Hey girls, just a quick note to say I found Acapulco on the "General forum" under "Male infertility" post. She is getting ready to go through a new cycle and needs lots of baby dust from us and PMA! :)
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Hi gals

Sug- that just sucks! but I know you can do it- keep in bed, you don't want to end up in the hosp for a month or more!!! I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be for you- and Corny (and who else is a bedrest gal again??) I feel so very lucky not to be going through the physical crap of pregnancy, but I tell you, I am going through the emotional crap, if that is any consolation .....

mellie- sorry chi-town is so darned hot- hope you can get a cross-breeze going and keep cool

rio- how'd the test go?

thanks for the heads up on Acapulco- I'll pop over and see- no word still on MIA

Cinci- you doing ok?

Weezie- how are you and that marvelous belly?

I went to the beach for a couple of days to get out of the way of the sanding- it's not done yet!!!!, a few more passes- everything is covered in sawdust - but hopefully on tuesday, dh and our friend will start the polyurethane coat- then pup and I really need to get out for a few days- terrible timing, for sure- but it needs done - still don't know where we're going as I need to be nearby for doc appts and art events next week- hmmmm- if it was just me, probably no problem, but with the pooch, it does make things a bit tougher to find accommodations

been feeling good- don't know when i have the glucose test, but am sure I will have one

who has had her shower?? tell us what you got!!!!

mine is scheduled for 17 August- and will be here at our place- so I am anxious to get the floors done, so I can clean and rearrange the house- I am a notorious furniture mover- which is a terrible habit for a pregnant lady with a bad back  , but I cannot wait!
brought the very old crib back from my folks place last week- it is great, and small! average cribs these days are 30"x 52" ish, and this one is 23" 42"- I'm actually kind of relieved as it won't take up too much space, even if space is what I seem to have a lot of
I'll do my best to remember to get some pix up on the site- this damned bad memory has me in a state!!
all for now- much love and many good wishes to all

loopie

oh- ps- I got me a BUMPIN' 08 t-shirt!!!!! gotta love those cheesy iron on letters!

Rio - Cute cartoon! Good luck w/your glucose test.

Suga - Hope all's going well and the girls are staying put. Congrats on passing your glucose test. I think it's perfectly fine to be fed up sometimes w/being pregnant even though we all worked so hard for it. Really, what we all wanted was a baby (or two!) and so I think you should complain all you want about the pregnancy part. Just b/c we went to a lot of extra effort to have a child doesn't mean we have to pretend to enjoy every minute of pregnancy. :)

Gecko
- I'm happy to report that our A/C is back as of yesterday. But boy was this an expensive repair! Not good timing but I guess it never is. I am just happy to be sleeping in a nice cool room again :D Hope your DH gets to come home soon. I'm really sorry that you have to miss him like this. I wouldn't tolerate that very well so you must be a really strong person to be missing him for so long.

Corny - I'm so happy to read on your blog that the girls are doing well. Your bump is really cute! Where did you stay when you were in Chicago? Were you downtown? We live in Printer's Row. It's about 5 blocks south and 2 blocks west of the Art Institute. And, I work two buildings west of the Art Institute. Maybe you know my neighborhood?

Jomae - What's a cot blanket? Hope the sleeping gets better for you.

Loopie - Hope you enjoyed your time at the beach. Did you find a place for you and pup to stay during your home improvements this week?

Well, not too much new here. I pased my glucose test which was a relief. But, my hemoglobin count was low so I guess I'm just a little anemic. They want me to start taking iron supplements. I am trying to add more red meat to my diet, too.

Body changes have me a little weirded out but not too bad. Just strange to see my profile in the window when I walk by a building.

I have m 2nd shower this Saturday (the 1st one was in LA the week before last and was a surprise to me). My best friend is flying up from KC to host with another friend of ours and his wife who live here in Chicago. My parents are coming up from Missouri for the party, too. Should be fun. We're gonna have a BBQ. I told them to just make it a fun party w/beer and hamburgers (well, water andd burgers for me :D ) and leave out the girly stuff. I hope everyone has a good time. DH and I are really looking forward to it.

Missed Doctor's call tonight, I am really scared he is going to say I have gestational diabetes :(

Katie- I read some very scary things about labor and yes, I am getting terrified of it. I wish people would have told me all about it before! Who am I kidding! I would have done it anyway! have you decided on epidural vs not? I also had no idea you had to wear pads for 2 weeks after giving birth  or the tearing   or the "accidents" you might have while pushing    never mind the pain!!!

Hi Guys hope your all well

Mellie a cot blanket is just like a mini quilt but for the cot. I'm making a patchwork quilt for Katie this time it's just something personal i like to make for the new bub from mummy. Your baby shower sounds great i hope you all have a good time I know what you mean about seeing your profile it takes you back sometimes especially when you haven't really been paying attention to how your looking and then bam theres a belly and a big one at that.

Hey Loopie its hard to travel with pets have you not got friends that can take you and your puppy in for a few days until you floor is done it'll bbe good when finished though hey

Katie and Rio i am with you both on the birth and all the scary thoughts if only that part could be avoided. Rio as for the accidents bit you'll find you empty your bowel if thats what you were talking about well before your flat on your back popping out bub my midwife with ds wispered to me i noticed earlier you need to empty your bowels if you want to go in and try before things advance any further. i appreciated her discreetness my mum sister and husband were with me but i'd like to keep some dignity if possible. it's just hard not to think of all the possibles of what could happen like needing stitches i guess the thing is not to go in thinking it'll be a breeze with no pain and everything will go to plan i think you just have to be aware of what could possibly happen and then if it does arise you'll be sort of prepared. but I am defiantely having more anxious thoughts of the birth if i opt for a vbac. the idea is PMA PMA PMA PMA and all will be just fine or so i'm telling myself.

Rio i hope your call wasn't bad news perhaps they are just super efficient and ringing to tell you you passed

Corny hi there can you post your blog address thing again so i can check it out thanks

as for me not too much new like i said before i'm getting nervous about the birth, and feeling much bigger but having no major complaints except to say my back is getting achey but who's isn't right i weighed myself this am and i'm down a kilo and a half so i either had been eating massively the night bbefore i last weighed my self or i've lost alittle i haven't been able to eat as much feeling fuller much earlier and doing loads more exercise so maybe thats it we've been fencing our block just the hubby and i so we don't need to worry about the dog going walk about when we move

Everyone else hope your all doing fine hey has everyone finalized names yet and if you want to share what are they i'd love to hear them

Take care all JOMAEXXX

Morning Girls!
looks like i'll be out of here again for a few days... polyurethane should start today!
jomae- yep- I have a lot of friends who have offered, but i'm kind of feeling picky- you know edgy, hungry, lazy, ...- I am going up to stay at an empty house about an hour away, then down to DC to stay with our best buddies - the other thing is, most of our friends nearby have dogs already, so an additional giant one makes things even crazier, and I don't want to inconvenience anyone.

Mellie- I think I know where you are!! Chicago is a great town- I love the lake this time of year- I remember it looked and felt like a Caribbean beach! - Are you familiar with "PIERWALK"? the huge outdoor sculpture exhibition that happens on and around the Navy Pier? Dh and I both had big outdoor works in the 2000 exhibition, though these days, i'm trying to keep it small

Katie- I know what you mean- I just started reading the stuff about labor and delivery- as well as c sections- reasons for them, and such- trying not to get to wacked out about it, but it is daunting! I haven't made any decisions about pain relief, birth plan, etc- so far, my birth plan is to have a baby- I'm not even sure dh wants to be in the room- he's no good with blood, and hates to see me in pain, and the last thing i want is to worry about him!!!!

Rio- hope everything is fine with your glucose test!

weezie- what's up? Sug- hang in there!
Gecko- how are you? how's the dh doing?hope he'll be back from the fires in a jiffy

all for now

keep feeling groovy!

loopie - I hope the finishing of your floors goes smoothly and you are home in no time! Is that the last thing you need to do before you set up the baby's room?

Jomae - I am making a quilt for my baby too. I love cross stitching and this is a cross stitched quilt that I will sew fabric and a ruffle to when I am done. It is really cute - a huge air balloon with little animals riding below. I think I will end up hanging it on the wall instead of letting him puke on it! Good job on losing a bit of weight! I have been just gaining and gaining. I am up almost 30 pounds already! Sigh.... I gues it is what it is and I will lose it after the brith.

rio - I would be bummed if I missed the doctor's call too. And they NEVER just leave a message, do they? Anyway, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it goes. At least if it is positive, you only have a few months on the diet and then it will be over.....

katie - I am right there with you on the labor fears. I have been doing some reading on my options and am not sure what I want to do. I am guessing that a lot will be decided at the very end. If the baby is in the right position and I don't have any complications, I would like to do a vaginal birth rather than a c-section (although my doctor said the choice was up to me). I am also going to ask for IV drugs and if necessary get an epidural. I really don't want an episeotomy (sp?) and have heard that you can tear more easily with an epidural because you can't really feel how hard you are pushing. I just want what is best for the baby of course, but I am really afraid that at my age I won't bounce back as quickly as others. I think I will get more info from my ob/gyn as I get closer to delivery.

Today I am visiting an infant day care center. I started calling around about care starting in February and it seems that I should have started much earlier as lots of places have no openings and only waitlists. I am on a wait list at a facility near where I work but am not sure I will even get in. I will find out more about the place I am visiting today. I really need to have it all set up soon. It is really expensive too - 1700 a month on average. Unfortunately I do have to go back to work full time to be able to afford our huge mortgage..... It is hard because I am having to make all the decidions now and DH hasn't been home. He says he trusts my judgement which is nice but it would be great to have a second opinion. Wish me luck!

All is well with me. I am feeling good, just huge. Sometimes when I wake up my belly muscles are sore and my hands are a little puffy but I guess that is pretty normal. I am also having some problems with numbness in my thumb - middle fingers in the morning and when I do something intricate like sewing. I think I may have carpal tunnel syndrome which I have never had before, but read that it can be a temporary thing in pregnancy. I will ask my doc when I go next Tuesday.

Have a great week girls

Well count me in for gestational diabetes  I am so upset right now. I have been so good about not crying at work too, but I blew this one, I am such a messy cryer, red eyes, red face, it stinks!!!!

Gecko- how is your DH doing? Any prospect of him coming home soon? I started looking at day care too and have found the same thing, waiting lists and lots of $$$ but just like you I have to work also to pay a huge mortgage. Are you going to take leave with no pay, FLMA? I am trying to get disability for 6 weeks (4 before birth) then probably leave with no pay then back to work 25 hours then 30 hours. Problem here is they don't do part time day care, you can have part time day care but you pay ful time no matter what!
Loopie I like your birth plan! I looked at one at babycenter.com and had no idea that there were so many details to think of. I also heard that epidural slows labor but I just am not into pain...
jomae glad the house is going well. Those were the accidents I was afraid, it is embarrassing enough without the extras ;) It is great to have someone with experience here since most of us are newbies!
Mellie - woohoo for AC! How has your asthma been? Mine has been pretty good but flared up with stress last night. Good job on passing the glucose test!! Sounds like a great shower to me, what time should we be over ;)

Suga/Corny/Weezie - how are you girls?

Tammy Maybe you don't mind sharing the diet with me? I still have to get my appt... I hope you are doing well.

Rio - I am so sorry about the GD diagnosis. I know it must suck to have to be on a special diet but I am sure you will do fine with it. And you are coming into the home stretch so it won't be for long. When is your appointment to go over the diet and blood testing? Was the doctor nice about it all? Hang in there!

Thanks Gecko! I go for an appt with the nurse tomorrow and then dietician Thursday. I don't mind the diet so much, it just scares me that I will be at higher risk for diabetes later and there are possible side effects for the baby. I hope it all works out! I got to keep the PMA! I really did not see it coming, the doc was super nice about it.

Rio: So sorry about the GD. I know you can do it through diet though! Plus it will help you out in the long run knowing this. I have a higher risk of diabetes because it runs in the family so I know once these babies are born I have to watch my weight and sugar intake because I do not want to have to deal with it later in life...it will all be worth it!!

Well on Wednesday I had to go back to triage for contractions and pain...I was 60% effaced and 1cm dilated so they admitted me until I got home yesterday evening. They had to put me on magnesium (HORRIBLE drug but it does the trick) then just observed me. So now I am only allowed to get up to go potty and take a shower. Does not help that I have horrible hip pain from them spreading I suppose and bad ligament pain because the belly is starting to get huge. I go in for an appt. every week now to get the cervix checked out and if I dilate any more then back to the hospital for me! They said they will stop everything until I am 34 weeks then if I go into labor past 34 they will just let me keep going and have them. So scary to think they could be here in 6 weeks! Other than that, all is well. Hope all is well with you all!
