Well We just bought regular Home Depot paint and DH painted and I stayed away. I just peeked in every now and then. We painted green but its a really bright lime green to go with the bedding. I think once we get the white furniture in I will like it better. I sure hope so otherwise DH will have to prime and paint again. I to have been sleeping bad and have had lots of hip and leg pain/cramps. and this is only the begining of it. I was off thursday nad firday of last week and now we are going to the 9/80 schedule until end of august so I am going to be sooo tired having to work more each day. I know when I have my every other firday off it will be good but still i dont know how im going to get up in the morning. Especially coming off of my super long weekend.

Hi Moms! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! I went to a family cookout and it was fun although I am really missing my DH who has been at work for over four weeks now with no end in sight.....

I need to vent! Is anyone else irrationally cranky and emotional? I am finding that I cannot deal with even the simplest of tasks without becoming crabby. I am not sleeping well either and keep having problems with my right hand going numb when I sleep. I must be putting pressure on it or sleeping with my neck at a bad angle, but I keep waking up and having to shake it and it really hurts. I am really congested and have a headache too, but that could be from the bad air quality from all the fires here. And to top it off, heartburn has set in. When I eat I get nauseous like in the first trimester and then have heartburn for hours. Doesn't matter what I eat. I REALLY can't seem to deal with my puppy at all. He is incorrigible and nowhere near potty trained. If I can't deal with him, how good of a mother will I be? My husband says I need to get out of the house but I have no energy to do it. It doesn't really look like my DH is going to get much if any time off this summer. He has been at work for a month and doesn't have vacation until August so they can keep him all of July if they have to. While I do understand that it is fire season etc... I can't help but feel like I am all alone here. I can't do the household maintenance that I used to either so things are really starting to get run down without him here to help. I feel like I am totally hormonal and about to explode!!!! So girls, what fun activities should I do to lift my mood? Any suggestions?

Katie - What is a 9/80 schedule? It sure sounds like you will be working a lot!

Loopie - I totally understand you with the home renovation hell! It was really hard when I had my upstairs painted and that was only for two days. Hang in there!

Mellie - Your work schedule after maternity leave sounds ideal! I wish I could do something similar, but just can't afford to.

Rio - Aren't puppies fun??!?! They look so cute, but are a total handful. I will never get another one. Next time, it is an adult dog for us - one that is beyond all the puppy shenanigans. I am sorry you aren't getting sleep. I crate our puppy downstairs and he settles in nicely and lasts all night without peeing. At least there is ONE thing he can do!!! Your SD sounds like more of a handful. I would have pitched a fit if I was woken up because she was bored. I hope you found some chores for her to do to keep the boredom at bay!

Tammy - I am sorry about the UTI and all the hip and back pain you are having. This is the not so fun part of pregnancy that we weren't told about I guess. Hope the antibiotics kick in and you feel better soon.

Hope everyone has a fun Sunday. Take care.

Gecko - Sorry your DH has been gone, I can['t even imagine being alone right now, I feel really bad for you. I had a hormonal weekend too. I am fine with the dogs, puppy has taken himself out to potty a few times so we see progress, it sure is work. My SD was just terrible this weekend and I am getting to the point where I don't even want to be around her, DH is really stressed over her attitude and inconsideration of everything, she treats us like dirt and our home like a hotel (plus she didn't even shower for 3 days - yuck!). Don't worry about the puppy, some take more time, what methods have you been using? We take ours out very often and give him treats for going in the right place, we make sure doors are open in case he needs to go, when we catch him we make a big fuss to startle him then run with him to the right place. Are you doing TUMS for your heartburn? It helps me a little but not much. Sorry about the trouble sleeping also :( As far as fun activities go, do you like potography? Crafts? I hope you feel better :)
Katie - post some pics of the room when you can :) Sorry you can't sleep well either, seems to be plaguing all of us. Cute belly pic! 9/80 is great but you are right about the longer days.
Tammy- Doggie is just adorable! He is your little angel watching over you!
Mellie- I still can't believe how small and cute your belly is!
Loopie- sorry you feel crammed in, our house is upside down right now and I feel like we are moving at turtle's pace, I know the feeling and can't blame you for getting cranky, sorry about your sculpture, you will have gorgeous floors soon!
Suga/Corny how are you girls?

Hi Mommies! :D

Katie - I'll bet it looks different with furniture in it. Sorry about the hip pains and leg cramps. That seems to be happening to quite a few people on this board right now. What do the dr's say about this?

Gecko - Lack of sleep can make anyone cranky. And, if my DH was gone a lot I would be really cranky, too. That must be so tough. Fun activities? Well, I made a little baby book of baby's conception and gestation (I put in my med protocol and the documentss saying how many embryos, etc...) then I put in the pos HPTs (seriously, I put them right into the book and just taped up the pee end) and then I put in ultrasound photos and results from test we've had and a little card from the clothes that my aunt sent. I enjoyed getting it organized. That was a nice fun little task to do. Next I'll add pics from the baby shower my friend threw for me in LA and more ultrasound pics when I get them.

Rio
- Sounds like your puppy potty training is going pretty well. That must be hard right now, though.

Well, I had my GD blood draw this morning. Hope that went ok. Then, I went to the oral surgeon and had my wisdom tooth removed. It was fine. I haven't even needed a tylenol. Kind of sore, though. Probably gonna have nice, soft, chef boy-ardee tonight for dinner!

Our A/C went out about 10 days ago. Yikes! It's hot in Chicago right now, too. Gonna be expensive to fix. We weren't expecting it, either. That's just how it goes, though. We're trying to think of it as a home improvement expense that adds value rather than sunk money. At least that makes us feel a little better. Don't know how long it'll take to get someone out here to fix it.

Hi all
Mellie you sound a bit like me ive got a little book sort of like a diary/record book of everything from dosages of medicines taken to changes that are happening with me i've even got photos of the nursery first xmas's and easters and birthday and everything hes done new and i'm doing the same for this baby aswell i just think it's a great keep sake and it's good to look back at now and compare notes from my last pregnancyand of course what ds was like and how it affected me.

Gecko aswell as my record book i've brought katie her first cot blanket to make my self and seeing i'm not to good with a sewing machine let alone a hand sewer i'm doing pretty good i made one for ds aswell which has managed to stay together even after being put through the wash countless times to my suprize. you could come up with some sugestions for katies middle name i still can't decide. As for your hand pain it's actually common for pregnant ladies to get symptoms like tendinitis or carpel tunnel when pregnant my sister gets it so bad when pregnant that she can't pick anything up which is not easy with a young family do you have small wrists apparently it can be worse for ladies with smaller wrists although not always the case.

I'm am so with you ladies who are lacking sleep and suffering with indigestion or heart burn it's so hard to get comfy and to stay off my back while sleeping. i had my hospital appointment today where we were to discuss wether i can try naturally or have to have a ceasar but my records haven't been transfered from the old hospital yet. the doctor seems to think that from what i've told her that i can choose which way i go i have to week 34 to decide but i just don't know ive expereinced strong labour pains and the effects after a ceasar and while the natural birth scares me more beacuse of the pain( sorry theres no use in pretending it won't hurt because it does)but i'm skeptical about how i will manage washing changeing and having to lift an active two yeay old with out doing damage for the 6 weeks following, it's hard enough to walk straight so what do you ladies think what would you all do. My glucose test is in four weeks time. did i tell you all i've put on three and a half kilos in the last month oh my god i'm now the same weight i was when full term with ds i'm going to have to do some serious walking after bub is here to try and loose some.
Anyway i've rambled enough talk later
take care JOMAEXX

27 weeks

Post by sugabeanzs »

Well I went in for my 27 week appointment and had to wait an hour and half which I have never had to do nor want to do again! But she did a cervix check and I am starting to funnel (which means it is going to eventually open up here soon) and I am at 2cm which is getting into the danger zone. So just bed rest for me. I have my high risk appt. next week and they will check it again. If it gets too short I have to go to the hospital and be admitted till they are born most likely because it is really hard to do strict bed rest at home.

Other than that little happening, I still am sitting at gaining 14 pounds this pregnancy (just baby then and most likely lost weight since preggers) AND I passed my 3 hour glucose test!!! I am excited because I like carbs too much! The test itself was horrible because nothing to eat or drink in that long of a time was horrible. I was so dehydrated by the end of the test they could not find a vein (I have bad veins as it is) and they had to keep poking and I am bruised. The husband says I look like a heroine addict.

So hopefully these babies can stay in there a little longer so that they do not have to be in the NICU for too long of a period of time!

Rio: Good luck on your glucose test. Bring something to do it is horrible and boring. And ask if you can drink water before the test because by the end you are just so thirsty and dehydrated.

sugabeanzs - I am sorry things are progressing for you like they are.....How are you coping with the bedrest? Did the doctors say how long they anticipate being able to keep them in there? Congrats on passing the 3hr glucose test! At least you can indulge in dessert....

Rio - I failed my first glucose screen (it was 141) at 6 weeks and that is why I had to do the 3hr test twice. A lot of times, women who fail the first screen go on to pass the 3hr test. Try not to worry. Did they tell you how to prepare for the test? When are you taking it?

Jomae and Mellie - Thanks for the craft ideas! I am cross stitching a baby blanket for the baby which should take up all the remaining time of my pregnancy. It will be really pretty when I finish. I will post a picture when I am done.

Mellie - It is 104 here today and I only have a small portable air conditioner for the family room. The rest of the house is unbearable. I don't know how you can stand the heat and humidity that is Chicago in the summer! When will your A/C be fixed? Did you get your bloodwork results yet on your GD screen?

Sassy, where are you?

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Hey girls! Rio - I am so sorry that you have to do that 3 hour test. None of my docs have mentioned anything about any tests yet, but I am sure it's probably just a matter of time. Hopefully you will pass the next one with flying colors! My fingers are crossed for you.

Sugarbeanz - you poor thing! Trust me, I know how hard bedrest is, but I am sure you would much rather be home than in the hospital, so you sit tight if you can. I am praying that you keep those little ones cooking for weeks to come!

Mellie - I am so glad LA was good to you. And how nice of them to have a shower! Funny I am in LA and travel to Chicago a lot for work...well, I used to anyways. Until bedrest came along. :D

Gecko - my goodness. DH at work for a month?!?! I think about you every time I see the news. It must be taking quite a toll on you (and him). My DH works for LA City. I cannot imagine if he had to be gone for that long. Hopefully he will be home soon?

Well, I've been having a terrible time sleeping too. I guess it's par for the pregnancy course, huh? The acid reflux in the middle of the night is awful. I wake up out of nowhere and think I might throw up, so now I keep a bottle of tums next to the bed. It seems to help. I had another u/s today. I've updated my blog so I won't bother to post it again here, other than to say all is well. I just can't wait to get to that 24 week milestone. I am feeling and seeing the babies kick every day, which is awesome. What a sense of relief that brings in between appointments! Oh - I put a belly pick on the bucket. :D

Ok, enough rambling...hope everyone is doing ok!

Corny: Being on bed rest at home is hard. We have 2 dogs that I have to take out during the day because the husband has work and school and I also have to get my own food and whatnot. It is just hard when I am OCD about cleaning and trying to do my best not to do anything. I think in 2 weeks if it is still getting shorter I will tell them to put me in the hospital because it is easier to do there even though boring. And the nausea has hit me esp. when Brooke is up in the ribs. I feel ya there!

Gecko: They said nothing about how long they will stay in there. I am sure they are just hoping at least 32 weeks if not 34. I am sure if it gets worse and the contractions dont stay at bay they will put me on magnesium to alter them (which I hear is horrible to go on). So hopefully I can make it both mentally and physically!

Ok, rant and rave. We all went through a lot to get pregnant but there are just times I hate being preggers. I mean I am so excited about the outcome and having our girls home but the pregnancy itself just sucks a lot. Always uncomfortable, nausea, pressure, etc etc. I mean I am truly TRULY blessed to be pregnant and would not change a thing because I love these girls but sheesh, pregnancy is hard. I hate people who say that pregnancy is the best thing ever and they love it...I want to puke on them lol. Ok, thats it. My little rant.

Suga - I am so sorry that you have to go through so much. I feel silly whinning about my glucose test but I just have been cranky. Congrats on passing your 3 hour test! Thanks for the water tip! I completely understand you saying that it might be easier to stay still in the hospital then at home. Do you have someone that can take care of the pups for you? Although my pregnancy has been relatively uneventful (besides the early scare of Down's) I completely agree with you. I am so blessed to be pregnant and I love my baby but this really is not the feel pretty and glowing and wonderful pregnancy I thought everyone ranted about. It really is a pain in the A$$ ;) Again, wouldn't trade it for the world but this is NO picnic! I think it is harder for some of us in IVF just cause our bodies go through so much BEFORE even getting preggers, so by the time we get preggers we are almost at one year of hormones and crazy feelings. A natural pregnancy wouldn't even show up until about 8 to 9 weeks!
Gecko - no idea when I have to do it again or how, I will get instructions tomorrow. I hope it is a false positive, I can't give up food ;) or my milky ways ;) I am so sorry DH is still gone, you are a trooper. How is the puppy doing?
Corny- thanks for the good wishes! Glad the girls are doing well!

Thanks Katie! Sorry you haven't been sleeping well either

I got my 3 hour test Friday morning so I am hoping I pass this thing!

I was reading online and read an article about New Zealand, that it had a high incidence of SIDS and after they started wrapping the mattresses they have not had a problem. The product name is babesafe, you can google it and read the articles. Seems like it is worth a try. They also say don't put anything waterproof on your babies mattress becasue those pads release gases. So basically you wrap the mattress in this special non gassy wrap/plastic and then you use the sheets, 100% cotton and it should help minimize the risks. I also read you shoudn't do crib bumpers, Babiesrus has a breathable one I put on our registry. Just thought I would share!!! :)

Basically a big plastic bag made with plastic that doesn't emit gases. Google New Zealand babesafe. :)
