UGH! I have to go and do the three hour glucose test! *sigh* I should have known this could happen because I have PCOS (which puts you at a higher risk) but still annoying. But it was 150 something and should be 130 something? So, three hour here I come! Hopefully I pass that though because I do not want to have to worry about diet...I mean, no carbs, sugar, etc. That will be tough. But I would rather control it through diet than insulin.

Other than that, got my mole area removed today and my first stitches ever. Go back in 2 weeks to get them removed. The contractions are more braxton hicks now (I think) and are sporadic. But if they come 10 minutes apart I have to take my meds. So still really bed rest is the best for me because I know when I have done too much and I just feel like crap and the pressure starts up again. If I ever have to go on full blown bed rest they will have to admit me to the hospital again.

Suga - yuck - sorry you have to do the 3 hour test. I just got mine done today and get the results tomorrow. I think they want to see under 140. My friend had a false positive on her first test then the 3 hours showed it was ok. Good luck with it, when do you do it? I asked for the lime flavor.
Katie - I looked at the Kalani also and really liked the looks. For me, the convertible to toddler bed was a must, I asked my friend about the drop side and she said it was a must for her, because changing the sheets was really hard without a drop side when the mattress was lower. So I picked the Delta Sienna because it had great reviews, seemed solid and has the convertible toddler bed and the drop side that needs only one hand (we tested out different systems and liked that one better). We used the ship to store option at WM so we haven't gotten it yet. If you can wait a week until we get it and open it I can tell you what kind of white it is. How was your test today - we have twin schedules! I am feeling woozy from the glucose drink, yuck.
Corny- your DH must be exhausted with all the fires. Can you post the link to your blog again?
Mellie- glad you liked the crib, I don't think we are going with matching pieces just cause we are trying not to spend too much $$, we stil need to find a glider. I heard Shermag was good and Costco has one for $250 and Babiesrus has one for #299. Glad you are enjoying LA and breakfast! Sorry about your wisdom tooth, sounds painful :(
Tammy Nice ride!!! I think you should visit Mellie and I when we go for a new car! I stink at dealing! Great deal! Is that the color you got?
Gecko - how have you been? How is DH?
Loopie - how are you? Get the new floors yet?
Weezie - where are you? We miss you!

I personally had to have the drop side. I am very short and have a prosthetic shoulder and upper arm which makes it difficult to use that arm and reach in to lift Zachary out, when I do. I could never use a crib without drop side....mainly though because I am sooo short. LOL

Rio: I got it in classic black. I have been wanting a black car since I fell in love with our nephews car a few years ago.

Suga: You arent too far off of where you need to be...so fingers crossed for the 3 hour to be good. Mine after fasting was 225 and I went straight to insulin within a little over a week of being diagnosed. The diet sucks...but you get used to it...and it is not forever. I try to keep that in mind ...now that I have been doing it for almost 12 weeks. Ugh.

Loopie: How is my pregnancy twin?

Hi Ladies
Just wanted to jump in on the cots conversation regarding the drop sides. Definately go the drop side if you have the option it's ok when bub is still very new and light and you can have the base raised but when they get abit bigger and heavier and the base needs to go down so they can't climb out it's very difficault to not have the side down another thing to think about is if you have a bub like my boy and you need to be ever so quiet and gentle putting him down or h'ell wake and not go back to sleep you don't want to be stretching over the side and making noise(I'm short too Tammy)

It's defiantely worth the drop side ladies

Is everyone sleeping on there sides and not there backs i'ts so hard and I'm constantly finding myself on my back when i wake after going to sleep on my side. I actually feel pregnant as of yesterday i caught a glimps of my self at the tile shop and oh my god i hadn't realized how big my belly is i don't know about you ladies but i always had a little bit of a belly as it was and have just been looking like i thinks as weezie has said supporting a beer belly but now my belly is rounding i'm definately going to be bigger than last time. i have my appointment on tuesday to discuss ceasar or vbac and to schedual my glucose test. And thankfully my house will be finished earlier apparently by the end of this month instead of end of september so i can join you all in the fun of decorating i can't wait.

Best go hope everyone is well and all little people are staying snug in mums bellies until further notice

Take care JOMAEXXX

I'm getting nervous about the birth

Sugabeanzs- I am so glad that all is well and you are home resting. Keep up the PMA and stay reclined as much as possible. I am sure you will be fine. We are all here for you. I am sorry you have to do the three hour glucose test. It really isn't that bad. I went with my best friend and we played cribbage and gin rummy the whole time. Because of my age I had to do the three hour test twice - once at 6 weeks and again at 24 weeks and it turned out fine. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Cinci - Awesome that you already have your delivery date selected! I hope things go smoothly.

Tammy - I love your new car! DH and I are also planning to get a new car to replace the '87 Saturn that I have. I think we are going to buy the Volvo station wagon. It has lots of great safety features and room for all the baby gear but gets kinda crappy gas mileage. I will be the primary user though, and don't have far to go to work etc... so it should work out.

Mellie - LA sounds nice. I hope you are enjoying the great weather - and the breakfasts! Is it very hard to travel this far along in your pregnancy? I have been afraid to do any.

cornybaby - I have read your blog and am so glad that everything is fine with your babies!!!! How relieved you must be. Now you can sit back and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. What agency does your DH work for. Mine works for CalFire and hasn't had a day off in over three weeks. Doesn't look like he will be getting any time off soon either. At least he has vacation the first week in August so I can count on him being home then. I am trying to fix up the nursery myself so that he will be surprised when he gets home. I REALLY miss him though....

Rio - How is your puppy doing? Mine is REALLY hard to housetrain. I finally had to steam clean all the upstairs carpeting because of his potty accidents and now he is only allowed in the family room (which is getting quite pungent!). He is starting to get the hang of going outside to potty but if I forget to take him he has an accident and sometimes I will take him out three or four times in a row and he won't go and then - boom- he will let go in the house. I have talked to my vet and she says I am doing all the right things. At least his is crate trained so at night and when I go out he is good. He is a lot more work than I thought he would be! I hope your glucose test comes out fine. Keep us posted.

Jomae - Hooray for your house being done soon! I am having a really hard time sleeping on my side. I like being on my back and when I am on my side my arm and hands go to sleep. It really sucks! Good luck on your glucose screening. I am getting nervous about the birth too. Not only because as a first time mom but also because I don't feel like I am ready yet. There is still so much to do first!

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I am loving being off from work! It is nice to be able to rest or nap when I need to. I am only going back to school for the first 6 weeks of school and know that it will be hard. When are all of you stopping working?

Hi gecko! Sorry your DH has been so busy :( Yes, our puppy has been a handful, we take him out often but he still has accidents here and there. He gets into everything and won't stop. Being pregnant and having to carry him around has been hard (our backyard is a little far to go with stairs and long hallway) thanks God we got cork floors and they are a breeze to clean. I am exhausted since he doesn't sleep much. I never thought I would be so tired which makes me nervous about the baby and me not sleeping. When I do sleep, I get cramps in my legs, everything hurts. I am just pooped out and the baby is not even here!!! Time off? What's that? I don't get any breaks here and I have to work full time even on the 4th! I might go on disability 4 weeks before bub comes then I only have 6 weeks after. If I want more time off, I have to take leave with no pay. We have a big CA mortgage so I don't know if we can make it with one paycheck. Really bums me cause I just don't know how it will be working full time and having the baby, I will feel guilty
Jomae - thanks for the insight on the drop side crib, I am glad we got a drop side that's convertible! Awesome that you get to move to your new house soon! How fun!
Tammy awesome color, love the new car smell! Sorry you have to be on a bland diet, I admire your PMA!!!
Katie as soon as we get the crib I will let you know how it is.

We decided to register for Born Free bottles. I also heard don't get any other carrier than the Baby Bjorn! Wipe warmers can be a fire hazard and that you are not supposed to use baby powder on the baby! Wow - learn new stuff everyday!

Katie - Hope you blood glucose test went well!

Corny
- Thanks for the welcome to LA! The weather was so nice the whole time I was there. Lots of nice people, too. The woman I work with out there hosted a surprise baby shower for me! It was so nice. I was so clueless, though. When I saw pink balloons I thought it must be someone's birthday or something. It took me a minute to clue in on what was happening. Had a great time, though. Glad to hear that you're doing well!

Suga - When are you doing the 3 hour test? Sorry you have to do that. How are you feeling? Are you able to relax and take it easy?

Jomae - I'm trying to sleep on my sides. I usually sleep on the right. The dr said sleeping on the left was best. I try to do that but I flip-flop a lot I guess. I'm just glad that I'm sleeping. I had insomnia off and on for much of the first half of this pregnancy. I guess my hormones have straightened out, though, b/c I'm finally getting good sleep.

Gecko - Travel wasn't hard. The only difference was that I can't carry as much stuff as I'm used to carrying. Still, this is probably the last trip for me. At 24 weeks it just seems smart to stay put from now on. So nice that you have the summer off! Sounds great!

Rio - Hope you got good results on your glucose test. I'll have to check out those gliders. We still haven't settled on a crib yet. Hope to do that soon! Wipe warmers are a fire hazard? Could you give me more info on that? I put one on my registry. Why shouldn't you use baby powder? Sorry to hear about all the puppy puddles.

Well, looks like my wisdom tooth is gonna be extracted on Monday. I have my blood glucose test at 9:30, then an appt w/the oral surgeon to have the tooth removed at 11:30 and then I'm gonna try to go in to work b/c I have meetings and I don't want to use any more of my vacation time. That may be wishful thinking, though. Monday should be a fun day

We have baby classes at our hospital this weekend! That should be fun! :D

Katie: to be on the safe side ...call them Monday. I cant tell ya how many docs ...I've heard lately that forget to call. Grrr. Zach's room looked really bright at first, too. However, it toned down alot once the furniture and accessories went in.

Mellie: Have fun at your classes. We really enjoyed our classes. Sorry to hear about your tooth. That stinks.

I am soo miserable. I have another UTI and am in pain. My hips are killing me from flip flopping from hip to hip and my back is trying to go out. I cried all night last night for my DH to rub my back, hips, and down my leg. :(

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July! :D

Hi and Happy Independence Day!

Tammy- Sorry you're having a crappy time with the UTIS and back/leg/hip pain, that really sucks-I find my temper is very short when I am trying to control my pain - but so far, I've been drug-free for the most part! I try to take a rest each afternoon so my pain does not overcome - been pretty lucky so far- super deal on the ride!!
Sug- you are getting the tough end of things right now- hope the news will be good about the glucose test-
jomae- i am with you in spirit!- though it sounds even more hectic on your end of things- with the house.
Rio- you are a busy bee! sounds like you're feeling great
mellie- that is a lot to do in one day- you may want the afternoon off- pulling a wisdom tooth ain't no picnic!!!!
gecko- hope DH is safe and will be home soon- I plan on going back to grad school in the fall and teaching for the 1st 6 wks, I hope- but who knows- anything can happen....
katie what color did you paint the room?
more later- just a quick update- been moving stuff all over the place - laying the recycled flooring finished up Wednesday, and sanding started yesterday- wow- it's going to take a lot to get them into shape- I am relegated to the bedroom where we've moved my computer, thankfully, we laid these floors before we moved in!- a much smarter idea  guess if we'd had the money..... anyhow- so I will be going away again as I cannot be around once the polyurethane coating starts- have friend who has offered up his "country" home to me and the pooch for a week, so we can be toxin free!
finally looking preggers, having a very hard time with the eating schedule- I just am not really hungry..... need to upload photos soon-but need nap more!
good wishes to all!
HUGS!

Hope you girls had a great 4th!

Mellie - How much time off are you going to take on maternity leave? Are you going to be working full time after that? I am so sorry to hear about your wisdom tooth - ouch, getting those out is no picnic, can you re-schedule your meetings? I hope it goes well. I heard that the less stuff you have plugged in the better, baby powder is because the particles are so small and the baby can inhale them, corn starch is better, their little lungs are too sensitive. Let us know what you pick up on the baby classes!!!
Katie - I haven't heard back yet and I am hoping that it is - no news, good news! Especially since I ate a kitkat and milky way yesterday while working!
Tammy- so sorry to hear about your UTI, ouch, those things are a pain  especially now, sorry also to hear you have trouble sleeping, I got 5 pillows now and still my hips and back hurt so I understand. Are you also getting leg cramps? I am starting to get really grumpy from lack of sleep! Have you tried different combinations or a maternity pillow? I hope you are able to clear your UTI and get some rest.
Loopie- woohoo new floors!! smart to stay away from the fumes!
Suga/corny how are the bed rest girls doing?

I had a 12 hour day yesterday and my feet are killing me! Puppy still waking us up his little bladder still can't pull an all nighter! Then he wants to play or chew his playpen (where he sleeps next to the bed) at 2 am! He is so cute and a wonderful addition to our family and worth the little sleep! Alright I need to vent a little. I am so grumpy and DH too, we haven't slept well in 2 weeks and we know that it is not going to get better after baby. I am in pain at night. After he and I worked until 11 pm last night, we finally got to take a nap at 2pm today because the pup got sleepy. I was sleeping amazing! Then knock on the door, SD decided she was bored and wanted to wake us up because "we had already been sleeping for one hour and she was bored" I swear I could have screamed, she is 12 for crying out loud! And we just had her write a paper about being considerate (because of her past behavior)!!!! thanks for letting me vent, I can't tell DH too much because he already gets upset that she acts exactly like her self centered mother.

Katie - What color did you paint the room? What kind of paint did you use?

Tammy - That's lousy about your hip, I'm sorry! Have you tried one of those maternity pillows? What about a "pregnancy massge"? I know that pregnant women can't get normal massages but I have heard about "special" massage techniques just for pregnant women. Maybe your obgyn could recommend one? Or, a physical therapist?

Loopie - Have fun in the country! What do you teach? I used to do quite a bit of teaching myself. Teaching is fun but exhausting!

Rio - I'm taking 3 months of maternity leave and then I will go back to work 3 days a week. Once my maternity leave is up DH will "work from home" (whatever that means w/a baby!) on Fridays. So, we will only have to find child care for 2 days/week. I like my job but I have to say that I'm really looking forward to the change. As for the wipe warmer, I took it off my registry. After you mentioned that it could be a fire hazard I googled it. It's not a "must have" and I'd rather be safe. As for the baby class, she said that you can't spoil a baby in the first 3 months so it's ok to hold them as much as you want. I'm reading Dr. Weissbluth's book "Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child" and he says something different. We'll have to decide what we're comfortable with I guess in terms of sleep schedules. I'm a researcher and I tend to want to research the crap out of everything so I may hit the online journals at the Universisty library to read up on the sleep schedule controversy. Some of my friends have had lots of trouble getting their little ones on a schedule and I'd like to do the best I can to help her get on a schedule when it's developmentally appropriate. One more thing, what kind of paint did you say you used for the nursery? Sherman Williams?

Suga - How are you feeling? Babies being good?

Corny - How have you been? Hope all's well!

A friend gave me the book "Baby Bargains". I think someone on here mentioned that book, too. I'm now addicted to that and Consumer Reports. I keep learning more and more about baby products and changing my mind over and over about what products we need. My brain is turning into a pretzel. At this rate, she'll be lucky if I decide on a crib by the time she starts kindergarten!

Mellie - you crack me up! I do that too, I over-research everything! Let me know what you find out cause I have read a few conflicting things about babies and sleeping, one is that you need to be there when they cry so they feel safe, the other is to leave them crying. Go figure! I think it is great we can all share the best tips and advice here. There is so much to learn! I am going to try and go 30 hours a week but don't know how much time off I can get. :(

Mellie- the paint I got is from the Home Depot- called Freshaire - it is a NO VOC paint, so even I should be able to use it. I am a graduate teaching assistant 10 hrs a week- don't know what I will be teaching this time, but last year I taught drawing, welding and metal casting- which was a good time!

Ok- yesterday sucked- I hurt all day- guess I shouldn't have been boasting about feeling swell.... legs, hips, back and pinching around my belly and groin - GRRRRRRRRRRR! :x and to top it off- I had a run of completely unsuccessful errands, one of which was that someone pushed over my sculpture at the gallery and broke it- pissed!!!!!!!!!!!! they said- "we don't know how it happened...no one was there when it fell" - that is BS, I am pretty sure- it's not that big a deal- just pesky, I guess b/c I have to fix it and take it back again....
am very cranky and am in house upheaval hell- dh, dog, cat and i are crammed in our bedroom, and I am behind on everything, and dh packed all the bills in a box, so I don't know where they are to pay them- ok- really need to get out of this funk, and how! have too much good stuff going to be irritated about all of this- must get used to it, b/c house will be like this until at least the 18th - which is really not long, I'm just cranky!!!

ok- enough of that!

Cute bellies and puppies and kitties on photobucket, girls!!!! once I get the pix off my camera, I'll get 'em up - finally had dh take a belly shot- after 6 months!
