hello!

Marybeth - I was not told anything about a stress test either. Guess it just depends on the doctor and his protocol. Glad to hear you are doing so well! You really don't have long to go!

Shari - Glad your appt with the dietician went well! I am glad that made you feel good! You know you are doing everything you can to take care of the baby, but sometimes it is just nice to hear someone else say it!!

Seltzer - I am sorry about your scare! Sometimes when I lie down for a while, I can start to feel like I am almost suffocating...which is weird. I just assume it is the pressure from the baby. I roll over and it goes away. Weird. Glad you are doing better!

As for Noah, he is weighing in at 4 lbs and 10 oz and all is great! That still seems big to me considering how far I have to go. Hmmm....oh well! I am still not scared about delivery. I figure that you gotta trust the doctors, you know? Maybe growing up with a dad as a doctor helps. I don't know. Noah's body caught up to his head and legs, so he is proportioned much better now! :) He even has a little hair we could see, although we thought it looked a bit like a mullet...you know, business in the front, party in the back!!   Have you guys heard that phrase?

OMG tina, I am totally laughing my ass off over your mullet comment! Does he have a rat tail too?! :D I guess Noah will be getting a trim early on to bring him up to date...so he doesn't look like he's living in the 80s. Glad to hear all is well w/you and Baby Noah. I am relieved to hear you say you feel as if you're being suffocated when you lie down. I've been feeling that way since about 26 weeks. Very uncomfortable! I can only sleep with my head propped up significantly.

Shari - Glad to hear your dietician is supportive! You need more of that. Anyone who's on bed rest needs it, never mind the crap you've been through recently.

I am drinking more fluids and feeling a little better. I do feel totally full and uncomfortable, though, w/tons of pressure throughout the abdomen (high up mostly, but also plenty of weird pelvic pains going on). Last night I could barely drag myself to the bathroom, it was horrible. I was all hunched over, just trying to breathe. I guess there's a reason people say the 3rd trimester sucks! Otherwise I am OK...just counting down the days. I am nervous about the L&D, but excited. Of course I am worried about the baby too, just because I am a worrier. I have an OB appt. this Thursday, and my last day of work is next Friday, 7/11. Anyone doing anything interesting for the 4th of July?

Seltzer: I feel you on the suffication thing!! However, it us usually only if I lie on my back for too long. I started to feel nauseaus at the doc's yesterday during my ultrasound! I loved seeing the boys, but could not wait to sit up!!!

No big plans for the 4th here....probably just try to relax..

Tina: I too am still laughing about noah's little mullet!! He may make mullet history if he arrives in this world as a "baby mullet"!! You should check out the mullet website and see if one already exists!
We could not see any hair on the boys during the u/s yesterday, but if my heartburn has anything to say about it, they are both going to have a head full!!!!

I just added some pics of my belly and the boys on photobucket...check out those cute little nose's and lips!! I think my boys have a little Angelina Jolie in them!!

Happy 4th everyone!!

Hi Guys,
Well, I'm pretty sure the baby has dropped. My belly is noticebly lower, I can eat more & breath a little easier, and although I didn't think it was possible, I have to pee more often. I haven't felt any BH contractions or anything, but I did have more discomfort in my pelvic region for about a day. Baby's not due for about 5 weeks now, but if he comes a couple of weeks early it's not going to bother me!

Hope everyone is doing well. I've got no plans for the 4th and I hope it stays that way. I'd love to just be able to sleep, watch some TV & maybe go to the pool.

Take care,
Rebecca
